With news articles and stories all over the internet, I’m sure you’ve heard the words: “Sea Buckthorn berry” before, I know I have and over the last few months, it’s become quite popular. Dr. Oz calls it the “Miracle Berry” and others rave about how it’s a power-packed super fruit that should be on everyone’s radar. So – what is this berry and why is it becoming so popular? Today, I’m going to share with you some sea buckthorn products from SeabuckWonders and hopefully I can share with you a little more on this product so you are armed with some information.
The sea buckthorn berry has over 190 phytonutrients and fatty acids (ALL the omegas: 3, 6, 9 and the rae Omega-7) that help to protect against many diseases (including breast cancer), but it also provides soothing relief to many. Many breast cancer patients use sea buckthorn products to reduce the negative effects from chemotherapy and radiation treatments and there are a variety of different uses for this berry in general. For those that are looking for an improvement in your skin – sea buckthorn if filled with antioxidants, vitamins A, E and beta-carotene. With a treasure chest of nutrients, sea buckthorn has been a secret beauty aid in Eastern Asia for over a 1000 years to provide the lasting and necessary benefits for ever-lasting beauty.
Seabuck thorn berry oil is not only high in Omega-7 which helps to moisturize the cell membranes, but the anti-inflammatory properties can have a hugely positive effect on blood levels. I was especially intrigued by this particular miracle berry because of the recent health issues I’ve been experiencing and sea buckthorn berry is known to help maintain healthy blood pressure levels while reducing inflammation, dry-eye symptoms, vaginal dryness and dry skin conditions. It can also assist in hydrating the digestive tract and internal organs and I love that it’s great for the skin and nails – which for me take a beating during the colder months.
So – now that I’ve given you a little information on this miracle berry – I’m going to share with you a brand and their products that I’ve been using over the course of the last few months. I’m excited to share these with you because I love products that are affordable and easy to attain.
SeabuckWonders is the first company that brought Sea Buckthorn products to the United States. The sea buckthorn berries that they harvest are exclusively harvested from the prestine Tibetan region where high altitude and harsh environment have equipped the sea buckthorn with extraordinary biodefense mechanisms with numerous life-giving nutrients such as the rare Omega-7. The SeabuckWonders 100% pure Sea Buckthorn oil contains up to 30-35% Omega-7, the highest concentration known in the natural world, that provides the best results possible. All of SeabuckWonders products are made of 100% Pure, USDA Certified Organice Sea Buckthorn Oil, are Kosher Certified and are also Non-GMO Project Verfied and Gluten Free.
I tried four products from the line and have my eyes set on a few others that are on my wishlist to pick up. The first I’m going to talk to you about is the Ultimate Hair, Skin and Nails Supplement ($34.97 – 60 vegan softgels / 500 mg each). This supplement helps you to go below the hair, skin and nails to the root of any problems. By combining biotin with the cell membrane nurturing properties of sea buckthorn oil, the blend offers the best support for strength and beauty. As I mentioned previously, winter takes a toll on my body (especially my hair, skin and nails) and I make it a point to take a daily supplement to help with this. The SeabuckWonders Ultimate Hair, Skin & Nails supplement (with Omega-7 and Biotin) have helped to keep my hair stronger than usual while keeping my scalp moisturized so I don’t experience dry, itchy or flakiness. I noticed after about 2 weeks of taking this supplement that my nails grew faster (my nails naturally are long and grow, but they are at their strongest during the summer months and tend to be brittle during winter). They not only were growing faster but also stronger without treatment of my cuticles. My skin is not as dry as it usually is during the winter which to me is probably the biggest plus to see. Normally – my skin is so dry I am lathering layers of moisturizer to combat my Eczema. This is the first winter in a long time since I’ve experienced an Eczema flare up thanks to my skin being so hydrated.
This is the first winter in a long time since I’ve experienced an Eczema flare up thanks to my skin being so hydrated.
The SeabuckWonders Himalayan Sea Buckthorn Exfoliating Facial Cleanser ($16.97 – 4 fl.oz / 120 mL) has also been a welcoming part of my skin care routine. During the winter my skin is so dry that I often layer on different types of moisturizing products but it can also cause my skin to look and feel dull while also causing me to breakout. This exfoliating facial cleanser has been awesome to use the last several months because it not only deep cleans my skin but boosts my skin’s vibrancy. It’s gentle and doesn’t strip my skin of it’s natural oils (which I definitely need) but still exfoliates my skin, leaving it smooth and clearing up my complexion. This is a facial cleanser that is ideal for all skin types because of it’s nutritional properties and leaves my skin feeling clean, balanced and just awesome.
Ingredients: Deionized Water, Decyl Glucoside, Lauryl Betaine, Lauryl Glucoside, Sodium Levulinate, Sodium Anisate, Vegetable Glycerin, Jojoba Esters, Glyceryl Oleate, Hydrolyzed Jojoba Esters, Polyglyceryl-10 Laurate, Xanthan Gum, Coco Glucoside, Carrageenan, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Hippophae Rhamnoides (Sea Buckthorn) Oil, Phenylethyl Alcohol, Sodium Phytate.
The SeabuckWonders Himalayan Sea Buckthorn Facial Cream ($19.97 – 1 fl.oz. / 30mL) has also been a great addition to my skin care regimen. This product includes all the great ingredients that the others do like the Omegas (including Omega-7) and packs a lot of moisture for my dry skin while still keeping my skin in balance. Absolutely lightweight and applies like a breeze, my skin drinks this facial cream up and stays moisturized and rejuvenated all day long. This facial cream helps to minimize my fine lines while smoothing and softening my complexion. I also enjoy the added benefit of it protecting my skin from the damaging effects of the sun and environmental pollutants.
Ingredients: Deionized Water, Hippophae Rhamnoides (Sea Buckthorn) Oil, Vegetable Stearic Acid, Vegetable Glycerin, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Oil, Vegetable Cetyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate, Cetearyl Olivate, Shea Butter, Essential Herbal Blend (Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Tilia Cordata Flower (Linden) Extract, Cornflower Extract, Roman Chamomilla Extract, Hypericum Perforatum (St. John’s Wort) Extract), Phenoxyethanol, Essential Orange Oil, Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera Gel), Pro-Vitamin B-5, Allantoin, Vitamin E, Ethylhexylglycerin.
SeabuckWonders Himalayan Sea Buckthorn Body Lotion ($14.97 – 6 fl.oz. / 180 mL) was also a hit for me. It was awarded the Delicious Living Beauty & Body Award in 2013 and I can definitely see why. Filled with a potent infusion of Omega 3, 6, 9 and the powerful skin-healing Omega 7, SeabuckWonders Body Lotion provides nourishment with age-defying properties for soft and healthy skin. I think this product will easily be a favorite of mine for years to come, especially during the winter. It’s intensely moisturizing without feeling oily/greasy or sticky. When applied to the skin, it soaks right in while leaving my skin and body feeling touchable soft. With a high concentration of sea buckthorn oil, this lotion allows for superior moisture retention while protecting the skin from various signs of aging and effects of exposure to the sun. My knees, elbows and feel LOVE this lotion and I love the light orange scent. It’s amazing!
Ingredients: Deionized Water, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Oil, Vegetable Stearic Acid, Hippophae Rhamnoides (Sea Buckthorn) Oil, Vegetable Glycerin, Vegetable Cetyl Alcohol, Shea Butter, Cetearyl Olivate, Glyceryl Stearate, Essential Herbal Blend (Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Tilia Cordata Flower (Linden) Extract, Cornflower Extract, Roman Chamomilla Extract, Hypericum Perforatum (St. John’s Wort) Extract), Phenoxyethanol, Essential Orange Oil, Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera Gel), Pro-Vitamin B-5, Ethylhexylglycerin, Vitamin E.
I have my eyes set on a few other products to try from SeabuckWonders, especially the supplements. As I mentioned previously, I have been dealing with a plethora of health ailments, so adding some new supplements to my regiment will surely help. I’m beyond impressed with the products I’ve tried so far and I am definitely interested in picking up and ordering more that SeabuckWonders offers.
Like I mentioned previously, each product is reasonably priced – in fact, it’s quite affordable when you think of the benefits. SeabuckWonders products were the first I’ve tried with Sea Buckthorn Oil and my experiencing has definitely been a positive one. I know this was a lengthy review/feature, but I wanted to make sure you had as much information as possible to be able to make a decision on whether or not you wanted to try these. As I say with anything I talk about here, my experience with one product may be different from those that you may have. It’s important to make an informed decision before trying anything obviously, but I love sharing products I’ve been enjoying.

So how about you? Have you heard of Sea buckthorn oil or berries before and have you used it or products that include it? What are your thoughts on this “supposed” miracle berry?

I know, I know… we are already in the second month of the new year, but it really is the perfect time to get started on a great skin care regimen (if you haven’t already started). By this time, your skin is probably over the dry and cold winter weather and looking for a way to escape – I know mine is. I find that this time of the year is the perfect time to get my skin in check and get it clear, healthy and ready to welcome Spring. I also find that since I’ve been using minimal makeup lately, I really need to make sure that the products I choose will help bring my fresh and bright face forward. I try a lot of skin care products and over the last month or so, I also included Derma E into that mix. Let’s check it out, shall we?
The first thing I wanted to touch base on is the Derma E Purifying 2-in-1 Charcoal Mask ($19.50 – Net. wt. 1.7 oz / 48g). Now a similar mask from Derma E has been one of my favorites over the last year or so, but I love the new packaging design and overall look of their products and the new additives that this mask has. This mask helps to deeply detoxify the skin of harmful micropollutants in two ways: 1) The natural clays infused with Kimarine Wakame, Bladerwrack and Activated Charcoal lift out dirt, oil and bacteria to congest pores as the mask dries; and 2) Apricot Seed Powder exfoliates away dead skin cells and captured debris upon removal while the Kaolin and Bentonite Clay absorb excess oils and impurities, relieving skin congestion.
Now – let’s talk a bit technical for a moment and discuss how this all works – shall we? The Kimarine Wakame is a potassium-rich, magnesium-rich seaweed that is clinically proven to protect the skin against environmental pollutants like exhaust fumes, cigarette smoke and heavy metals. Bladderwrack is an antioxidant-rich, mineral-rich seaweed known for its water-binding properties, supporting healthy skin hydration and nourishment. The Activated Charcoal is known for absorbing 100 to 200 times its weight in impurities, to purge the pores of deeply rooted toxins and the Apricot Seed Powder gently exfoliates away the micropollutants. All of these things working together create a mask that is ideal for oil, active or urban skin types, and is safe for reactive skin since it has minimal ingredients and is allergy tested. Derma E suggests using this formula once or twice a week to see skin that looks dramatically fresher, healthier and purely glowing.
Now – I talked about how I have used the other mask in the past but there is a bit of a difference in this mask versus the other Purifying 2-in-1 Charcoal Mask I’ve used. I can only use that mask once every 2 weeks or so to avoid and Eczema flare up, but this one I could use once a week. This mask has small little Apricot Seeds inside to really help with exfoliating. After using this mask my skin looks so bright, fresh and clean and it’s one of my favorites to use about 3-4 days before a big event or date night because my skin is literally glowing. Using this mask in combination with my other skin care products (from different brands) has been great and I’m loving that I can get these products at my local stores, making it easy for me to consistently keep up with the regimen.
Next on my list is the Derma E Purifying Daily Detox Scrub ($15.50 – Net. wt. 4 oz. / 113g). This scrub is one of my favorites for my sensitive skin. It’s gentle enough for daily use to help lift away micropollutants and impurities while still promoting oxgenation for a fresh, healthy radiant look. This mask is Doctor developed and clinically tested. It is a revitalizing formula that contains some of the most powerful minerals and natural toxin fighters from the earth and from the sea. With Kimarine Wakame (which I mentioned above and stated what it’s great benefits are) to Bladderwrack, Activated Charcoal, Apricot Seed Powder and Green Tea which delivers potent antioxidant defense. This product is also ideal for oily skin and is safe for reactive skin since it also has minimal ingredients and is allergy-tested. If you are looking for a formula that boosts skin purity for a refreshed, glowing complexion, you’ll really enjoy this one.
While you can use this scrub daily, I only use it every other day since again, my skin is quite sensitive. I love how fresh and clean my skin feels after I’ve used this scrub and I think it will be one of those products that I enjoy from Derma E. I love that this scrub is non-irritating and soothes my skin leaving it really soft after just one use. I will a notation however, that this is not the traditional type of scrub you would expect to use, it’s thicker than usual (because of the clay) and the bits of Apricot Seed Powder is larger than I had expected. It makes a great scrub for the body too – though I’ve been enjoying it on my face.
This particular scrub is 100% vegan, cruelty-free, paraben-free, sulfate-free, mineral oil free, lanolin-free, gluten free and GMO-free.
Like I said before, while I do have a certain regimen I like to keep to and love trying new skin care products, it’s kind of cool to add new ones to my mix and I’ve been enjoying these from Derma E. Have you tried anything from Derma E and if you have, what are your favorites or the ones you enjoy? Have you tried these? If so, what do you think about them.

Let’s talk a bit about how I’m loving Pixi Beauty skin care products lately. I’ll be honest, over the last few years I’ve actually been using Pixi Beauty makeup and cosmetic products, not so much their skin care – so I had no idea how much I would absolutely enjoy the products I have been using over the last few months. A few recent additions to my skin care regimen from Pixi are the Glowtion Day Dew, Glow Mist, Beauty Sleep Cream and 24K Eye Elixir and I thought, since we are in the midst of the winter… what better to talk about then some products that can give you that glow during the colder months.
The Glowtion Day Dew ($22.00) is a radiance-boosting moisturizer for a lit-from-within glow. This moisturizer is lightweight and soothes the skin while blurring imperfections & giving you the glow your skin tends to lack during the winter months. It offers an advanced illuminating skin-perfector finish and nourishes while giving a boost to dull skin. I love how hydrating this product is and since my skin is absolutely death dry, this product really helps to keep it moisturized through out the day. My skin looks healthier and much more even.
With lavender oil to help calm the skin, kaolin to help purify and mica to add a luminous and brightening glow – this product has literally been my go-to over the last few weeks. I use it in the morning and apply a really thin layer to my cleansed and toned skin. To add a little extra glow, I simply dab a little extra onto the high points of my face for a luminous finish. Since I don’t use foundation, I love to use this product on it’s own, but it works well under your foundation or BB Cream and makes a great base for your makeup.
Ingredients: Water, Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Butylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Glycerin, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Titanium Dioxide, Cetyl, PEG/PPG-10/1 Dimethicone, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, Sodium Chloride, PEG-10 Dimethicone, Mica, Calcium Titanium Borosilicate, Phenoxyethanol, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Tin Oxide, Silica, Kaolin, Silica Silylate. 35 ml/ 1.18 fl.oz.
The Glow Mist ($15.00) is a mist-on anytime type of mist that has 13 natural oils and propolis. I LOVE this thing. Again, since my skin is so dry during the winter months – this mist is the perfect travel companion. I use it to help refresh or revive my makeup or to hydrate my skin while out and about or at home. I have my eyes set on the Hydrating Milky Mist and plan to get my hands on that too (more on that in the future). Anyway, back to the Glow Mist… this product gives your skin a glowing, luminous and smooth complexion. With natural oils plus propolis, aloe vera and fruit extracts to help hydrate, protect and nourish your skin. It’s a multi-use mist and you can use it for setting your makeup or to add a dewy finish to your skin. Looking to protect your skin, refresh your makeup or add some extra glow? Well, this is the mist for you. I especially love that it is suited for all skin types.
I literally spray this mist in the morning and night when needed. It’s easy to use, just shake to mix it up, close your eyes and mist over your face & neck. It is a light weight mist, smells refreshing and earthy and it’s not sticky at all. With the additives of Tea tree Oil, Jojoba Oil, Macadamia Oil and so much more I get all the benefits of some of my favorite oils and hydrated skin when I need it.
Ingredients: Water, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Dipropylene Glycol, Butylene Glycol, Propolis Extract, Niacinamide, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Betaine, Sodium Hyaluronate, PEG/PPG-17/6 Copolymer, Panthenol, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Oil, Rosa Canina Fruit Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Macadamia Integrifolia Seed Oil, 1,2-Hexanediol, Caprylyl Glycol, Illicium Verum (Anise) Fruit Extract, Adenosine, Rose Flower Oil, Tagetes Minuta Flower Oil, Mentha Arvensis Leaf Oil, Elettaria Cardamomum Seed Oil, Thymus Vulgaris (Thyme) Oil, Eugenia Caryophyllus (Clove) Leaf Oil, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Vetiveria Zizanoides Root Oil, Cymbopogon Schoenanthus Oil, Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender)
Beauty Sleep Cream ($24.00) is a great nutrient-rich nighttime essential to help protect and nourish your skin. This is a great addition to any winter time routine, especially for those with dry skin – because it is not only nourishing but comforts and soothes your skin, prepping it for the next day. Fast absorbing and rich in nutrients, this product is a great night-time essential to help hydrate your skin while you sleep. Made with 100% natural mango butter, oils of lavender, lemon and bergamot and other great ingredients – this product is the perfect night time moisturizer.
I apply a thin layer to my clean and toned skin at night prior to bed and let it do it’s trick. When I wake up in the morning, my skin is soft and supple and hydrated to start the day.
Ingredients: Water, Stearic Acid, Glycerin, Dipropylene Glycol, Butylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Hexyl Laurate, Hydrogenated Polydecene, Methyl Methacrylate Crosspolymer, Glacier Water, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Squalane, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Phenoxyethanol, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Triethanolamine, Potassium Hydroxide, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Gentiana Lutea Root Extract, Artemisia Absinthium Extract, Mangifera Indica (Mango) Seed Butter, Allantoin, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Butylene Glycol, Acer Saccharum (Sugar Maple) Extract, Octyldodecanol, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Peel Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Disodium EDTA, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil, Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil, Pentylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Caprylyl Glycol, BHT. 35 ml / 1.18 fl.oz.
Lastly out of the bunch is the Pixi 24K Eye Elixir ($22.00) has been a favorite for me the last month. I use eye creams, gels and roller balls in various sorts under and around my eye area to keep it hydrated and help with any fine lines I have from allergies and I have found this product is a great one for all of that. This elixir is an anti-fatigue peptide serum that massages away puffiness as it smooths and refreshes the eye area. A multi-tasker of sorts that is infused with powerful age-defying ingredients to help refresh eyes and prevent the signs of fatigue. With Collagen to help repair the delicate eye area, peptides to help plump fine lines and raspberry to tone the skin – you get a great all in one that’s perfect for everyday use.
I love putting this elixir in the fridge for a while to cool the product and the rollerball applicator to help awaken my senses and my eyes each morning. The applicator is cool and soothes the eye while encouraging circulation. You can use this in the morning or at night and it’s as easy as rolling the applicator under the eye from inner to outer corner approximately 2-3 times. Since I don’t have any heavy wrinkles, I do notice a big difference in how hydrated and awake my under eyes look as well as the de-puffing in that area (though I do not have really bad puffy eyes). This product is perfect for me to use on days when I woke up after a restless night or if my allergies are bothering me.
Ingredients: Water, Dipropylene Glycol, Glycerin, Phenoxyethanol, Allantoin, Ethylhexylglycerin, Arginine, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Disodium EDTA, Adenosine, Trideceth-10, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Rubus Idaeus (Raspberry) Fruit Extract, Butylene Glycol, Iron Oxides (CI 15985, CI 17200), Steareth-20, 1,2-Hexanediol, Hydrolyzed Collagen, N-Hydroxysuccinimide, Chlorhexidine Digluconate, Potassium Sorbate, Gold, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, Chrysin, Palmitoyl Oligopeptide, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7. 10ml/ 0.34 fl.oz.
I think, like with all skin care – it really is about the person’s individual tastes, skin type and what they want to do for their skin. Pixi products are reasonably priced – a little higher in price point then your standard drugstore finds, but I have been loving their products thus far. I’m very impressed with this particular products because winter is when my skin is most delicate, sensitive and finicky and when I can try a set of products without any issue – I consider that a win in my book. Each of these products offer your skin some glow while keeping it hydrated and luminous and let’s face it – your skin is most dull in the winter months so anything that will give you luminosity, is a huge plus. If I had to choose just one product out of the four that I can’t simply live without, I think the Glowtion Day Dew would probably be it and of course, the 24K Eye Elixir is a must-have in my book. All of the products are wonderful regardless and if you’re near a Target or love to shop online, I highly suggest checking them out.
You can learn more about Pixi Beauty on their website at: https://www.pixibeauty.com/ or at your local Target store.
Have you tried anything from Pixi Beauty? Any of these products on your must-have list? Looking for more information on other Pixi products? If so, check out these links for other reviews and features I’ve done for Pixi in the past.
Have a fabulous rest of your day! xo

I have talked about the Soniclear from Michael Todd time and time again. The Soniclear and Foreo Luna have become some of my holy grail products that I’ve been loving over the last couple of years and I use them faithfully each week as a part of my skin care regimen. What can I say – I love a clean face that doesn’t cause my Eczema to flare up or my sensitive skin to go wonky. While I own several different variations of the Michael Todd Soniclear, I was recently introduced to some attachments and brush heads for the Soniclear Elite that I’ve been eyeing myself for the last several months. Today – let’s talk about the Soniclear Elite Deluxe.
The Soniclear Elite Deluxe from Michael Todd is similar to that of the Soniclear Elite which I currently own, but includes a variety of attachments for you to use with your unit. The Deluxe features the Soniclear Unit in your selection of style – I have Hippie Chic. You also get different attachments to help and assist with your cleaning.
With the Deluxe you will receive the Antimcirobial PEDI treatment head for smoothing foot care, the Extension Handle for those hard to reach places on your back and legs and a convenient Shower Organizer and Hard Shell Travel Case. I also have several other attachments that I mix and match with my unit for ease of use.
I have written about Soniclear Elite here on this site many times, but let’s talk a little about it again shall we? The Soniclear Elite is cordless and rechargeable. It provides up to an hour of continuous use on a single charge. It’s waterproof so you can use the unit in the shower or bath which is where I prefer to use it, especially since I use the body brush as part of my shower routine.
The Power Control Handle produces up to 300 sonic movements per second for 6x better cleansing than with hands alone and you get an Antimicrobial Daily Cleanse brush that is gentle, effective and the brush bristles are sized and uniquely rounded at the tip for gentle cleansing. The Antimicrobial brush is perfect for stains and odor causing bacteria protection. You also get the Antimicrobial body brush (which I love) for exfoliating the body to give you a smoother and softer feeling skin.
The unit comes with Multiple Speeds with C-Boost Technology. 6 sonic speeds provide customizable cleansing experience for your specific skin type and skin concerns. C-Boost provides a pulsating massage designed to rev-up your skincare regimen. A Cleansing Time is built in to keep automatic time and beeps to remind you to move to the next cleansing area.
With a comfort grip that is soft and will help to provide increased comfort to prevent slipping – you have a complete unit that is ready to go and use when you are. I love that the Soniclear Elite gets the job done while helping to make my job easier since the unit is so easy to use. As I mentioned before, I have more than one unit and keep one in the shower for my body scrubbing and one in the bathroom for facial cleansing. I also love that the units offer great cleaning but now have so many other fine attachments.
One of my absolute favorite accessories is the Lush Cashmere Face Brush ($30.00). This antimicrobial brush is a gentle cleansing brush that is perfect for every day use on my sensitive skin. Since I cannot use my soniclear on my face daily with the standard face brush, I love that I have the option with a different brush head. This brush head is soft and feels wonderful. It looks like it’s rubber, but is soft bristles similar to those on a makeup brush – soft to the touch and my face loves it. This brush is gentle enough for me to use daily (as I mentioned) but I love that the bristles are long enough to get in places easily like my nose and doesn’t irritate my skin at all while still offering a great clean.
The cashmere brush is a plush facial brush that has longer and extra soft cashmere-like bristles to provide gentle yet thorough facial cleansing. It’s ideal for boosting hydration while gently cleansing pores, fine lines and wrinkles. This brush micro massages away makeup, dirt, oil and perspiration to reveal a complexion that feels softer, cleaner and better hydrated. This is especially suitable for all skin types, including mature and sensitive, easily irritated skin. This brush head is compatible with all devices except the Soniclear Classic.
The Sonic Infuser Head for the face ($35.00) is also a great tool to have. This infuser head allows you to harness the power of sonic movements to apply your serums and creams onto the skin for maximum efficiency. Since most skin care products you apply with your fingers are usually absorbed by your fingertips and evaporate before working, the sonic infuser head helps you to apply these products differently. The sonic delivery system disperses the product thoroughly and more evenly so that it can work for you. With sonic movements at hundreds of times per second to help put that serum and cream in the epidermis instead of settling on the surface of the skin.
Did I mention I’m absolutely loving the extension handle ($25.00). I use one of my Soniclear brushes in the shower and let’s just say getting to my back with my short arms requires me to call my husband for assistance. Having the extension handle has been a lifesaver and keeps my device secure and in place so that it doesn’t fall. With daily use it has held up without any issues which I love.
If you are interested in checking out the Soniclear Elite and the accessories for yourself – you can check them out here: http://www.michaeltoddbeauty.com/soniclear-elite-deluxe/
I am a huge fan of this device. I own 4 myself and have purchased three for family members over the years. It’s a device I use and love and I absolutely enjoy the fact that these attachments that you can get make the unit so versatile for the whole body in any beauty routine. Family members have loved when I have purchased these for them and they use them consistently as well. I have written about Soniclear so many times on HGW that it’s becoming a name that is familiar here. Like with anything you see on this site, if I don’t like it – you’ll know about it. This is definitely something I like and I love sharing it with all of you. The way I see it, your skin is something you have to live with your entire life, so you might as well invest in it the best you can.
Have you tried the Soniclear Elite from Michael Todd? If so, what do you think about it? If not, is this something you may have on your Holiday wishlist this year?
When it comes to skin care, I try a lot of different products and I do have my favorites from different brands. With sensitive skin, I always find that there are a lot of brands that cause my skin to flare up, so I’m very particular with what I use. One of the brands I do enjoy is Derma E. Today I’m going to share with you some exciting news and a little info as well as my thoughts on their Derma E Hydrating Day and Night Creams.
Derma E’s new packaging launched in September 2016 and I must say, I’m quite excited and loving the new design. The products still offer the great quality we can expect from Derma E, with a sleek packaging quite different from what we are accustomed to. With a new packaging design being rolled out through March 2017, you can expect to see this branding popping up in your favorite retailsers like Whole Foods, Sprouts, Ulta Beauty and many others. There will be no compromising their great formulas – as you’ll still be getting their eco-ethical, non compromising formulas in a new packaging that is a stunner. I honestly enjoy the fresh look of these, they look chic and branding is definitely on point.
To appeal 100% to their consumers, Derma E decided it was time to update their look and feel of the brand. Their social sites, website, store displays and more will be changing (if they haven’t already) and you’ll notice the new branding through out.
About the Brand:

In the photo below, you can see how the old packaging (Derma E Hydrating Day Creme) compares to the new packaging (Derma E Hydrating Night Cream). While the logos are similar, they still offer a very different feel than before. I like how the new packaging really encompasses the lotus and offers branding that really is on par with the brand and their products.
I have used various products from Derma E in the past, but this is the first time I’ve had the opportunity to try the Hydrating Day and Night Creams. I wanted to share my thoughts with you on these products and chit chat about how they have been working with my sensitive skin.
The Derma E Hydrating Day Creme with Hyaluronic Acid offers my very dry skin Intensive rehydrating treatment in one use. For just $29.50 you get 2 oz / 56 g worth of product that is perfect for dry to normal skin. I love how thick this cream is. It smooths onto the face nicely and offers my face the much needed moisture to keep from flare ups and irritations. It is perfect to be used under your makeup and works well with other skin care products in my regimen. The hydrating day cream helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by replumping the skin with moisture. With Hyaluronic Acid to deliver powerful hydration to help keep skin soft, smooth and youthful looking. It also includes Vitamins A, C & E plus an antioxidant Green Tea to help protect the skin from environmental damage.
Ingredients: Purified Water (Aqua), Cetyl Alcohol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Glycerin, Stearic Acid, Glyceryl Stearate, Ceteareth 20, Sodium Hyaluronate (Hyaluronic Acid; Actimoist® Bio-1), Ascorbyl Palmitate (C-Ester), Panthenol (Provitamin B5), Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Retinyl Palmitate (Vitamin A), Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Extract, Organic Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract* (.1%), Organic Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract* (.1%), Organic Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil* (.1%), Titanium Dioxide, Allantoin, Polysorbate 60, Dimethicone, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Plumeria Blossom Fragrance.
The Derma E Hydrating Night Cream is especially great for my dry skin. Retailing for $29.50 (2 oz / 56 g) you get a lot of product to help keep up with your skin care regimen. The Hydrating Night Cream has Hyaluronic Acid and other beneficial ingredients (just like the day cream) to help keep your skin supple and moisturized. Like the Hydrating Day Creme, the Night Cream is extra-rich and thick. It offers intense hydration to help replenish all of the anti-aging moisture to your skin while you sleep. The Vegan based Hyaluronic Acid replumps the skin to help reduce the appearance of dryness, fine lines and wrinkles. And, the antioxidant rich Green Tea and enriching Vitamins A, C and E help to soften and smooth the look of dehydrated skin.
Ingredients: Purified Water (Aqua), Glycerin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Sodium Hyaluronate (Hyaluronic Acid; Actimoist® Bio-1), Ascorbyl Palmitate (C-Ester), Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Retinyl Palmitate (Vitamin A), Panthenol (Provitamin B5), Allantoin, Organic Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract* (.1%), Organic Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract* (.1%), Cetyl Alcohol, Stearyl Alcohol, Dimethicone, Xanthan Gum, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer (Aristoflex®), Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Plumeria Blossom Fragrance.
I’ve been using these two products now for about 3 1/2 weeks and combine them with other Derma E products I love. With colder weather on its way to Hawaii, my skin tends to get drier and I am always in need of good moisturizers and creams to help keep my skin / face looking youthful. Since I haven’t used these products before, I was not only intrigued to give them a whirl, but also impressed with how well they do work.
I love moisturizing products that provide my skin with the much needed hydration they need, but that do not clog my pores or cause me to have any funky reactions. That’s why I love Derma E products so much. Used with other skin care that I love, I know that I’ll get the moisture I need, without sacrificing the quality I’ve come to expect. Both creams smooth into my skin nicely and absorb quickly – but you must make sure that you do not use too much. Since each of these creams are fairly thick, a light, thin layer is all you need. If you naturally have oily skin, I think these creams may be a bit too thick for you, but for someone with dry skin like myself, they seem to work very well. In my honest opinion though, I’m not too fond of the fragrance for both of these products, so I’m glad that once it soaks into my skin, I can’t smell it as much. Living in Hawaii, Plumeria is something you smell often here, but since I now have sensitivities to fragrances, I find that it is a bit too strong for me. Thankfully, it fades after a few minutes, but that also means I can’t use these products on days when my allergies are at its worst, because those few minutes – can seem like an eternity when I’m already sneezing like a mad woman.
I enjoy the texture of both products and my skin loves them – it’s perfect for my dry Eczema prone skin. Derma E products are fairly affordable and I love that I can walk into my local Whole Foods and pick up a few products when I need them. There hasn’t really been a product I haven’t enjoyed from Derma E and any of them that I struggle with, I have learned to adapt according to my skin care and needs. I’m loving the new packaging as well – while I’m a fan of purple and loved how they really were bold and bright, I think the new packaging offers a serenity to the brand and I enjoy it.
So what about you? Are you liking the new packaging / branding for Derma E? Have you tried Derma E products before, and if so – what are your favorite products?

As National Honey Month comes to an end, I’m sad to see it go. Honey is one of my favorite things – maybe it’s because of my name, maybe it’s because it tastes great, but nonetheless – I love it. Oddly enough though, I’m allergic to bees – deathly allergic, like anaphylaxis allergic, so as much as I love the beautiful sweet nectar these creatures create, I observe the beauty from a distance. I digress though… let’s chit chat Honey. So – September is National Honey Month, a celebratory and promotional month/event that is held annually during the month with a purpose to promote US beekeeping. The beekeeping industry is so important in that honey is used as a natural and beneficial sweetener. But, now a days there is honey in all kinds of products and today I’m going to share with you a few of them that I’ve been loving lately.
September was selected as National Honey Month as an awareness month initiated by the National Honey Board in 1989. September is significant for honey producers as it is the month that marks the end of the honey collection season for many beekeepers in the United States. Different types of honey are used in various products like skin care and hair (it’s not just for food any longer) and it’s one of my favorite ingredients in my skin care routine. Since honey is naturally antibacterial, it’s great for treating and preventing acne. It’s also full of antioxidants to help aid in slowing down aging and is extremely moisturizing and soothing giving your skin a gorgeous glow. I am constantly on the hunt for products that have honey so I’m sharing with you two brands that have caught my eye lately.
beelove offers a variety of natural skin and body care products from lotions and lip balms to body creams, scrubs and shower gels. Each product has the sweet fragrance of honey – soft and not overpowering and I absolutely love that they are handcrafted in batches.
beelove Replenish & Soften, Soften & Restore body lotion (net wt. 9 oz. / $17.00 – $4.00 for the smaller size): is an all natural skin moisturizer and conditioner. It has a lighter formula than the body cream and absorbs easily into the skin leaving your skin feeling smooth and soft. This is my every day moisturizer since I’ve started using it and is what I use after washing my hands or the dishes to help revitalize my hands and cuticles. It’s been perfect for my sensitive skin and I look forward to using it during the winter months when my eczema usually flares up.
beelove Polish & glow honey and brown sugar scrub (net wt. 8 oz. / $19.00): is the perfect skin pampering treat. The raw brown sugar crystals gently smooth away dry, dull skin cells to reveal fresh energizing skin and a healthy glow. This scrub is very gentle and leaves your skin feeling smooth and soft as well as moisturized. I love using this scrub on my feet and toes and on places like my elbows and knees for a great exfoliating treatment without a harsh scrub.
beelove Nourish & Smooth Body Cream (net wt. 8 oz / $22.00): This is definitely going to be one of my favorite fall and winter products. This body cream is silky and rich and so moisturizing for my skin. I absolutely love it. It’s what I use on my knees and elbows and all my dry areas to help hydrated the skin and leave it silky smooth and soft. This cream is made with natural honey, 35% shea butter and silk protein to condition the skin, soften and deeply moisturize. It also helps to tone the skin and add a full hydration treatment to quench your skin’s thirst. I use this cream after getting out of the shower at night. It does it’s magic immediately but when I wake up in the morning, my skin feels absolutely silky smooth and I love it.
What’s so great about beelove is that they also harvest their own honey to create their products. Their worker bees are treated with the utmost care and respect since Honeybees are responsible for pollinating 70% of U.S. food crops, yet 30% of the U.S. honeybee population have disappear in just five years they work to keep them thriving. beelove keep their bees far from the harmful pesticides of corporate agriculture and only take half of the honey from the bees, leaving them an ample food supply. Their honey that they harvest is wild and raw with a taste and feel you’ll love and that is what goes into the luxurious skin care products.
The next brand and goodies on my list are from Savannah Bee. Savannah Bee Company grew out of the founders passion for bees, beekeeping and honey. Their specialty honey is the culmination of a 35 year search for the world’s best. Their beauty products delivery real benefits derived from treasured hive ingredients – beeswax, royal jelly, propolis and honey. I talked about Savannah Bee in a previous post last year featuring their Royal Jelly Body Butter (you can read about it here) and it’s still a favorite as you can see. I have recently been introduced to the Savannah Bee Honey Body Lotion and Honey Body Wash and I knew I just had to share them each with you. Let’s chit chat about them, shall we?
Savannah Bee Honey Body Lotion ($9.99 / net. wt. 8 fl.oz.) is available in 5 scents – Wild Blackberry, Lemongrass Spearmint, Orange Blossom, Unscented and Tupelo Honey. The Tupelo Honey is my favorite, but I was able to try the lemongrass spearmint this time around and I like the invigorating scent it offers. It has a fresh and earthy type of fragrance. Each body lotion contains aloe vera, coconut oil and honey to help nourish and hydrate your skin. It’s non-sticky, which I love and the travel size fits perfectly in my purse for on the go. My skin is always smooth and feels soft after using anything from Savannah Bee.
Savannah Bee Honey Body Wash ($12.50 / net. wt. 8 fl.oz.) is available in four awesome scents – Wild Blackberry, Lemongrass Spearmint, Orange Blossom and Tupelo Honey. This body wash includes honey which is a nourishing, but gentle cleanser that naturally exfoliates your skin so it’s a great little skin treatment for the whole body. The body wash is formulated with 100% all-natural ingredients and contains no parabens or petroleum. I love the Tupelo Honey fragrance and it leaves my skin feeling clean, moisturized and smooth.
So while I sit here sipping on my tea and honey for the day, I remind you that Honey is such a fun and exciting product. Honey never spoils when it’s sealed, but raw honey may crystalize. You can gently restore honey by placing the jar in warm water – do not microwave or boil. Honey is the oldest natural sweetener and has been found in many ancient civilizations, being utilized to treat various skin and beauty treatments, health ailments and so much more. And, what I think is the coolest part about Honey is that it’s color and flavor vary based on source of nectar and the season… you could say – it’s based on the mood… just like me, it can be sweet, bitter or perfect at a moments notice… lol.
You can purchase or learn more about the products I mentioned in this post at the following sites:

If you are allergic to honey – I’m so sorry about that. But if you’re not, I highly suggest looking into honey for your skin care needs as well as all your foodie love. Happy honey beekeeping and Happy Honey Month!
