As we near the end of October 2016, I figured I would share with you a few products from brands that support the Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign.  While Breast Cancer Awareness is widely publicized each year in the month of October, the fact is – this cancer and others do not discriminate and attack all times of the year so it’s important that we do our best to be aware of what is out there and support the cause in the best way possible.  “Think Pink” has been a way of supporting those we love and it can be done every day of the year, not just in October.  I have been touched by cancer many times in my life, after losing my uncle Allen (my dad’s brother) to Leukemia when I was just a baby, I remember how it has affected my family and Lung Cancer, ALS and Breast Cancer have all been contributions to loss in my family over the years.  It is something I whole-heartily support and awareness is important for everyone.  Today I’ll be sharing with you a few products and brands that support the Breast Cancer Awareness cause and campaign so that the next time you’re shopping, you can “think pink” too.

Travalo is one of my favorite girly beauty items.  It’s not your traditional makeup item, but I love scents and I love to smell good – so Travalo allows me to take my fragrance on the go with me.  This October, Travalo – the leader in travel fragrance options, has partnered with Bright Pink.  Bright Pink is on a mission to save women’s lives from breast and ovarian cancer by empowering them to live proactively at a young age.  Bright Pink is the only national non-profit organization focused on prevention and early detection of breast and ovarian cancer in young women.

In the month of October, 25% off all sales of the Travalo Excel, Class HD and Milano pink models will be donated to Bright Pink.  Consumers will be supporting Bright Pink’s goal to reach 52 million young women in the U.S. between the ages of 18 and 45, while continuing to have the ability to refill fragrances directly from a standard bottle through the patented and unrivaled Genie-S pump fill system from Travalo.

Another product I love and have raved about here on the blog over the last couple of months is WINK by Amalie.  #PinkWINK is a campaign I discussed here, and is part of their BOGO for the Cure Campaign.  For every bottle of WINK that is sold during the month of October, Amalie will donate one bottle to a cancer survivor to help them regrow their lashes and brows that are lost through chemotherapy.  This is one of my favorite campaigns for Breast Cancer Awareness because often times we don’t think about the challenges a survivor of breast cancer (or any cancer for that matter) will endure.  WINK is also one of my favorite beauty products as I have noticed huge results from using this product over the last 3-4 months.

This October, the all natural hair care brand Hair La Vie and all natural foot care brand Baby Foot will also be joining the fight.  Each company will be donating 20% of their October sales to help the fight against cancer.

Hair La Vie is one of my all time favorite hair supplements and I’m proud to share with you their campaign for this year.  Through their innovative, results-oriented line of nourishing hair supplements and natural hair products, Hair La Vie is in the business of making women not only feel good about their hair, but about themselves.  Hair La Vie is also a brand that strives to help causes that they hold dear to their heart and they make it a top priority for them – especially women’s health issues.  For the month of October, Hair Lav Vie will be donating 20% of their sales profits to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

While October is coming to an end in a few short days,  you still have some time to check out some of these sites and support the cause.  I am a believer that support for any type of charity or campaign should happen all year long and that’s why my family and I give back to these causes several times through out the year, but I think it’s awesome that companies do this too.  I have been easily discouraged over the years by other companies that have exploited the cause of these campaigns, but I’m thankful that there are some great ones out there for positive benefit of those that need it.  I have included items that I think would help make any woman (or man) feel wonderful and positive no matter their struggle.  Whether it be to help with strengthening and regrowing their hair or lashes/brows, pampering themselves after long hours of chemo and recovery, or bringing a little swagger with a signature scent… I think these brands offer great products with a great cause.   Help support the cause and consider these items when you are online shopping.

About 2 months ago, I introduced you all to Wink by Amalie.  Wink is a Lash & Brow Oil that was formulated to be a natural solution for regrowing lost lashes and brows.  I raved about how the product has worked for me and I’ve been using WINK now for over 3 months and have been loving how my lashes feel, the length I’m able to see and how nourished my lashes are looking.  Since it is October, which happens to be Breast Cancer Awarenss Month, I wanted to reshare some information on Wink and their awesome Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign.

About the Campaign…

For every bottle of WINK sold during the month of October, Amalie will donate one bottle to a cancer survivor, to help them regrow lashes and brows that are lost through chemotherapy.  Amalie changes EVERYTHING to pink starting October 1st at midnight.

What is the source of inspiration for the campaign?

This campaign was inspired by Amalie’s customers.  Many cancer warriors were purchasing WINK and emailing the brand afterwards to say how awesome WINK was for them (especially for their confidence) during the recovery.

We must work together to make this year’s campaign bigger than ever.  The Campaign originally started in 2014 and the charities Amalie works with are consistently running out before the year is over.  WINK is constantly voted by recipients as one of their favorite products in their post treatment bags.  My goal is to bring awareness to this campaign while sharing with you the details so that we can get at least 2500 unites of WINK to these charities to get through 2017.  Last year Amalie donated just under 1000 bottles of WINK so while the goal is more than double the amount, together – we can rock this  year’s record.

How can you help?

When you purchase Amalie Beauty’s WINK oil – Amalie will donate one bottle to a cancer warrior.  The cause is great and I think it’s a fabulous way to help support cancer survivors.  Buy purchasing your WINK Lash and Brow Oil, you can help someone in need of this lash serum.

Here are all the details:

The campaign duration is from October 1st (Midnight EST) to October 31st.  Be sure to make your purchase at: www.amaliebeauty.com/products/wink.  Spread the word with Hashtags:  #BOGOfortheCure #PinkWINK to bring awareness to this campaign.

If you’ve been following my blog for a while, then you know that I have a love hate relationship with my lashes.  Let’s face it, in the age and time where beauty is all about the lashes and I have none, it can be a bit disappointing.  I have tried many many products over the years that have helped my lashes grow and condition them, but nothing is a fix all or cure all kind of thing.  So I’ve learned over the years that I need to just protect these sparse looking hairs and hopefully they’ll decide to love me back one day – lol.  All kidding aside, I do have short and thin lashes.  I attest that to my Filipino and Chinese heritage, but it’s sad to admit that my siblings all have long lashes and I was left out of the gene pool.  My brother’s lashes are so long that as a kid, he hated being told he was so cute because of them and tried to cut them off… but that’s a different story.  Over the last month and a half (more or less), I’ve been using the Wink Lash and Brow Oil and I feel I’m finally comfortable sharing my thoughts with all of you.  Let’s get into it, shall we?

Wink Lash and Brow Oil, brow oil, lash oil, wink, amalie beauty, Amalie, beauty, makeup, grow lashes, longer lashes, thicker lashes, makeup, skin care, review, product review, beauty,

The Wink Lash & Brow Oil is a natural solution for regrowing lost lashes and brows that retails for $40.00.  Each bottle you receive for that price is a 2 month supply of the nourishing oil which can be used on both your lashes or your brows.  Amalie claims that you will receive visible results at 2 weeks and full results at 8-12 weeks.  As I mentioned before, I’ve been using this oil for just over a month and apply it each night to help restore the strength of my lashes, thickness and to help with length.  This hypoallergenic beauty oil should give your lashes and brows a more lush, full appearance, enhancing your natural beauty.

So let’s talk about the product and how it has worked for me so far.  I mentioned previously that I’ve used a variety of serums and products to help with eye lash grow, so I was quite familiar with what “could” happen when using this product.  Immediately I found that applying the product the first few times lent to be a bit messy for me.  I wouldn’t consider that the fault of the product, but I just didn’t get a grip on application the way I had expected the first few times.  The applicator is easy to use, you simply twist up till some of the product starts to dispense and run the brush dispenser along your lash line taking care to not get product in your eye.  Well, I did get product in my eye – many times… but it didn’t burn my eyes thankfully and I lived to tell this tale.  The oil is definitely oily so you will feel it on the eye lid if you put too much… but I find that that is also a benefit as I can apply a little bit and rub it into my lash line (of course, it took me a few tries to figure that out) and I wound up liking how it felt on my eyes.  I didn’t have any breakouts or sensitivities to the product which was great.

After two weeks of using the product, I found that the area on my lash line that was sparse or didn’t have much lashes was starting to sprout little hairs.  I also noticed that my lash line looked a little thicker with just a few coats of mascara.  Since my lashes are thin, sparse and short, I liked that I was starting to notice the difference so quickly.  After using the product for about 35 days, I noticed length in my lashes.  Now, let’s be honest here, my lashes are so short, they don’t even protect my eyeballs, so I’m not talking about extreme length.  But, when I apply mascara and actually can see my lashes peeking through – that is a big deal, since they are not normally that easy to see.

I know most lash cycles are about 35 – 45 days and I would like to say mine is at about 35 days when they just stop growing, giving me minimal length no matter what I do.  The Amalie Beauty Wink Lash & Brow Oil actually helped to thicken my lashes (not dramatically, but enough to where I noticed) but most importantly, I enjoyed seeing an increase of little hairs growing on my lash line.  Because of the increase of those little hair grow, I also noticed that my lash line looked thicker and my lashes looked like it had more volume.  I also noticed the length pretty easily, which is a big deal since I don’t have much of it to begin with.  Now – I’m not saying these gave me Kim Kardashian lashes (yes, they are real most of the time – I asked her makeup artist personally… lol), I did notice the length and the growth, even if it wasn’t a lot – it made a difference.

In this photo I’m using one coat of mascara on lower & upper lashes – no retouching has been done. This photo taken with my phone Samsung Note 4

In my photograph above I take the photo of me using mascara on my lower and upper lashes.  It may not seem like much, but normally I tight-line to create a more defined and fuller look to my lashes and this time and lately I haven’t been doing so.  This photo was taken with one coat of mascara on my upper and lower lashes.  Because I have more hair near my lash line, it gives me a full look without having to tight-line.

Created and developed by friends, one of which removed her lash extensions to find she needed help after she had sparse and non-existent ones (read more about the story here), I was excited to try something new.  I think considering the price point that you can find on some of the lash growth products on the market today, this product is reasonably priced.  Let’s also talk about the comfort factor, these do not burn the eyes if they get into your eyes – which for my sensitive eyes, that is a HUGE plus.  I did notice length, fuller lash line and thicker lashes.  I also noticed that my lashes look healthier and feel nice.  It’s been really nice using this product and I think I’ll continue using it to help condition and strengthen my lashes.

Ingredients: Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Himalayan Cherry/Dhatelo Seed (Prinsepia Utilis Oil), Aleurites Moluccana (Kukui) Seed Oil, Rubus idaeus (Raspberry) Seed Oil, Argania Spinosa (Argan) Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Oil , Punica Granatum (Pomegrenate) Seed Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Tocopherol, Glycerin, Sodium Levulinate, Sodium Anisate.

Amalie and Wink also have a very awesome Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign.  Every October, for every bottle of Wink sold, Amalie donates one bottle to a cancer warrior, to help regrow their lashes and brows lost through chemotherapy.  Last year Amalie donated just under 1,000 bottles of Wink, setting a new record.  This year they plan to kick their past record’s butt again so if you are interested in trying Wink for yourself, keep this fabulous campaign in mind and help support cancer warriors.

I am a huge believer in natural products and those that do not irritate my body, my eyes or my skin are always a plus.  I’ve been enjoying using Wink the last month and I plan to continue using this a few times a year to keep my lashes looking great.  I’ll follow up in a few months or a year and let you know how my progress goes and I’ll keep you updated along the way.

Check out Amalie Beauty for details on Wink and other products.  I’ll be writing about their Shine Oil soon.  http://www.amaliebeauty.com/products/wink
