In December of last year, I shared with all of you about the HiMirror and what it has done for me. I would never have imagined that something like this would make its way to the market while I was still alive. And, I have loved using this unique tool now over the last 10 months or so and it’s become a part of my everyday skin care regimen. While I’m always amazed at the fun and interesting technology finds that make its way into the beauty community I’m also excited to see how they improve our beauty routines. While the first HiMirror has wowed me tremendously, I was so excited to share the newest from the brand. Today I introduce you to the HiMirror Plus. Are you ready to get the lowdown on this beauty?
While the HiMirror Plus is a smart mirror just like it’s sister the original HiMirror, there have been a plethora of upgrades that make this new mirror fun and definitely change up your beauty routine as you know it. A Smarter Beauty technology that takes your skin care game to new levels, offering innovative technology with the ease of an at-home beauty consultant.
Installation of this bad gal was easy and very quick. I decided that instead of mounting the mirror to my door as I did with the first HiMirror, that I wanted to have it on my little makeup table so it was available for me each day. A simple little frame, which I purchased on my own, made a great accompaniment.
The set up for the HiMirror Plus was quite easy to do and the instructions along with a handy YouTube video to follow made it a breeze. You do need to have your mirror near a plug so that you can plug it in and of course, you must have a WiFi connection to connect to the mirror. The app to help with analyzing and set up is available on iPhone or Android (I have Android) and it’s as easy as answering a few skin care questions. The setup process takes about 5 minutes and while it takes a little getting used to the actual use of the product, it’s fairly easy once you get started.
Once set up – you can start using your HiMirror Plus. Each scan of your face will analyze the following things:
HiMirror Plus can track your skin’s progress each day and record your skin’s current condition while comparing it to those from previous months. This Personal Beauty System provides you with a comparison so you can see which products are really working for you and which are not.
The HiMirror Plus also understands your skin care and personal needs. It will pinpoint areas on the face where you have individual areas that may need treatment, like:
These areas will be marked by the level of intensity compared to your overall complexion. This information is very useful in keeping up with the proper skin care regimen and products.
The HiMirror Plus has an HD camera that works to analyze your skin but also provides you with face recognition each time you turn on your camera. You can close and open the shutter to keep your privacy but this very awesome camera will detect your dark spots, redness, pores, fine lines, texture and so much more on your skin. Each time you take a photo with this camera, it will track your skins progress over time and give you tips on how you can improve your skin’s overall condition. It’s definitely a high-tech skin care loving friend that I think every girl needs.
What’s great about the HiMirror Plus is that it also offers voice recognition. This handy tool has been making it a little easier for me to operate the mirror when I’m not feeling the hand gestures that day.
The HiMirror Plus offers a variety of new upgrades as I stated before and that includes updates to the software. You can keep on top of your local weather, news and even listen to music without leaving the mirrors side. All of the mirror’s options give you a variety of selections for you to choose from. The HiMirror is powered by Big Data but all of your personal information is kept completely private and monitoring your skin care is easy with the mirror or smartphone app which is free to download.
The HiMirror Plus also has an additional tool to help with your skincare regimen. The HiSkin is a cool little device that you can purchase separately and connect to your HiMirror or phone via Bluetooth. You can use this handy tool to get accurate readings of your skin in the particular areas for a better analysis.
“This isn’t a cure-all or electronic technological fountain of youth, but more like an assistant to keep you on track.”
The HiMirror Plus is more than a Beauty Consultant, it offers you a variety of tools at your fingertips. You can magnify your beauty with HiMirror’s specialized lens and magnifying feature. There are two new zoom options now available offering you actual photo size, 2x and 3x zoom.
Like with all products I’ve tried, there are many benefits in my opinion – or pros, as well as cons. I think while the pros surely out-weight the cons, I did want to make a notation of some of the things that could use some adjustments to.
Overall, I have to say that I’ve become accustomed to using the HiMirror Plus (and prior to that the HiMirror) so it’s easily a favorite tool in my beauty routine. Since I suffer from sensitive skin, this has been a tool that has totally made a difference in how I treat and care for my skin. I’m optimistic that HiMirror will continue to make additional improvements to make the device much more user-friendly. But, I do believe that with the options currently available, this product is genius and worth every penny. If you are someone who loves new inventions and looking for smarter beauty options, you will love this at-home beauty consultant. Of course, I try to keep it as real as I possibly can here, no frills or pretty pictures to entice you, just my thoughts on the product itself. I found that after using the original HiMirror over the last year (just about), that I was able to make it work for me and figured out what I needed to improve on when it comes to my skin. This isn’t a cure-all or electronic technological fountain of youth, but more like an assistant to keep you on track.

I know I’ve been featuring Pixi Beauty on the blog quite often lately, but in all honesty, I have a serious crush on the products I’ve been trying from the brand. Between the influencer collaborations to products they’ve been releasing consistently, I have definitely been crushing on the Pixi by Petra. Today we’re going to chat about some of their Skin Teats – like literally, that’s what tab they are labeled under on the website (and with good reason, because they totally are). These beauty mists have been my lazy girl best friends lately and I am excited to share them with all of you.
Everyone knows that a great makeup or skincare mist for the face is definitely essential but in some cases, it’s a luxury that many can’t afford. However, over the last year or so – brands have been coming out with affordable versions and Pixi is definitely killing it in the game. At just $15.00 each, you can’t help but want to give these babies a whirl and see how they work. I have been using these skin treats mists now for at least 2 months and boy oh boy, I’m in love.
The Hydrating Milky Mist is one I had on my mind for a few months and I was so excited to get it in my recent box to try. This deeply hydrating mist provides and invisible layer of skin-soothers and is the ultimate remedy for dry skin like mine. It’s feather light and offers your skin a surge of hydration with hyaluronic acid to help plump the skin. It’s perfect for all skin types and provides a blend of black oat, provitamin A, and linoleic acid to rejuvenate the skin and provide a perfect first layer of moisture before you apply serums and makeup. I shake my bottle and spray onto my skin in the morning or night (or anytime I feel my face needs a little hydration). It’s easy to apply and one of my favorites.
Ingredients: Water, Glycerin, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Dipropylene Glycol, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Phenoxyethanol, Polyglyceryl-10 Oleate, Ethylhexylglycerin, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Cetearyl Isononanoate, Allantoin, Ceteareth-20, Trideceth-10, Hydrolyzed Glycosaminoglycans, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Glyceryl Stearate, Ceteareth-12, Cetyl Alcohol, Stearyl Alcohol, Cetyl Palmitate, Disodium EDTA, Fragrance, Citric Acid, Benzoic Acid, Lecithin, Avena Strigosa Seed Extract. 80ml / 2.70 fl.oz
Before I go further, I also wanted to add that the spray nozzle on these bottles is great. You get the perfect amount each time you use it. I love it.
The Makeup Fixing Mist with Rose Water and Green Tea has also become one of my favorite products. Like most makeup setting sprays – this one prolongs makeup wear and keeps it from moving, melting and settling into fine lines and pores. With the rose water and green tea infused formula, this spray helps to comfort, protect and balance the skin for a fresh face. I love how it leaves my skin looking hydrated and really helps to give my skin a fresh look, regardless of how much makeup I have on. I don’t have to worry about looking cake-face with this product. This spray has replaced two of my favorites because it’s affordable and I love the smell. If you’re looking for a spray that will set your makeup while adding a soft-focus finish, you’ll surely enjoy this one.
*I use this spray after makeup or spray directly onto my makeup brush before applying eye shadow for a foiled, more intense look.
Ingredients: Water, Alcohol, Polyvinyl Alcohol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Rosa Centifolia Flower Water, Caprylyl Glycol, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Sodium Citrate, Centella Asiatica Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Trideceth-10, Caprylhydroxamic Acid, Glycerin, Chamaecyparis Obtusa Leaf Extract, Soleirolia Soleirolii Extract, Melissa Officinalis Leaf Extract, Origanum Majorana Leaf Extract, Fragrance, Butylene Glycol, Bambusa Vulgaris Extract, Pinus Densiflora Extract, Thuja Orientalis Extract, Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract, Origanum Vulgare Leaf Extract, Niacinamide, Lactobacillus/Soybean Ferment Extract, Cinnamomum Cassia Bark Extract, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Maltodextrin, Ethyl Hexanediol, Calcium Pantothenate, Sodium Starch Octenylsuccinate, Polyquaternium-51, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Pyridoxine HCl, Silica. 80ml / 2.70 fl.oz.
The Glow Mist is a product I’ve been using for quite a few months now and it’s one of my favorites. Since I don’t use makeup daily and I’m always on the hunt for a glowy, dewy look, I think this product is one that gets the job done when I need it to. The Glow Mist gives my face a luminous and glowing look while still leaving me with a smooth complexion. It’s enriched with 13 natural oils plus propolis, aloe vera and fruit extracts. It hydrates my skin while nourishing and also acts as a makeup setting spray while leaving my skin looking glowy and fresh. I use it in the morning or evening when I need it and I even spray some on my shoulders when I am wearing something that exposes them some. I love this product and I absolutely enjoy how it gives me that beachy (just get out of the water from a dip) look without being on the sand or getting wet.
Ingredients: Water, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Dipropylene Glycol, Butylene Glycol, Propolis Extract, Niacinamide, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Betaine, Sodium Hyaluronate, PEG/PPG-17/6 Copolymer, Panthenol, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Oil, Rosa Canina Fruit Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Macadamia Integrifolia Seed Oil, 1,2-Hexanediol, Caprylyl Glycol, Illicium Verum (Anise) Fruit Extract, Adenosine, Rose Flower Oil, Tagetes Minuta Flower Oil, Mentha Arvensis Leaf Oil, Elettaria Cardamomum Seed Oil, Thymus Vulgaris (Thyme) Oil, Eugenia Caryophyllus (Clove) Leaf Oil, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Vetiveria Zizanoides Root Oil, Cymbopogon Schoenanthus Oil, Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Peel Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil. 80ml / 2.70 fl.oz
Last but not least, let’s talk the Pixi Vitamin Wakeup Mist. First of all, I’m a morning person, so I love a product that just wakes up my skin so that I look like I feel – excited and ready to start my day. This mist offers a boost to my skin while revitalizing it and giving my complexion an awakened effect. The orange blossom water base is blended with skin-loving citrus fruit extracts, lavender, and arginine. This mist helps to strengthen and tone while adding hydration and a protective veil to the skin. It cools, refreshes and wakes up your skin to start your day. You can use this in the AM or PM and it works wonders for those days when you feel like you needed to snooze your alarm a few more times.
Ingredients: Water/Aqua/Eau, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Flower Water, Glycerin, Dipropylene Glycol, Butylene Glycol, Niacinamide, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, 1,2-Hexanediol, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Allantoin, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Citric Acid, Sodium Citrate, Citrus Grandis (grapefruit) Peel Oil, Adenosine, Tropolone, Disodium EDTA, Arginine, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Citrus Sinensis Peel Oil Expressed, Sodium Hyaluronate, Citrus Aurantifolia (Lime) Oil, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Sodium Starch Octenylsuccinate, Maltodextrin, Calcium Pantothenate, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Pryidoxine HCI, Silica.
I am always excited to share Pixi products with all of you – especially when they are products that I’ve been loving lately. These are definitely some of my favorites and I’ll be stocking up on them as I run out.

How it works:
I know Spring has hit Hawaii when I drive around the up country area where I live and notice purple blossoms from the Jacaranda trees that line our streets here. But, that is not the only thing that reminds me of spring – besides the trees and of course the weather, my skin texture and need for certain products definitely changes. I’ve been using Rodial products for about a year now and I find that my skin really soaks up all the benefits of the products during the cool spring months. It’s that time of the year when we are starting to transition from colder months to warmer here in Hawaii. Today, I’m going to share with you some products I’ve been using the last month from Rodial so let’s get to it, shall we?
Rodial is a UK based brand that recently made it’s way into the United States, offering a variety of skin care and cosmetic products. I have tried several products from their Dragon’s Blood, Stem Cell Super-Food and Snake lines and for the most part, I’ve been quite impressed with the products I’ve tried so far. Today I’m going to be sharing with you 5 products that are “new to me” and recently added to the Rodial line up.
The first products are makeup types and include the Baking Powder ($48.00) and The Baking Brush ($46.00).
The Baking Powder (New Product) is a loose setting powder (I got the color 01) that helps you to achieve the perfect flawless base for your makeup. This setting powder is silky and quite smooth which is ideal for “baking” your makeup – a technique that has been used for years in the drag communities and by makeup artists, and has recently (over the last year) become a popular step in the beauty community and YouTubers alike. Baking your makeup is all about flawlessly setting your makeup without creasing or caking.
While you can pretty much “bake your face” with any loose translucent powder – I prefer when doing this method of makeup that the powder be smooth and lightweight. I also prefer a powder that will add a bit of brightness to the face effortlessly, without leaving a white cast behind when sweeping the powder away. I must say – I was quite impressed with the Rodial Baking Powder. It’s smooth to the touch and feels great on the skin. Once you sweep the powder away – you are left with a flawless makeup application.
I will say however, that the amount of product you get – 4g / 0.14 oz Net. Wt. is not a lot considering the price tag. While a little goes a long way with the product, especially since it is such a finely milled powder, when using something like this specifically for baking, you will go through product quickly and I think at $48.00 – that’s quite a hefty cost to have to replenish the product when you need. The powder comes with a sifter which allows you to really get the right amount of product each time and hopefully eliminate an spill accident, but if you are someone who bakes your makeup often, you may need to buy a new one sooner.
If you are like me and rarely uses a technique like this, this product will last you a long time. It feels great on the skin, like silk and you’ll definitely enjoy it.
Ingredients: Ingredients: Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, Talc, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Silica, Boron Nitride, Hydrogen Dimethicone, Caprylyl Glycol, Squalane, Phenoxyethanol, Aluminum Hydroxide, Hexylene Glycol, Dehydroacetic Acid, Disodium EDTA, Aqua (Water), Pisum Sativum (Pea) Extract, Glucosamine HCL, Bambusa Vulgaris Leaf/Stem Extract May Contain (+/-): CI 77891 (Titanium Dioxide), CI 77492 (Iron Oxides), CI 77491 (Iron Oxides), CI 77742 (Manganese Violet), CI 77499 (Iron Oxides)
Next is The Baking Brush (New Product). There’s not much to say about this brush except I really like it. This brush is perfect for removing powder or applying it to the under eye area because it is so so soft that it will not affect the under eyes with an pulling or tugging. This brush has been specifically designed with soft, dense hairs to allow for easy application of the loose powder as well as the perfect softness to remove the loose powder when your baking is done, leaving your skin looking flawless without “cake face”.
What I also love about this brush is that it is dense enough to pick up and apply any pressed powders and makes a wonderful bronzer brush for contouring or adding definition within the hollows of the cheek area and forehead. I found that I was able to get the perfect bronze with this brush because it blends the products effortlessly. The brush bristles are so soft. I’ve looked all over the website and couldn’t find information on the specific type of bristles the brush was made with, but have been advised by those that have used the brand that they are indeed synthetic brush hairs… which is awesome. It feels so good, you’ll definitely want to use this brush for everything and I have just about tried it on most of the my face products (with exception to foundation) and have enjoyed it. The ferule is very well made, tightly cinched in place and the handle, while it does have weight to it, is not overly heavy but balanced well in my hands. Yes, this brush is a bit costly, but considering the quality I’ve found it to have, I’m beyond impressed with it and I’ll definitely look into other brushes from the Rodial line.
Next in this line up I also tried a few more products from the Dragon’s Blood line. The Dragon’s Blood XXL Lip Plumper was definitely something I was excited to try when I seen it in the box. It’s an interesting product and I do enjoy a good lip plumper so I opened this product first before any of the others.
The Dragon’s Blood XXL Lip Plumper retails for $30.00 and you 3mL / 0.1 fl.oz. of product. Not that much product if you ask me, considering the price point. This lip plumper was designed to nourish your lips while boosting the lips volume instantly. They call it a “moisture-rich plumping miracle worker.” It’s suggested to apply this product twice daily generously to the lips or as often as needed to provide an instant boost of moisture and plumping action. The site also says that you may experience slight tingling sensation on your lips upon your initial application.
So here’s the deal. While I was very excited to see this product in my box when it arrived, after trying this particular one, it’s not my favorite in the bunch. First, getting the product out of the tube took quite a while. To dispense the product, you click the back of the pen like packaging till the product dispenses through the brush tip. Let’s just say that it took me well over 90 presses to get that darn thing to come out. By the time it was slowly making it’s way to the applicator, my fingers and hand was already uncomfortable and tired.
The brush made the product easy to apply, and I really liked that the actual lip product had a tint of color. It’s the perfect type of shade for a natural, everyday glossy look and the product, while just a bit sticky, applied pretty easily. I didn’t find any weird residue left on my lips through out the day and it wasn’t so sticky that I couldn’t purse my lips together after applied. I did find minimum stinging and tingling which was great (considering they use chilli extract as their ingredient for the plumping) and the smell was almost minty and kind of pleasant for me. I will say however, do not taste the stuff, it has an odd taste that really didn’t sit well for me… I’m not sure what it is, but I didn’t like it. It’s not chemical, but a weird mint and herb taste, if that makes any sense. The plumping was definitely instant after application but not abnormal. My lips seemed a fuller without looking weird and the effect was nice. This gloss like plumper does not last a long time, so you may need to reapply after it comes off for optimal effect.
Ingredients: Hydroxystearic/Linolenic/Oleic Polyglycerides, Olus Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Acacia Decurrens/Jojoba/Sunflower Seed Wax/Polyglyceryl-3 Esters, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Adansonia Digitata (Baobab) Seed Oil, Ribes Nigrum (Black Currant) Seed Oil, Cetearyl Ethylhexanoate, Candelilla Cera, Parfum (Fragrance), Mica, Capsicum Annum Resin/Capsicum Frutescens Resin, Tocopherol, Sorbitan Isostearate, Glycerin, Aqua (Water), Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Trihydroxystearin, Portulaca Pilosa Extract, Geraniol, Linalool, Sucrose Cocoate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Limonene, Croton Lechleri Resin Extract, Benzyl Alcohol, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38, Potassium Sorbate, Sorbic Acid, Glucomannan, Citric Acid, CI 77891 (Titanium Dioxide), CI 15850 (Red 7), CI 75470 (Carmine).
Cautions: Contains chilli extract. In case of discomfort, discontinue use. Avoid contact with eyes. If contact occurs, rinse well with water.
The Dragon’s Blood Velvet Cream was another product I got to test out. Retailing at $85.00 for 50mL / 1.7 fl.oz. worth of product, you get a good size tub of product for the price point. While it is expensive, considering the brand and their products, it’s something you can definitely expect. There’s one thing for sure with Rodial, their product packaging always goes with the particular product line, which I like and the packaging is nice and definitely well made.
This cream is interesting. It’s a rich cream with a texture that kind of reminds me of a whipped body butter. It applies smoothly and evenly and I love how nicely it blends and rubs into the skin. Rodial says that this cream offers a multi-dimensional hydration that leaves the skin feeling deeply nourished and I can definitely agree with that. After apply to my face I felt like my skin got a boost of moisture and I really love the fact that it doesn’t feel heavy and my skin just drinks it in. If you have dry skin like I do, I think you’ll definitely enjoy this cream. I found that using it at night has been best for me my skin feels soft and smooth the next morning. You can definitely use it morning or night – but for me the night use is best, but I have enjoyed using it during the day as well. It doesn’t have a bad scent, but smells oddly like a weird herbal citrus, I can’t quite figure it out. This product is expensive however, so I say if you can splurge, great – you’re skin will surely enjoy it. I also really like the fact that ingredients like Squalane are included so I can eliminate a few other products in my routine when using this cream.
Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Isoamyl Laurate, Glycerin, Squalane, Cetearyl Alcohol, Dimethicone, Myristyl Myristate, Pentaerythrityl Tetraethylhexanoate, HDI/Trimethylol Hexyllactone Crosspolymer, Cetearyl Glucoside, Butyrospermum Parkii Butter, Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Oil, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Phenoxyethanol, Parfum (Fragrance), Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Triethanolamine, Hydrolyzed Caesalpinia Spinosa Gum, Disodium EDTA, Ethylhexylglycerin, Sodium Hyaluronate, Tocopherol, Xanthan Gum, Caesalpinia Spinosa Gum, Silica, Potassium Sorbate, Ceratonia Siliqua (Carob) Seed Extract, Croton Lechleri Resin Extract, Sodium Benzoate, Limonene, Geraniol, Linalool, Farnesol, Citral, Citronelloe
The Rodial Dragon’s Blood Cleansing Water is the last product that I got to try out this time around. Retailing for $36.00 the water includes 200 mL / 6.8 fl.oz. worth of product. The Cleansing Water was designed to remove all traces of makeup and give your skin a burst of freshness while hydrating and soothing your skin. This cleansing water can be used on both the face and the eyes and is formulated with rose water.
Honestly, I have been using cleansing and micellar waters on my eye area now for over a year. I know you shouldn’t but, I do and found that this particular one was quite gentle in that area. My eyes didn’t burn or feel irritated which I liked. Since this is a no-rinse formula, it was perfect to use for cleansing in the morning as well. With ingredients like rose water, vitamin B3 and the Dragon’s Blood – this product is said to soothe sensitive and stressed skin while illuminating and brightening the skin and evening out the skin tone. With some of my favorite ingredients like hyaluronic acid and vitamin B3, I definitely am liking the results of this product. This particular product is perfect on days when it’s hot and my skin feels parched and I love that I can use it day or night and all over my face without any sensitivities or issues. It’s not a sticky liquid, but leaves my skin feeling hydrated so if I had to skip moisturizing for any reason, I know my skin will not be left overly dry after use.
Oh – did I mention how it removed my makeup? My waterproof mascara or brow pencils come off without any issue and I like that my eyes don’t burn at all, of course, if I got the product directly into my eye area – that may be a different story. This is a product I know I’ll for sure continue to buy and use – I could stock up on it because it truly is my favorite out of all the ones I wrote about in this post. I have very sensitive eyes and to find a product that doesn’t burn them, at all – well, yes… I must stock pile that like it’s the zombie apocalypse and I need them all.
Rosa Damascena Flower Water, PEG-6 Caprylic/ Capric Glycerides, Niacinamide, Phenoxyethanol, Benzyl Alcohol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Disodium EDTA, Glycerin, Dehydroacetic Acid, Sodium Hyaluronate, Croton Lechleri Resin Extract, Geraniol, Citronellol.
Cautions: Avoid getting product directly in the eyes. If direct contact occurs rinse well with water.
Of course, each person’s skin and skin care routine differ and what may work for you – may not necessarily work for me and vice versa. Ultimately, I enjoyed most of the products I tried that I discussed in this post. I have used several products from Rodial over the last year and have enjoyed “most” of them. I do think some of the products can be a bit overpriced, but considering the brand name, you often pay for the brand name and reputation. Many of the ingredients in these products are really nice for the skin. I’ve been using these products now for about a month and I haven’t noticed any sensitivities (I do have sensitive skin) and I can’t say that I’ve experienced any weird breakouts. If I had to suggest at least one product from the five I talked about here today, I definitely think trying the Dragon’s Blood Cleansing Water would be a good one to start with.
So – while this post was a bit “long winded” I wanted to make sure to be able to provide you with as much information that I could so you could decide if this brand or these products would work for you. As I mentioned before, I do have other products that I’ve shared on social media but didn’t quite write about here, and I plan to over the next few weeks (so stay tuned). You can purchase these products at: http://www.rodial.co.uk/us/ – I love that they are available in the US now.
What about you? Have you tried any products from Rodial or any of them that I’ve discussed in this post? Are there any products that you tried that I must get my hands on? Let me know in the comments below.

You guys, I have something interesting to share with all of you today. Over the last few weeks I’ve been using a new product that I thought you may all want to learn about. You may be seeing this display at your local stores or you may have contemplated picking one up for you to try. Either way – I’m going to share my thoughts with all of you on this pretty cool and genius product. The DUO is available in Olay, Old Spice and Ivory. I got the Olay – which I was quite happy and excited about. So – what is this interesting showering tool, you must be asking? Well, let’s get into it, shall we? I’ll be giving you the details on the Olay DUO today and sharing my experience on this particular product. Ready? Let’s go!
So what is the Olay DUO? Well, the DUO unites the clean of a bar, the care of a body wash and the experience of a puff/implement, while giving consumers the multi-sensory experience they are looking for and desire for the best of all worlds. Basically, it’s a dual-sided cleaning tool that is infused with a flexible cleanser inside. There are obviously two sides – one side is the scrubby side that exfoliates and renews the skin’s surface and a soft flexible cleanser interior conforms and lathers while the smooth side softens and conditions the skin.
The Olay Duo (Dual-Sided Body Cleanser) retails nationwide for $9.99 – $12.99 (MSRP). Available in popular scents, I got the Olay Soothing Orchid & Black Currant but Old Spice offers Old Spice Swagger and Pure Sport and Ivory has a scent called Refreshing Clean. I can only speak to the Olay Soothing Orchid & Black Currant, but I can tell you that it’s a a fresh and fragrant scent that I’ve been loving. If you are someone who is not fond of fragrance, you may not like that these come scented, but I really enjoyed the smell.
So – with these particular shower duos, using them is easy. You simply just add water. You can experience the DUO daily for a complete, close clean and an invigorated and healthy skin look. By adding water to your DUO, you will start to get a rich lather that is perfect for the body. Use the scrubby side to exfoliate and clean and the smooth side to get a soft and gentle massage for your skin. You can use the DUO daily and hang it dry after each shower. DUO’s built in cleanser indicates when it’s time to dispose and get a new one – when the lather fades, time to buy again. This will give you up to 30 uses.
Why is the DUO so awesome?
Well, it’s more effective than other cleansing bars & tools because of it’s patented multi-layered cleansing technology that delivers a 2x better clean vs. their basic body wash and puff. You get a deeper clean as it exfoliates the surface skin deeper than a body wash puff. You also get a complete clean because the flexible cleanser glides and contours to your every move and groove. And, you get a delightful scent experience with 3-4x more fragrance ingredients than their current bar soaps and body washes.
I haven’t used a bar soap in years but have read that bar soaps are perceived to clean well, though you can trade off on delivering soft and smooth skin. Body washes are perceived to lather and nourish (which is what I used prior to the DUO) well with a great scent experience, but you can trade-off on the deep clean and exfoliation. DUO was invented because 34 percent of men and 44 percent of women in the U.S. say that they are dual users, meaning they use both a body wash and a bar soap to get the clean, lather and soft skin they yearn for. The DUO basically offers benefits of both of those things and eliminates having to use both to get the job done.
My skin feels smooth and soft but really feels like I got a good clean. I’m beyond impressed with what is being offered and I look forward to trying other scents and fragrances. I would love to see this offered in a variety of scents in the future and look forward to trying them all. Here’s the deal – if you are someone that uses a loofah or puff to clean, you’ll enjoy this product. If you are someone who uses a bar soap to clean, you’ll enjoy this product. I love that there is so much in this item that you get a lot of uses from it and it’s something neat and exciting. I like neat and exciting new things.
For over 130 years, from the launch of Ivory bar soap to the introduction of their body wash, Procter and Gamble has delivered innovative products based on the evolution in consumers’ body cleansing behavior. Over the past 20 years, the cleansing category has not seen the introduction of any new forms – until now.
Now, here’s the low down and my actual thoughts of this product. Like I mentioned before, I really did like the scent of the Soothing Black Orchid and Black Currant – while it was stronger than what I’m currently using, I thought it smelled slightly fruity with a tad bit of musk but overall it was a clean scent and one that lingered on the body for hours. When it comes to the type of clean that the DUO provided, I think it surely got me clean without question but left my body and skin feeling soft and moisturized. I didn’t feel like I had a build up of product left behind on my skin and my skin didn’t feel dry at all. I thought I got good exfoliation from the product which is great. I currently use a product called Via Buff and found that this still exfoliated my body of dead skin cells well. I love how the DUO feels against the skin. The exfoliating side really cleaned perfectly, but gentle and the soft side just left my skin feeling nice. And, I just love how convenient this product is – easy to use, no need to deal with messy soap or body wash and considering the price point and how many uses you get out of this product, I think it’s at a reasonable cost. Overall, I will continue to buy this and have purchased another to replace this one since I seen it at my local Walmart this past weekend.

Ugh… the cold and dry winter weather are still taking its toll on my skin, especially since Hawaii has consistently been experiencing “colder than usual” weather this year. I know, I know… with so many friends from around the World – 60 Degrees is not necessarily “cold” – but hey, when you get 90 degree weather year round… the body eventually starts to go on strike when it experiences 40 – 60 degrees over the course of 3 or more months. Nonetheless, I digress. I have my little arsenal of beauty products to help combat the cold while keeping my skin moisturized, but my feet and especially my heels tend to take the most beating. Dry and slightly callused heels, toes and the balls of my feet are absolutely NO BUENO, but thanks to Zim’s Max Crack Creme, the colder months have not been so brutal to my skin.
I featured Zim’s here on my site a few months back, talking about the Zim’s Max Freeze Patches which you can read about here. Today, I’m going to be sharing with you some information on the Zim’s Max Crack Creme and how it worked for me. Zim’s started over 60 years ago with teh creation of Zim’s Crack Creme by a pharmacist in Austintown, Ohio. Local cement workers frequently visited the pharmacy, complaining of dry, cracked skin; since the cement business took its toll on the workers’ hands and feet. The pharmacist saw the need at hand and began developing an all-natural, herbal-based liquid formula designed to help the cement workers. The formula later became what was called “Cement Workers’ Lotion.”
The lotion was sold locally after World War II, and it earned a strong and loyal following. After many years, the product was eventually renamed Zim’s Crack Creme and was introduced on a national level. This product is now one of many available from Zim’s and has become a household name for many.
The Original Zim’s Max Crack Cream Liquid Formula retails for about $6.99 at most retailers and comes in a 2 oz. bottle. It’s an all-natural multi-use liquid herbal formula that softens and moisturizes dry, cracked skin. It’s recommended to use for nighttime but can be used through out the day as well. I prefer to use it at night after getting out of the shower and before bed. You can use this product on hands, feet, elbows, cuticles and so much more. What makes this oil so great is some of the ingredients that it has – Arnica flower extract and Myrcia Oil. I have used Arnica capsules over the years to help with any swelling, bruising, aches and pains in the muscles and sprains as well as for sea sickness for loved ones. Seeing the Crack Cream have Arnica as an ingredient really excited me, because I had hopes that it would be a great treatment for my tired, achy and dry feet.
This liquid formula has been wonderful. Even though it’s been cold – the liquid keeps my skin feeling and looking soft and it’s perfect to use when giving or getting a foot massage. It’s soothing and immediately infuses moisture into the skin. This is not greasy or sticky – your skin will soak it up immediately so it’s fine to use at any time.
The Zim’s Max Crack Creme Creamy Daytime Formula retails for $6.99. It is an herbal formula just like the liquid, but has a lotion like consistency. This product softens and moisturizes dry, cracked skin and is a great compliment to the Original Liquid Formula. Just like the original liquid formula, you can use the Crack Creme Daytime Formula on your hands, feet, elbows, cuticles and so much more. This formula and product are ideal for dry split fingers that you hear are often associated with dry atmosphere weather in wintertime or southwestern climates and for people like my dad who has been a mechanic for years, this works well too.
This has been my go-to for daytime use and in the morning when I get up. My skin can by dry, especially with the cold winter we’re experiencing here and this product has done wonders. It has a minty fresh like scent – definitely not overpowering at all – in fact, you may need to really smell it well to pick up the hint of fragrance.
This particular cream is much like the liquid form in that once you rub it in, it soaks into the skin quickly. You don’t have to worry about your hands being slippery once it has really soaked into your skin and I like this, because it allows me to get back to work or even drive without any issues like traditional hand creams. There is no sticky, slippery or greasy feeling which is a HUGE plus for me.
I love when a product works and works well, but an important thing for me when it comes to products is availability. Zim’s is not only affordable but easy to order off of their website. But, I have been seeing it at my local Walmart which is great because I’m able to stock up or replenish this product once it runs out. I shared these particular products with my dad as well and he thinks they’re awesome, my husband does too. When you get the seal of approval from a man or men that work with their hands… I think you definitely have a winner.
Have you tried anything from Zim’s before? What about the Max Crack Creme or Liquid, do you think you could get some use out of these products during the winter or year long?
