Oh Mascara… a product that really makes your eyes pop but that I’m so critical of when it comes to finding and trying new brands.  I’ve been told by so many people that mascara basically is the same for each brand, but that the wand is what makes a difference.  I truly beg to differ.  I am the only one out of all of my siblings that got stuck with the itty bitty lashes from birth.  There’s absolutely no hope in finding them longer over night and while some lash conditioners and strengtheners may work, it’s always temporary.  Because of this, I’m constantly on the hunt for a mascara that I can consider a holy grail and that will work for my hopeless lashes.  Over the last few months I had the opportunity to try out a mascara I had never heard of before:  Bellimisa Masterful Eyes Mascara.  And, today I share my overall thoughts with all of you.

Bellimisa Masterful Eyes Mascara is the signature mascara from the brand.  The company states that the mascara lengthens, shapes and defines your lashes – giving them an immediate volumizing effect with a water-resistant finish.  It has film forming agents that provide maximum quality and staying power while vitamin E and peptides keep your lashes healthy and conditioned.  Masterful Eyes Mascara is also safe for sensitive eyes (like mine) and cruelty free.  Bellimisa Masterful Eyes Mascara is free of Parabens, DEA/TEA, Propylene Glycol and Harmful Preservatives.  It yields various benefits like Vitamin E which is an antioxidant and lash conditioner and Peptites that help enhance growth and restructuring of the lash.

Now that you are armed with all the information on the product itself, let’s talk details – shall we?  Bellimisa is an interesting mascara and so far after using it the last month or more I’ve been enjoying the brush/wand hourglass shape, it’s really allowed me to get close to my natural lash line and coat from the root to the tip.  However, since I have such small and thin lashes, I feel like this mascara just doesn’t have enough oomph to really coat my lashes and give them the affect I’m looking for.

I’m used to a mascara that has a mousse like texture that allows for coating of my lashes while providing length and grasping each of my tiny little lash hairs.  This falls short in the length and the volume aspect when it comes to my lashes.  I feel like the color is not dark enough, and it doesn’t add to my lashes, but makes my already small lashes look small.  Layering this mascara or building it up can also pose a problem, because while it is water resistant, the more layers you put on, the quicker the mascara starts to leave little bits of product on my cheek bone and below my eyes.

Here’s the deal – we all know I keep it 100 here and I love sharing products I adore, but I’m also realistic, not every mascara will work for me and my needs.  I have crappy lashes – plain and simple and there are few mascaras that can yield great results for me that are on the market today.  But, here’s what I do love about Bellimisa – over the last month and a half or so of using the product, I have found that my lashes seem stronger, much more conditioned than before and I do notice that there is less shedding of my lashes than previously.  While this mascara doesn’t necessarily give me the va-va-voom look I yearn for in a mascara, it’s a perfect (one to two coat) mascara that I can use daily to lightly enhance my eyes while still conditioning and strengthening my lashes.

Bellimisa offers a cool subscription service which allows you to replenish your mascara either monthly or bi-monthly at a discounted rate of just $16.00 a tube or you can decide to pay by a one-time purchase of $28.00 per tube if you decide not to go with the subscription.  You also have the option of customizing your subscription with additional products from the line like the Natural Fiber Brow Gel, Hydrating Silk Remover or Cleansing Sponges should you decide you want more.

Honestly, I think that it’s great that a mascara offers so many great benefits and I think that someone who has longer lashes will most likely love this mascara.  It’s not the mascara’s fault that I ended up with small lashes when I was born, but it also means that I tend to be a lot more selective when it comes to mascara.  I think that ultimately – you won’t know if a mascara works for you unless you try it for yourself… and in my case, this particular one helps with the health of my lashes, but doesn’t offer me the benefit of length and volume that I seek.

I think that it is impressive that it made your lashes feel stronger and more conditioned, and to me that is a decent trade-off. While Vavavavoom lashes are great, so are healthy, conditioned ones!

I have long lashes, but I agree with your points on this mascara. It doesn’t volumize enough and leave quite enough dark color. But I like it as an everyday mascara, and I feel good about using it on my sensitive eyes.

  3. For me this is a good daily mascara, I’m wearing it today as a matter of fact. I don’t get va-va-voom like I’d like but my lashes show and they don’t flake.

  4. I have very tiny – peach fuzz – eyelashes as well, and struggle with finding the right mascara. With mascara, my eyelashes look like normal people’s lashes without mascara!

I like the brush too but agree with that it is probably best for a natural rather than dramatic look

That’s too bad it’s a miss, but it’s so true, mascara is a really personal product. Not all work out. I love that lip colour, btw!

    • I tried… it doesn’t layer very well… after the second coat it will start to flake. I’ve been just trying to use it on it’s own to help condition my lashes and it’s been my everyday mascara so far. It doesn’t offer length or volume I would like but I like that my lashes are not stiff and crunchy and nourished after removing them.
