A Smart Mirror? Hmmm… I shall say that I definitely do love trying out new tech gadgets, especially when they have to do with beauty, but I honestly didn’t think I’d be trying out a cool “tech mirror” in this day. I was quite excited to get my hands on this product and put it through the testing and trying I do with all my products and today I’m finally sharing my thoughts on this product with all of you. The HiMirror is what we are chatting about today on Honeygirl’s World.
So, what in the world is the HiMirror anyway? This interesting device was created to help you assess and analyze your skin’s conditions – including wrinkles, fine lines, your complexion and dark circles and spots, red spots and pores. This interesting device helps you to effectively and efficiently target your problem areas so you can move toward your ultimate beauty goals. How many products out there can you attribute to actually recognizing and identifying problem areas so you can adjust your skin care routine accordingly?
This mirror is basically your in-home beauty consultant that helps you get your skin care in check. The HiMirror weighs just 5.5 lbs and is built with an HD (High Definition) camera to allow you to use the mirror with facial recognition and to take your photos for results and comparison. This camera also allows you to close it when not in use, so you don’t have to worry about being filmed while the mirror is on or plugged in. It is perfect for daily use since you can close the camera lens after you’re done. You can use the mirror by operating with hand gestures or by voice commands and I love that you have the option of also using the “mirror” as an actual mirror when you’re not using the technological aspect of it.
Using the mirror and getting the hang of it is all a part of the fun, but I’ll be honest – it can all be a challenge while you’re getting the hang of it. My first challenge was trying to figure out how I can mount the mirror so I can use it with ease. I rent my house, so I couldn’t permanently drill any holes and the sticky adhesive provided by HiMirror did not like the compressed board door we have in our house, so my husband and I had to get a bit creative. However, once it was mounted, the fun began.
Starting with downloading the app to my cell phone (Android) and then setting up the WiFi connection with HiMirror took a little bit of time, but once the settings were inputted – the mirror was able to be used. It was just a matter of reaching directions and following them step by step to get everything going and an important reminder is to be patient. The HiMirror is new and because of this, they are still making updates consistently. That’s a great thing about being connect to WiFi though, the updates download when ever they are available – no need to download plugins, drivers or anything of the sort to update it.
The HiMirror analyzes the skin based on the following categories: Clarity, Texture, Firmness, Brightness and Healthiness and provides you with a comprehensive analysis of your skin so you can understand where your individual needs are: Dark Circles, Red Spots, Fine Lines, Complexion, Pores, Dark Spots, and Wrinkles. I was excited to see how I was doing with my skin care and loved that a product as this can give me a little help. Winter and colder months tend to really damage or take a toll on my skin and from the first use of this mirror a month ago to my current reading, I found that the cold definitely changed my skin dramatically. Breakouts, dark circles and a change in my skin’s clarity and texture have all changed over the month most likely resulting due to change in weather. Each time you use your mirror – you are provided with a breakdown of your skin’s analysis and you get to see an outline of your problem areas directly on your photo. I also enjoy that you get to compare your new photo (recently taken image) to your original picture.
As a beauty blogger, a product like the HiMirror really helps me to see what products are working or those that are not and see how the results are affecting my skin care at any given moment. The mirror provides me a break down of each category I mentioned and gives it a score from 0-100 to show you the areas that will need some improving or none at all.
The HiMirror also allows you to keep track of the products you use daily so that you can compare your skin care results with your products and taper your routine accordingly. Again, this is quite beneficial for someone like me who tends to try a variety of products at any given time. I can literally check out the products in “My Beauty Box” feature so that I can continue using what works or discontinue what doesn’t.
The HiMirror allows you to scan your products using the barcodes or taking a photo and entering in each product manually. Unfortunately, many of my products have barcodes on their original packaging (which I no longer have), so I had to skip this portion and plan to input and photograph the products to put into My Beauty Box at a later time. The process to do this is lengthy and you can use your cell phone app (to scan the barcode) or the actual camera on the mirror (to photography the product or scan barcode) to do this task, but I didn’t have much time to devote to inputting all of my products so I stopped after testing a few at a time.
With updates and a few tweaks to the HiMirror’s interface, I can see this mirror easily becoming a part of my skin care routine and assisting me with analyzing beauty products for my blog. The mirror offers a variety of awesome features that I have been enjoying checking out and playing with. A few of the features are: Internet Radio, Tracking and Managing your Weight with Smart Body Scale, News Feed and Headlines and Weather.
The music feature on this device is awesome and I have listened to a few fun internet radio stations while getting ready which is great. They are in the works of adding Spotify to the mix which I am looking forward to and I do love that you can use the Smart Body Scale and sync with your mirror to help analyze and work on your BMI, Weight Management, etc. When you turn on the mirror you also have the option of seeing a News Feed and Headlines which is cool and of course, you have the Weather and degrees in your location that you set up. All of these options are great and I love that they are available. I’ve spent so much time figuring out the skin care portion of this mirror that I haven’t devoted much time to learning these special options, but look forward to using it.
I think the HiMirror is definitely a fun and genius tool to explore. I really like it and have enjoyed using it the last month, while looking forward to getting to know it better. Since it’s fairly new – there are some things that I am not too fond of. Let’s talk about the hand gestures… my right arm has gotten a HUGE workout in using and getting to learn this mirror. Since the mirror is mainly controlled by gestures – you must get it spot on as the mirror is sensitive. I would have loved if it was touch screen and would have worked with the mirror being dirty. It’s a pain in the butt, but something that I have been able to work through with practice and using the mirror consistently. The power cord is VERY short. I have needed to plug in an extension cord in order to truly use the mirror where I am comfortable. I would love to see them make a longer version of the cord.
Watch my video review and demo:
But, I do like that the mirror has so many neat features. The mirror is a sophisticated device that is protected against spraying water or humidity, which makes it safe to install in the bathroom. The Quick Command Touch Keys on the side will not cause electric shock when touched with wet or damp hands. The HiMirror provides a skin analysis each time you use your unit, so you are able to keep track of what you need and while it is an investment, considering what you are getting with your mirror and the consistent updates to make improvements, it’s a pretty good investment if you are interested in skin care analysis.
Here’s the deal, the HiMirror can be considered a costly item… but you are stuck with your skin for a lifetime, so taking the proper care of it is ultimately important. If you’re a skin care lover then I think you’d enjoy something like this. The software and features are definitely a learning curve, but you get a product that could definitely change the beauty industry. I look forward to seeing the updates and improvements that HiMirror offers in the future.

Wow! This sounds really interesting!
I am so fascinated by this concept! I would love to try one out!
This seems like such a great thing to have at home!! I love how thy keep coming out with devices that we can use at home rather than visiting a dr or spa.
The future holds so much for us. This mirror is a prime example of that.
I think it’s such an interesting concept. I’m testing out a skincare product right now, and the client asked if I saw any change and I said no but I’ll keep going with it. I wish I had something like this or this! that could give me an accurate assessment.
I think these sound so neat.
I need that mirror in my life. As much as I’m scared to know I NEED to know lol
I like your reasoning on why it’s useful – trying new products it cane give you a value in change vs what you see with your own eyes or feel. 🙂
I would love to try this out. I’m curious about how the software copes with more mature skin. 😀
i’d love to try this out
I really want to try this. I feel like my skin can really benefit. 🙂
What an interesting idea – the product recommendations sound intriguing.
I would love to try one of these but not sure I am willing to invest.
Excellent review! I have one as well and I love it.
I definitely want to try one of these! My skin is just not working with me anymore,
I think it’s rebelling against me.
I want one of these so bad!!! I love gadgets so this would be perfect for me!!
I’ve seen several posts about this and my feelings just haven’t changed. I can’t picture myself actually using this mirror, plus how much is it? I don’t think you mentioned that.
Same as others, I keep seeing posts on these mirrors and I’m just not into them. No one has posted the cost conveniently in their post either so I bet a trip to the dermatologist is cheaper
Not something I would use, but I can see how this would be good for people who are tech obsessed.
I am still getting the hang of my HiMirror – the hand motions are sort of difficult. I really enjoy all that it can do though!
This seems like an interesting product, not sure if I’d be interested in it but you did a thorough review.
I keep hearing about this mirror, it’s impressive and terrifying at the same time lol! x
This sounds like such an amazing piece of beauty technology x
