I constantly get asked the following questions when it comes to my hair “What do you do with your hair? How does it grow so long? How does your hair look so healthy if you color it so often?” The fact of the matter is – great products, good hair care and taking care of my overall health have been the contributing factors. Since we are in the new year, I figured I would finally take a moment to explain to everyone what it is I do to care for my hair. I have always had long hair, for most of my life my hair has always been past my waist line and because it’s so curly, I tend to pull it back and out of my face pretty religiously. There are few products that work well for my hair and some methods may work better for me than others, but here is what I do to care for my hair and keep it healthy and long.
After having my twins, I noticed that my hair became brittle and overall lack luster. I realized then that I really needed to take care of my health and my body in order for parts of me to really benefit. During my pregnancies and after giving birth, I really lost all of the body and volume my hair used to have, my natural curls were literally a disarray and my hair quickly started to thin and have a lot of breakage. I realized quickly that I needed to really start taking care of myself as well as my hair to bring back what it was missing. The twins pregnancy was not only high risk, it also took a toll on my body. I lost over 65 lbs and it really started to show in how my hair was looking. I knew then I needed to really get on a good hair care routine to bring back some life into my long locks.
First of all, I started with drinking A LOT of water. I can drink a gallon of water each day if I’m not too busy running around and it has been an absolute part of my daily routine. When it comes to taking care of my health, I make sure this is a priority. Many don’t know this but by drinking your minimum amount of water intake each day you not only help your body, but your skin and even your hair looks shiny and pretty and in turn it will keep it healthy. Water is just the beginning – along with a good diet and great products, I was able to bring back some life to my hair.
Over the last 6 years or more, I have incorporated products from Moroccanoil into my hair care routine. These products have been an important part of not only adding shine and luster to my hair but keeping my frizz from my curls at bay. One of my favorites and a product I’ve used for many years is the Moroccanoil Treatment. This unique formula is rich in antioxidant argan oil that instantly absorbs into my hair to help enhance manageability, shine and offer long term conditioning without any funky residue. It’s lightweight and a little goes a long way, even with my full head of hair. I also notice that when I continue to nourish my hair with great products, my hair is not only healthy, without frizz and very pretty – but my curls have more bounce and my hair seems to grow quicker.
How do I treat my hair? Well – right after I get out of the shower, I immediately wrap my hair in a microfiber towel or a t-shirt and leave for about 10 minutes so that it has time to really remove a lot of the excess water. I remove the towel and take about a quarter sized amount of Moroccanoil Treatment and work through my hair starting with the ends and working my hands with the product through my hair shaft and ending at the scalp. I let the product sit and work its magic on my hair for a few minutes before I add in any additional products. The Moroccanoil Treatment is a lightweight oil that soaks into my hair quickly. It doesn’t weigh down my curls and leaves them looking healthy.
To help enhance my natural curls and give them a soft and flexible hold, I then apply the Moroccanoil Curl Defining Cream and/or the Moroccanoil Intense Curl Cream. Each product can be used on their own or in combination with one another. When I’m looking to enhance my curls for soft tresses I will use the Moroccanoil Curl Defining Cream and when I want to really bring out my natural curls that are bouncy and have a tighter coil, I will use the Moroccanoil Intense Curl Cream. Each of these products are light weight, work into my hair nicely and enhance my hair’s natural texture without leaving it crunchy or stiff.
Since I only wash my hair about two times a week, I refresh my hair and combat frizz by applying the Moroccanoil Pure Argan Oil in between washes. This Pure Argan Oil is wonderful for the hair but does double duty for the skin. I also use this product on its own through my hair after a shower if I’m not looking to add any additional product to my hair. Like the Moroccanoil Treatment, the Moroccanoil Pure Argan Oil is lightweight and feels wonderful in my hair. It leaves my hair shiny and silky but also makes my skin feel soft and smooth. My husband loves using this product as well for his body and his face.
The great thing about Moroccanoil is that they only source the highest quality argan oil originating from argan trees grown in Morocco. The argan oil used in all of the Moroccanoil hair and skin products are manufactured by a cold-press process. Moroccanoil continues to be the leader in the oil-infused hair and body product industry and these products are not only my favorites because of how they work for my hair, but also because of the outstanding quality I know to expect from the brand and their products. If you don’t already include Argan Oil into your beauty routine – whether for hair or skin or both, incorporating this oil will leave your hair shinier and healthier and your skin feeling smooth.
Since I have natural curls and have learned over the years on how to care for them, I don’t use heat on my hair often and when I do – I always ensure that I have my Moroccanoil Treatment to use for protection as well as to help with frizz. Also, when it comes to styling products, I don’t tend to use many setting sprays or gels and use my hair as natural as I can to keep it looking healthy. Everyone’s hair texture and hair type is different from others so adjusting the products you need for your hair is an individualized thing. I have been using some of these products from Moroccanoil for several years and after all this time, it’s a brand I consistently use to help keep my hair looking great. With proper hair care you can really bring back life to your locks.
I hope this little post of sharing with you some of my hair favorites and what I do consistently to care for my hair has helped to inspire you some. Moroccanoil offers a wide range of products for your hair care, hair styling and even for your skin and incorporating these products into my regimen is always a delight. While my routine for caring of my hair is simple, the products do make a huge difference. What about you? Have you tried Moroccanoil products before? If so, what are your thoughts on the brand and what they offer? Thanks so much for stopping by today and have a fabulous week!

Excellent review, Honey! I definitely need to try their Curl line, and would really love to try their Argan Oil! These look perfect for curly hair like ours!
thank you my curly hair gal. You will love their curl line – I’ve been using the two curly hair products now for over 6 years, a must have in my book… and nothing has come close. I love that it defines the curl but still leaves my hair touchably soft. Since I don’t brush my hair, it feels nice when I run my fingers through 😉
Great review. I love your hair. This makes me regret not picking up some real Moroccan oil when I was there a few weeks back.
thank you so much 🙂
The original Moroccanoil will always be a hero product to me. I have a mini that’s in my travel bag for an upcoming trip. I haven’t tried anything else though from the brand. Your hair look very healthy.
I agree. I have a small bottle in my purse on days I know my hair is going to be a crazed lunatic. Thank you 🙂
Fantastic brand–the hairspray and mousse are amazing!
I agree – the mousse and hairspray are awesome.
I’ve always wanted to try this brand! A few salons here carry it and use it.
A few here sell it too – but it can be costly. Sometimes I just order off the site because it’s so convenient 🙂
They sell and use Moroccan Oil at Vidal Sassoon, the salon I go to. I think they’ve used it on my hair, and the scent is heavenly. I need to buy some myself.
Yes, the scent is fabulous for sure. 🙂
Yass! Funny story, before I tried Moroccanoil I didn’t care what kind of shampoo/conditioner to use. But after trying it I knew that a really good product makes the world of difference.
I agree. They offer such a great line of products and it makes a difference.
Love your hair! I just got a haircut last week, and my stylist loves Moroccan oil. She used the Curl Defining Cream on my hair, and I just loved it.
thank you 🙂 I love your hair. Yes, the Curl Defining cream is a favorite for years. Right after I had my twins my curls were literally falling and not holding a curl. My stylist suggested the use of these products and I always have them on hand. They are costly – but one of the curl creams last me about a year or almost… because I only wash my hair once or twice a week.
I’ve heard such awesome things about this brand! Your hair is looking great btw. A friend of mine actually just started using the pure Moroccanoil on her dog who has terrible skin problems and after a few day he hasn’t been scratching at all!
thank you 🙂 I use coconut oil on our dog – he’s a King Charles Cavalier Spaniel with long hair and if I don’t put a few drops in it – his poor hair is a mess. The Moroccanoil is a great one to use as well – definitely an asset for the furry friend 🙂
Your hair is amazing! I’ve used a few things from Moroccanoil and have loved them. They have great hairspray too.
thank you 🙂 The brand is just so awesome 🙂
I am so jealous of your hair!
