January is such a fun month for me.  So many thin January is such a fun month for me.  So many things keep my schedule fruitful and fun.  To celebrate the beginning of a new year as well as Muʻumuʻu Month, I wanted to share with you one of my favorite pieces from the Rare Breed Collection - the Iolani dress.   How did Muʻumuʻu Month start?  The muʻumuʻu is a loose-fitted dress featuring various florals and prints. #muumuumonth was started by Kauaʻi woman, Shannon Hiramoto who after receiving a few boxes filled with beautiful vintage muʻumuʻu was challenged to wear them out.  She began to use a different muʻumuʻu each day in January 2015 and muʻumuʻu month was born.  The muʻumuʻu holds a rich history in Hawaiʻi and many wahine can remember the first muʻumuʻu they received or wore.  My first was a holokū in teal and white and adorned with beautiful white lace trimming the bodice and the train.  I wish I still have photos of it - it was beautiful.   To celebrate muʻumuʻu month, Rare Breed Maui is sharing their take on a traditional muʻumuʻu featuring hand-drawn illustrations and various designs and prints.  Pictured is the pua kalaunu "crown flower" print.  We have named this dress Iolani, a ruffle puff sleeve dress with a flowy swing hem.  It is a slightly different take on a traditional muʻumuʻu for a playful and flirty feel and look.   Have you heard of muʻumuʻu month, and if you have - what are you wearing this month to celebrate? #muumuulife #hawaii #fyp #artofinstagram #artistofinstagram #hawaiianfashion #hawaiifashion  #illustration #art #rarebreedmaui #inspire #hawaiianlife #customdesign #originalartwork #fashion #crownflower #puakalaunu #queen #storytime #hawaii #muumuu

I'm going through this mind-space fuckery that takes no prisoners and I have to F*ck my feelings and push passed it.  Oh well... such is life I guess and Im sure some whiskey can cure (or at least numb). I'm working through it and reminding myself daily that my quality of life is important!
