I think subscription boxes are definitely something cool, especially this time of year when we can’t quite figure out what to get those on our shopping lists.  In years past, I have purchased a few months of gift subscriptions to boxes that were beauty related or skin care related, even food ones – but I have never heard of a candle subscription before.  I was pleasantly surprised to be introduced to Vellabox about a month ago when the company reached out and asked if I wanted to give them whirl and let me just say – I’m very impressed with goods I received.

“Curating Your Inner Light!”

Vellabox is a monthly subscription service that offers you the finest candles from the finest American Artisans each month.  When you receive your Vellabox your senses will absolutely awaken with scents and beauty of gorgeous gifts inside.  Vellabox curates the perfect combination of the highest quality candles and handpicked products that compliment your candle.  Each are non-toxic, lead-free and hand-poured from the best companies in our country.  Each and every month you get great indulgence and lovely fragrances for you to try.

Each candle comes beautifully wrapped, but I took the photos after opening the box, so I was unable to wrap them as neatly as they arrived.  I did however open the box live on camera, which you can watch here to see how they were received.

I love how sweetly they were packaged and the scent of each candle wafted through my room immediately upon opening the box.  Each candle was packaged in what seemed to me to be a canvas like wrapping and tied with a little bow with twine.

Vellabox comes in three different box selections for your choosing:

  • Lucerna ($10/month) – which includes One 4oz. Candle per month and a surprise gift.  Your candle has an approximate burn time of 25 hours. $2.00 shipping
  • Ignis ($20/month) – includes One 8oz. candle per month and a surprise gift.  Your candle has an approximate burn time of 50 hours.  $2.00 shipping
  • Vivere ($30/month + free shipping) includes One 8oz candle and One 4oz Candle per month with a surprise gift.  Both candles have a burn time of 75 hours total.

For testing, I received the Vivere Box which included two candles and a special gift (which was a scrumptious snack bar).  Both candles are so lovely and smell wonderful.

  • The Firewood Spice + Smoke Soy Candle from Glint Candles retails for $18.00 (8oz) and the fragrance reminds me of a camp fire with a hint of marshmallows roasting over the fire, but that’s just my opinion.  This scent includes:  Chopped Firewood, campfire smoke and notes of toasted cinnamon and orange.  Top Notes: Cypress, orange, Core: Pine, cinnamon, clove, Base: Smoke, oakmoss, fir, balsam
  • The Often Wander Amber Vanilla Candle retails for $18.00 (4 oz.) is an all natural soy wax candle that is hand poured in San Diego.  It i ncludes a musky, sweet and intoxicating fragrance that is both masculine and feminine.  It’s sensual and smells lovely.  Often Wanders candles are made with quality essential and fragrance oils and a cotton wick.

If you are a candle lover that’s looking for different candles to try or on the hunt for a gift for a loved one this holiday season, I definitely suggest checking out Vellabox.  Vellabox also offers a little shop on their website to select individual candles for purchase (without the subscription).  I definitely suggest checking out Vellabox to see if this is something that you or someone you love would enjoy.

You can check out Vellabox and their subscriptions available as well as their gift subscriptions here: https://www.vellabox.com/

Have you heard of Vellabox before?  Do you think this is something you’d enjoy?

Ah… I’m pretty impressed that my November Ipsy Glam Bag arrived at a reasonable time this month considering the contents.  Check out what I got in my Ipsy Glam Bag and my thoughts on each of the items received.

Ipsy Glam Bag November 2014

SELF PURCHASED / REFERRAL LINKS

So this month’s theme was Girl Meets Glitter.  With a bag theme as such I kind of expected a lot more glitter products, but honestly, the only true glitter product I got was the makeup bag.  I’ll be honest, it is one of my favorite makeup bags from Ipsy in the five years I’ve been subscribed.  This month’s bag really surprised me much more than I had expected it to.  I had seen sneak peaks of the bag but honestly wasn’t too excited since I seen perfume was included (which usually means Ipsy will send my bag Parcel Post due to hasmat) and my bag can take up to 6 weeks to arrive to me.  I also already own a J.Cat Wonder lip Paint in the same color, so I knew that there were a few items I was not looking forward to.  However, my bag arrived in pretty good time and I actually do like the items I received, minus the lip paint which will be handed over to my lil sis to take advantage of since I already own one.

Check out my video reveal posted below or click here to watch directly on YouTube.

This month’s products included a variety of makeup, skin care & fragrance.  I would have loved it if I could have tried some of the other products that were included in this month’s bag like Forever21, Be Delectable from Cake Beauty, IT Cosmetics (especially since I have never tried IT before) or any of the others.  I have received products from J.Cat several times in my Ipsy bag as well as Be A Bombshell and Demeter, so I really felt that this bag didn’t offer me the chance to try anything new.

Ipsy Glam Bag November 2014

Products included:

Overall price of this bag is about $44.00 which is not bad considering that Ipsy costs only $10 a month for the subscription.

Ipsy Glam Bag November 2014

  • SeaRX Beauty Microdermabrasion & Body Scrub – this product while super cute in its little tube is not something I’ll make use of simply because I have to be careful of microdermabrasion products on my sensitive skin.  It’s a white cream like product.
  • Be A Bombshell Eye Base in Submissive this product swatched a really pretty golden bronze shade.  It’s a gorgeous shade but after blending it out I felt like it had a lot of slip and did not have that set texture like you would get from a color tattoo from Maybelline.  It didn’t seem to dry or set in place so I am not sure how it would work as a base or all over shade without creasing.
  • Demeter Roll on Oil in Pixie Dust This scent is very interesting.  On the site, Demeter states that they do not know what Pixie Dust smells like, but they know it should smell like fruity, sugary and airy.  They also used reference to Disney’s version of Peter Pan… as Tink moves she is trailed by small amounts of pixie dust.  “Think Happy Thoughts”.  As many of you know – I’m a huge fairy lover… and this would remind me of Pixie dust and fairies… an almost light vanilla sugar scent with soft hints of fruit definitely explain it.  I really enjoy this and would consider purchasing more.
  • J.Cat Wonder Lip Paint in Red Potion Seeing as I already own this shade, it’s obvious I do like it.  I have a review coming soon on these lippies (I know I have been promising it for a long while now), but if you are one that loves rich red and burgundy shades especially this time of year… I suggest this.  Apply with a doe foot applicator for the best application.
  • Tarte Maracuja Oil It’s not secret that I am a lover of oils for skin care… and having only tried a little of this stuff, I really do enjoy it.  I’ll have a full review of it once I get more use out of it.

While I know that Ipsy can be a bit up and down each month when it comes to what I get, I’m pretty impressed with this month’s bag.  I wish I would have gotten a few different things, but majority of what I got I am sure I can make use of.  At the end of the day – I think the Maracuja Oil, Demeter Fragrance and the bag definitely make up for the things I am not too stoked about.  Do you have Ipsy?  What subscription bags or services are you signed up for?  Interested in signing up for Ipsy?  Check out my link below.

As you can see – the box was filled with a bunch of awesome goodies.

Paddywax Candle

The Paddywax Ocean Tide + Sea Salt Mini Jar Candle ($10) smells like a beautiful sea breeze in a jar.  Fragrance notes of sea salt and the ocean tide, this soy-wax candle brings the beach directly to you.  I love the scent… it is subtle but you still get an awesome fragrance from it.  The packaging is awesome and reminds me of sea glass. When I use up the candle, I will be saving the jar for little knick-knacks or to make my own little candle DIY.  www.paddywax.com

thinkThin brownie crunch high protein bar

The thinkThin Brownie Crunch High Protein Bar didn’t last long.  After snapping the photo, I ate it in a quick jiffy.  This was a special extra in the box this month and I really did enjoy it.  It has a nice chocolate taste and is 20g of Protein, 0g of Sugar and great for on the go or after a work out for a quick snack.

Kendra Scott Elisa necklace

Next in the box was the Kendra Scott Elisa Necklace in Black Cat’s Eye ($50).  I was very excited to get this necklace because those that know me, know I’m big on natural minerals and stones, crystals and such and this will be a great addition to my growing jewelry collection.  It’s set in 14k gold over brass, and I love Gold jewelry and it has a gorgeous black oval stone that is classic and timeless. This is the first and only piece I own from Kendra Scott so I’m very proud to have this in this month’s box.  This piece alone pays for the entire box and then some… so the rest of the goodies included are actually extra goodies. www.kendrascott.com

Goodbyn Purple Meal and Dipper Set

The Goodbyn Purple Meal & Dipper Set ($8.00) Now – this next item is awesome for me and I’m super excited to get it.  First off… it’s purple, yes… praise the purple loving Gods… it’s purple.  Then it is an awesome way to keep track of meal portions and is a great portable way for me to travel with a meal when I’m on the go.  I’m so busy sometimes, I skip out on a meal because I just don’t have the time, but this will really give me the option to pack something to eat ahead of time and be on my way.   www.goodbyn.com

Mason Jar Cookie Company

The Mason Jar Cookie Company Celebrate! Cookie Mix ($12) Being a mommy of boys, goodies are essential and I’m always looking to add new treats to our foodie line-up.  We haven’t had the chance to bake these up yet, but know that I will post all about it once I do.  This treat is festive and ready to go – just add butter and an egg and bake it up for a delectable treat.  www.masonjarprovisions.com

Lollia At Last Perfumed Shower Gel

Lollia At Last Perfumed Shower Gel ($22).  I was pretty excited to see this in my box, because I have heard of the brand but have never tried the products before.  It smells really nice, but sadly – my box was a complete mess when it arrived due to the fact that this shower gel leaked everywhere.  It seems like the cap was not tight on the bottle and even after cleaning it up and tightening the cap, it continues to leak.  This shower gel is infused with shea butter and jojoba oil so I’m excited to give it a whirl with what I have left in the bottle.

Bite Beauty Lush Fruit Lip

Ooh La La – the Bite Beauty Lush Fruit Lip in Popsugar was a surprise to me but I was so excited to get it. ($22.00).  I’m a huge fan of the brand and this will be the first lip gloss that I have been able to try.  To celebrate Popsugar’s Must Have’s second birthday, Bite Beauty created this new shade for the occasion and it’s so sweet.  Strawberry, Coconut and avocado oils leave my lips yummy and pink.  www.sephora.com/bite-beauty

Bite Beauty Popsugar

The shade of Popsugar is a tad sheer, but it’s a gorgeous shade nonetheless and I love how it feels on the lips.  A little sticky but not so much that it’s irritating to use.  Definitely a gorgeous color.

Overall – I’m quite impressed with this month’s Popsugar box.  Overall I received a total of $124+ worth of products and all of them in full size.  Each month the Must Have box is $39.95 and includes full size goodies for you to test out.  I love the goodies Popsugar sends out because this particular box is much more lifestyle based, then beauty – so you get a variety of goodies that you can use on yourself or with your family in mind.  Have you tried the Popsugar Must Have box?  If not – is this something you may be interested in?  If you have, what are your thoughts?  Popsugar is a great way to try out some new things, click here to learn more about it.
