makeup look

Recently I was selected as an Ipsy and PopBeauty ipsyPOPstar.  I was one out of 20 selected from the many that applied and I’m very humbled by it.  I was sent over a few goodies from Ipsy and Pop Beauty to create a look of my choosing using the products and this is the look I came up with.  I had a lot of fun creating it and while I am not a fan of glitter, I really loved how it pulled the entire look together.  Here is my creation and makeup tutorial below.  These colors reminded me so much of the ocean I see daily so I thought the blues would be fitting for a summer makeup look.  I hope you guys like it as much as I enjoyed creating it.IpsyPOPstars Ocean Inspired Look

I hope you all enjoyed my makeup tutorial – I had a lot of fun with it and enjoyed creating it.  The heat from Summer is still in full swing here, but my kiddos go back to school at the end of the week, so I loved that this look reminded me of the ocean that we enjoyed so much this season.  Wishing you all a wonderful rest of your summer.

My normal summer makeup routine is a bare face… maybe some mascara and lip balm, but for the most part – I rock out a no makeup look.  Why?  Well, because I live in Paradise and the ocean’s serenade is constantly calling me.  But, when I want to wear makeup and rock out a look, I try to go for a soft – lightly bronzed eye shadow look and a pop of color on the lips.  Four Fourth of July I posted a look similar on my Instagram, but decided I wanted this one to have a little summery bronze shades added to it. Today I bring to you a makeup tutorial that is super easy to create, utilizing Colour Pop eye shadows and my Lorac Pro palette.  I hope you like it.  Scroll down to see photos of the look and don’t forget to watch the tutorial.  Happy Summer!

Summer Love Makeup tutorial

Well I think bold colorful looks are gorgeous, it is not something I would wear often… but that doesn’t stop me from rockin’ it out if I do.  This week for Tutorial Tuesday I wanted to do a Tropical Paradise Makeup Tutorial inspired by bright, bold, summery shades that look almost neon.  This makeup look is definitely easier to achieve than you would think and while it’s definitely not an every day look – it’s bright and cheerful for these warm summer days.  I hope you enjoy my Tropical Paradise Makeup Tutorial, rainbow eyeshadow featuring BA Star and BH Cosmetics.

Tropical Paradise Makeup Look

I don’t often plan my makeup looks – especially if I am going to do a tutorial on the look… so this particular makeup look was no exception.  I knew what makeup products I had intended to use for the eyes, so I decided when I created my first eye (before filming) that I would just throw the colors together and see how it turned out.  To be honest, I didn’t expect the colors to be as vibrant as they turned out – both from the BA Star Tropical Palette as well as the BH Eyes on the 60s Palette… because I haven’t really used more than a color or two from each palette.  To say I was impressed would be an understatement.

Check out my video tutorial on how I created this eye look by scrolling down and watching the embedded video below or click here to watch directly on YouTube.

A full list of products is listed below.Tropical Paradise Makeup Look

Tropical Paradise Makeup Look

I am very happy with how this look came out and it reminded me how much I miss creating colorful and bold looks.  While these palettes are affordable, they both pack a huge punch in color… and it goes to show – you can certainly create a look using something cheaper than high end brands.  I had a friend ask me about my thoughts on the Urban Decay Electric Palette, which I do not own.  While I would love to be able to swatch that palette up and create some looks, I think these palettes I used to create the looks I did – well, they certainly give those higher end brands a little competition.  I’ll have my review for the BA Star Tropical Palette up soon and maybe just maybe… I’ll do one on the BH Cosmetics Eyes on the 60s palette too.  I hope you all enjoyed my makeup look for this week.  I’m loving how bold it is and how it turned out.

Happy Summer!

Signature Honey

I have been hearing the rave on Orange Is The New Black for quite a few months now – but honestly, I wasn’t really interested in watching it and I don’t know why.  About 3 weeks ago with a suggestion from a friend – I dove into watching Season 1 and 2 (every single episode) and didn’t want to move from my seat through most of the weekend.  I finished the two seasons in about 48 hours and it quickly became a favorite movie of mine.  This Netflix show is a lot more exciting than I had given it credit and I don’t know if I can wait till next year to watch Season 3, lol.

I have my list of favorite characters and Sophia Burset – a Transgender Inmate is quite possibly my favorite out of all of them so far, which a few others coming in quite closely.  I have intended to create inspired looks from some of my favorite characters in the show, but for this particular look, I am working together with a few of my favorite bloggers to create looks of some of the women in the show.  Be sure to check out their links listed below and see their interpretation of the characters’ looks too.

OITNB Sophia Burset

I absolutely love Sophia’s makeup in the episodes as she is either rocking out a brown gradient looking lip or burgundy lip in her appearances.  Her eyes are always simply done up with a soft smoky eye and her hair is always flawless.  Since she runs a salon in the prison, she is always a trendsetter even if she is stuck with the same khaki scrubs that all the inmates use.  I also love Sophia’s story behind the character.  Quick Tidbit… Did you know that Laverne Cox’s Twin Brother actually plays the “pre-transition” character Marcus in Orange Is The New Black?

OITNB Sophia Burset

I tried to make this look as simple as possible to recreate – so check out my makeup tutorial below.

Signature Honey

This week I wanted to create a look using products from my May Ipsy Glam Bag – Fresh Picks.  Since the theme is super cute, I thought this would be a great way to show a flirty side of me.  I chose to name my look “My Secret Garden” because I used inspiration from one of my favorite Books and Movies – The Secret Garden.  Spring and Summer remind me of floral scents and flowers in an array of colors.  Purple being my favorite color, I decided a purple and white-gold look would be fitting for a soft and wearable creation.  It kind of reminds me of the Jacaranda that grow so heavily here in the Spring time and grace our roads and lawns with beautiful lavender flowers.

The Secret Garden inspired Makeup using Ipsy Glam bag

I have a really hard time making up my mind – so I thought I would use a few different florals to style my  pictures.  Utilizing the goodies I received in my May Ipsy Glam Bag, I created a look that I thought would incorporate the items perfectly.

Many say that my makeup looks all seem to mesh together and look the same, but I like it – because makeup is about style and creativity… and most importantly – it’s about beauty.  Check out my makeup tutorial for this look embedded below or click here to watch it directly on YouTube.  A list of products used can be found in this post.  I hope you enjoy!

Hair – To help define my curls I used the eva-nyc Rock-a-Wave Curl Cream Leave in Cream (from Ipsy May Glam Bag) as well as Coconut Oil

Body – For SPF/Sun screen I used Hang Ten Classic Sport SPF 50 Sunscreen and to moisturize my body I used the Lulu Blossom Body Balm and to exfoliate my elbows, knees and heels of my feet I used my Derma-e Microdermabrasion Scrub.  All of these products were received in my Ipsy Glam bag.

Don’t forget to check out my Makeup Tutorial on YouTube and Subscribe for more videos.  I truly enjoy creating looks for all of you and look forward to doing more this summer.  Keep on the look out for a bronze summer goddess look that I have planned coming up.  I hope you enjoyed my makeup look that I created using the goodies from my Ipsy May Glam Bag.  Have a wonderful rest of your Spring and Summer.

I have had my Too Faced A Few Of My Favorite Things Palette now since Christmas.  I have used it a few times for soft everyday looks – but really wanted to create something that had a little bit of drama, but that was still wearable for someone who wanted to use it during the day or out and about.  This look utilizes some of my favorite colors in this palette and I love how easy the colors are to blend.  I named this look Honey Bella Rosa because my middle name is Rosa and the name of the Blush I chose is name Bella Rosa.  Since Bella Rosa means beautiful rose… I thought… “Honey Beautiful Rose” would be sweet.  Those that know me know that Lavender Sterling Roses are my favorite that my husband orders for me… and this look reminded me of these gorgeous roses.  I hope you enjoy the look! <3Honey Bella Rosa Makeup tutorial - Too Faced A Few of My Favorite Things

Honey Bella Rosa Makeup Tutorial

Products used:

  • Eyeshadow Primer – Too Faced Shadow Insurance
  • Eyeshadow Base – NYX Shadow Base in Skintone (applied to the lid & lower lash line and stopping at the crease)
  • Eyeshadow Palette – Too Faced A Few of My Favorite things Palette (Limited Edition) Ooh la Orchid (crease and lower lash line), Honey Honey (lid), Chocolate Milk (blended above the crease as transition shade), Soiree (deepen the outer v), Pure Glam (deepen the outer v), Cream Colored Ponies (highlight), Moon on Their Wings (inner corner highlight / shimmer)
  • Brow Highlight – Milani Brow & Eye Highlight in Vanilla
  • Lower Lash Line pop of color – Jordana 12 Hour Made to last eye shadow pencil in Prolong Purple
  • Waterline & Tightline Liner – Mally Starlight Waterproof Liner in Midnight
  • Winged Liner – Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper
  • Mascara – Elizabeth Mott It’s So Big Volumizing Mascara layered with Benefit’s They’re Real Mascara
  • False Lashes – KISS 01
  • Contour – Starlook’s Cream Blush in Emphasize topped/set with Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer
  • Blush – Milani Baked Matte Bronzer in Bella Rosa
  • Highlight – Laura Geller’s Baked Blush & Brighten in Como
  • Lips – The Body Shop Lip Butter in Coconut (applied prior to doing the tutorial), Milani Color statement Lip liner in Nude topped with Milani Color statement lipstick in Nude Cream and NYX Butter Gloss in Angel Food Cake
  • Brows – Cailyn Gelux Brow in Cocoa set with NYX Brow set gel
  • Cupid’s Bow highlight – Benefit Wats Up

Note:  I always apply my lip butter or balm prior to doing the tutorial so that it moisturizes my lips before hand and my lipstick/gloss/liner application will go on smoothly.  Applying just before applying your lip products can cause your lips to be too slippery for your lip products to adhere and can cause movement or feathering.  If your lip balm/butter is still to slippery – blot your lips prior to applying your lipstick, etc.

As you see in the tutorial – I did not and do not use Face Primer or Foundation and concealer.  If I do use any of these products I’ll be sure to list them – but I have discontinued the use of these products since it has not been good for my sensitive skin.  I haven’t really used Foundation/Concealer in over 2 years.

Honey Bella Rosa - Makeup tutorial using Too Faced A Few of My Favorite Things palette

I hope you enjoyed this look.  As many of you know I love purple and I really wanted to finally do a tutorial using the Too Faced A Few Of My Favorite Things Palette – I’m glad I was finally able to create a look for you.

Be My Valentine!

Be My Valentine - Valentine's Day Makeup Tutorial

Valentine’s Day is just a few short weeks away.  Most you know – I have a huge crush on anything that has to do with “being in love” and this Holiday is no exception.  Since I came up short with doing any Valentine’s Day tutorials last year (I only posted looks), I decided that it would be best to start early this year.  I am also entering this look into the Ipsy January Look Challenge since I was able to utilize products from the January Ipsy Bag.  This will also be the first tutorial using the Smashbox Full Exposure Palette (review coming soon).

So have you put any thought into what you are going to be doing this Valentine’s Day?  My husband will be working the night shift so my sons and I will be having a nice little dinner at home.  While I’ll miss my husband tremendously (I’m one of those gushy romantics), I know that everyday is Valentine’s Day for us and I’m lucky that he makes me feel special each and every day!

Be My Valentine - Valentine's Day Makeup Tutorial

I wanted this look to be very easy to recreate and wearable.  While the liner is a bit on the bold and dramatic side, this look will offer a bit of sexy and sultry but without all the effort.  You can surely add blush/bronzer if you wanted to – but I decided to opt out of that in this look.  I promise to have at least one more Valentine’s Day tutorial posted in the next two weeks, so be sure to keep an eye out for that.

If you are interested in signing up for Ipsy or learning more about it – click on my link here: http://www.ipsy.com/r/1o41  For just $10 a month you get a cosmetic bag filled with 4-5 products.  In the past I have gotten goodies from Urban Decay, Sexy Hair, NYX, and so much more.

Wishing you all a wonderful Valentine’s Day – whether you are Single or In-Love… make it an awesome day!

Over the course of the last couple of months I have been watching the Bonnie & Clyde Previews for the 2 Day Event they had this December on three different television networks.  I was so excited and couldn’t wait to watch the show.  For months I had been talking with Friends and Family about how I wanted to do an inspired makeup look and I finally had the opportunity to do so.

This is my recreation.  In no way do I claim to “look like” Holliday Grainger (the actress who plays Bonnie Parker), but wanted to create this look not because I was so inspired by it but because this is also a very awesome look to use during the Winter Months and the Holidays because of the bold red lip.  I thought my recreation came out pretty cool and thanks to the help of my awesome husband I was able to get some pretty kick ass photos. 😉  The video makeup tutorial is embedded below as well as photos and a complete list of products used.

Products used to create this look:

  • Eye Shadow Primer – elf cosmetics primer
  • Lorac Pro – Taupe (used in the crease and blended towards the brow bone as transition shade)
  • Jane Iredale – Champagne Eyeshadow (used on lid as well as on the brow bone as highlight)
  • Lorac Pro – Sable (used to deepen the crease) (Also used PopBeauty Bright Up Your Life Trio in Naturally Bare to deepen the crease – but I did so after I filmed the tutorial)
  • Jordana 12 Hour Eye liner Pencil – used as a guideline for the upper lash line liner
  • Jesse’s Girl Waterproof Eyeliner Pen – used to create winged liner on upper lash line
  • Jane Iredale Pure Lash Mascara – upper and lower lashes (I didn’t show it in the video – but after filming I applied Elizabeth Mott’s It’s So Big Mascara to my lashes so that it would define my lashes more and make them more visible.)
  • Milani True Red Lip Liner – used to line upper and lower lips
  • Lipstick Queen’s Black Tie Lipstick – lip color
  • Benefit’s Gimme Brow – used to lightly fill in the brows
  • NYC Sunny Bronzer – used to Contour and create definition on the face
  • Milani’s Romantic Rose Blush – applied to Cheeks
  • Laura Geller’s French Vanilla Highlight – applied to highlight cheek bones, down the bridge of nose and forehead

Add your favorite accessories and this look will be absolute awesome to rock all Winter long and to those Holiday parties you’re attending.  What I loved about it so much and the reason I wanted to recreate it is because it is an effortless and timeless look.
