I absolutely love face masks though I’m very selective with the ones I do use since I have severely sensitive skin.  I think mud masks are not only fun to use, but offer a variety of benefits for your skin.  A great mask can be an awesome addition to any skin care regimen or used to pamper yourself when you or your skin need it most.

This particular mask is easy to use.  Simply apply a medium layer of Dead Sea mud to the face and upper neck, avoiding the eye area.  Leave the mask on to dry for 5 to 10 minutes for full absorption of the Dead Sea minerals.  Remove the mask by wetting with warm water and gently rubbing in circular motion for an overall exfoliation.  Wash away excess mud with warm water and a washcloth and gently pat skin dry.

My Thoughts…

When I first used this mask – I absolutely loved it.  When removing the product after the first use, I could feel instantly how soft my skin felt.  My pores seemed a little smaller in size and my skin just felt unbelievably clean and soft.  I loved it.  But, like I mention in many many of my posts, my skin is terribly sensitive – more so the area on my chin and jawline which tends to have eczema flare ups with a number of different products.  My dermatologist has said that some products may draw out too much moisture and cause the flare up or there may be a certain ingredient in any skin care product that does not agree with my skin.  The morning after using the mask – I woke up with a flare up from my eczema which disappointed me because I really did enjoy this product A LOT.  I immediately could see and feel how awesome my skin was the night before so needless to say – I was very bummed.

Because I really enjoyed the mask and wanted to try it out again – I decided that I would no longer use it on my whole face, but only on areas like my forehead.  Since my initial reaction to the product – which I attest to my very sensitive skin, I didn’t have any more flare ups caused by it – because I concentrated the product on my forehead and nose only.

While I am unable to get the use out of this product that I had intended and would have enjoyed thanks to skin that is just overly sensitive – I do really enjoy the benefit that this product offers.  I have had other masks on the market cause similar issues in the past so I don’t automatically attest it to being an issue of the product itself.  I still use this mask once every 10 days or so and apply directly to my forehead and nose to help with any impurities I have as well as to help with my forehead that can be oily from time to time.  Used in combination with my regular skin care regimen – it seems to work nicely.  I understand whole-heartily that some products work for others while they may not work well for me.  I think that this is still a great product at a pretty nice price point considering I have masks in my arsenal that run me over $100.  Since it is affordable – I definitely think anyone should try it out and see if it works for you.   Oh – and I forget to mention that this is a Certified Vegan and Cruelty Free product.
