Yay, I’m finally ALIVE! No, seriously – I’ve been in bed and seriously nursing the flu and then a cold for the last week, ringing in the new year in bed. I finally feel like I can get it together and get on the grind to start 2017. Hey, I’m only 7 or 8 days late – right? lol. Since I’m finally moving around and starting the year, I figured I would share my 2017 goals. These goals consist of those that are personal, blogging or anything in between. What I love about sharing them here on the blog, is that it kind of holds me accountable and that way I have no excuse but to keep on top of them. Let’s get started shall we?
1.) Lose Weight. This may seem like a given for anyone, especially those like me in my particular circumstance. But, the fact is – I’m slowly getting my health back in order and plan to not only continue eating healthier, but also really work on improving my self image and health overall – both physically and mentally.
Sub-goals: Make sure that I a) include more vegetables in my daily meal intake. b) try to eliminate the carbs and starches that plague me badly – i.e. reduce my rice, noodles and bread intake. c) reduce meal portion sizes while making sure I am eating through the day (my biggest issue is that I don’t have time to eat, so I must make time to eat). And, d) continue to increase my exercise daily.
2.) Be smart with purchases. Only buy new products when I’m running low or when I’ve actually run out of them. As a makeup addict, I often times find myself ooing and ahhing over the newest thing. In 2016, I did really well with purchases and didn’t purchase everything and anything that was newly released. This year, in 2017, I want to incorporate the same but really stick to it. After destashing and donating a lot of cosmetic items for 2016, I realized that I need to truly use what I already have. Money hard earned should be money well spent and buying makeup items only to have them sit since I only have one face, well – I have better things to do with my finances. I want to continue minimal self spending and splurging and continue to buy less – no matter what it may be… makeup, skin care, planners, pens, whatever.
3.) Get organized. This may seem like an easy task for someone like me who likes structure, but the fact of the matter is… I could do so much better. My desk – while I can find whatever it is I’m looking for, is a mess. While my time scheduling is organized and structured, my paperwork is a mess and I would love to bring more organization to my household overall. This may seem like an easy task for one person, but I balance the organization for a whole household of 5 members and I would love to be able to really kick it in gear and get it together.
Sub-goals: a) I would like to organize the paperwork on my desk and in my files. Trying to reduce paper clutter and keep it at a minimum, keeping only the papers that are needed. I would like to come up with a proper filing system so that I have an easier time with paperwork. b) I really need to organize our household better. Each month we take donations and try to keep clutter at a minimum, but I think there is so much more I could do. And, c) I need to organize my time better. This is important since I work from home. I need to be able to organize my work and home schedule to try and make sure I have enough time in the day to accomplish all the things I need to do.
4.) Wear my hair down more. This may seem like something that is already being done in my life… but the fact of the matter is, I still consistently wear my hair up in a bun or pulled back. I need to embrace my natural curls and my hair and really need to find the time and effort to get it under control so that I can wash and wear it easily – without constantly pulling it up. Since I wear my hair up so often, I am quite accustomed to not having anything in my face and that in it’s own is a difficult thing to get used to. My goal is to commit to wearing my hair down at least 2x a week so I can get used to it without sacrificing the “on-the-go” lifestyle I live.
5.) Wear more dresses or dress up more. Come on now, I have really never been a dress wearing girl. I’m a tomboy and will wear a pair of jeans or shorts with a t-shirt as much as possible if allowed. I would like to dress up a little more or wear more dresses so that I’m not so casual. There’s nothing wrong with dressing casually – it’s just that I do it so much, I forget what it is like to dress up sometimes. By putting on a dress or just adding a little more flair to my outfits, I think it would make a world of a difference.
6.) Eliminate the negativity and keep positive, striving for joy. This particular goal may seem like an easy one, but trust me when I say it has been anything but easy the last few years. I would like to do everything in my power to eliminate the negativity and strive for joy. By keeping the negative nancys out of my personal bubble and keeping positive aspirations, goals and overall happiness in my life – I think I can accomplish this goal. Spreading joy and happiness where I go while not feeding into others negative thoughts will make a huge difference in my life.
7.) Back to Lifestyle posts. Honeygirl’s World is technically a lifestyle blog and boy do I miss it. I feel like I’ve focused so much on product reviews or beauty and skin care over the last year, that I have lost sight of where my passion lies. I love sharing new products or reviews with all of you – but I also want to really incorporate more of my life on the blog. That is how I started blogging to begin with – to document my life’s story. So, my goal this year is to incorporate at least one lifestyle post a week. Whether it be to share my weight loss and health journey each week, post Sunday letters or just sum up life with my family each week – it’s my goal to go back to it and keep at it. Honeygirl’s World is my life, my world and I need to get back to my roots and remember where I started and how I got here.
Of course, a new year comes with new goals and I’m sure I’ll have a plethora more to add to this list as the year progresses. While many of these goals may seem a bit simplistic – it may not be that case for many because it’s all a matter of changing the way one thinks and how they proceed to do things. Since Honeygirl’s World is a lifestyle site, I plan to come back in the coming months and share how I’m accomplishing these goals and if I have had an positive change.
I wish all of you reading this a wonderful New Year. Whether you are making goals for yourself to accomplish or just plan on living life to its fullest, or both – may your year be filled with joy and happiness.

I’m quite impressed with myself – to be honest, that I was able to release most of my Holiday Gift Guides by the first week of December. Let’s all stand and give me a round of applause, shall we? lol – All kidding aside, I’m pretty happy with myself this year because I laid out a schedule and I kept with it. Today, I’m sharing with you a gift guide that I’m absolutely excited about, because it’s one of my favorites to do each year. When it comes to Stocking Stuffers, I find that they can be the easiest gift to buy for anyone on your holiday gift giving list. Why? Well, because anything that you can fit in a Christmas stocking goes… and for me – that means I get to pick up all the little nifty products that I would love to get or receive as a gift and it can always be something fun, practical or unpractical and definitely interesting. I have a wide list of products that fit into this list so this is going to be a long post – so without further adieu, let’s get started.
Hickies Lacing System is by far one of my favorite gifts to give for the holiday. Each pack is small enough to fit into a stocking (of most sizes) and anyone who wears shoes with traditional laces will love these. I own about 8 pairs myself, using them to change up my shoes from time to time and to fit my personality for the day. Sneaker designs change but one thing that remains the same, are laces. You’ll never have to tie a shoelace again and once you go Hickies, you’ll never go back to traditional laces.
Hickies come in a huge array of colors and sizes for adults and children and are so easy to put on and take off. Hickies is running a Winter Holiday Sale right now – purchase Hickies 1.0 for $13.99 (reg $14.99), Hickies 2.0 for $14.99 (reg $17.99) and Hickies Kids for $9.99 (reg $11.99)
Purchase Hickies at: https://www.hickies.com/
I couldn’t mention a cool pair of laces without mentioning something along the lines of fitness and the MilestonePod is definitely a great stocking stuffer. This little device is perfect for any runner or walker and whether you’re training for your first 5K or just getting into shape or staying active, this is the perfect gear for you. This wearable pod not only tracks your running metrics, but it also tells you when it’s time to replace your shoes and it helps to prevent many common injuries a new running should definitely have in their toolkit.
The Pod is easy to use. Simply clip the Pod onto your shoe once and leave it there. The Pod collects data as soon as it senses movement. The Pod is always ready to go and it knows when you start and stop. There is no need to run with your phone to keep track of the data and you can sync your Pod to the MilestonePod App to view detailed performance data and gait metrics. The Pod works everywhere, even indoors and no charging is needed.
The MilestonePod retails for $24.95 and can be purchased at: http://www.milestonepod.com/the-product/the-milestone-pod/

Pura Vida Bracelets retail for $5.00 each or you can select a Style Pack that retails for $65+. You can purchase your bracelet(s) from Pura Vida at: http://www.puravidabracelets.com/
When it comes to gift giving – I do my best to offer functional gifts to friends and family. A gift that you can expect from me or a stocking stuffer for all to see would be a reusable tote. Here in Hawaii, plastic bags are banned and unable to be given out at grocery markets so a great tote makes a perfect gift for anyone. Urban Market Bags to the rescue. With Urban Market bags you get 3 or 6 bags per drawstring pack which means you basically have your needs covered with bags should you need them.
Urban Market Bags come in contemporary colors that look great (I don’t know about you but I’m not a fan of that bright blue bag you get at one of those big box stores) and they are made of high quality, durable and machine washable fabric. What I love about them is that they fold up small to fit in a handbag or cupholder of your car as well as a Christmas Stocking and they are just perfect for everyday.Urban Market bags are great to take to the soccer or in my case football field, gym or grocery store and I love that you have three or more bags to take with you and have bags that are stylish.

Topperfino is a great coffee innovation, a chocolate topper that not only gorgeous but delectable.

Speaking of beauty lovers, lippies make great holiday stocking stuffers. Cream, these lip balms are so sleek and ready to rock out any pout.

The perfect little nail kit for the nail lover’s Christmas Stocking would be great nail wraps or decals. I was recently introduced to Glossique Nail Deco which makes it easy for anyone to have a gorgeous manicure at anytime. Say goodbye to dry-time, chipping and harsh chemicals and have a wonderful manicure for those holiday parties. I picked up a few of these to put in each of my nieces stockings this year because they are so fun and easy to use. Glossique offers a variety of different designs and they literally can be put on in minutes at anytime.
Glossique Nail Deco Decals retail for: $15.00 and can be purchased at: https://www.glossique.com/shop
Personalized gifts make great stocking stuffers too. Whether they are handcrafted using your own creativity or you utilize a service and put your own spin on things, I love a great personalized gift in my stocking. This cute square compact mirror you see here is a great gift. Retailing for $15.95 you can create your own by adding your own text and image. I used a photo of a sunflower that I took in my garden and added fun text that I love. The options are endless and you can personalize it with a family photo or anything you see fit.
Personalize your own gift at: http://www.zazzle.com
I certainly didn’t forget about the kiddos in our lives. Stocking Stuffers are so fun to shop for when it comes to kids because they are so happy to get fun little things that they can play with. My sons are no exception and I love that we can easily put small and fun gifts into their stocking and they will cherish it all. Lego Mixels are one of my favorite things to stash into a stocking each year. Mixels are created by Lego and are similar to basic lego in that you can build different characters utilizing a set of legos to create from. My sons love them and have quite a collection of these little guys so it’s always fun to add to their sets.
Lego Mixels can be purchased at different locations like Walmart, Target and other stores and I love that they range in price from $4.99 and up so there is a Mixels set for anyone.
The National Geographic Bug Dig Kits are something my sons love and that I love giving out as gifts. Each set allows you to dig up 3 real bugs and kids love to uncover these perfectly preserved insect specimens (spiny spider, fortune beetle and scorpion). Of course – there are a bunch of different bug kits online and National Geographic and Dr. Cool’s kits are our favorites. These make great stocking stuffers or gifts and offer an educational adventure for each child that gets one. Children will learn all about their speciments as well as many other fascinating anthropods and it becomes a cool interactive lesson with a hands-on science kit. The bugs can be kept and inspected in all angles as the bugs are preserved in transparent acrylic for easy examination.
These fun sets retail for about $10 – $20 and can be purchased here.
Like most of my gift guides this 2016 – this one is particularly lengthy, but I wanted to ensure to provide all of you, my readers with a variety of different things to help inspire your holiday gift shopping. Christmas is 13 days away and if you’re still out shopping, I definitely suggest checking out some of these finds. A few things I didn’t include in my gift guide but definitely suggest are:

As the season starts to change and the weather gets a tad bit chillier, the kiddos make their way back to school for the 2016-2017 year. I remember as a kid, going back to school was my favorite time of year because it meant that I would have the opportunity to impress a new set of teachers and meet new friends. My boys returned back to school at the beginning of August and while it has been a busy month so far, we are so excited and they have been absolutely loving school. Today I share with you a few of their favorite finds for Back to School from affordable selections that we love and a few Celebrity faves. Since back to school can be a fun time for kids or some may feel a bit uneasy, it’s the perfect time to pick up some new goods that will surely put a smile on your littles’ faces.
Going back to school after a fun summer break isn’t always easy for littles. But, finding cool Back to School gear and supplies always make for a great start. This year I wanted the boys to be able to develop their own sense of style (see the twins with their mohawks and sunglasses in the photo above? lol), but I also wanted them to select basics that would make their year fun and functional.
A quality made backpack is always an important part of back to school. My eldest Kevin has a full schedule of classes and a heavy workload and homework sometimes. It’s important that he has a backpack that can take him to and from school while still offering him the option to use for extra curricular activities and sports. His choice of gear for this year was the Mountainsmith Approach 25 backpack (retail: $89.95).
This multi-pocket backpack is perfect for on the go for work and office, school or sports, or for a hike to climb the highest summit. It features a dual-anel loader system which is idea for travel and trail), a front panel stretch-mesh pocket with daisy chain attachment loops, Anvil Airway ridged EVA back panel padding which make it comfortable on the back no matter what you carry in it, tool / trekking pole carry, side compression straps, dual side-panel mesh pockets, an internal hydration sleeve to hold 3 liters and an eleastic sternum strap and bit valve catch with a safety whistle.
This backpack is sturdy and unisex. He has it in burgundy with brick red trim and it looks stunning and manly. It’s comfortable on and Kevin can stuff this backpack with his school supplies and homework without worrying about it falling apart. It’s a great backpack to have for anyone of any age and is not only for school but anything. I plan to pick one up for myself as well since it will be great for my forest treks.
Luke opted for a fun and stylish backpack from Chooze. Chooze is a brand selected and loved by celebrities alike. Matthew McConaughey’s little girl is a huge fan of the versatile and affordable clothing and accessories Chooze offers. Luke wanted the reversible ChoozePack in Quest (retail $43.95).
These ingenious packs feature a reversible design that has two functional sides to give your kiddos the power to choose which print to display. It offers padded convertible straps (which Luke says are BOMB because they are so comfortable) and you can flip each strap from side-to-side to provide a different look.
Of course, no back to school list and gear would be complete without a way to carry your lunch and snack to and from school. Kevin opted for something he could use for school and sports and went with the Mountainsmith Takeout insulated lunch pack (retailing $17.95). It is the perfect sized carry-all for school, office and tailgating and has a look that any teen would enjoy.
To help carry his favorite mom’s delicious soups to school for lunch, he also selected the Hydro Flask Food Flasks. He has them in the 12 oz. (retails for $29.99) and the 18 oz. (retails for $34.99). These flasks are perfect to carry his favorite soups or a hot cocoa on those chilly mornings. They fit perfectly into any lunchbox and are the perfect way to give kids a balanced healthy meal. They offer improved temperature control technology and can keep hot food items made in the morning steamy until lunchtime. He also enjoys holding his milk in these and pours a small box of cereal inside for breakfast on the go.
Luke & Isaiah decided that getting a traditional lunchbox was the way they wanted to go this year. Each of them selected a Personalized Lunchbox from I See Me! (retailing for $29.99 each, currently on sale for $17.99. Isaiah chose the Kick, Score, Run Lunchbox and Luke chose the Outerspace Lunchbox. I See Me! is a brand and leader in personalized storyboks and gifts for kids, offering over 30 customizable book titles. They also offer lunch boxes, stickers, growth charts, puzzles and so much more. This fun company is a favorite of celebrities like Gwyneth Paltrow, Jessica Alba and Brooke Shields.
Did I ever mention how much I enjoy Quinoa? Well, I couldn’t resist putting some of these yummy snacks in the boys lunch boxes. I Heart Keenwah snacks are perfect for any kiddo on the go or to pack with their lunch. These Grab n Go (1.5 oz) snacks are great afterschool or lunch treats that taste great and are fun and nutritious. I Heart Keenwah quinoa Clusters and Puffs are a healthy alternative to chips, crackers or sweets. They are made of organic, Non-GMO ingredients. They are a protein-rich superfood snack and gluten-free with the perfect crunch to fill and fuel your little ones bodies. I love them myself and the boys think they taste great. We find them at our local Safeway and Wholefoods at a reasonable cost.
Setton Farms International Premium Quality Snacks are also a great buy. Our favorite are the Creme Brulee Blend that has cashews and toffee peanuts. The Creme Brulee Blend incorporates all the creamy sweetness and crunch of the traditional Creme Brulee without the spoon. It combines freshly roasted cashews and toffee peanuts with creamy butterscotch and white chips for an irresistible treat. They are available in 5 oz resealable bags and available in major grocery store chains across the country – Price Chopper, Market Basket, King Kullen and more. Setton Farms sent us a variety of treats to try but the Creme Brulee Blend is our favorite. I hope we can find more of these in our local stores, so far I’ve only found them at http://www.puritan.com/ and I’ll need to be purchasing more soon.
When it comes to back to school, the boys are simple shoppers which makes my job easiest. I remember as a child wanting to have all the pretty notebooks and pens for back to school supplies. This year, when I did the boys school supply shopping, I also took advantage of some discounts for myself too. Whether it’s Crayons or Pens, Notebooks and Planners or a tablet, the options are endless and come in a variety of price points. Some of our favorites included:
- Crayola Crayons 24 Pack – these are perfect on the go or to keep in the desk or at home. When shopping during the sales you can get these for about $0.25 each.
- Calendar or Planners – some of my favorites are the Blue Sky Planners from Target. Of course, you can’t go wrong with an Erin Condren Life Planner, Happy Planner or your traditional binder planners like Kikki K, Filofax or Dokibook.
- Pens – anyone who knows me, knows that I’m a huge pen collector. Some of my current favorites include the Paper Mate Ink Joy Gel 0.7mm Pens, Pilot Frixon Pens and Pilot G2.
- Pencils – Oh, how I love me some pencils. Currently my favorites at the moment are any type of Mechanical Pencil with 0.5mm lead, BIC Pencil 0.7mm (the metallic ones have won me over), Dixon Ticonderoga #2 Pencils (have you seen the beautiful metallic ones?) The Ticonderoga pencils are perfect for sketching as well as writing and erase cleanly.
- Notebooks – Spiral, composition tablet… you name them and they are available in all kinds of paper style and cover design.
- Folder / Filler Paper – ah, hand me a ream of college ruled please! The twins use Wide Ruled, Kevin uses College Ruled. I love that they are available from a variety of brands and price points.
- Amazon Fire Tablet – for less than $50, you can get your hands on a Tablet that acts as a Reader or Internet hub. The Amazon Fire Tablet is affordable but gives your student (or you) the option to get online, use amazing apps or just play games. It’s definitely a great tool to have for the student or the mentor.
Now – you don’t need to pick up these particular items. Honestly, I just wanted to include some of my favorite school supplies (or mommy supplies) because I was feeling a bit left out. lol
Last but certainly not least in our Back to School finds are some great threads. Each child is an individual and I really love seeing them shop and select their own clothing, accessories and shoes – even their own hair cuts. All three of my boys are simple guys but they do enjoy fun pops of color to their outfits and clothing selections. Whether it be plaid shorts with a solid color shirt or fun hats and accessories, the boys take pride in finding something to wear that is not only comfortable and functional – but reveals their style. Isaiah is absolutely enjoying his Rocket in Listen modern sneaker boot style shoes from Chooze ($54.95) and he wanted to show them to our readers today.
This modern sneaker boot style shoe comes with a side elastic gore added for comfort. It has a signature dual design with easy access side zipper entry making the shoe easy to take off and put on. It has padded throat for extra comfort and soft canvas uppers. The flexible support offers comfort while the removable, padded, anti-stink insoles make these the perfect footwear for an active little guy. They wipe clean easily with a damp cloth or can be washed in cold water and air dried. Chooze offers a variety of footwear designs for both girls and boys and they are stylish and fun to allow your child to make a statement all their own.
Luke likes a shoe that can allow him to run and play with a little swagger and Kevin, well – if he’s not in his Nike Basketball shoes most of the time, you can find him in a pair of flip flops (rubbah slippahs as we call them here in Hawaii) and a cool pair of shades to finish off his look. The boys were quite ecstatic to return back to school because the new school year meant that they were all beginning their football season for Pop Warner but most importantly, they got to go back to school and
learn… I mean, hang out with their friends, just kidding lol. The boys love school and love learning new things so shopping for new gear for back to school is always a huge highlight.
No matter what you decide to get for your child (or yourself) this Back to School season, make it fun and colorful and let it represent your own individual style. Have your kiddos gone back to school yet? If so, do they sport a relaxed and casual style or do they really like to dress up and have some fun? Wishing all the students a wonderful 2016-2017 school year filled with lots of fun, friendships and learning. From our house to yours… Aloha!

I love getting flowers for Anniversaries, Birthdays, Mother’s Day or “Just Because”, but I’m always open to fun ideas and little things that make these occasions fun, exciting and sentimental. While flowers are nice, I love finding products that are practical and will have a purpose. This year, I wanted to share a few items that I have been loving lately that would make GREAT Mother’s Day gifts. Whether you are buying this as a treat for yourself or making the day of that special mommy in your life, these gifts are definitely some that will make any woman happy. Read on if you want to check out this round up of Mother’s Day Gift Ideas.
I have had my fair share of great Mother’s Day gifts. My husband and I are so in-tune with one another that we usually know exactly the gift we want to get for one another or something that is practical and we’ll get a lot of use out of. My goal for this list is to offer a variety of goodies for any woman, whether the stay-at-home or work-from-home mom, busy business woman or the granny with style, these gifts will surely please.
Let’s start with a little makeup – shall we? I recently was introduced to Youngblood Cosmetics, a beautiful line of mineral cosmetics created by Pauline Youngblood. From Foundation to lipstick and everything in between, Youngblood Cosmetics offers a wide range of color cosmetics that is made with quality ingredients and great black and chic packaging. I have been using a few of the products from the line and look forward to trying more. Anything from Youngblood is gorgeous, but two of my favorites is the Pressed Mineral Eye Shadow Quad in Shanghai Nights ($43 USD) and Mineral Radiance Compact (pictured) in Splendor ($43 USD). Each or any of the products are perfect for the sophisticated woman that is looking to add a little color to their life or the makeup and beauty loving mom that wants to try something new.
A great cleansing oil and a fantastic mud mask is perfect for that mother in your life. One of my favorite gifts to give to my favorite gals is the Borghese Fango Active Mud Mask for Face and Body so I just had to include the Fango Active Duo Set as a gift option. This two piece set retails for $60 USD but the Fango Active Radiance Facial Oil retails for $60 on it’s own, so it’s like you get a free product or gift with purchase. This set is gorgeous and I love how Borghese products display on the vanity. The Radiance Facial Oil has a blend of botanical oils that help to transform the skin’s texture, soothe dull and dry skin and nourish and restore lipid loss due to aging and environmental damage. The Fango Active Mud for Face and Body is one of my holy grail masks, offering a detoxifying mineral-rich mask that hydrates and firms the skin while reducing fine lines and providing you with smooth and toned skin. Paired together, this not only makes a wonderful gift – but a great treat for anyone.
Can we just talk about the design of this unit for a second? My gosh, it’s so pretty and girly and would make the most wonderful Mother’s Day gift for any mom. The Michael Todd Soniclear Petite is one of my favorite skin cleansing tools. I have raved about it time and time again here on my site and would recommend ANY of these units for a gift. This cleansing tool is the petite version, smaller than the original and the elite but perfect for travel and comes with a universal USB enabled charger which makes this great for those on the go. It’s a waterproof unit with 3 speeds to help tailor to your cleansing needs and is antimicrobial. What makes it so great is not only the design (and the pattern) but that this product is reasonably priced at just $109.00. I seriously wouldn’t mind unwrapping one of these as a gift and I know it would make a fabulous present for anyone.
I wrote about these two products from LATHER on my blog a few weeks back and they continue to be favorites of mine so I know they would make any mom or mom to be happy. The LATHER coconut creme body whip ($22 USD) is one of my favorite body butter / lotions to date. I have used MANY, trust me, and I find that it not only smells yummy – it moisturizes my skin wonderfully and leaves a light fragrance that is so delish. This body creme is silky and whipped to perfection and my skin is left soft and hydrated for hours. This is the perfect creme for any mom or mom to be. I highly suggest this as a gift to that “mom to be” because this would make a great body creme to lather on the body while pregnant too. The Vanilla & Argan Lip Scrub ($10 USD) is a must have for anyone. It is moisturizing and tastes delicious and sloths away any dry skin on your lips leaving them plump and soft for your favorite lip product or for kiss… teehee. What’s great about these products is that they come from a great brand and are made with quality products.
With the summer months just around the bend, nothing says beachy and ready for some sun like a great tote. This gorgeous striped Sportswear Tote by Helly Hansen ($50 USD) is lightweight and the perfect bag to store your everyday essentials for all your summer fun activities. It’s available in three different colors: Navy, Aquamarine and Sorbet and has a shoulder strap and carry handles. Marine stripe fabric and detailing give this tote the perfect look for sporting and toting around this summer. As a handbag lover, I know that I would love to get this quality made bag as a gift this Mother’s Day.
The next gift is one of my favorites… for moms like me who like to take their hair ties and rubber bands and turn them into an unsightly fashion statement as we wear them on our wrists. The Bittersweet Hair Tie Bracelet ($45 USD) was created by Maria Shireen – a functional fashion accessories company. It was a gift from her husband as he had it designed and created so that she could eliminate the pressure on her wrist from the elastic bands but also make her hair tie look like a stylish bracelet, by creating a channel that holds the hair tie in place. Hello – total genius, simple, unique but functional. This bracelet has literally changed my fashion game up hugely. If you have seen any of my outfit posts here on the blog – then you know that I have turned my many hair ties into the ugliest thing to grace my wrist, but I NEED them at a moments notice so I keep them handy that way. Now with the Bittersweet bangle I can literally look fashion forward without being a fashion faux pas. This literally makes a great gift for any mom and I know they will make use of this bangle as much as I do. I love it so much – I have my eyes on the gold and rose gold too.
You can’t go wrong with buying your favorite mom a perfume for Mother’s Day and Pacifica Beauty offers a set of three for just $19 USD. The Daydreamer Roll-On Trio offers three delectable scents that would make any mother happy. Tuscan Blood Orange, Tahitian Gardenia and Indian Coconut Nectar (one of my favorites) this set offers a roll-on perfume for everyone. Pick up the whole set and gift it together or break up the set and make three mother’s happy this Mother’s Day. Pacifica offers cruelty free products and are available on their website: Pacificabeauty.com, Target and Ulta stores.
Now, of course – I know there are moms out there that may be stationery, planner, pen or paper addicts… like me. So, I wanted to make sure that I included something that would satisfy those moms too. I LOVE pens and some of my favorites come from PenGems and from their signature collection. I probably have 8 or 10 of them and I love them not only because of the way they write, but because they are beautiful, stylish and just a great statement to any planner, purse or notebook. Pens, pencils and notebooks can be great gifts for mom from children or grandchildren. I love searching through Target’s One Spot Dollar Spot section for cute notebooks, pens and pencils as well to give as gifts. You can get a great selection for about $1 to $3 and you’re bound to find something you will enjoy as well as the favorite mother(s) in your life. These kinds of gifts are easy to personalize and make great little presents to open.
Of course, we can’t leave out the techie gadgets and nothing says awesome like the gift of a camera. The Sony RX100 iv ($950.00) is the perfect gift to give that will help that special mom capture every moment that her family has. It’s compact and powerful. With the ability to capture images in 21MP at up to 16 frames per second and record videos in 4K or HD – this is the perfect camera for a beginner or camera enthusiast, offering an impressive compact camera for every day use or for special occasions.
Whatever gift you decide to get that mom or moms in your life, I’m sure it will be wonderful. These are just a little suggestions of products and goodies I’ve been loving lately. Of course, as I mentioned previously – I love flowers and welcome them with open arms (especially my favorites) but when you want to think a little outside of the box, some of these presents would be perfect gifts for your loved one. I look forward to Mother’s Day each year because it reminds me that being a Mommy is so much more than presents – it’s love and happiness year round. I look forward to my sons making me beautiful handmade cards that take them hours to complete and while Mother’s Day is everyday in my house, I think it’s a day worth celebrating. Besides, I wouldn’t be a mother myself without the help from my mom and those that have come before me… right?

Have you ever had those days when you wake up and feel like an epiphany has completely taken over your body? The feeling overwhelms you and leaves you stunned and in awe. I swear, it seems like over the last month I have been going through this very thing several times a week. It delights me that I can go to bed in the evening and wake up the next morning with my head filled with thoughts that I simply can’t wait to get onto paper. This has been my routine lately and my mind is telling me to pay attention to the signs as they are what my heart is telling me my soul wants. In 2015, everything I did and everything I strived for had to do with self discovery, finding out who I am and what I want out of life. It was about growth, not only for myself but my family and about strength because we had to really rely on one another to ensure success or simply to just get by. This year, I want to take everything I learned from 2015 and incorporate it into my personal “Planner” so to say, that will enable success and ultimately, help me to achieve my life goals. Let’s face it, living life is an accomplishment already and last year was a challenge all its own.
So, what’s in store and what’s new for Honey? Well, first of all I really feel like over the years I lost my identity and who I truly am and last year after really accomplishing so much more than I thought I ever could personally, I realized that the little changes I made to my routine and myself created a monster. Not the scary, freaky and ugly kind, but the kind that really wasn’t satisfied with everything or anything. I should be tapping myself on the back, applauding my accomplishments and realizing that not only am a I strong, confident and beautiful woman but that I attained and superseded a plethora of goals I had and I didn’t even realize it.
“I would like to be known as an intelligent woman, a courageous woman, a loving woman, a woman who teaches by being.” – Maya Angelou
This year 2016 my mind has been made up. My goal is to engage in my thoughts and bring them all to life. Like an artist takes to his canvas or a writer to paper, my plan is to really embrace who I am as a person and use that as my strengths, not my weaknesses. One of the things I plan to do is start with making changes to my blog – I know, I know, yet again. I realized a lot about myself last year and that is that I lost my sense of personal identity on my site. I found that I was producing content that lost my personal sense of style. I love doing product reviews and I really truly enjoy trying new products and new things – but I lost the embodiment of what Honeygirl’s World really is… My World, My Life – the things I love. My site turned into a plethora of beauty (which isn’t a bad thing), but while my reviews showcased my personality, I felt that I still lost a lot of who I really am. This year I plan to incorporate more of me into the site and retro back to what it used to be when I first starting blogging. My site will not only be for reviewing my favorite products, but sharing bits and pieces of who I am and what I love. I kind of feel like all of that got lost over the years and I plan to bring it all back. I started Honeygirl’s World as a way to document my life and that is where I plan to take it once again.
So what can you expect from me? Well, as if I wasn’t a blatantly honest soul – you can expect that much and more. I really want to hold myself accountable for all the things that I let slack over the years. My goal is to keep on top of YouTube, posting three or more videos a week – we’ll see how that turns out and just keep that portion of my life much more organized. I want to really keep on top of my blog – posting 5x or more a week, preferably more and work at keeping the content fresh and exciting but also weave in so much more of myself that you’ll feel like we are bff’s and know me on a personal level. I want to also check off things from my bucket list and in order to do that I must be more diligent and really make this “Stay at Home, Work From Home Mom” thing work. I want to make even more time for family… my family – my husband and children are my everything and so this year I plan to really be “Super Mom & Wife”.
“You can fail at what you don’t want, so you might as well take a chance at doing what you love…” – Jim Carrey
In a week, I’ll be turning 36 years old and I’ve reached that point in my life where I don’t think I’m even old… the 30’s are the new 20’s anyway. I’ve embraced my looks, my beauty and what I look like on the outside so now I just need to embrace my beauty on the inside and continue to feed my soul. Will you be on this journey with me? I hope you’ll stick around and see!
Wishing you all a wonderful 2016 and a year filled with endless blessings and happiness!
Well, I wasn’t going to do all of these Gift Guides and not have one for children. My boys would be pretty disappointed in me if I had forgotten about them. lol There are so many gifts you can buy for your kids and while there are some really easy ones to find, sometimes shopping for your favorite little person can be a challenge. My gift guide is mainly focused around boys – since, let’s face it, I have boys – but I also included some fun gifts that would make great additions to any little ones list. Without further adieu, here’s my list of cool presents for kids.
The first thing on the boys lists of presents is almost always… Legos. While we certainly all enjoy legos in our household, my feet don’t quite like them – for obvious reasons. But now a days, you can find lego designs on everything from shirts and pajamas to video games and movies. It’s a tried and true brand and one that my family loves and enjoys. Lego provides my sons (even my husband and I) a way for a creative outlet without the mess of paint or scissors and while the little pieces are a bit too much for the young ones, they make great gifts for kids to help build their fine motor skills, thinking and problem solving.
My boys have well over 20000 pieces I’m sure because we try to buy at least one Lego set a holiday or birthday for each child. But, if Legos are not the right gift for your little one – Lego also offers a free subscription to the Lego magazine and Mega Blocks make a great alternative for toddlers. Each of my sons had Mega Blocks as a part of their building and growing and when they were old enough – I transitioned them to Legos.
Another favorite in our house are videos games. My children only get a few video games a year because they don’t play them often, but each year we definitely get our hands on fun family games like Just Dance 2016. It allows us to not only have some fun as a family, but get in some great cardio too. A new game I’ve had my sights on this year is Back To The Future The Game. I’m a huge Back to the Future fan as are the kids (the whole family), so it would make a fun family game for all of us. There are other games we enjoy to play and Wits and Wagers is such a fun one for the whole family, though my eldest enjoys it because it has so many great trivia questions. Besides, WE LOVE board games.
Books, Books and more books. We have a huge library in our tiny house filled with fun books for the boys and for the adults. Any type of book from Cat in the Hat and Dr. Seuss to Ramona and Beezus make great additions to any library. I-Spy books are also a fun one to read together and I love buying books from my childhood for the boys like The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, To Kill a Mockingbird or Maniac Magee which are three of my childhood favorites.
Dr. Cool Kits are some of my absolute favorites and the boys love them too. These awesome kits have digs that are a learning experience and are truly fun for the whole family. Some of our favorites are the Real Bug Dig Kit and the Ultimate Geode Science Kit. All of the kits available from Dr. Cool are very interactive, a great learning experience and would make fantastic gifts.
Another Gift idea that tends to be overlooked are crayons and coloring books – craft projects in general. These dandy little gifts make great things for travel or keeping your little people active and occupied. I carry a small box of crayons in my purse most of the time so that the boys can always color one of the many coloring books we have spread out at home or in the car or they can color in a book or planner I have in my bag. Never underestimate the power of a bunch of colored wax utensils for this reason. Coloring books are fun for teenagers too. My eldest colors in my “adult coloring books” and he enjoys them. Coloring is great for hand and eye coordination but also makes for a wonderful gift for anyone of all ages.
Buying gifts for children can be a challenge sometimes – especially if you don’t know much about a child and you’re shopping without any idea as to what they would like. I find that pulling for staple gifts such as some of these I have listed, I have a pretty sure bet that they will enjoy their present. Everything I buy for children tends to have some form of learning in it – even if they have no idea that it does and it makes gift giving fun knowing I’m buying something that the child or children will benefit from. If you’re shopping for a girl – please don’t rule out some of these gifts as many of these can be universal for all children and when it comes to Legos, well – the brand makes sets that are geared towards girls as well.
Happy Shopping for those little ones in your life, I hope you have lots of fun and this list helped to bring you a little peace of mind.

Christmas is my favorite time of year and quite frankly, my favorite Holiday. As a child I saved up my money all year round so I could buy the perfect gift for my family members and I still find myself excited for gift giving till this day. One of my favorite things to shop for are stocking stuffers. These tiny little gifts are fun and interesting and they don’t need to be large or come in big over-sized packaging. While jewelry definitely is a nice stocking stuffer to get, there are a lot of options available on the market for the whole family. Today I’m going to share with you some of my picks for the perfect little stocking stuffer treats. These are some suggestions of products I have been enjoying lately or ones that I wouldn’t mind receiving myself. Let’s get started.
Beauty Junkees 8 piece Pro Series Brush Set $39.97 – I just had to include this brush set in this guide. My husband has bought me brushes each year for the last few years as Holiday gifts and I always love them.
