Hi Friends. I’m excited to share a new video with all of you. Check out a few new things I found at the drugstore and some PR Goodies I received recently. All information, as well as purchase links, can be found in the description of the video. Have a wonderful day.
It seems like it’s been quite a while since I’ve shown my face in a makeup look or tutorial or anything along those lines. As much as I love makeup, I love a bare face so much more and besides a little tinted lip color or lip balm and some mascara, I haven’t been really using much makeup lately. With the boys out on Summer break and I feeling like a needed a little refresh, I figured I would pull out some makeup products I haven’t touched in a while and a few that I have been loving and bronze the heck out of my face while adding some glow and a little pop of color. My GRWM video which you can click and watch here (also embedded below) is quite long since I’m chatting and talking it up like girlfriends do, so if you want the shorter version, just keep reading. If you want to come hang out with me and talk story for 30 minutes or so, hey, grab something to drink – cup of joe or a glass of somethin’ and click play.
Like most of my makeup looks, I didn’t really give it any thought and just pulled at different cosmetics to create something I knew was functional and that I could use during the day. It seems like a really long time since I utilized my Milani Bella Eyes Gel Shadows, so I figured I would grab those and make use of them. Frankly, I just really wanted to use Bella Khaki – it’s such a gorgeous color and I just don’t use it as much as I should. If you are looking for a soft pop of color, a shade like Bella Khaki is gorgeous for that kind of look – it’s a gorgeous green with a light gold shift so it works really well with a bronze or neutral eye look.
Here are the products I used:
Milani Stay Put Brow Color in Medium Brown – brow gel
Milani Eye Shadow Primer
Milani Bella Eyes Gel Eye Shadow in Bella Mandarin (transition shade)
Milani Bella Eyes Gel Eye Shadow in Bella Taupe (crease and outer v shade)
Milani Bella Eyes Gel Eye Shadow in Bella Bronze (Outer V and outer 3rd of eye lid)
Milani Bella Eyes Gel Eye Shadow in Bella Khaki (lower lash line – pop of color)
Milani Bella Eyes Gel Eye Shadow in Bella Cafe (lower lash line below Bella Khaki to blend and soften lower lash line color)
ColourPop Super Shock Shadow in Lala (applied and blended onto the eye lid)
Milani Bella Eyes Gel Eye Shadow in Bella Chiffon (inner corner of the eyes – highlight)
Milani Bella Eyes Gel Eye Shadow in Bella Ivory (brow bone highlight)
Milani Kohl Kajal liner (waterline/tightline and a thin line on the upper lash line)
Ardell Demi Wispies False Lashes
Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer in Light (to bronze up the face all over)
Milani Baked Matte Bronzer in Sienna (to lightly contour)
Makeup Revolution Shimmer Brick Radiant
Milani Baked Blush in Rose D’Oro
Milani Illuminated Face Powder in Amber Nectar (blended all over the face to give a soft glow and soften my makeup)
Jordana Easyliner Lip Liner in Rock’n Rose
Jordana Modern Matte Lipstick in Matte Whisper
Jordana Modern Matte Lipstick in Matte Innocent
This eye look may require some additional layering, but it’s very easy to create and I love that you really can’t screw it up – it’s all about layering and blending. You can certainly use this look without lashes and it would still be very wearable for every day – but since my lashes are pretty much non-existent, well – it was a given that I pop some wispies on and call it a day.
** The photos were taken with my phone, so I hope they offer a good visual for anyone reading. Video also filmed with my phone.
That’s pretty much it. The look is simple and easy to create and like I mentioned earlier, I do have a video that walks you through the steps if you’re interested in learning how I did it. It’s a long one as I chat about my life at the moment and explain each step – so if you’re interested in hanging out with me, grab your favorite drink and watch the video embedded above or click here to watch directly on YouTube.
What about you… do you rock out a bronze look as summer season hits? Comment below and let me know.

It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of Milani so I tend to stock the site and my local stores for new products consistently. About a month or so ago I came across a display for some products that I had been eyeing from the website that were recently released – so I decided I would pick them up to try them out. Ultimately – like with any type of product, what may work (or not work) for me, may or may not for others, so I figured I would share my experience on them. Today I bring to you my thoughts on the Milani Moisture Lock Lip Treatment, Milani Lash Trifecta Mascara and the Milani Length in Seconds Lash Extension Fibers. If you are not in the reading mood – you can check out my video where I explain my thoughts, here.
Let’s start with the Milani Moisture Lock Lip Treatment in 01 Moisturizing Almond Coco which retails on Milani’s website for $8.49. I got mine at Walgreens for $6.99 or $7.99 (sorry – I lost the receipt and couldn’t remember the cost). I was immediately attracted to these because I cleanse and moisturize with oil nightly so I thought this would be a great option for daily use as well as on the go (since carrying a tub of coconut oil with me in my purse was not an option). The lip treatment comes in 8 different types of oil treatment and has a Net. Wt. of 0.10 oz / 2.85 g which is a good amount of product and perfect for the on-the-go option.
This lip treatment includes a scent (specifically a sweet coconut for the one I selected) and is formulated with Jojoba, Avocado and Tsubaki Oil. Each shade is infused with a different nutrient-dense oil to treat a specific concern – the almond/coconut being that it helps with moisture. The applicator is really cool and unique. It’s soft and much larger than your standard doe foot applicator, but applies evenly and nicely to the lips.
What I love is that while there is some tact to the actual formula of the product, it is not sticky at all and really glides onto the lips, leaving them moisturized for house thereafter. There is a shine to your lips which make this perfect for days when you want a natural look as this particular one doesn’t have any color. Did I mention is smells wonderful? I absolutely love the fragrance from this product – not overpowering at all but leaves a hint of scent while applying. My lips feel soft, moisturized and overall hydrated for the rest of the day and I love that the packaging of this product makes it so easy to use and take with you. I’ll be buying more of these in different shades/types really soon.
The Lash Trifecta Mascara retails for $7.99 and helps to lengthen, curl and separate per the claims from Milani. This mascara separates each lash using a curved 3-sided sculpting brush that adapts to your lash line. It has special conditioning ingredients in the mascara formula that make the lashes feel soft – never brittle. With the use of this product, your lashes will appear longer and fuller and offer clump-free wear. The lash brush works well in coating each and every lash – including my really small ones that most mascara wands tend to miss. The formula seems to coat each lash well too. I like that the wand is on the thinner side allowing me to really get to the base of my lashes for good volume at the root.
Overall – I think this is an okay mascara. I have never really had any luck with Milani mascaras in the past, but liked how similar this mascara wand was to that of one of my favorite high end products. The formula in my opinion is mousse like and applies nicely – though like most mascaras, the first several uses are a little too wet to my liking for my teeny tiny lashes. The brush is interesting in that some of the parts of the brush are a little sharp or pokey like and rushing when applying this mascara is not ideal… taking your time will allow for you to use the brush properly without poking your eye. Once the formula dried a little, I noticed it applied nicely and did pretty okay. Since I have short lashes, I wouldn’t say it gave me a lot of length or volume, but I do love that my lashes are really soft (no matter how many coats I use) and I definitely didn’t have issues with clumps. Also – it really doesn’t smudge or move through the day unless my eyes are watery… then I’m a raccoon. lol The formula is a plain mousse black which makes it ideal for every day use – there’s no shine to it. I’m still on the fence as to whether I would repurchase this mascara again. I think that it is pretty okay – but doesn’t quite wow me like some other mascaras from the drugstore. I like it – but don’t love it.
The Length in Seconds Lash Extension Fibers is something you don’t see very often at the drugstore. Retailing for $7.99 this product is Vegan and is tiny little white fibers that help give you that false lashes look. I have pretty tiny lashes, so products like these seem to be ideal for someone like me, but often times, I think they just don’t work as well as I would like. To apply, simply apply one coat of your favorite mascara to your lashes and then brush the Length in Seconds Lash Extension Fibers onto your wet lash tips. Finish off the look with a second coat of mascara to seal in the fibers. I found that I really had to be selective with the lash fibers in the type of brush and formula I used to get optimum results. The fibers really are abundant, so sometimes if the mascara is not wet enough – they do not stick and can fall on my cheeks or into my eyes.
Applying this product can take some time and a little finesse which is something I’m not particular fond of. If it gets into my eyes – it causes my eyes to tear and even if I’m able to get it out, by that time my eyes are ruined and I really can’t salvage the makeup look. I make sure that when I am applying this product that my eyes are not sensitive that day and I take my time when putting it on. I like the concept of it and with the right mascara it really can give me a nice full look. I find however that most fiber extension products like this one, because my lashes are so small, that it doesn’t give me huge benefits like a plain mascara can because there really isn’t enough lashes to grab onto. While it tends to stay in place most of the day and doesn’t really flake off, I find that it can really irritate my eyes if my peepers are watery that day and can cause a mess.
Overall – I’m not sure if this product is right for me. I’ll continue to use it because it’s affordable and I like to make use of the product – but I’m not sure that I’ll repurchase it. Who knows, after a few weeks or months of continued use of this product, I may find a way to make it work and may end up changing my mind.
The photo above shows what my lashes are like before “without any makeup, mascara, etc.) and then what it looks like with the mascara (2 coats) and with the mascara and the lash fibers (two coats mascara, one coat lash fibers). The mascara only and then mascara with fibers were done on two different days so that I was not layering on additional product. As you can see, the mascara holds well on its own without the lash fibers and once I apply the lash fibers they really make my lashes stand out much more. I don’t necessarily think I need them but it works for what it does. I do think that the lash fibers work better with some of my thicker mascara wands however and a wetter mascara formula.
Overall – as I mentioned above, I know I’ll be adding more of the Moisture Lock lip treatments from Milani to my collection in the future. I’m really enjoying the one I have and I’m about to run out soon. I still have some use left for the Lash Trifecta Mascara and the Length in Seconds Lash Extension Fibers so after using it a little longer, I may change my mind and decide I do like them. Sometimes even after a while of using a product, with a little trial and error and rediscovery – you may change your mind and decide something that wasn’t great at one time, became a hidden gem.
So what about you, have you tried any of these products before? If so – what are your thoughts on these products? If not, are there any you are interested in getting? You can pick up these products and so much more at Milanicosmetics.com or your local drugstores that carry the brand. I’m super excited to find Milani at my local Walmart now – woohoo!

The matte lip is all the rave and trend right now and that includes the liquid to matte lipsticks that we are seeing from different brands. While each of them have similar formulations, I can’t help but enjoy the ones I try since it allows me to go without touching up all day. A few months ago, Milani (my favorite drugstore brand) came out with the Amore Matte Lip Cremes. I got my hands on four of them so I figured I would share them with you should you be wondering how they worked for me.
The Milani Amore Matte Lip Creams come in eight different shades at the moment – though I am sure Milani may be adding to this list of liquid lipsticks eventually. You get a pretty nice variety of shades from very light and wearable nudes to deep dark vampy reds that are showstopping and perfect for the Fall season. Each liquid lipstick retails for $8.99 on Milanicosmetics.com but I’m sure they can be found a bit cheaper at your local Walgreens where available. I ordered one of the shades online and haven’t been able to locate a display at any of my local stores to date.
The Amore Matte Lip Cremes have that liquid-to-matte formula that has been coveted by many lately. It dries to a soft, velvet like finish and really gives your lips that fuller look. If you are familiar with the Brilliant Shine Lip Glosses from Milani, these liquid lipsticks have the same double-sided, flexible plush applicator which I actually enjoy because it applies nicely to my pretty full lips. Each one has a sweet sugar/vanilla scent which makes application enjoyable – I love it.
Out of the four shades I have I am really loving the darker ones – Crush & Flirt. Crush applied so easily, though because it is so dark, with any type of oily food, it starts to really fade and can leave that ring on the inside of your mouth. Flirt is a gorgeous berry red that will be my go-to for this Fall Season. Adore and Lust are really nice too – but I truly fancy the darker shades at the moment. I’m sure during Spring and Summer I’ll pull for Adore & Lust more.
While most liquid lipsticks dry to a matte finish and can be drying on the lips – I was pretty impressed with the texture of my lips with these on. Most of the shades I own (I have four of them) apply pretty evenly, though I thought Lust was the one that I needed to work with to really get the best application. Was it enough to sway my opinion and dislike the product? No, because after a little fixing, I was able to get it to work for me without issue. These lipsticks take about a minute to two minutes to dry on me… but I think it depends on the weather. During the summer months I found that it remained tacky up to 5 minutes before it actually set. Now that Fall is here and the days are a little cooler, the colors set on my lips within a minute and are locked into place for several hours through the day. All of the shades I own have an opaque color on the lips when set and dry and I can get approximately 6-7 hours of wear time before I feel the need to reapply. If I am eating anything oily (like my favorite food, pizza) – of course, it will start to fade and in some cases, I’ll need to touch up. But – I can kiss my hubby without any transfer which also makes these “HUBBY APPROVED!”
Considering the price point and the fact that this is from a Drugstore brand, I think they are really nice and I enjoy them. My goal is to collect all eight so that I have a selection to choose from when dressing up my pout. I would love to see Milani create many different shades as they have with their Color Statement Lipsticks – purples, plum nudes and dusty rose pinks are all of my favorite types of shades, but an orange and mauves would be great hits as well. Overall – I am loving what I tried so far and I think they are a great addition to one of my favorite brands.
Have you tried these yet? Have you been able to spot them at your local stores? With the price point and the brand, I think these could definitely be a hit.
Disclaimer: The products mentioned in this post were both purchased by me and also sent to me for review consideration. All opinions are my own, 100% honest and unbiased. I was not paid to feature these products or provide my thoughts, however – affiliate links are posted through out.
Be still my heart! Milani has done it again and this time, these gorgeous shades are ready for your Fall 2015 looks. It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of the Milani Rose Powder blushes, so much so that I practically own every single one available. These gorgeously embossed beauties are favorites in my collection and these two new addictions are no different. If you haven’t seen them hit your stores yet, you will be seeing three gorgeous Limited Edition Rose Powder blush shades. I currently own two of the three shades available and I wanted to share these with you.
The two colors I have added to my collection are Awakening Rose (10) and Blossomtime Rose (11). Awakening Rose is a Dusty Rose pink that has light silver shimmer that adds a subtle highlight and glisten to the cheeks. The shimmer in this shade is iridescent and depending on the highlight I’m using that day – though it looks silver in the pan, it can create a soft golden hue on my cheekbones. Blossomtime Rose which is my favorite out of the two is a Peachy Pink blush with Golden Pearl shimmer. This particular blush is gorgeous and has been my favorite to add a little peachy blush golden hue to my skin.
The packaging is gorgeous… absolutely stunning and what has me swooning over them each time Milani rolls out a new set. I was so bummed when I dropped one of them when photographing these and my finger nail scrapped it up. The embossing lasts quite a while with lots of use… I have several blushes I use consistently and I’m barely putting a dent in the embossing.
Each blush retails for $7.99 and includes a Net. Wt. 0.60oz/17g. You get a lot of product for the money and I love how the blushes feel against my skin and how pigmented they are. The only downside to these is the Talc which is included in the ingredients, but I haven’t noticed any issues with my skin when using these and since I own at least 10 of them, that speaks volumes for how much I enjoy these. Using a large powder brush or a stippling brush will apply these colors nicely on the cheeks. They are a little powdery but a quick dusting of your brush prior to application and you are good to go.
Ingredients: Talc, Synthetic Wax, Aluminum Starch, Octenylsuccinate, Hydoxylated Lanolin, Isopropyl Lanoate, Petrolatum, Cyclomethicone,, Lanolin Alcohol, Cetyl Actate, Acetylated Lanolin Alcohol, Methylparabne, Proprylparaben. +/- May Contain: Synthetic Flourphlogopite, Mica, Tin Oxide, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), Yellow 5 (CI 19140), Red 7 (CI 15850), Red 28 (CI 45410), Red 36 (CI 12085), Blue 1 (CI 42090), Carmine (CI 75470), Ultamarines (CI 77007), Ferric Ferrocyanide (CI 77510), Manganese Violet (CI 77742).
These gorgeous beauties should be arriving at a Walgreens near you soon or they are also available at Milanicosmetics.com. Many of the Rose Powder blushes available in past collections were more matte, which I love – but I also enjoy the fact that these offer a light shimmer and iridescence so they add a little extra highlight against the skin. I think I found a few new faves now that I have gotten my hands on these… Warm Petals (no longer available) has been a favorite for over a year, and I think Blossomtime and Awakening Rose have now stolen the show.
Have you seen these beauties in your local stores yet? Have you tried any of the Rose Powder blushes from Milani? If so – what are your thoughts?
Disclaimer: While I have been sent Milani products in the past for Press / Review consideration – these were purchased by me with my own money. All opinions as always are my own and 100% honest and unbiased. I was not paid to provide my thoughts on these items though I do have affiliate links through out this post which I do and can make money from.
I know Summer has just begun for many but here in Hawaii, it’s been hot and these hurricanes and tropical storms keep sweeping in near us. Because of this, I’m truly looking forward to Fall and Winter and I find that I have been really craving that cool Hawaii Winter weather a lot lately. Inspired by Fall shades, I decided I was going to use a Berry Smoky Eye today and since I haven’t been using much makeup lately, I was really excited to play with color. Today – I share with you my FOTD.
Since I don’t use foundation or concealer (I know – I say it over and over again), I went ahead and used the YSL Touche Eclat Blur Primer (review here) applying this product all over my face to create a canvas for my other products to last all day. I then started with my brows. Today I pulled out my Paula Dorf 2+1 For Brows Kit (review here) and did these babies up a little darker and bolder than I normally wear them to accommodate for my eye makeup.
For my eyes I wanted to pull out some of my ColourPop shadows that I’ve been neglecting lately. I started with a base – I’m using my Milani Eye Shadow primer. Then I used ColourPop’s Selfie as my transition shade blending into my crease and fading up towards my brow. To create a sultry bold burgundy look, I added a blend of In A Pickle and Cheeky on the inner corner of my eye lid blending towards the middle of my lid. Then taking Drift and blending it from the middle of my lid to the outer corner. To smoke out the look, I took Hustle and added it to the outer corner of my eye then mixed Hustle and Drift together to apply on the lower lash line. To create the pop of color and highlight on the inner corner, I used ColourPop’s XO. To give my browbone a subtle highlight and to diffuse the harsh lines I took Laetus from the Kat Von D Shade & Light Eye Contour Palette and swept that under my bone and blending with ColourPop’s Selfie for a flawless transition.
For eye liner I am using the Milani Kohl Kajal liner in black to line my upper and lower rim and smudge along the lower lash line. For my winged liner I am using the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper.
For face products, I used Coastal Scents Forever Blush in Delicate and swept that over ColourPop’s Highlighter in Most Necessary to achieve a slightly bronze glow. For my highlight I am using Lunch Money as a base topped with Becca’s Champagne Pop Shimmering Skin Perfector (Jaclyn Hill collaboration). I applied highlight to the top of my cheekbones, along my cupids bow and above the arch of my brows.
For lips I am using Jordana’s EZ Liner in Rock N Rose topped with ColourPop’s Lumiere Lippy Stix. My mascara for today is a combination of Mary Kay Lash Love Lengthening Mascara and Benefit Roller Lash (top and bottom lashes) and then finished off with a set of Ardell Demi Whispies which are my go-to. To complete the look – I used YSL’s Touche Eclat Blur Perfector to set my makeup (more so my blush/highlighter) in place all day.
It’s been quite a while since I’ve shared a Face of the Day – but I’m looking forward to Fall and sharing more fun with all of you.
It’s not very often that we chit chat brows here on the blog, probably because mine are pretty low maintenance for the most part so I don’t really pay too much attention to them. However, today I join the Beauty Blogger Collaboration in sharing a little brow love. I’m pretty blessed in that my brows are pretty full and usually I will just set them into place if I need to but otherwise, unless they need a little drama, they are simple as pie. But, I figured I would share some of my favorite eye brow products with you and why I enjoy them so much.
Brows are really important as they frame the face and bring a look together. My natural brows are fairly full so most times I will use a spoolie to comb them into place and if I feel the need, a little brow gel to hold their shape for the day. Brow gels are probably the most essential in my arsenal, though I do have a few others that I enjoy. I have tried many brow products over the years, but since I have sensitive skin – there are some that just do not work well for me or dry my brows out terribly. I find that these products haven’t caused any of these issues so I continue to use them.
First let’s talk brow gels. This is my go-to and I will use it daily if I feel like my natural brows are unruly and out of control. These two brow gels are clear and work well. The NYX Control Freak has been a go-to for me over the last year (since it’s release) and I have a full review of this product which you can read up on here. The Milani Brow Shaping Clear Gel is a favorite because of it’s small brush. Both products offer nice control and hold without a crispy feeling. They look natural and are easy to apply. Out of all the brow products I own, I will pull for these the most for every day use and to set my brows in place when I have shaded them in.
The next products on my list are brow tints or colored brow products. These are easy just like the brow gels mentioned previously but they have a tint to them that will allow for shading in my brows. These are especially perfect for those days during the summer when I tend to go lighter in my brows to match my hair that gets lightened quickly and easily from the sun. These products will fill in any gaps and give my brows a lighter tone.
I have been using the Per-fekt Brow Perfection Gel now for years and have repurchased this product many times. In the shade caramel, this mascara like wand is perfect for shading in my brows and giving my brows a brighter and lighter appearance. It lasts all day and keeps my brows in place for hours without budging.
Benefit’s Gimme Brow was added to my brow game last year and I’m not gonna lie… for the amount of product you get in a small little tube, it is pretty costly. But, honestly – I have repurchased twice so I must like it. The tiny little brush is perfect for filling in your brows and adding more volume. The cream-like gel has tiny little fibers that fill in the brows to provide a natural brow look that is full and set in place. I don’t use this product as much as the other tints because the shade is just a tad bit too ashy for me, but it works well during the winter months which is when I tend to pull for it most.
LASHEMS Colour Strokes Brow Tint and Lift in Brunette is one of my favorites and has a caramel toned shade that fills in my brows easily and sets those babies in place that they will not budge for hours. I love to use this product especially in the summer to lighten my brows a tad but also keep them in place while I’m playing in the sun. You can read my full review and see before and after photos on the LASHEM Colour Strokes Brow Tint here.
Cailyn’s Gelux Eyebrow in Cocoa is a thick tinted wax that works perfectly to keep my brows in place but also for filling my brows in. It has a thick consistency but it is also quite firm, not as creamy as you would expect. Due to it’s firm wax texture, it makes shading in your brows really easy and provides a really nice texture so that it looks natural when applied. Shaping my brows is easy with the built in brush and this product is great for travel. This is not my “all the time” brow product – but when I really want a sculpted look, this works well and is a favorite. This is much thicker than Anastasia Dip Brow but this is what I opted to use after Dip Brow caused my brows to dry out and flake. It’s been a great alternative for me without the sensitivity issues and I love that Cailyn’s Gelux Eyebrow comes in 8 different shades, making it easy for me to lighten my brows up should I find the need. I also love that this is waterproof… so I find it my go-to for days I want my brows in place but I know I’ll be sweaty or near the ocean or water play and it will last many hours on the brows.
New on my favorites list are a few products from Paula Dorf and Jordana. Paula Dorf’s 2+1 for Brows in Brunette is a great product to use when you want to shape and shade in your brows and then set with a built in wax. Definitely a good product for travel. I do love to use it when going out and I want a fuller brow shape. If you are looking for longevity however, this product may not be good for a long day and is not waterproof. But it is great for filling in the brows and the two shades available in the pot are perfect for days I want to go darker or lighter. You can find three different shade selections for this brow set so you should easily be able to find the brow shade that matches best for you.
The next product is the Jordana FabuBrow Eyebrow Pencil. This is just a simple drugstore pencil with a little brush at the end. This pencil comes in 6 shades and I find that I can switch between a few of them depending on my “brow color mood”. It’s easy to apply – just use as you would a regular brow pencil. The color is long lasting but not waterproof and you can choose to set with a brow gel if you like. I find I use this often because it is easy, affordable and it works.
Last on my brow game list are some overall products from one brand I enjoy. Billion Dollar Brows is a line I was introduced to early last year and I find that I really enjoy their products. The Billion Dollar Brows Best Sellers Kit is probably the best value for this line and includes everything you need to create some awesome brows. Check out my post on this kit here. I love that when applying these brow products they make my eyebrows look full but natural. I don’t use it often, but I do love to use it when I have a full face of makeup (eye shadow, etc.) because it really frames my face nicely.
So that is my round up of favorite brow products. I’m sure there are so much more out there. At one time, the Wet n Wild Eye Brow Kit was my absolute favorite and if it was still easy for me to get my hands on – I would probably still be using it. Like anything else beauty, what works for some – may not work for others. It’s funny because a cult favorite in the beauty community actually did not work for me while others are considered my holy grail products. That’s the great thing about beauty – everyone and everything is all about individual preference. 🙂 For example… I like a little color in my brows from time to time… so it’s okay to have fun with makeup!
Make sure to head on over to the lovely ladies of the Beauty Blogger Collaboration (links below) and see what they had to say about brows. I hope you enjoyed this post and maybe learned about some products you haven’t heard of before. What are your favorite eye brow products? Do you have any on my list that you love or have tried?

Milani has released a plethora of beauty treats this year and I’m making my way through all of them to share with all of you. Today I bring to you my thoughts on the Milani Fierce Foil Eye liners. These eye liners were an addition to their Winter/Spring 2015 line and I will be honest, I was not excited about these after not being a huge fan of the Limited Edition Constellation Gel Liners. I figured they would be the same type of liner, but I’m glad that the formulation is much different than those. Here are my thoughts and swatches of this new product from Milani.
The Milani Fierce Foil Eye liners retail for $6.99 on Milanicosmetics.com and come in four universal shades. Each brush comes with a Net Weight of 0.07 oz/ 2 grams of product and an eye liner brush. The pot size of these liners are much smaller than the Constellation liners and these have 2 grams less product than the limited edition collection released a few months back. As similar as these may seem to that release, the Fierce Foil Eye liners are different in all ways including longevity. Each eye liner offers you a wearable shade that can compliment a variety of eye looks, skin tones and eye colors. While these are creamy gel liners, they offer more of a body to each one, making it easy to work with in my opinion and long lasting on the eye lids. Each shade offers rich, intense color with a metallic foil type finish. What I love a lot about these is that unlike the Constellation liners, the glitter / metallic finish is not a spray on and you can visibly see that it carries through out the entire pot.
Wear time for these eye liners surprised me. While they did eventual fade some, if applied to my upper lash line, they each gave me a minimum of five hours of wear time and didn’t move or budge which I did like. I made sure to either set them with a shadow or leave as is and allow to set and dry on its own. These have a dryer formula than what you would expect from an eye liner in a pot, so working with the product itself can take a little getting used to if you are someone used to liquid or gel. For some it may be a bit tugging on the eye, but if you load your brush correctly with the appropriate amount of product, I think the liners apply easily and quickly without tugging or pulling.
While these don’t have as much slip as your average gel liner, it allows you to still use as a base for eye shadows to create a cool metallic effect. What’s cool and unique about these liners is they are each formulated with a black base, which offers a different look than your average colored liner. These can be used as a cream base but it’s still a little on the dry side so blending may take a little time. But, once you have the desired look, the smoldering and smoky effect you will get is really nice. One note… in my experience these liners apply nicely but if you have watery eyes like I do – they can smudge. Since I tend to enjoy a winged liner often, I find that my wing may lose some of its integrity if my eyes are tearing and there may be some spots where it smears off.
Overall, I like these liners. I am someone who rather a waterproof liner and mascara over one that just claims it is long wearing but I like a liner that provides you the chance to use as a base for a smoky look or a gorgeous cat eye and I think this one does offer that. It’s affordable and you get a good amount of product for the price. I know I’ll get some use out of these liners and I love the shade range as the colors really help to bring out my brown eyes. I’ll post looks using these soon – but wanted to make sure to get this up so you would have the chance to find them. They are available at stores like Walgreens and CVS and of course online at milanicosmetics.com.
Have you tried any of these liners from Milani? If not, which one do you have your eyes on?
Disclaimer: I received the following products for consideration of review as press samples. While I did get these items for free all thoughts, opinions and discussions in this post are 100% honest, unbiased and not influenced in any way.
It’s absolutely no secret that Milani lipsticks are quite possibly some of my favorites at the drugstore and I recommend them consistently. I was quite impressed when Milani rolled out the new Moisture Matte Color Statement lipsticks to their line and couldn’t wait to get my hands on them. These gorgeous lippies are packed with stunning color, a matte texture and finish and all kinds of gorgeous. Here are my thoughts and what I think about each.
The Milani Moisture Matte Color Statement lipsticks come in a total of 8 new shades and retail for $5.99 on Milanicosmetics.com. These lipsticks are starting to pop up at local CVS, Walgreens and Fred Meijer stores as well as select Kmart locations. So why the hype? Milani went bold and daring with some of the shades this year but also offer a matte texture (in my opinion they are more of a satin-matte type) in shades you can’t often get at the drugstore. These bold pops of color offer a wide range of shades to compliment your style, skin tone and are going to be a hit this Spring and Summer. Besides the eight shades, Milani also rolled out 2 additional pink toned shades to add to the fun.
Each lipstick is matte in texture, but I’m pretty impressed at how they feel on the lips. They are much more comfortable on the lips than I would expect from any matte lipstick however, since they are not as drying as most mattes, they also do not have the staying or staining power of a regular matte lipstick. Don’t get it twisted, these still have nice staying power, but a little more slip than a matte lipstick that I’m used to.
Catwalk and Power pink are new additions to the original Color Statement collection. Both of those shades are matte / satin like textures and apply smoothly and nicely to the lips. Both are bright shades and gorgeous for the Spring and Summer months.
Ingredients: Isononyl Isononanoate, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Polyethylene, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Cera Microcristallina (Microcrystalline Wax), Synthetic Wax, Mica, Stearalkonium Hectorite, C30-45 Alkyl Dimethicone, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Cetyl Dimethicone, Propylene Carbonate, Dimethicone, Ethyl Vanillin, Pentaerythrityl Tetra-di-t-butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate, Laureth-4, Dicalcium Phosphate. +/- May Contain: Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), Red 6 (CI 15850), Red 7 (CI 15850), Red 28 (CI 45410), Red 34 (CI 15880), Yellow 5 (CI 19140), Blue 1 (CI 42090), Manganese Violet (CI 77742).
Now, if you have dry lips naturally – you surely want to make sure you exfoliate your lips prior to application. While these have an almost satin like feel on the lips, they can still accentuate the dryness and cracks in your lips. Honestly – after using a variety of matte lipsticks from high-end and drugstore brands, this can definitely happen, so preparation prior to application is the key.
If you are a matte lipstick lover, I definitely would recommend these. I think the shade range is nice and if you are a pink lover, you’ll find some pretty awesome pinks in this bunch. While they are reasonably comfortable on the lips, they can still be drying and I definitely suggest exfoliating your lips or applying lip balm prior to application. Since these do not stain as much as a normal matte lipstick, I also suggest a good lip liner (Milani has quite a few shades) applied before putting these lipsticks on to keep them in place and to help eliminate some of the slip they have and for longevity. Overall at the price point, they are still pretty nice and I have been enjoying them.
Have you tried these new lippies from Milani? If you have, what are your thoughts on these? Be sure to check out the Video embedded above or click here to watch directly on YouTube for live swatches on try-on of each lipstick shade. Go to Milanicosmetics.com to see the selection of shades or your local drugstore that carries Milani products.
It is no secret that I am a huge fan of Milani Cosmetics and those that have been following me a while know that I use at least one product in each of the looks I create. A few years ago, I purchased my first Milani eye shadow palette – A Runway Eyes kit and I enjoyed the pigmentation as well the price point and because of this I was completely hooked. Fast forward five years and I am still craving that gold packaging… I consider Milani the high-end brand of drugstore cosmetics.
Recently Milani Cosmetics released a Limited Edition collection of goodies as a part of their Bedazzled Collection. The Constellation Gel Eye Liners available in three shades: 01-Enchanted Lapis, 02-Enchanted Black Opal and 03-Enchanted Emerald retail for $5.99 on Milanicosmetics.com and can also be found at select Walgreens locations for a limited time.
Each Constellation Gel Eye Liner comes with 0.14oz/4g of product and an eyeliner brush. The liners are encased in the signature Milani gold packaging but the pot itself is quite lightweight in comparison to other Milani products. I’m quite impressed with the packaging for these liners as it has a twist off/on cap that allows you to keep the liner protected and sealed shut when not in use. The brush that comes with the product is well made in my opinion and I have been enjoying using it not only with these liners but also with others in my collection. It’s dense enough to pick up product but still soft enough against the skin, no tugging. While this brush is small, it picks up enough product needed and allows you ease of control & is easy to hold considering it’s size.
At first glance, these gel liners are absolutely gorgeous in the pot… so much so that I didn’t want to open them, swatch them or use them. I knew right away that the top layer of the liners had an over spray and I knew once I dipped into the pot, I would be sacrificing the gorgeous “Galaxy” look they had. I was quite eager to try these in hopes that they would be as “galactic” (see what I did there? lol) as I thought they looked in the pot.
Each liner is very creamy – much more creamy than I am used to and because of this… I think it offered a heavy amount of slip through the application process. While applying, I had to take my time and apply in layers to not only build up the metallic look of each shade but also to get it to the consistency I want. It didn’t take much to build it up. As you used each product, while it still held the “metallic” look with some shimmer, the product lost the “over spray” I had mentioned I thought it had.
01 – Enchanted Lapis is a gorgeous blue shade with a metallic sheen. When applied it shows up a much deeper shade than what you see initially. I would consider the end result a kind of metallic navy blue.
In the pot, before use… Enchanted Lapis looks like it has blue, purple, silver and turquoise shades – but overall, when applied, it applies the metallic navy blue shade you see on my eyelid.
02 – Enchanted Black Opal reminds me of a deep chrome/charcoal black shade when applied. This color has light flecks of shimmer that can be seen in the application.
In the pot, before use… Enchanted Black Opal has black, silver, pink and gold over spray in the pot before touching the product. It’s gorgeous – but even in my swatch or use on my eyelid, only black/silver and some flecks of silver glitter were visible.
03 – Enchanted Emerald applies and looks like a teal / emerald green when used or swatched. There is are some small flecks of shimmer, but for the most part this looks metallic on the lid.
In the pot, before use… Enchanted Emerald has a gorgeous array of shades in the overspray. Dark emerald green, turquoise blue, bright green and purple are all laid upon the top of this liner.
As you can see from the swatches, any of the pretty effects you see on the liner before use are no longer visible for the most part once you apply the liner. While I don’t necessarily consider that a con, it would be awesome if these liners offered that option. Each of them do lend for a gorgeous metallic hue which I think is still quite stunning.
Now that I’ve given you the low down of these Milani Constellation Gel liners… let’s talk about my thoughts overall. I think these are absolutely gorgeous in the pot and it’s disappointing that they lose that gorgeous overspray once you use the product. However, I don’t think that is the most disappointing. As much as I tried to love these, I struggled with the use of them. After trying different techniques, I think the formulation could use a little adjusting.
First off all – these claim to be Smudge Proof and will “last from dusk to dawn”. I have tried on many occasions to get these liners to stay in place for me… but they either run, smudged or became a mess and using them longer than an hour left me with panda eyes. I have tried to set them with a powder shadow, but that did not quite work for me. After using these for about a month, I found that the best way to apply for the best longevity would be to apply in light layers and build the color up. However, even with that – it still smudged on my oily eyelids and I am not able to use it as a daily liner or out at night on a hot day or it will get everywhere. Using these liners as an all over shadow base may work for some, but I also found the liner to be too creamy for me and because of this the shadow I applied on top moved around quite a bit and then creased in a short amount of time. I think these would be awesome for someone who does a lot of theatrical work or someone looking for a statement liner and something that doesn’t offer longevity. I’m sure some of my cons may have some to do with the fact that I live in a humid/hot climate, but overall I had some difficulty getting the liners to stay in place, in tact and on my eyelids during each use. Wearing this in my waterline caused my eyes to be irritated and again – I looked like a Panda who hadn’t slept in a week. While these did not work for me, I’m still very impressed with how they look. I think the overall creaminess and texture of the product could attest to the slip that the product offers. At the price point, I think it’s definitely worth checking out to see if it will work for you as I know well that what may not work for me may work for someone else. But for me, I consider these a miss, though that doesn’t mean I won’t try to make use of them in future looks. Milani stole my heart years ago and while one product may not work for me, that doesn’t mean I still don’t love them so. Have you tried these liners? If not, is this something you have been interested in? I would love to know your thoughts on this.

Once again, the Beauty Council brings to you another fun post. This time around we are talking about some of our favorite beauty buys for Fall. Fall is my favorite time of the year so I’m always looking forward to preparing my favorite beauty goods when this time approaches. Some of my favorite colors to use whether it be for eye shadow or lips is burgundy and berry shades, wines and purples and of course… gorgeous oranges, golds and plums. Narrowing down this list was near to impossible because if I had my way, my list would be endless, but I tried to grab the items that I know I’ll pull for the most this Fall and those I know that I will probably rock out consistently. As I mentioned previously, this post is brought to you in collaboration with my girlies from the Beauty Council, so be sure to check out their links below and see what made the cut for them.
DermOrganic Leave-In Spray Therapy ($20.00 / 3.4 fl oz) Summer months tend to do some damage on my hair so when it comes to fall, I’m constantly repairing my hair. Fall is also the time of year when I tend to darken my hair or go red or purple so because of this a good leave-in condition or hair therapy is mandatory and I suggest it to anyone like myself who has very curly hair.
Malin+Goetz Dark Rum EDT ($150.00 / 3.4 fl oz) Fall months call for richer and deeper notes when it comes to fragrance and one of my all time favorites is the rich scent of Dark Rum from Malin+Goetz. This scent is definitely a splurge when bought in full size but the scent is entrancing. What I love about this is that it is complimentary for both men and women and can be paired with some of your favorite perfumes for a unique scent. Fragrance is a favorite and must have of mine and if I really had to choose a scent, it would be this one.
Milani Color Statement Nail Lacquer in Enchanted Garnet ($4.00) I tend to use nudes and deep dark colors during the Fall months and a new release that I have been loving lately is this Enchanted Garnet from Milani. If you love reds or dark deep shades, you will love this shade and should add it to your Fall “to buy” list. It’s not only an affordable selection and from the drug store, it offers great pigment, rich color and is gorgeous.
Olay Total Effects 7 in One CC Cream ($20.00 / 1.7 fl oz) & Be Delectable Coconut and Cream Hand Cream ($10.00 / 4 fl oz) My skin is very sensitive and I get eczema flare ups from time to time so I’m always in need of great moisture. Olay’s CC Cream which is newly released is awesome to provide SPF and a great airbrushed finish to my face. I love that it is light weight and feels wonderful on the skin but is also a perfect addition for those “fresh faced” looks. Be Delectable’s Coconut and Cream Hand Cream is also a favorite for on the go and all the time to keep my skin moisturized and soft. It smells absolutely wonderful and delicious and keeps my skin hydrated and moisturized all day long through the colder months.
YSL Rouge Volupte Lipstick in Forbidden Burgundy ($35.00), Milani’s Color Statement Lipstick in Black Cherry ($5.49) and L.A. Girl Glazed Lip Paint in Daring ($4.99) Like I mentioned previously, I love love burgundy, wine, mauve and purple tones and especially on the lips. I think it is always great to have a selection that includes affordable and high end brands to create luscious and gorgeous lips on the fly. I absolutely love this selection and it was definitely difficult to narrow it down considering I had quite a selection to choose from.
I love daring eye shadow looks and smoky eyes year round, but I always make sure to have staples in my collection during the Fall months. Again, burgundy’s and wine’s, plums and purples and bronze and gold shades are favorites to create stunning eye looks. Two eye shadow palettes I know I’ll be pulling for this Fall season is the Lorac Pro 2 Palette ($42.00) and the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette ($49.00). While I know that I will be incorporating different shades for show stopping eye looks, these offer a range I can easily use and create every smoky eye imaginable. What I love is that these palettes can be used year round, not just for fall.
Of course, I had to include a few wish list items… I had to include these two choices that I’m lusting over and looking forward to picking up soon.
The newly released Limited Edition Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Palette. Oh my gosh – it’s so beautiful and I need it. Considering I don’t own any of the single blushes, I just know I need to get my hands on this palette ASAP and before it sells out.
The Lorac Mega Pro Palette. Ladies and Gents, this is not an illusion and I can’t wait for October for this palette to come out and be available for sale. This is another added to my wish list and my “to buy” list before it sells out.
I hope this little list of goodies gave you some ideas of great buys for Fall shopping. I listed a few of my must haves and a few that I’ve been lusting over. Don’t forget to check out what the lovely ladies of The Beauty Council have on their lists as well and head on over to check it out. 🙂 Have a fabulous day!
I can’t believe how quickly summer flew by, it seems like just yesterday my eldest son was in the 4th grade and the twins were still home with me and now the house is super quiet during the day and it’s odd to say the least. With Fall coming about, I wanted to take the time to share with you a round up of my Summer Nail designs and manicures that I have been rocking out during the season. I’m doing this post and video in collaboration with my friend Beth (PearlznlacebyBethK) so be sure to head on over and check out her video and post as well.
My first manicure from this summer is from Sally Hansen in the color Gilty Party. This color is absolutely gorgeous and while it looks silver, it has micro shimmers that look almost burgundy pink so it really lends for an interesting shade.
July 8th, I decided I wanted to use a new polish I had just picked up and paired it with some glitter and sparkle. On my nails I’m using Sally Hansen’s Color Foil nail polish in Purple Aloy and my accent nail is topped with Rainbow Honey’s Stellar Treat. I am a huge fan of Rainbow Honey’s glitter polishes and these two lacquers together made a great statement.
July was all about simplicity in my nail designs and doing a water color styled look is simple and easy to create. Check out my tutorial here. I used a combination of Zoya and Milani’s new Color Statement Lacquers to create the look you see here. The base white is from Zoya in the color Adel (one of my favorite whites) and the rest of the shades are a combination of Milani and Zoya.
When I am unable to choose a color I want to use on my nails, I find that I paint them several different shades and just roll with it. In July I decided I wanted to test out a few shades from the new Milani Color Statement Lacquers that were recently rolled out. Since I couldn’t figure out which ones I wanted to wear more… it resulted in me doing a quick water marbling of my nails in different shades. Not the best look – but hey, it works. lol
Milani has seriously wowed me with their new collection and I’ve been loving the glitter polishes. For this look I’m using Milani’s Color Statement Lacquer in Bronze as my base shade and then accent nails are topped with Gilded Rocks and Club Lights.
My Galaxy Inspired nails were probably a favorite of all the nail looks I created this summer. I used a similar technique to my Water Color nails and you can find the tutorial for this nail look here. I am using all of Milani’s Color Statement Nail Lacquers to create this look. Lovely Amethyst as my base shade, Spotlight White, Bombshell, Mint Crush, Pearl-plexed Sheer and Rainbow Prisms.
This burgundy red nail look was done as a part of my Regina the Evil Queen look… I did my best to play up the part. lol (You can watch that tutorial for the inspired makeup look here.) I don’t normally rock out shades in this tone during the Summer months but needless to say you will be seeing this quite often in the fall months. I am using Milani’s Color Statement Lacquer in Enchanting.
I’m no professional when it comes to nail designs but I think I can pull off the basics pretty okay. For this nail look I wanted to do something fun and wanted to play off of some polka dots. As my base shade I am using Zoya’s Shay which is one of my all time favorite nudes. As my glitter accent nail I am using Zoya’s Cosmo Magic Pixie Polish topped with Ciate’s Speed Dry Top Coat so that it doesn’t have that 3D effect. For my polka dots and flowers I am using Milani’s Color Statement Lacquers in Spotlight White and Imperial purple. Super easy to create and fun to wear.
In this nail look I couldn’t make up my mind what I wanted to do. I am using Milani’s Vintage Lace Lacquer and Rainbow Prisms as the tip of my nails. For my accent nails I decided to do a quick water marble using Imperial Purple and Cupcake Icing all from Milani’s Color Statement Lacquer line.
In this manicure I wanted a nude look with a little sparkle. I am using Zoya’s Jules and topped it with Maybelline Color Show’s Diamond in the Rough.
So – those are my nail designs and manicures I rocked out for Summer this year. I am in no way a professional but really enjoy painting my nails to give me a little flirty flare. I don’t do my makeup with exception to maybe once each week, so I love to have my nails with some extra sparkle to keep it all exciting. Don’t forget to check out the video if you haven’t already. Wishing you all a wonderful last few days of your warm summer months. ~xo
