Skincare is such an individual thing for most people. What might work for some, may not work for others and sometimes products that are expensive or affordable may offer different results for each person. I have tried so many different skincare products over the years, that I kind of know what may be a dud for me the first few times I use it and what may turn into my holy grail of products. Today I’m going to be sharing with all of you my thoughts on a few products I have tried from PCA Skin. Prior to being contacted by this company, I really didn’t know much about them. But, I’m finally able to share my thoughts with you on products I tried from my specific treatment plan.
Let me start off by saying that this post is very long overdue. I have been using these products for quite a few months now but as a beauty blogger, I get so many skin care products to test, that it can take me a while to see what works and how it works in combination with favorites I already have in my beauty routine. PCA Skin sent me 5 products to try that were specifically recommended for me since I have Eczema prone, dry skin. I also wanted something that would help cleanse my skin since I had been struggling with acne over the last few months. I’m going to discuss with you what products I got and how I used them all.
Let’s start with the treatment bars. The Dry Skin Relief Bar (net wt 3.2 oz / 90 g – $40) was probably one of my favorite products that I had the chance to try out. This bar is formulated to help soothe and improve dry skin concerns, including psoriasis and seborrheic dermatitis. The bar is formulated with 3% salicylic acid and antioxidants. My skin really takes on a ton of damage during the winter months and that is usually when my Eczema likes to flare up. I used this bar daily and loved that it had a light lather and left my skin feeling clean without stripping the moisture that my face needed to keep from drying out. This bar can be used all over the body and even on the scalp which is perfect for dry scalp issues. I also enjoyed the fact that it helped to calm the recurrence of itching, redness, flaking, and irritation I often get from dry skin during the winter months.
I think the packaging was a bit of a challenge to work with (even if it came with a sponge to use with it) and I would love to see this in an actual bar form so it would be easy to use, but overall, I enjoyed this product.
The Blemish Control Bar (net wt 3.2 oz / 90 g – $40) was also a favorite. Honestly, I think the bars from PCA Skin are definitely worth checking out. The Blemish Control Bar is a skin purifying and cleansing bar that is perfect for oily skin or those suffering/experiencing acne. It is formulated to clear pores of oil and to soften the skin, while reducing existing acne breakouts. It also prevents future acne breakouts with 2% salicylic acid. With purifying ingredients like eucalyptus oil, this bar is definitely something for anyone experiencing unruly skin may enjoy. I can’t use this bar daily, but find that it’s perfect for once a week for me and keeps my skin looking fresh while purging my skin of impurities that tend to make it’s way to the surface. I haven’t had many breakouts since using this so I’m pretty stoked at how well it has been working for me. If you have sensitive or dry skin, you may want to use a little of this at a time and don’t use daily. I found that when I first started testing out the product, my skin became extremely dry for several days. Once I figured out the best solution for using it, it has been great.
Again, like the other bar, I’d love to see the packaging switch up on these.
The Intensive Brightening Treatment was something I was a bit scared to use but I do enjoy a good retinol product. This product is expensive considering the size of the tube (net wt 1 oz / 29.5 g – $109) and I honestly would be deterred by the price having not tried the brand before. But, I’m so so glad that I had the opportunity to try this specific product because I immediately was hooked after the first try. In just three days I noticed a huge difference in my skin. The discoloration I had before had lightened so dramatically that my mom just had to get her hands on this product immediately.
This retinol night-time treatment is powerful and creates an even, bright and radiant complexion. With pure retinol, resveratrol, and niacinamide to help promote a healthy glow while also improving discoloration, I loved the results. The Intensive Brightening Treatment has potent, stable ingredients that are patented in an Omnisome delivery system to carry the ingredients deeper into the skin for superior results. I have used many brightening creams in the past and I think this may be my favorite. I’m super thankful that a little goes a long way with this thing because with that price point, I’ll be saving my coins for a while before I can replace it. But, I have to say, it’s definitely something I’m going to repurchase.
Now, let’s talk Purifying Mask. The PCA Purifying Mask (net wt 2.1 oz / 60 g – $58) is a mask that is developed and formulated for oily, normal and combination skin. I was a bit worried because I have dry skin and I had hoped that it wouldn’t cause me any issues. This purifying mask is an at-home clay-based treatment mask that exfoliates, detoxifies and removes impurities from the skin. It leaves the skin feeling smooth and looking clear and bright. It includes a well-balanced botanical blend of ingredients to promote clear complexion while also having the clay included to eliminate the build-up of impurities in the pores. It gently exfoliates the build-up of surface debris, leaving your face with a smooth and clear canvas.
I have used this product the last few months and have enjoyed it, but I have to use it sparingly. I can easily have a dry spell or dry spots on my face if I use too much of it or if I use it too often. But, when I do use it, my skin feels so soft after and even radiant. It is definitely a mask I enjoy, but I have to make sure I’m not overdoing it too much. I love the way my skin feels once I remove it and how vibrant it looks, but it definitely does purify, so I have to be sure not to strip my natural moisture so much that my Eczema flares up.
Lastly is the Weightless Protection Broad Spectrum SPF 45 (net wt 2.1 oz / 60 g – $44). I use SPF daily because I have such sensitive skin and I’m not getting any younger, so if I can help my skin out by protecting it, I’ll do it. I have tried many different kinds over the years and I do have my favorites, so I wasn’t sure that I would enjoy this one, honestly. This Broad Spectrum SPF 45 is quick absorbing, which is a huge deal for me since I’m always on the go. It is lightweight and perfect to be worn under makeup. It provides the skin with antioxidant protection and protects against UV rays. I thought it was awesome that it was Awarded the Skin Cancer Foundation Seal of Recommendation as well.
I didn’t notice any white cast while using this SPF, which is always a plus for me. And, my skin absorbed it well. Here are a few of the ingredients in this SPF for those who are wondering: Zinc Oxide, Octinoxate, Silybin, and Caffeine.
This SPF applies easily and again, it is so lightweight, I forget that I have it on. I have been using this on my sons as well since I always have it on me and they forget they have sunscreen on at all. I especially enjoy that it doesn’t make my skin feel oily or greasy and I don’t feel the need to overly reapply like other sunscreens on the market. I’m not a huge fan of the fact that it has Octinoxate in the formulation, but so far, it’s working for me.
So, after months of trying out these products from PCA Skin, I finally have some information to share with all of you. Overall, I do really enjoy the products I’ve tried so far. There are a variety of pros and cons for each, but I’m just really thankful that it didn’t cause my skin to go to war with me. PCA Skin was founded in 1990 and for over 25 years they have continued to provide great products for their customers and beauty professionals worldwide.
PCA Skin does not perform or condone animal testing at any point during their formulary process and all ingredients used have decades of research proving their safety on human skin. I was quite excited to try these products and as I mentioned before, I do really like them. I will be saving up some money to continue using these products as a part of my skin care regimen and I look forward to trying others the brand has to offer.

Your skin looks fantastic, Honey! Oh, I feel so guilty because I have a box full of PCA Skin skincare products to use, and I’ve gotta get going. I have been using PCA Skin Eye Gel for more than two years, and I adore it. It is just difficult to stop using what I’m using and start using a slew of new products. But you did it, and I should too!
Thank you 😉 It definitely is a challenge to get using the new products. But I like to incorporate my current faves with the new ones to try as well as use the new ones on its own to test out. It’s a task, so I completely understand. My gosh, I would like to check out the Eye Gel and see how that works for me too.
If my memory is correct, I know I have tried some of their products ij the past. DId they revamp their packaging? You have gorgeous skin.
I was sent a bunch of products and have yet to try them with all the other brands I have. You have encouraged me to get with it!
Your skin looks amazing, Honey! I have a few of their products awaiting review, and you have inspired me to pull them out!
