Thanks for stopping by and Happy Holidays!

Let me be real with you all for a second… when asked, “What is your no makeup makeup look?”  I’ll straight up answer you with… “Um, no makeup – at all!”

But, It’s absolutely no secret that my every day makeup look (if I am using any makeup that is) is mascara and a lippy and on most days.  Since I really do not use makeup, but I want to add a little sexy to the mix, I’ll pull out my big guns, my heavy hitters… my HG products.  So today, in collaboration with a few gals from the Beauty Blogger Collab, I’m bringing to you my “no makeup” makeup look.  This is what I put on when I need a little swag in my look, but still want minimal makeup.  Of course, like I mentioned earlier – if you are looking for a look with literally no makeup, well – that works too 🙂

All About The Summer Glow, No Makeup - Makeup Look http://honeygirlsworld.com

So let’s chit chat a little about what my no-makeup makeup look is.  I definitely want to look polished and put together and it all starts with great skin and my skin care regime.  To give me that fresh dewy look that I love, I make sure to cleanse, add my favorite serums like Hyaluronic Acid and Anti-Wrinkle serum and then finish with a great moisturizer.  These products alone give me a natural glow and really freshen up my face and my look.  It’s essential that I do this each day to keep a youthful appearance.

All About The Summer Glow, No Makeup - Makeup Look http://honeygirlsworld.com

My basic and daily makeup products for me are mascara and lip balm so mascara and a lippy of choice is a definite must have.  My lashes are really short, so if I have clear eye lash glue on hand, I’ll slap on a pair of flirty false lashes, but today I opted for a few coats of mascara to help open up my eyes.  Since I have my eyeliner tattooed, adding mascara to my lashes not only opens my eyes more but also enhances my tattooed liner and makes my lash line look fuller.  My lips are another thing… if I am not pulling for a colored lip balm, I’m reaching for my favorite nude lippies to help enhance my pout.  Usually my no-makeup look would stop there, but if I want to add a little something extra, I’ll add a blush, highlight and a light contour.  Applying these with a light hand are key to get that sunkissed and radiant look that adds a little to your makeup but keeps them guessing if you have anything on.

Here are the products I used on my look today:

  • Brows – For my brows, since they are shaped fairly well and are full, I used my NYX Control Freak Eye Brow Gel.  (Review here)  I swept this product over my brows to set them in place for the day.
  • Lashes – Since I have short lashes, I like to layer certain mascaras to make my lashes stand out without false eyelashes.  Today I used my Covergirl Super Sizer mascara layered with Benefit’s Roller Lash.  These two lashes paired together help to give me some length and volume without looking spidery or clumpy.
  • Lips – One of my absolute go-to lippies for an “every day” or no-makeup look is MAC’s High Tea.  This lipstick is the perfect nude with a gloss texture and offers the perfect color to compliment my pout.
  • Bronzer – To add a little warmth, a light bronze and some subtle contouring I used Laura Geller’s Bronze-n-Brighten Baked Color Correcting Bronzer in medium.  Using a domed bronzing brush I light dust this all over the areas I want to give a subtle bronze look.  It’s not about contouring but more about a light definition.
  • Blush & Highlight – For a little color to my cheeks and a soft highlight I used my Laura Geller Blush-N-Brighten in Como.  This combination has a blend of pink and gold to offer the perfect amount of color to your cheeks and a gorgeous peach gold highlight so the sun looks like it is perfectly kisses your cheeks.  With a fluffy brush I lightly dust this on the applies of my cheeks and blend onto my cheek bone.
  • Set your makeup – To set and put that nice dewy look back into my face, I spritz on one of my favorite facial sprays.  Today I used my Evian Mineral Water Spray.  Since it is warm, this is perfect to cool me down but also give my makeup that effortless, no-makeup look.

All About The Summer Glow, No Makeup - Makeup Look http://honeygirlsworld.com

My normal “no-makeup” makeup look is pretty easy and simple to create but it puts a little pep in my step and still gives me that “put together” look without using too much.  If I go with a basic look (mascara and lippy) or add a little blush, bronze & highlight – it’s something you can definitely see me rocking out most of the time.  If I were asked what my go-to look for Summer is, this is it.

So what are your favorite go-to’s to create that “no-makeup”?  When I say “no makeup” I mean it, but sometimes we could use a little style and flair to our look, don’t you think?  Be sure to stop by and check out the links below for the no-makeup makeup looks of the lovely ladies from the Beauty Blogger Collab.

Smooches! xo

“Forever & Always!”

Oh Fall… where are you?  Maui is super hot and humid and man I would love some cool chilled air my way, but it just hasn’t been so lately.  It was so warm today that a tank and shorts was on my outfit list… less is better, right? (did I just say that? lol)  So here is my Plus Sized Outfit of the Day…

OOTD Old Navy

You know in Hawaii we rock out flip flops like they are about to be discontinued, lol.  So here is my super quick outfit for going out and tackling Costco with my three sons.  Overall I have to say it was a fun day… we picked up my lil sis and spent a few hours with her while we tackled some errands… overall, I consider it a WIN.

  • Top – Love is Forever Graphic Tank from Old Navy
  • Bottoms – Denim Bermudas/Cut offs from Torrid
  • Flip flops – Guess
  • Watch – Invicta
  • Sunglasses – Maui Jim
  • Necklace – And I always get a lot of questions about my Teddy Bear Necklace.  Sadly I don’t know where it is from, my husband bought me this pendant before we had children, over 10 years ago.  I have heard that some jewelers carry it – but I have not seen it at local stores.

OOTD Old Navy

For my makeup today… I really was aiming to bring Fall into my life, even if it meant I had to do my makeup like Fall was in full swing. lol I also have had my Tamanna palette now for a couple of weeks and each opportunity I have I try to play with new shade combinations and had a few in mind I wanted to pair today. Since I only really wear makeup once a week, I was sure gonna make sure to get some makeup lovin’ in.

No face makeup today… did I mention it was hot? Yup, that means no blush, bronzer… na da… too hot. lol

FOTD Tamanna Palette

I’ve been working on a review for the Tamanna palette, and hope to have it up soon since I see that it is still available.  It drives me nuts when things are limited edition and I have to run out and get them because I just have to have it, but that also means that by the time I have had it long enough for me to actually state my thoughts on the product… I don’t get around to it.  Ooh – and on another note… have you seen my hair?  I know these pictures don’t show it well, but I went dark again… I’m actually really diggin’ it.

This plus sized girl was all about comfort and cool today.  I have been loving the Old Navy Tees and Tanks that they have been releasing lately and I’m all about a graphic tee if it means I can be comfortable.  I love those types of shirts for underneath my slouchy sweaters especially… now if Fall can just make its way here so I can start using them. lol  Wishing you all a wonderful Aloha Friday and a kick ass weekend.

I am pretty behind in sharing my monthly favorites.  Sadly I actually filmed a video for August favorites, uploaded it to YouTube and never got around to sharing it… so I decided I would delete it.  Honestly, do you know how many times that happens… I have so many videos I upload without release and realize 2 months or more later that the information I talked about or my thoughts on the subject are no longer accurate. lol Oh well, C’est la vie!  You can consider this my September Favorites… but it’s really a combination of products that I’ve been liking lately.  Without further adieu, let’s get busy. lol

Have you tried Benefit’s Creaseless Cream Shadows?  I have had my eyes on them for a while and I was totally stoked that I got my hands on two of them.  Like with all Benefit products, the packaging definitely caught my eye first.  They look like little bonbons to me and I thought they were so cute – even more so that they came in cute little round boxes.  So what are my thoughts on them?  Keep reading and see what I think 😉

Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow

These cream shadows come in 10 awesome colors.  I own two of them – Bronze Have More Fun (a gorgeous bronze brown) and Bikini-Tini (a perfect for neutral looks – cream color shade).   Each pot retails for $20.00 on Benefit’s Website and you get a Net wt. of 0.16oz/4.5g worth of product.   On average you are getting about the same amount of product in your pot as other brands offer but honestly, to me – formulation is very different and the packaging is just too adorable.

Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow copy

So – what do I love about these cream shadows?  Well, first – what isn’t there to love.  I love MAC Paint pots and Maybelline Color Tattoos… but these are very different.  In my opinion the Benefit Cream Shadows have a mousse like texture.  Because of it’s awesome texture, it applies so effortlessly and blends very easily on my eye lids without tugging.  Not only is it a great base for your favorite shadows, I absolutely love that I can wear the colors I have for a quick wash of color in my 5 minute look and it will be there from the time I put it on till the time I take it off.  It is long lasting and even with my oily eyelids – I didn’t have any trouble with creasing.

Both of the cream shadows I have did not crease on me considering they do have some form of shimmer/metallic to them.  They held up to use on its own or paired with eye shadows both matte and shimmer.  Also – I love using these in combination with loose shadows, even if they set nicely and blend onto the skin easily – they are still tacky enough to hold onto my favorite loose shadows for a great and long lasting eye makeup look.

Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow bronze have more fun 2

Bronze Have More Fun is a deep chestnut bronze.  I love it for a smoky eye or just an every day eye look.  It feels great on my eye lid – it’s smooth and doesn’t feel heavy like some cream shadows can.  This color does lend for a metallic look (as does Bikini-tini) but will work for all eye shadow combinations you have in mind.   If you are looking for a punch of color from this shade, build the color up slowly and blend between layers so that you will avoid creasing.  While this hasn’t creased on me, I know that it may not lend as nicely to others.

Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow bikini-tini 2

Bikini-Tini has an almost pearl sheen but not really.  It reminds me of a shell color – very neutral in tone, creamy colored and perfect for every day makeup looks.  I love that I can easily use this color as a quick wash over my eye lids up to my brow bone and then blend in my favorite matte shadows to create a nice “every day” work type makeup look.  I also love using this cream shadow as a pop of color and highlight on the arch below my brow for a soft highlight that brightens my look.  I do notice that I need to apply this particular shade in layers to deepen and increase the color against my dark skin.  But, I love it for every day use.

Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow makeup look

In the look above, I am using “Bronze Have More Fun” Creaseless Cream Shadow from benefit as my base for the eye shadows in the look.  My eye makeup stayed in place and stayed put from the morning until late that night when I took my makeup off.  While I am using Benefit’s Cream Shadow as a base for darker colors in this look, I love using them in lighter shades as well.  Bikini-tini is my favorite to use beneath colors in my Naked Basics palette by Urban Decay as well as my Benefit Peek-a-Bright-eyes Palette (review on that coming soon).

Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow 2

My favorite way to apply these shadows is to use a synthetic brush like my MAC 217.  That brush grabs the colors and applies them to my eyelid so effortlessly – it looks airbrushed.  Keep in mind that that is how I like to use it – just a little bit of color to make my shadows pop.  If you are looking to have a punch of color with lots of product applied, use a flat synthetic brush and pat the cream shadow onto your lid to get the color payoff you are looking for.  I do use my fingers from time to time, but I really rather a brush.  At the end of the day, you can use any brush you feel will work for you – but since it is a cream product, synthetic is best.  Oh – did I mention that you can use these as eyeliner as well.  Bronze Have More Fun makes such a great eyeliner (Bikini-tini too, but I find it is not the type of eyeliner color I would use. lol) – it goes on so creamy and applies without any problems.  Use an angled eyeliner brush for great precision and take your time.  You can create a light eyeliner look for every day wear or build up the color for a bold line.  Remember to close your pot of cream shadow tightly when you’re done using it so it will last and not dry out.  I like to store mine upside down (cover down) not only to see the color but it’s just a habit and it tends to not dry out as fast.  I have had mine for about 2 months now and it has not dried out yet.

So – have you tried the Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadows?  If so, what colors do you have?  If you haven’t tried them yet – do you think this may be a little splurge you are interested in trying.  So far after using it a few months, I’m impressed.  I’m glad I took photos “before” I started using them… because now they look like a hot mess. lol Have a wonderful week and thanks for reading! xo

benefits hervana blush 11

I had the opportunity to try out my first Benefit Blush – Hervana.  I have been using this blush over the course of the last couple of months and find myself grabbing for it pretty often.  At first glance of this blush I honestly did not think that it would work very well with my skin tone but I was very amazed at how natural the color looked on my skin and how nicely it highlighted and added that perfect touch of glow to my cheeks.

Benefits hervana blush and brush

Benefit always captures my eye with their awesome packaging.  I have had my eyes on Coralista for a long time but opted out of buying it after swatching it in Sephora last year.  When this blush was released, I had already been drooling over the cuteness of the packaging and all the purple.  “Rockateur is my next crush! lol” I love the little brush included in the blush package and while it is not ideal for me in applying blush, it is great in a pinch and will do it’s job when required.

swatch Benefit Hervana blush

As you can see from the swatch on my hand, it is not a very bold, hot pink blush which is why I love it so much.  By blending the different colors in the blush together it gives me such great color on my cheeks for such a pretty rosy glow.  Of course, if you want you can take a small brush and “try” to pick out each individual color to place on your face (hey, I rhymed. lol) but swirl all the colors together with a blush brush or your choice in applicator and it will just give off the prettiest pink for your cheeks.  Honestly – this gorgeous hue is perfect for any skin tone.  Because of the blend of colors from peach and rose, berry and “shell” it blends together effortlessly for the perfect color combo.

benefits hervana blush 2

This “Good Karma” Face Powder / Blush is available for purchase at Sephora.com (or Sephora stores) and Benefitcosmetics.com for $28.00 USD.  There is 8.0g / 0.28oz. worth of product in each which means that this will definitely last a while even with daily use.  hervana blush brush

The box of blush also includes a built-in mirror for on the go applications, as well as the blush brush (previously mentioned/pictured).  There is a little insert in the blush box that sits nicely above the blush to fit the little brush.  The brush itself is super soft and very little shedding occurred after washing.  It is a great companion for travel whether used along with the blush or with other products.

056 copy

By the time I took the photo above I had lost some of the color in my cheeks – but I’m using Hervana blush in this look.  It was a soft flush a color and that’s why I enjoy it so much, perfect for me to use daily without looking overdone or like I have Clown cheeks.  It’s a great blush for an every day flush of color. I LOVE IT!

benefits hervana blush 3

Here’s why I decided to actually review this awesome blush… seeing as I have been contemplating it for a while.  Since 2014’s Pantone color of the year is Radiant Orchid, I just couldn’t resist adding this to a favorite I’ll be rocking and swooning over for the year.  First off – come on now, Purple is my favorite color… and blended together… Lucky Shell, Divine Peach, Heavenly Rose and Berry Delight (the four colors in this blush) make up a gorgeous Orchid Blossom Blush with a satin finish.  This blush is easily blend-able, feels great on my skin and of course… it’s super pretty to stare at. lol

good karma benefit hervana

Oh and a little hint to my “Snow White” skinned beauties.  This blush is absolutely perfect for your skin tone (especially during this time of year when it is cold and you tend to have rosy red cheeks).  Due to the purple hues in this blush it will really bring out a gorgeous flush of color with pink tones instead of reds that some other blushes may do.  Swirl the colors in the blush together, sweep onto your cheeks and you’ll have gorgeous pink flushed cheeks without the red cheeks you can get from other colors.
