Valentine’s Day is a holiday filled with soft pinks and sweet kisses and as a tradition, each year I have created a Valentine’s Day look using the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palettes.  This year I decided I would go ahead and do a “GRWM” Style makeup look that features the newly released Too Faced Bon Bons Palette and add it to my tradition.  “Just Call Me Sweetheart” is a soft and sweet Valentine’s Day look that can be used day or night but it is an easy look to create that features a little pop of pink that’s subtle with a little sexy.  I hope you enjoy this look.  Check out the video below and hang out and talk story as I get ready and create this Valentine’s Day look.

Creating this look meant it needed to be quick and easy.  From start to finish I say it took me about 25 minutes to complete.  I wanted this to be a wearable makeup look that could be used for day or night.  If you want to spice things up a bit – you could surely add a pair of flirty false lashes to the look to make it a bit more glam, but I opted to go for my mini lashes (natural lashes) and the look was complete.  To create this look I used the following products:

  • Eye brows:  Billion Dollar Brows Universal Brow Pencil and Taupe Brow Powder set with BDB Brow Gel
  • Eye shadow base / primer:  Milani Eye Primer
  • Eye shadow palette – Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Palette, shadows used:  Divinity (all over the lid from lash line to brow bone), Mocha (transition shade), Molasses Chip (lid), Bordeaux (outer v / outer corner and lower lash line), Dark Truffle (used to deepen the outer corner), Totally Fetch (lower lash line blended with Bordeaux), Satin Sheets (inner corner highlight), Divinity and Cashew Chew (brow bone highlight)
  • Mascara:  Essence Get Big!  Lashes Volume Boost in Waterproof (black)
  • Eyeliner:  Milani Kohl Kajal Eyeliner
  • Foundation:  PUR Hydra Fluid Water Serum Foundation in Tan (I don’t use foundation normally, but I’m trying this one out… so if you want, you can opt to go without foundation as I would normally).
  • Blush:  Too Faced Love Flush Blush Palette – Blush in Love Hangover
  • Lips:  Jordana Twist Up Lip Liner in Rock-n-Rose, topped and layered with ColourPop Lippy Stix in Lumiere and Milani Matte Naked Color Statement Lipstick.  Later in the day, I switched up my lips and added ColourPop’s Bumble for all day smooch-proof lips.

Valentine's Day, OOTD, MOTD, FOTD, Valentine's day makeup look, valentine's day makeup tutorial, soft makeup look, sweet makeup look, beauty, Too Faced Bon Bon,

When I created this, I wanted this look to be soft with a pop of color so I opted to use fluffy brushes to apply and put down most of the shades on my eyes.  If you really wanted to you could use a more defined brush for precision but I really wanted the eyes to look diffused so each shade was applied using a blending brush except for the lid shade which I used a pretty large eye shadow brush to lay down the shade.

If pink is not your favorite color for the lips, you could opt for a nude lip shade and it would still do very well with the eye look.  Play around with colors and see what you think will work for your skin tone and your overall look.

I know Summer has just begun for many but here in Hawaii, it’s been hot and these hurricanes and tropical storms keep sweeping in near us.  Because of this, I’m truly looking forward to Fall and Winter and I find that I have been really craving that cool Hawaii Winter weather a lot lately.  Inspired by Fall shades, I decided I was going to use a Berry Smoky Eye today and since I haven’t been using much makeup lately, I was really excited to play with color.  Today – I share with you my FOTD.

FOTD | Berry Smoky

Since I don’t use foundation or concealer (I know – I say it over and over again), I went ahead and used the YSL Touche Eclat Blur Primer (review here) applying this product all over my face to create a canvas for my other products to last all day.  I then started with my brows.  Today I pulled out my Paula Dorf 2+1 For Brows Kit (review here) and did these babies up a little darker and bolder than I normally wear them to accommodate for my eye makeup.

For my eyes I wanted to pull out some of my ColourPop shadows that I’ve been neglecting lately.  I started with a base – I’m using my Milani Eye Shadow primer.  Then I used ColourPop’s Selfie as my transition shade blending into my crease and fading up towards my brow.  To create a sultry bold burgundy look, I added a blend of In A Pickle and Cheeky on the inner corner of my eye lid blending towards the middle of my lid.  Then taking Drift and blending it from the middle of my lid to the outer corner.  To smoke out the look, I took Hustle and added it to the outer corner of my eye then mixed Hustle and Drift together to apply on the lower lash line.  To create the pop of color and highlight on the inner corner, I used ColourPop’s XO.  To give my browbone a subtle highlight and to diffuse the harsh lines I took Laetus from the Kat Von D Shade & Light Eye Contour Palette and swept that under my bone and blending with ColourPop’s Selfie for a flawless transition.

For eye liner I am using the Milani Kohl Kajal liner in black to line my upper and lower rim and smudge along the lower lash line.  For my winged liner I am using the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper.

FOTD | Berry Smoky

For face products, I used Coastal Scents Forever Blush in Delicate and swept that over ColourPop’s Highlighter in Most Necessary to achieve a slightly bronze glow.  For my highlight I am using Lunch Money as a base topped with Becca’s Champagne Pop Shimmering Skin Perfector (Jaclyn Hill collaboration).  I applied highlight to the top of my cheekbones, along my cupids bow and above the arch of my brows.

For lips I am using Jordana’s EZ Liner in Rock N Rose topped with ColourPop’s Lumiere Lippy Stix.  My mascara for today is a combination of Mary Kay Lash Love Lengthening Mascara and Benefit Roller Lash (top and bottom lashes) and then finished off with a set of Ardell Demi Whispies which are my go-to.  To complete the look – I used YSL’s Touche Eclat Blur Perfector to set my makeup (more so my blush/highlighter) in place all day.

FOTD | Berry Smoky

It’s been quite a while since I’ve shared a Face of the Day – but I’m looking forward to Fall and sharing more fun with all of you.

Fall Berry Smokey Eye

On Halloween I did a makeup look that really sparked a lot of interest… woohoo – it’s nice to do something right for once. lol  I was actually rushing through the eye look so I could do the skull makeup look but the eye makeup look is what caught the attention of everyone and I was asked to do a tutorial.  Now mind you, I’ve been sick pretty much since Halloween, so I haven’t had the chance to really get the tutorial up and when I finally decided to get it going… it turned out much longer than I would have liked.  But, oh well – I digress and move forward.  So since I was feeling like I needed to put some makeup on, I decided to “dress my face” – see what I did there? And, now… onto the tutorial.  It’s a long one because I am chit chatting and talking through all the steps.  Click here to watch directly on YouTube.  All details on the products used as well as photos are posted below.  I hope you all enjoy this Fall Berry Smoky Eye.

Hope you liked my talk through – now onto the photos and all the details.

Fall Berry Smokey Eye

Products used:

  • Coastal Scents Step One Eye Primer
  • Anastasia Beverly Hills Tamanna Dress Your Face Palette – Sangria (used in the brows and on the lid), Bengal (used as transition shade), Chocolate (used in the crease), China Rose (used on the inner third of the eye lid), Noir (used to deepen the outer V), Fresh (used to highlight the browbone) and Venezia (the pop of color used on the inner corner of the eyes).
  • Anastasia Beverly Hills Amrezy Palette – Iridescent Purple (used on the brows as well as the lower lash line), Legend (used to highlight my cheekbones).

In the original eye look for Halloween, I used a blend of Sangria (Tamanna) and Iridescent Purple (Amrezy) but for this specific tutorial I only used Iridescent Purple.  So sorry about that, I just wasn’t feeling well and forgot to add Sangria.

  • Tarte Smolder-eyes Pencil in Fig (used as a base for Sangria and applied on the lower lash line)
  • Jordana 12 Hour Made To Last Liquid Pencil Liner in Black Point (applied to waterline/tightline)
  • New York Color (NYC) Liquid Eye liner in Black (used to create the winged liner)
  • Jordana Best Lash Volumizing Mascara (upper and lower lashes)
  • Kiss EZ Lashes in 11 – false lashes
  • NYX Matte Lip Cream in Istanbul (applied to my lips)
  • Paula Dorf 2+1 For Brows (used to create the shape and define the tail and arch of my brows)

Fall Berry Smokey Eye

I know I said this earlier but this look is very easy to create.  It’s just about layering colors, color placement and of course the colors you choose.  While I didn’t get a chance to do so – you can certainly pair this look with a darker lip shade like a berry or wine or even a nice berry pink.  Nude was the choice I went with because it was right within my reach and I wasn’t feeling very well, otherwise I may have chosen to go for a berry shade myself.

Fall Berry Smokey Eye

Now for the fashion sense, I wasn’t feeling quite well but I do what I always love to do during the Fall and Winter months and that’s throw on a beanie or scarf and rock it out.  On this day I decided a beanie and a pair of gold hoop earrings would suffice.  I also have on a t-shirt… adorned with big bold letters that describe me to a “t”. lol

Fall Berry Smokey Eye

My shirt was custom made by me at HICustom.com in their design lab.  I’ll be sure to have more information on the brand and about the company in a later post.  I’m using a pair of jeans – which is my go to during the colder months.

Fall Berry Smokey Eye

I hope you guys enjoyed this super easy look.  I will have a review on the Tamanna Palette coming soon so stay tuned for that.  Wishing you all the best of these chilly months to come. xo

Oh Fall, how I love thee… let me count the ways. lol  Hawaii is not much for seasons changing, but Fall means that we have cooler weather and sometimes rainy days – which I love.  During this season, I have an addiction with bold smoky eyes, dramatic lips and MAC’s Blue Brown Pigment.  This pigment has been a favorite of mine for many many years and it’s one that I will consistently pull for during the fall season.  While many think it’s a dramatic color, it reminds me of warmth, mint chocolate chip cocoa and gorgeous brown eyes that sparkle.  Because of this, I decided I would use this pigment in a Fall inspired makeup tutorial.  I also wanted to create this look because I think these colors are the perfect combination of makeup for brown eyes.  I hope you guys enjoy it 🙂

fall inspired makeup using MAC blue brown

Creating this look is very easy but since you are working with a pigment, you will want to take your time a bit.  Be sure to check out my makeup tutorial embedded below, or click here to watch this makeup tutorial directly on YouTube.

This look is perfect for those with brown eyes.  I love using warm rich burgundy and bronze shades to create fall looks because it really adds a sultry and sexy look.  However, if you are looking to do something a little more wearable with the blue/brown shade, try adding softer hues like cream and vanilla toned shades.fall inspired makeup using MAC blue brown

If you don’t have MAC’s Blue Brown Pigment, find a shadow with a blue/teal and brown shift. While I’m sure there are other dupes on the market for this costly pigment, you could easily use the Wet n Wild Comfort Zone Palette to create a similar look.  The Dark brown / blue shift shade (definer/right column) is a dupe for MAC’s blue brown pigment and the whole palette retails for $5.00 or less.

To create this look I am using the following products on my eyes:

  • Maybelline Color Tattoo Leather in Creamy Beige
  • Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette: Salted Caramel (transition as well as applied to lower lash line), Semi-Sweet (Crease shade – blended well as well as applied to lower lash line), White Chocolate (highlight on browbone), Champagne Truffle (inner corner highlight), Cherry Cordial (used to deepen the outer v or outer corner of the eye for definition)
  • MAC’s Blue Brown Pigment applied wet with MAC’s 252 Brush (spray with fix +)
  • Mally Evercolor Waterproof Liner in Midnight (waterline, tightline and lower lash line)
  • Cailyn Gel Eyeliner in black (upper lash line with wing)
  • Mascara / Lashes – L’Oreal Voluminous Miss Manga mascara layered with Jordana Best Lash Volumizing Mascara and topped with Kiss EZ Lashes in 05

fall inspired makeup using MAC blue brown

I am using the following products on my face and lips:

  • Olay Total Effects 7 in One CC Cream blended onto the skin lightly with a beauty blender
  • Benefit Hoola Bronzer for Contour and Warmth
  • Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette:  Dim Light (applied like a setting powder) then Radiant light (applied to warm up the face)
  • MAC’s Melba Blush – applied to the top of my cheek bones
  • Wet n Wild Fergie Centerstage Shimmer Palette in Photobomb (applied as a highlight)
  • Jordana EZ Liner Lip liner in Tawny
  • Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Rapture

Want to switch up the lips to a darker shade?  Use J.Cat’s Wonder Lip Paint in Queen of Hearts or a dark vampy burgundy or red shade to switch it up.

I hope you enjoyed the makeup tutorial.  Wishing you all a wonderful fall.

Bella Beauty

I am absolutely ecstatic that Fall is just about here.  I know, I know… I love Summer, but honestly – I look forward to every season as it makes its way and Fall is one of my favorites because I love the makeup and fashion trends.  In collaboration with my friend Beth (Pearlznlacebybethk), I am bringing to you another makeup tutorial.  This is my first fall inspired makeup tutorial – however, we also decided that we would use Milani’s Bella Navy as a common factor in our makeup looks.  She will be creating a Day Time look using the shade as well as other drug store priced items and I have created the Night look.  For years now, I’ve been quite fascinated with adding the “Pop of Color” on the lower lash line, but didn’t think about using a dark blue until I seen Kendra from Citizen’s of Beauty post a look.  Needless to say, I was inspired by her to use a rich blue as she did (you can see her look here), so I hope that I was able to pull it off.  Check out the makeup tutorial I created for this look, pictures and a list of products used below.  If you would like to watch the tutorial directly on YouTube, click here.

On my face, I used a few products to warm up my complexion as well as blush and highlight but I did not mention it in the video.  Those products are:

  • Milani Matte Baked Bronzer in Sienna
  • Milani Luminoso Baked Blush
  • Milani Mosaic Face Powder in Amber Nectar
  • On my brows I am using the Milani Brow & Shape Wax and Milani Bella Cappuccino Shadow to color my brows in

Milani Bella Navy

As you can see from the tutorial, this look is simple to create but definitely has a statement.  I can’t wait to try out the lid shades I used with a purple as my pop of color on the lower lash line.  I think that while it can be a bit bold and edgy – it’s still very wearable and can be worn day or night.  You can deepen the lid shade and use a black or darker brown to create a more sultry and sexy night look as well.

I’ve had the Anastasia Beverly Hills Amrezy Palette now for about a month or more and I have been really enjoying it.  But, I realized that I didn’t have a tutorial up using the product and I always like to do that before posting a review.  Since Hawaii has been dealing with Tropical Storms and hurricanes, it has left me with a bit of cabin fever so I figured the best way to combat the blues is to do a makeup and then head out for some grocery shopping.

Check out my video tutorial embedded before.  Well, actually it is a GRWM (Get Ready with Me) with a little chit chat.  I’ll show you the steps on how I achieved my look and hang out like girlfriends as we talk story a bit. lol  If you want, you can click here to watch directly on YouTube.

GRWM feat. Amrezy Palette

If I were to decide to wear makeup every day – which everyone knows I normally use eye makeup maybe once a week… this would be what I would choose to do – a soft brown smoky eye.  It’s simple to create and since the area between my eye lid and brow is so large… I normally need a soft wash of color to pull a look together.  The Amrezy Palette offers some really nice shades to create just a look for a daytime wearable ensemble or something with a soft pop of color.

Products used (eyes):

  • Too Faced Shadow Insurance
  • Maybelline Color Tattoo Leather Collection – Creamy Beige
  • Anastasia Beverly Hills Amrezy Palette:  Caramel, Morocco, Legend, Glisten, Topaz, Deep Plum
  • Urban Decay 24/7 Velvet Liner – Black Velvet
  • L’Oreal Voluminous Miss Manga Mascara blended with Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara
  • Brows – Cailyn Gelux Brow in Cocoa

GRWM - Feat. Anastasia Beverly Hills Amrezy Palette

I especially love these types of shades because it is perfect for my eye color.  Browns and bronze shades really make my eye color pop and bring out the natural sparkle.

Products used (face):

  • Milani Color Statement Lip liner in All Natural layered with NYX’s Extreme Shine Lip Cream in Nude Peach Fuzz
  • Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso
  • Covergirl True Magic Sunkisser Bronzer
  • Wet n Wild Fergie Centerstage Collection Shimmer Palette in Photo Bomb

I hope you all enjoyed this soft bronze toned look.  It’s perfect for summer but a look that can we worn year round.  Don’t forget to check out my video if you haven’t already and subscribe too.  See you all in my next post. Smooches!

“Love; True love is magic. Not just any magic,

the most powerful magic of all.

It creates happiness.”

It’s no secret that I’m a hopeless romantic.  Disney movies, love stories, soul mates – they are all things I believe in and having found my own Happily Ever After… I whole heartily know that true love exists.  I also know that sometimes it doesn’t just happen over night and it takes time and patience.  Because of this – I have always been fond of love stories, Disney tales that promise forever with true loves kiss and Prince Charming who comes and saves the day.  Call me a kid at heart, but all of these stories had to come from somewhere.

Regina the Evil Queen

“Once Upon a Time…”

After lots of planning, my friend Beth and I decided to collaborate and bring to you inspired makeup looks from the T.V. show Once Upon a Time.  I chose Regina, The Evil Queen.  Let’s face it, she’s literally the epitome of beauty.  While her evil demeanor makes for a great story line, she is much more than her character is often portrayed.  She does care, is not as heartless as she would like people to think and at the end of the day – she just wants to be loved.  She has had a variety of makeup looks and costumes through out the seasons, but I wanted to create a look that spoke sultry and sinister all at the same time.  I didn’t have much to work with and didn’t want to buy any costumes, so I utilized what I had to create a similar or inspired look to the one pictured below.  While my costume does look different, I still wanted to portray a similar look for this video and tutorial, so I squeezed into the smallest, tightest dress I had – it was a task, I’m not gonna lie. lol  Check out my makeup tutorial embedded below or click here to watch directly on YouTube.  Be sure to keep scrolling to check out all the photos, but beware – I wanted to share as much as I could with you… so this post is pic heavy.

While Regina (Lana Parrilla) wore many different looks, her most dramatic ones are always the ones that catch my eye.  I created a dramatic silver/chrome smoky eye with a brown transition to add warmth to the look.  While this look is dramatic and sultry – it’s still very wearable and easy to create.

Regina the Queen Smokey eye

While I do think that sultry dark dramatic smoky eyes are sexy – not many like to rock it out with a bold red lip and my lips are certainly bold. lol  You can mix up the look by using a nude lipstick.  In my July Favorites video – I am using the same eye look but wearing Pops from NYX.  Check out the video here to see a different way you can wear this eye makeup look.

Do you like the scenery for my photos – the ones where I’m wearing the cape?  I want to thank my sissy Harmony for coming and helping me film my intro/outro for my tutorial as well as taking my photos for me.  We had to hike through the rain forest to get to our location… while we certainly enjoyed ourselves and our sisterly bonding time, it was definitely a journey in the very hot Hawaii heat.  I’m very thankful for all her help in putting this together.  Thanks Harmy!

I have been hearing the rave on Orange Is The New Black for quite a few months now – but honestly, I wasn’t really interested in watching it and I don’t know why.  About 3 weeks ago with a suggestion from a friend – I dove into watching Season 1 and 2 (every single episode) and didn’t want to move from my seat through most of the weekend.  I finished the two seasons in about 48 hours and it quickly became a favorite movie of mine.  This Netflix show is a lot more exciting than I had given it credit and I don’t know if I can wait till next year to watch Season 3, lol.

I have my list of favorite characters and Sophia Burset – a Transgender Inmate is quite possibly my favorite out of all of them so far, which a few others coming in quite closely.  I have intended to create inspired looks from some of my favorite characters in the show, but for this particular look, I am working together with a few of my favorite bloggers to create looks of some of the women in the show.  Be sure to check out their links listed below and see their interpretation of the characters’ looks too.

OITNB Sophia Burset

I absolutely love Sophia’s makeup in the episodes as she is either rocking out a brown gradient looking lip or burgundy lip in her appearances.  Her eyes are always simply done up with a soft smoky eye and her hair is always flawless.  Since she runs a salon in the prison, she is always a trendsetter even if she is stuck with the same khaki scrubs that all the inmates use.  I also love Sophia’s story behind the character.  Quick Tidbit… Did you know that Laverne Cox’s Twin Brother actually plays the “pre-transition” character Marcus in Orange Is The New Black?

I tried to make this look as simple as possible to recreate – so check out my makeup tutorial below.
