I’m always super intrigued by Skincare products that are geared towards sensitive skin or those with eczema after being diagnosed with eczema last year. I have heard of CV Skin Labs before, but I don’t recall trying out their products – so I was very interested to find out how the products itself would work for my very finicky, very sensitive skin.
I was sent the following products to test out as a part of the Brandbacker campaign (see photo above – left to right): Body Repair Lotion, Restorative Skin Balm and Calming Moisture. After opening up the goodies, I tried out each product for the last 6 days. I must admit, I was amazed at how my skin did not freak out while using the products – I’ll go into detail below.
The first product I couldn’t wait to try was the CV Skinlabs Restorative Skin Balm ($26 US for Full Size – 0.5oz) I received a sample size of the product (0.25 fl.oz) and there was enough product in the tube to get use out of it each day while testing as well as a full more uses. As you can see in the photo above, it is a yellowish tint gel textured cream. It smells almost like a lemon scent and when applied it definitely feels like there is lanolin in the product. I was a bit freaked to try it but excited at the same time. I have the most problematic areas for my eczema around my mouth and cheek area so I have been using the product there. When my eczema is about to flair up, my skin gets dry and it starts to itch. I put this product on and immediately felt a difference. The itching had stopped and my face had a soothing feel. There is one thing I do not really like and that is the texture of the balm itself. It lends for an almost petroleum based feel with a little bit of sticky. I don’t like it, but I bare with it because this product really has been useful the last few days. During the Winter months my skin has major problems with being dry, even if I use my “white gold in a jar” – Coconut Oil and my expensive creams and serums, I can still tend to get dry skin. This balm has helped to keep my dry skin at bay.
The next product I tried was the Calming Moisture ($49 US – 2oz for Full Size). I received a sample / deluxe sample of the product that is approximately 1/2 the size of the full size tube. There wasn’t really any smell to it – or maybe a light fragrance similar to that of a facial moisturizer. It felt good on the skin, blended in well and did moisturize my skin nicely. When rubbing into my skin / face, it felt like normal moisturizer or lotion. There was no sticky feeling to it and it soaked into my skin nicely. I didn’t have any reaction to it and for the most part I thought it worked fairly well for a face moisturizer. I also like that this product can be used on more than just the face, but also the neck and scalp.
The last product I tried was the Body Repair Lotion ($36 US for 6oz full size). I received a cardboard sample tube of the product – 0.23 fl.oz. I apologize for not providing a swatch as I actually opened the package and squeezed out it’s little card board tube without thinking about taking a photo – I used up the product in one use. This body lotion seems to be very moisturizing and felt really nice on the skin. The moisture lasted for quite a while and I liked that I didn’t feel the need to reapply (though that was not possible since I didn’t have anything left of the sample).
CV Skin Labs products are awesome for people with sensitive skin like I have because they are 100% free of synthetic fragrances & dyes, parabens, formaldehyde, 1,4-dioxane, phthalates, mineral oil/petrolatum, silicones, propylene glycol, SLS/SLES, PEG/PPG, Triclosan and MEA-DEA-TEA ingredients. Many of the ingredients mentioned like mineral oil and petrolatum can be found in many skincare products on the market today and some of those I just cannot use because it causes my eczema to flare up dramatically. After using these products the last week – I did not experience any side effects, dryness of the skin or areas applied or reactions to the product, which is a big deal for me.
CV skinlabs products are natural, organic and soothing to help with repairing sensitive skin while restoring a youthful radiance. The product line has been featured in Us Weekly, Organic Spa Magazine, People En Espanol, back stage at NYC Fashion Week & more.
I really did enjoy using CV skinlabs products and hope to continue using their products to see the long term effects and how it can help me with my skin condition. A product line that is Made in USA, Not Tested on Animals and Hypoallergenic is definitely worth looking into. The price point is reasonable considering some of the skincare lines out on the market today and I love that it is natural and organic.
