The last few weeks have had me talking about relationship advice on my Thirsty Thursday episode I do each week but I have been saving some motherhood topics for today. As many know who follow my blog or YouTube channel, I am a Stay at Home / Work from Home mom and honestly, I’m proud of it. I wish each mother could experience staying at home with their children and spending the time with them watching their child or children grow. But, being a stay at home mom comes with a certain personna, or stigma I shall say, that can sometimes hit a few nerves. Today we are going to do a “Confessions of a Stay at Home Mom” segment – something I used to do a lot on my channel and blog in the past and we are going to touch base on the following subjects. These questions were emailed to me for advice and topic consideration…
” Do you think Sta at Home Moms are lazy? What do you think about what is said about Stay at Home Moms, calling them lazy or that they have an easy life and don’t do anything.”
” Do you feel you push your kids too hard to be successful? Do you think some parents can push their kids too hard to be great?”
Be sure to watch the video embedded above or click here to watch the episode directly on YouTube. Remember that this is just a chill and relaxed conversation and I’m simply stating my opinion as a person and not bashing on anyone else’s opinion on the subject.
Thanks so much for joining me on this episode of Thirsty Thursday. Don’t forget – if you are interested in submitting questions or topics for future episodes, you can email them to firstname.lastname@example.org. As a reminder, I am not a professional at all and do not get paid for my advice. All opinions are my own – my honest thoughts on the subject and I am in no way judging anyone for the choices they make or their own opinions, these are just mine.
Have you ever had those days when you wake up and feel like an epiphany has completely taken over your body? The feeling overwhelms you and leaves you stunned and in awe. I swear, it seems like over the last month I have been going through this very thing several times a week. It delights me that I can go to bed in the evening and wake up the next morning with my head filled with thoughts that I simply can’t wait to get onto paper. This has been my routine lately and my mind is telling me to pay attention to the signs as they are what my heart is telling me my soul wants. In 2015, everything I did and everything I strived for had to do with self discovery, finding out who I am and what I want out of life. It was about growth, not only for myself but my family and about strength because we had to really rely on one another to ensure success or simply to just get by. This year, I want to take everything I learned from 2015 and incorporate it into my personal “Planner” so to say, that will enable success and ultimately, help me to achieve my life goals. Let’s face it, living life is an accomplishment already and last year was a challenge all its own.
So, what’s in store and what’s new for Honey? Well, first of all I really feel like over the years I lost my identity and who I truly am and last year after really accomplishing so much more than I thought I ever could personally, I realized that the little changes I made to my routine and myself created a monster. Not the scary, freaky and ugly kind, but the kind that really wasn’t satisfied with everything or anything. I should be tapping myself on the back, applauding my accomplishments and realizing that not only am a I strong, confident and beautiful woman but that I attained and superseded a plethora of goals I had and I didn’t even realize it.
“I would like to be known as an intelligent woman, a courageous woman, a loving woman, a woman who teaches by being.” – Maya Angelou
This year 2016 my mind has been made up. My goal is to engage in my thoughts and bring them all to life. Like an artist takes to his canvas or a writer to paper, my plan is to really embrace who I am as a person and use that as my strengths, not my weaknesses. One of the things I plan to do is start with making changes to my blog – I know, I know, yet again. I realized a lot about myself last year and that is that I lost my sense of personal identity on my site. I found that I was producing content that lost my personal sense of style. I love doing product reviews and I really truly enjoy trying new products and new things – but I lost the embodiment of what Honeygirl’s World really is… My World, My Life – the things I love. My site turned into a plethora of beauty (which isn’t a bad thing), but while my reviews showcased my personality, I felt that I still lost a lot of who I really am. This year I plan to incorporate more of me into the site and retro back to what it used to be when I first starting blogging. My site will not only be for reviewing my favorite products, but sharing bits and pieces of who I am and what I love. I kind of feel like all of that got lost over the years and I plan to bring it all back. I started Honeygirl’s World as a way to document my life and that is where I plan to take it once again.
So what can you expect from me? Well, as if I wasn’t a blatantly honest soul – you can expect that much and more. I really want to hold myself accountable for all the things that I let slack over the years. My goal is to keep on top of YouTube, posting three or more videos a week – we’ll see how that turns out and just keep that portion of my life much more organized. I want to really keep on top of my blog – posting 5x or more a week, preferably more and work at keeping the content fresh and exciting but also weave in so much more of myself that you’ll feel like we are bff’s and know me on a personal level. I want to also check off things from my bucket list and in order to do that I must be more diligent and really make this “Stay at Home, Work From Home Mom” thing work. I want to make even more time for family… my family – my husband and children are my everything and so this year I plan to really be “Super Mom & Wife”.

In a week, I’ll be turning 36 years old and I’ve reached that point in my life where I don’t think I’m even old… the 30’s are the new 20’s anyway. I’ve embraced my looks, my beauty and what I look like on the outside so now I just need to embrace my beauty on the inside and continue to feed my soul. Will you be on this journey with me? I hope you’ll stick around and see!
Wishing you all a wonderful 2016 and a year filled with endless blessings and happiness!
Happy April loves. I can’t believe how fast this year is flying by me. I’ve been working with my eldest son’s school for his transition into Intermediate School and the twins are going to Kindergarten soon… excuse me while I shed a tear – lol, so this year is just speeding on by. While I’m sad to see it pass so quickly, I’m excited to see change and I welcome it. So – even though time is whirling past us, let’s take a minute and dance like no ones watching.
Music always feeds my soul… it’s something I listen to daily and it’s always playing while I’m writing to keep my mind in the mood and inspired. This month comes with all types of inspiration and lots of good and easy listening jams to keep me motivated. April is my month for love as my husband and I celebrate our wedding anniversary so this month’s playlist includes songs that include a little romance as well as those that keep me motivated, inspired and make me feel like I’m dancing. While there are a few new hits within the bunch, there are also a lot favorites from back in my day that I have enjoyed over the years.
A few songs on this month’s playlist include:
Skin Tight – Niykee Heaton
Thinking Out Loud – Ed Sheeran
Hey, Soul Sister – Train
Glory – John Legend & Common
If I Ain’t Got You – Alicia Keys
Lay Me Down – Sam Smith feat. John Legend
For a full list of the songs in this playlist or to have a listen – click here.
I love turning up some great jams while I am working on my week and month in my Kikki-K Gold Time planner. This month I decided I wanted to switch out my lilac for the gold and I’m absolutely loving it. Do you turn it up while planning? I find myself listening to music and midway through decorating a page, I’m up and dancing and I love it.
So – what’s on your playlist for April? I find that some of the songs I selected work well for my daily walks as well… so feel free to add some of these to your music playlist for the month.
I’ll be the first to admit that weight loss or losing weight in general is not the easiest road traveled. In 1998 I was 125 lbs (that’s when I graduated from high school) and in 2001 I was 160 lbs (that’s when I got married to the love of my life). While my weight slowly increased over the years, having children definitely added to the weight increase and while I’m working my butt off (literally – lol) to drop the weight, it’s a journey that doesn’t come easy and a goal that is ever changing in my life. It’s not just a “diet” as they say but a way of living and it’s a constant thing that I know I have to work on.
So let’s talk about my weight issue… I’m a busy lady who runs a full time business, blogs and is a team mom as well as homemaker and wife. How difficult can it be for me to eat healthy and exercise or stay active? Well, here’s where the issue lays… I don’t necessarily eat very unhealthy – portions seem to be okay, I don’t snack profusely and I have a green juice every single day. While I do have my naughty days when it comes to food, it’s quite balance with regards to veggie intake, etc. and we are not scarfing down prime-rib every 3 days. lol My issue is more about finding the time to eat and keep my metabolism going. Starving myself is not my intention but it often is what happens when you live a crazy and hectic lifestyle. I keep fairly active, chasing after my 3 kids keeps me on my toes, I do daily walks and I also incorporate work outs into my regimen to keep my cardio up. Again – it’s all about fitting time into my schedule to take time to do for me and that includes eating. Read a little more on my story about my weight loss here.
I have a little more information and explanation behind the photos above in this post here so you can get caught up if you are not sure what I’m talking about. But regardless… keep on reading because I got more to talk about. lol
So – while my journey has been long and it continues on I have had some really awesome support along the way and that is why I want to bring you all a little Weight loss Motivation. This week’s tip…
Surround yourself with those that will love and encourage you – regardless of how long your journey may take. This may be a long road for you and you may experience a plethora of negativity, but as long as you have someone who believes in you – supports you and encourages you, it makes it much easier to accomplish your goals.
It may seem like something easy to do – it may seem like that is already happening, but I’ll be the first to say that the Beauty Community whether on YouTube or other can be filled with a bunch of Negative Nancys that don’t give a you know what about you. If that wasn’t bad enough – the World in general is filled with negativity. Now – don’t get me wrong, I have a strong support system in many of my Blogger buddies and YouTube besties, but I’m talking about those that just seek to destroy. Earlier on when I first started YouTube, I got pregnant with my twins and let me just say the hurtful comments started and they didn’t stop. I am so lucky that I have a husband that supports me regardless of my choice so long as I am happy with who I am. It may seem like this is a small thing in comparison to everything else you should focus on – but it is all about support and encouragement that gets you to where you want to be.
I’ll touch base more on this subject a few times a month with little tips I learned along the way as well as things that help to keep me on track and focused. I have been promising to make this a weekly thing and I am just working on getting my blogging schedule and life on a system that works. But I have a ton of green juice recipes (which you can find on my old YT channel) and so much more that I use to keep me on top of my goals.
Lastly, I was interviewed by Fitness Motivation Podcast recently after they found my story through my blog and if you have some time – listen to my interview… I do things very differently than the norm and I’ll be sharing these tips with you soon as well.
