Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

I have had the opportunity over the last month to strut my stuff in a trendy and fashionable scarf and I absolutely love it.  Those that are close to me know that I have quite a collection of scarves in a variety of colors, lengths and styles so being able to try something new that I do not currently have in my collection, really was exciting.

Rethreaded Inc Grace Scarf

The Grace Scarf, which is handmade by women of the Rethreaded family has a great story behind it.  The “Grace” scarf is the first product each woman entering the Rethreaded family ever creates.  It is hand made of individually cut strips of t-shirt that is then stretched into strands.  Once stretched, each strand curls and eliminates all and any errors made in the cutting process, leaving a perfect strand to add to the bundle.  Once bundled all the unique strands are tied together and made into a beautiful scarf.  To the company – this scarf is a symbol of grace because entering the Rethreaded family is stretching.

Only when we are able to give and receive grace are we able to come together as one team to make something beautiful.

The scarves are available in 4 choices.  Team Original Scarf, Original Grace Scarf, Hand-dyed Grace Scarf and Single-tone Grace Scarf.  I have the Original Grace Scarf.  These scarves are long and able to be twisted in many different ways to accommodate your style choice.  The scarves range in price from $17 – $34.00 depending on the style, color and design and can be purchased at rethreaded.com

Grace Scarf - Rethreaded

I love that these scarves can be used both casually or dressed up for a little fancy flair… but considering they are handmade – they are priced reasonably and are affordable.  Retreaded also has a very important purpose behind what they do.  The products are created by Rethreaded employees (the family) from donated t-shirts, and the products are sold through local events and online, allowing them to hire new employees.  Each employee is hired into a paid 4-month holistic training program that includes sewing, art and life skills.  Healing is facilitated through relationships, creativity and community and the cycle repeats.  What I think is so important is the reason behind it all… Global products are created by women coming out of the sex trade from around the World.

Our vision is to unravel the effects of the sex trade by fighting business with business on a global and local level.  Rethreaded seeks to unravel the effects of the sex trade, whether it takes the form of human trafficking, prostitution, pornography or strip clubs.  This multibillion dollar industry is founded on the exploitation of mostly women and children. As an organization we want to provide safe, viable, and dignity-giving work to survivors of the sex trade.

Grace Scarf - Rethreaded

The scarves (and other items they sell) are all made with an important purpose behind them and I appreciate all of their hard work and their efforts.  The scarves are well made and stylish.  Again, they are also quite affordable considering the quality and the time that goes into each one.  I am a huge supporter of companies that give back and have such a huge vision and I will continue to support Rethreaded in the future.  Check out their website – I’m sure you’ll find something there that will satisfy your fashion needs and the money will go to a great cause.

I love scarves – I wear a lot of them as belts, though! That one is not only pretty, but has a great message. Yay!

    • me too 🙂 I love using them as belts too – if they are not too small and can fit around my plus sized waist. 😉 It really does have an awesome message 😀
