When it comes to hair care – I try a lot of different products. I have hair that tends to be a bit finicky and definitely needs extra care. While I do have my favorites, I’m always interested in trying out new things and I especially love a good hair product that includes some of my favorite ingredients like Argan and Coconut oils. With curls for days and long tresses, I do what I can to keep my crazy hair at bay. Recently I was sent some goodies for my hair – the L’Oreal Paris Advanced Haircare Extraordinary Oil Collection and today I’m going to share my thoughts with all of you.
The L’Oreal Advanced Haircare Extraordinary Oil Collection includes products that are perfect for dry hair – which just happens to be the type of hair I have. Since my hair is so long and because I live in a tropical climate, my locks tend to be drier than I would like – which means I need to compensate with hair products that will add extra moisture. The Extraordinary Oil line not only helps to rehydrate and restore my hair, but some of the products like the Extraordinary Oil Curls Re-nourish mask also help with my curly hair. I received 4 out of the 7 different products I seen on their website and I’ll break it down for you and share my thoughts on each I had the opportunity to try.
First, you have the L’Oreal Extraordinary Oil Nourishing Shampoo ($4.99 / 25.4 fl.oz. – 750mL). This shampoo is perfect for daily care to help dry and lifeless hair. It’s a lightweight shampoo that is non-greasy and when applied to the hair – it left my hair feeling really clean, but not dry. I don’t have very many lathering products since I try to use sulfate-free hair care, so I really worried that this shampoo would leave my hair stripped of its natural oils. It actually did really well with my hair and I literally noticed after the first wash that my hair was pretty shiny and soft.
The advanced formula of the Extraordinary Oil Nourishing Shampoo includes an oil complex that has oils + botanical extracts in oil to rapidly propel hydration to the fiber and seal the cuticle. With the Arginine-K Complex, this system penetrates the hair fiber from the root, to the core, to the tip for healthier feeling and looking hair. Once you use this product, your hair is just about instantly transformed to silkier, softer – more lustrous hair. I was not only amazed, but very impressed. I only wash my hair about one to two times a week so I worried that this product would leave my curls dry and my hair (and my scalp) seemed to like the product overall. Oh – did I mention it has a soft fragrance? I actually really enjoy the scent, it’s light – but smells really good… almost floral, though I do not think that is it. I believe it is a mix of the argan and coconut oil, but I haven’t been able to pinpoint it yet. I like that the fragrance is light because it doesn’t affect my allergies.
The L’Oreal Paris Advanced Haircare Extraordinary Oil Nourishing Conditioner ($4.99 / 25.4 fl.oz. – 750mL) can be used for daily care to help with dry, lifeless hair. It’s lightweight and non-greasy just like the shampoo and includes the same oil complex as well. After just one wash, I noticed my hair definitely softer and smoother. I love the thickness of this conditioner. It is not too thick, but thick enough to coat my hair nicely but still offering a good amount of slip. This conditioner really is the perfect one for detangling my hair while in the shower, which I like to do.
Just like the shampoo – the conditioner claims to help rejuvenate the hair with weightless nutrition. The Extraordinary Oil system instantly transforms dry, lifeless strands into silkier, softer, more lustrous hair. With the Advanced Formula Oil Complex of oils and botanical extracts in the oil – this conditioner helps to rapidly propel hydration to the fiber and seals the cuticle. It also includes the Arginine K complex to help penetrate hair fiber from root, to core, to tip for healthier hair. After the first use of using this product, I was amazed at how much I enjoy it. It did well in moisturizing and hydrating my hair and left my hair very very soft.
I’m all about a great mask, especially one that is formulated to help my curls so I was intrigued and excited to try this one from L’Oreal. The L’Oreal Paris Advanced Haircare Extraordinary Oil Curls Re-Nourish Mask ($6.99 / 8.5 fl.oz. – 250 mL) is formulated to rehydrate, restore and reinfuse bounce into naturally curly hair. It’s a rinse-out treatment best suited for very dry and curly hair. This mask instantly penetrates the hair to quench and calm even very dry, curly hair with hydration and nutrition. The Re-Nourish mask is made with the Extraordinary Oil system to help defrizz the hair, and infuse curls with bounce.
The mask itself has a very light scent to it – like the other products in this line and is quite thick, though still manageable. It includes the Advanced Treatment Oil Complex (AMLA Extract) system with oils + botanical extracts in oil to penetrate the fiber to instantly replenish curls with nourishment and elasticity. After one use I noticed my hair was shinier, rehydrated and soft but also – my curls had a lot of bounce.
When it comes to masks, I can use a lot of it (just like conditioners) because my hair is nearly past my rear. I found that this product was thick enough to coat my strands, but also thin enough to be worked into my hair without using a lot of product as I normally would. It’s easy to use – simply apply this mask to your wet hair after shampooing. Massage through to the ends of your hair and leave in for 3-5 minutes before rinsing. This product has to be rinsed out. It is too thick and has too much oils in it to leave over night in my opinion… I tried it the first time I used it just to see and it left my scalp feeling kind of oily. I did like it when used as directed and at the price point, I think I may continue to purchase this product to keep on hand. It really helped to soften my dry ends leaving them looking healthy and smooth.
Lastly, the L’Oreal Paris Advanced Haircare Extraordinary Oil Lustrous Oil Serum ($6.99 / 3.4 fl.oz. – 100mL), is quite a great little product. As many of you know if you’ve been here reading my posts for a while, I really am a huge oil fan and use coconut and argan oil (to name a few) in my hair consistently and usually daily. I was so happy to try a hair serum with the oil complex the same as in the other products from this line that I have tried. This product claims to instantly add shine and a silky-touch to your hair and is lightweight and non-greasy. It’s a leave-in treatment that is perfect for dry and lifeless hair.
The Extraordinary Oil system instantly absorbs, transforming dry hair strand by strand for weightless silky shine. It includes the same system of oils + botanical extracts in oil to help rapidly propel hydration to the fiber and seals the cuticle. With oils like Chamomile, Coconut, Sunflower, Soja, Gardenia and Rose – this oil serum helps to add instant shine and a gorgeous, soft and silky touch. I apply this product as directed, after using the shampoo and conditioner I apply the serum throughout the lengths of my hair concentrating it on the ends. I love that this product can be used before a shampoo to help nourish and protect the hair and before styling to help control and discipline hair. But, most importantly for me it also works well as a finishing touch to any style or hair look for exquisite softness and lustrous shine.
The L’Oreal Paris Advanced Haircare Extraordinary Oil line has been such a great asset in my hair care needs. I have used products from the L’Oreal Feria line (for hair coloring) and that is basically it – so I was not only impressed by my first use of the hair products from this line, but also with the quality considering the price point. Each of the products offered a light scent – almost floral, that made use quite pleasing and didn’t leave me nauseous as other hair products can do and I liked that it worked so well with my curly hair. Since I tend to have drier hair than usual, I love a product line that really replenishes my hair and keeps it looking great for longer periods of time, especially since I usually only wash 1-2 times a week. Since these products have oils that help to seal the cuticle and hydrate your natural hair fibers, I think they would make great products for those who color their hair consistently. I noticed that after using these products, my red didn’t fade as quickly and I didn’t have as much bleeding of color in my shower after a wash. These products have helped to keep my hair color lasting longer as well as keeping my hair looking great. Since all four products are infused with vitamins and antioxidants, my hair feels so soft and shiny and has felt this way after just one use.
Overall, I’m really liking them – loving the price, and after a month of using these, I look forward to repurchasing some of my favorites.

I love their golden look. They look like they are fabulous oil-based products. And I’m glad you’ve had good results with them!
yes, that golden orange look is really nice and perfect to make you cheerful for spring and summer for sure. I was very impressed and glad they worked. My hair and skin is so finicky I never know which one will react and thankfully they both took well to these 🙂
My hair is so crazy. It is dry and frizzy, but at my scalp, it’s oily. I do love L’Oreal’s Advanced hair care products though… I bet these are just as great.
I am dry at the scalp with frizzy dry hair… so I’ve been loving these. Since they do have oil, I definitely suggest keeping away from scalp with mask and serum 🙂
With your gorgeous head of hair you need products like this. I think the oil serum sounds the most unique.
it’s definitely awesome. And yes… oh my gosh, my hair just soaks up the quench.
I want to try that oil serum! This line should be perfect for my curly hair as well! <3
Yes, girl… I think you will love the oil serum and the hair mask. My hair loves those the most 🙂
I keep intending to pick up this line and try it out. I’m a little, okay, a lot up to my eyes in hair care right now but a few more bottles and tubs won’t really hurt… Will they?
hahaha! I was just talking about that with my hubby. These are so affordable though, they are worth the buy and hoard. lol
I like the shampoo, conditioner and serum but the mask left my hair surprisingly frizzy 😢
Awww… that’s a bummer that it left you frizzy. I liked the mask. :/
I recently tried a sample of L’Oreal Mythic Oil conditioner and I love it. The scent is amazing too (kind of reminds me of Biolage) L’Oreal makes good hair products!
Oh – I need to check that one out too 🙂
I love the L’Oreal oils, but I wish more of their shampoos were SLS free. This range sounds really great otherwise.
I completely agree as well. 🙂
Believe it or not, I’ve never used L’Oreal hair products. These sound great though. Right now, I’m basically willing to buy anything with “oil” in the name – a sucker for marketing 😉
This seems to be a dupe of Redken diamond oil that’s been discontinued. The scent is spot on the same. I finally tried it and I love it. My hair looks and feels great, smells wonderful. To me there seems to be some sandalwood in the scent but can not place it exactly. Smells a bit like sandalwood, amber, vanilla, sugar
