It’s no secret that The Body Shop is one of my favorite skin care loving brands.  I have a collection of my favorite body butters and products from The Body Shop and recently had the chance to try a product that has been on my radar for a while now.  The Body Shop Hemp Hand Protector and Hemp Soap on the Rope are part of the Enrich Not Exploit campaign (both available as permanent items – the Hemp Hand protector comes in different packaging however).  These items will help support The Body Shop Foundation in assisting to increase awareness around the negative changes happening to our planet and to create positive change.

The ultra-moisturizing Hemp Hand Protector is pretty awesome.  I have never tried this product before and honestly I wasn’t sure how I would like it.  My hands became instantly soft after the first use and since it’s really dry due to the weather, I couldn’t believe how much I enjoyed it.  Enriched with Community Trade hemp seed oil – this hand protector feels like a thick lotion when applied but smooths onto the skin quickly and sinks into the skin nicely.  It helps to restore the moisture and suppleness in my hands, leaving them touch-ably soft.

I use hand creams and lotions daily because I wash dishes several times a day and my hands can be really dry.  I honestly love how much this product moisturizes my fingers, cuticles and hands and how they are left so soft.  I didn’t think I would like this product and I’m not a fan of the scent, but, I really do like how much it has helped my hands feel and how soft they are.  I would repurchase this product because it really does leave my hands much softer than I have had them before.  I even suggest this to my husband and dad after he’s done working on the cars because it leaves their dry and rough hands feeling soft and smooth.  Did I mention I didn’t like the scent?  It’s not one I enjoy and a bit off putting – but I understand that it works and does the job it’s supposed to.

The Hemp On a Rope Soap retails for $12.00 each (150g) and The Body Shop currently has a steal for purchasing this product (check the discounts and offers – Buy 3 Get 2 Free or Buy 2 Get 1 Free with Code APRILSTEALS.  Please verify if deal is still available.)

The Hemp Soap on a Rope delivers non-drying, sensitive cleansing for dry skin and includes moisturizing hemp seed oil.  This is a rich soap that can be hang-dried by it’s very sturdy and durable rope so it doesn’t pick up any dirt or bacterial while sitting on the side of the bath tub.  This soap is enriched with Community Trade Hemp Seed Oil so it leaves your skin feeling soft and hydrated after use.

I think this soap not only moisturizes my body but lathers really well, leaving my skin feeling soft, but also clean and without a funky residue that bar soaps can tend to do to my body.  I definitely recommend this product for a man, as the scent (like the hand protector) is not for me and the design and look of the bar is not something I would usually gravitate too.  However, it’s a great quality soap, made well, lasts a long time with average use and I like that it doesn’t dry out my skin.  Overall, my skin did enjoy this product, I’m just not a fan of the scent or overall look.  I love the lather it offers my skin, that rich feel you get against your body and wish the scent wasn’t as such.  Since I referenced the scent several times in this post – just to explain… I’m not a huge fan of hemp scent in general.  It’s quite earthy and very organic.  It’s not bad – I’m just not fond of it.

Ingredients: Sodium Palmate (Surfactant), Sodium Palm Kernelate (Surfactant), Aqua/Water/Eau (Solvent), Glycerin (Humectant), Sodium Cocoate (Surfactant), Butyrospermum Parkii Butter/Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter (Skin Conditioning Agent), Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil (Emollient), Parfum/Fragrance (Fragrance), Sodium Chloride (Viscosity Modifier), Tetrasodium Glutamate Diacetate (Chelating Agent), Coconut Acid (Surfactant), Tocopherol (Antioxidant), Citric Acid (pH Adjuster), CI 77492/Iron Oxides (Colorant), CI 77007/Ultramarines (Colorant), CI 77891/Titanium Dioxide (Colorant).

Overall – I do like both products (besides the scent factor) and love that my skin is very hydrated and smooth when using both products.  The hand protector is definitely my favorite and the hemp soap on the rope works really well but if you are sensitive to certain rich and organic scents, you may want to steer clear.  I’m always impressed with what The Body Shop does with their products and they support they give to various needs and campaigns.  I highly suggest checking these out to see if they are something you would like and support our Earth while you’re at it.

Have you tried any of these products before?  If so, what are your thoughts on them?  If not, can you see yourself picking these up in the future?

I need to get that hemp on a rope for Jeff, lol. I would love the hand cream!

    • The hand protector really is awesome. I’m not a fan of the scent for either – but both work really well in moisturizing… especially with your winters where you are at 😉

My teen boys would probably mistake the soap for another “plant” and get a kick out of it. 😉
