So I’ve been sitting on this beauty now for a couple of weeks, playing with the shades, checking them all out and trying to figure out my favorites. After keeping this little beauty to myself this whole time, I figured I would share it with you today. It’s no secret that I’m infatuated with ColourPop and absolutely agree to hoarding all the goodness, but when I first seen this collection – I honestly didn’t think it would be something for me. I don’t use blues often and I felt at first glance that there was no warm shades that I could make use of properly in this set. But, after staring at it for a while and unable to ignore the urge, I ordered the ColourPop Forever Freshman set. When it arrived, I thought to myself… I would not make use of it. But, after a few weeks, I can finally share my thoughts with you on this little set.
The ColourPop Forever Freshman set really intrigued me because of the names and the fact that I was a Freshman in the early 90s, so I thought this was a great throwback for me. After receiving the collection, at first glance I wasn’t sure if I would enjoy the shades… but I was quite impressed after swatching and playing with them. Retailing for $30 – the Forever Freshman set includes six ColourPop eye shadows. What’s great about this set is that each shadow is full sized (as are with any of their collections). You get a variety of textures and finishes: pearlized, matte, ultra-metallic and satin luxe, which allow you to create a variety of looks or use all the shades to create something cohesive that works. I love when the sets include mattes so you can really get a complete look. The shades are gorgeous and definitely a great fall collection.
Crimper is a soft gold with multi-dimensional gold glitter in a metallic finish
As If is a mid-toned cool taupe in a matte finish
Melrose is a true rust shade in a matte finish
Koosh is an icy silver taupe in an ultra-metallic finish
90210 is a gorgeous greyed out taupe that has pink and gold glitter through out. This shade is in a satin luxe finish
Baby T is a deep blackended blue in a matte finish
The shades in this collection can easily be used to create a look though it is missing a matte highlight shade which I would like. However I find that the range on this offers cool tones that can create a gorgeous look for the season. Koosh and 90210 are such great shades for all over the lid – as are all of them. Baby T is a great outer V or crease shade or even awesome as an eye liner or lash line accent. Each shade is pigmented, as are all of the ColourPop shadows I own and will be a great addition to any eye makeup look.
I would have loved to have seen a creamy matte like shade in this collection instead of a shimmery one for highlight – but nonetheless, I think they will all work well and create something showstopping. If you have some of the shades from the 90s collection (individual shadow release – read about that here) I think these will all work well together.
Have you seen this set or have you gotten your hands on it? Do you see any colors in this collection that you’ll want? Have you made the ColourPop conversion yet?
