I have always been “all about that glow” and when it comes to products that offer that bronze and golden glow I love, well – well, I’ll be the first person in line to bathe myself in all it. Over the last two weeks (maybe more) I’ve been posting on my Snapchat about a product that has literally been my go-to highlight and bronze goddess love and today I share it with you along with a few lip products I have been using as well. The Makeup Revolution Vivid Shimmer Brick Radiant is a gorgeous product and I’m excited to be sharing it with you today.
The Makeup Revolution Vivid Shimmer Brick Radiant is a combination of bronzer and highlights with a lot of shimmer and sheen to give you a gorgeous glow and definition. This particular color is perfect for all skin tones because you can use the color in the brick individually or swirl your brush together to pick up all the colors and apply for a showstopping finish.
I have tried a few products from Makeup Revolution and this is by far my absolute favorite. Retailing at just $7.00 – I feel like you get a highend product in a drugstore price tag. Since this brick includes a lot of shimmer, I suggest applying it directly to the cheek bones or cheek area with a fan brush so it helps to distribute the product evenly without leaving anything but glow on the cheeks. When using this product, I love that it not only can be used for the face, but also as eye shadow. The colors in this palette make it perfect to create a shimmery eye look for all over the lid and is perfect for those beachy bronze looks we tend to wear for summer. Each color in the brick is pigmented, offers a lot of color with just one swipe and feels nice on the skin. If I had used this product on you and didn’t tell you where it was from – I could tell you it was a highend brand and you would believe me.
The highlight on my cheekbones is a combination of the top two shades – applied with an oval dense brush to pick up the color and sweep it onto my cheeks. Then with a fan brush I blended out the two shades together so there would not be any harsh lines. I also have the fourth shade from the top of the palette (the champagne gold) blended into the inner tear duct area of my eyes and on my brow bone as my highlight.
The packaging on this Vivid Shimmer Brick does look a bit cheap – but it doesn’t feel like it. It’s got a clear cover which allows you to see the product well, but the casing and compact that it is in is well made and sturdy. I have dropped it many times without worry because it hasn’t cracked the product and nothing broke inside. While it does have a cheaper look to it – it holds up really well.
The actual product within the palette is really nice. It’s firm in the pan and pressed well so that you don’t have a soft buttery texture that can crumble. While the texture of the powder is firm, it’s still applies easily without any issues and leaves such a wonderful glow. This product has a lot of shimmer so I suggest tapping off your brush some prior to applying to your cheeks and a little of it goes a long way. I have applied to much of this a few times and didn’t realize it till I got into good lighting… as I always like to say – “I was glowing to the Gods”. Since there are bronze shades in that compact that are quite dark… this will work as a great bronze blush for me in the summer when I swirl all the shades together. These last on the skin all day – even without foundation or primer to ground the product on the skin. I can apply it in the morning and by evening I still have a sheen left behind.
Again – for the price point, I think this is a great buy. I have gotten similar from Physician’s Formula before for twice the price. While Physician’s Formula products are better on my skin, I didn’t have any issues and I truly enjoy and love this particular one from Makeup Revolution.
I also got to try some lippies from Makeup Revolution for the first time. I’ve been eyeing their Lip Lacquers for a while now and though these are not them, it’s good to be able to try a few lip products from a brand I’ve been enjoying.
The Amazing Lipsticks (retail $3.00) are super affordable lipsticks with vibrant shades in an array of colors. I got Love Nude (cream nude pink), Enchant (soft Barbie pink – blue based pink) and Reckless (deep raspberry red with a blue undertone). Each of these lipsticks are a creamy texture with a gloss sheen and are very pigmented. They apply easily onto the lips and feel really comfortable.
With one swipe you get vibrant pigment and I really like how nice they feel on the lips. Like with any type of lipstick with a cream finish or texture, you will get transfer, these last about the same amount of average lipsticks. You surely can’t beat the price point for these… showstopping shades and gorgeous color for 3 Bucks… yes, they are definitely worth looking at. The Amazing Lipstick line has a variety of shades from deep dark reds and nudes to pinks and purples so I highly suggest checking it out.
On my lips in the photo above I’m using Enchant and if you can see that gold glisten on my cheek bones, well – that’s the Vivid Shimmer Brick Radiant.
The next set of lippies I’ll be talking about are the Lip Euphoria Matte Lip Colors & Lip Amplification Gloss. With the liquid lipstick craze going on at the moment, these are not only great affordable buys but they are definitely something to look into.
The Lip Euphoria $5.00 (I have Rebirth and Fate) are buttery and creamy soft matte lip colors that offer intense pigment. They are available in 6 shades and apply easily on the lips leaving them drenched in gorgeous color. Fate has been my absolute go-to the last two weeks because it’s perfect for those days that I want a little color to my lips and offers that “one swipe and done” color I tend to pull for. You don’t have to worry about making a mistake with these, because they are not your traditional liquid lipstick and do not stain or set on the lips.
This product and the Lip Amplification Gloss both have doe foot applicators which make applying them to the lips easy. They smooth onto the lips without any issues and reapply well too. Their packaging also makes these perfect to tuck into the purse or makeup bag for touch ups on the go.
They remind me of a gloss like formula but are not sticky and apply like a matte lip cream from NYX but with a gloss-like finish. I did notice that Rebirth did travel outside of my lip line and feather some what, but fixing the issue was easy with lip liner. (You can see in the image below – what had happened without a liner) And, these are not transfer proof, so they will kiss off and come off with drinking and eating… but reapplying is a breeze. At just $5.00 each – they are definitely worth looking into to see if this is something you would enjoy.
The Lip Amplification Lipgloss $5.00 is similar in texture to the Lip Euphoria but in my opinion has a more cream like texture than gloss texture where as the Lip Euphoria seems like it has a more gloss texture. If I had to compare this one – this would be much more like a NYX Matte Lip Cream, but still with a little glossier finish. It applies nicely to the lips, feels nice on the lips and like the Euphoria, it does kiss off and transfer when eating or drinking but applying is easy to do. It doesn’t feel sticky on the lips (neither of them do) and you really get a punch of pigmentation with just one swipe. This product is also available in 6 shades and I have the shade Epic Love which may be one of my go-to lippies for the summer, it’s a gorgeous coral pink.
I love that both the Lip Euphoria and Lip Amplication lippies are not only affordable but are comfortable on the lips. If you ask me though – they are both glosses with a little different formulation in each so they leave a different feel and finish on the lips. I seriously am impressed with the Makeup Revolution lippies I have tried so far. I love that while they offer a drugstore price point, the lip products are very vibrant and offer such great pigmentation.
In the look above I am using the Makeup Revolution Vivid Shimmer Brick Radiant as my highlight on my cheek bones as well as some of the shades blended on to my eyelid to create my eye makeup. On my lips I’m using a light application of Love Nude Amazing Lipstick. I apologize for the lighting as I took this photo in my car and using my front facing camera.
You can purchase these products at your local Ulta or Ulta.com and they are also available at Makeuprevolutionusa.com. I am looking forward to trying out some of the products offered on the UK site because there are a variety of different products that I’ve had my eyes on as well. You can check out my review and swatches on a few palettes I have tried from Makeup Revolution here.
Have you tried any of these products or anything from Makeup Revolution? If you have, what are your thoughts on the products and are there anything that you think I should check out? If not, what products do you have your eyes set on trying?
