It’s no secret that I have seriously sensitive skin.  For years I had absolutely no trouble using whatever cleanser worked, or trying out new skincare products but over the last 2 years, it hasn’t been as easy.  After being diagnosed with severe eczema by my dermatologist two years ago, I discontinued a lot of beauty products that I used daily like foundation and concealer and I have to be really careful with products that can cause a flare up.  Because of this, I like to test scrub products or those that exfoliate my skin on a small area on my face before testing completely to see if I have a reaction.  While I love trying new skin care products, this is my task prior to testing them out completely.

Exscrub Me? Beautisol Citrus Face ExfoliantRecently I had the opportunity to try out a cool scrub from Exscrub Me?  Beautisol Citrus Face Exfoliant.  This product is pretty cool in that it is affordable – only costing you $17 for a 2 fl oz tube.  I am a huge lover of scrubs that are effective, yet gentle on my super sensitive skin, so I was very excited to try this since it is made for all skin types.  This product is made to remove dead skin so you can rock out fresh gorgeous skin!

When you first squeeze the product out of the tube, it looks really cool – with a white scrub including little pinkish/red micro beads.  I enjoyed staring at the product because it was just super eye appealing to me.  Application of the product was easy and it took very little effort to apply a small amount of the scrub to my finger tips and work in an area I wanted to test to see if I would have a reaction to the scrub.  Unfortunately, even if I didn’t have a reaction after the first use, the scrub itself was a tad bit too harsh for my skin and a little of the product was too much for my skin to handle.  I expected some redness and maybe a little sensitivity as with any scrub, but the beads seemed a bit too abrasive on my skin and it felt uncomfortable while I was massaging them in my test area.  The area around my nose is my usual test spot since it tends to be able to take most products and I had a difficult time using it.  I tested it on my chin which is another area and had a mild flare up through the course of the night even after moisturizer.  Even if I didn’t have the best reaction to using the product, I loved that the areas I tested it on felt clean and invigorated.

Exscrub Me? Beautisol

Now, I have super sensitive skin and many products can have some funky reactions to my face so I normally don’t attest it to the product just malfunctioning as much as I do take into consideration that I just have weird skin. lol  I didn’t want to let the product go to waste, so I used it on my elbows.  I tend to have super dry skin on my elbows and wanted to see if this would work so that I could get some use out of it.  After applying it – I noticed my dry skin on my elbows look much better after I washed the scrub off.  My skin felt moisturized and soft and while I can’t use this product on my face, I’m certainly going to make use of it on my elbows, knees and heels of my feet.  Now, I only exfoliate one to two times a week since my skin is so sensitive – most the time, just one time a week and this product would still be too harsh using it at that amount.

Overall, even if I am not able to make use of the Beautisol Exscrub Me? Face Exfoliant on my face, I’m glad I was able to find some use for it.  Since my initial testing, I’ve been actually using it to exfoliate my feet and it is working like a charm.  I’m so glad I’m able to make good use of it.  At the price point, it’s affordable and I love the scent of it.  I think this is definitely something you could add to your skin care routine if you love citrus type scents – it makes you feel awake and rejuvenated.  I especially love that it is Cruelty Free and manufactured in the US.

I agree, it’s a bit abrasive for sensitive skin…. since you used it for your elbow, I’m thinking I can use these for my feet too!

    • Yes girl, I have used on my feet and my feet love them 🙂 I use a lot of slippahs… so I need the extra scrubby to keep them soft 😉

  2. that’s awesome that it worked for you. I know that I will not be buying microbead products if I can avoid it. I have been using it on my feet and have been liking it. 🙂

  4. I am. I never used to be and I think it’s because I took it for granted and now I just have no choice but to be sensitive. My feet, elbows and knees love it though

I love the beads in scrubs but my skin has change so much recently that I don’t know how it would act on me.
