It’s no secret that I’m not really a huge gloss fan. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that I think they are ugly or anything – it’s just that I have long hair that ALWAYS gets stuck to my lips and I’m not a fan of the sticky icky… ya know? So, when I find a gloss that is not only gorgeous but also isn’t sticky – I’m a fan… like totally. Jesses Girl is a brand that I’ve loved for a few years now since first trying something from the line about 5 years ago (or so) and I remember seeing the release of these Glow Stix Lip Glosses a year or so back. I honestly thought they looked cool, but didn’t really think it would be something I’d enjoy – until I used them. Today I’m going to share with you my thoughts on these Jesses Girl Glow Stix Lip Glosses… and you can decide if they are something you’ll want to check out too.
Jesses Girl Glow Stix Lip Glosses are available in three colors and retail for $4.99 (net. wt. – 0.05 oz / 1.5 mL each). These are stunning iridescent, holographic topcoat glosses that feel really really nice on the lips. As I mentioned previously, I’m not a fan of gloss because they tend to be sticky and get caught in my hair – but I found after using these that they are quite comfortable on the lips. I have had these now for over a month and have used them to top my favorite lip colors and have also used them on their own.
The available shades are: Red Dawn, Tangerine and Wicked.
Red Dawn is clear iridescent gloss with an orange hue and a red shift. It is my favorite of the three to top over a pink lipstick shade because it really enhances the lipstick color.
Ingredients: Cholesteryl oleyl carbonate, Cholesteryl chloride, Cholesteryl noanoate, BHT
Tangerine is a clear iridescent gloss with a yellow hue and a green shift. This is a gorgeous color to top pink or nude lipsticks to enhance the color.
Ingredients: Cholesteryl oleyl carbonate, Cholesteryl chloride, Cholesteryl noanoate, BHT
Wicked is the boldest out of the three shades in my opinion. It is a clear iridescent gloss with a green hue and a blue shift. I have been enjoying putting this gloss over red lipsticks or deep fuchsia or berry colors.
Ingredients: Cholesteryl oleyl carbonate, Cholesteryl chloride, Cholesteryl noanoate, BHT
Each shade on my lips was applied with two coats of gloss and minimal blotting so that you could see the color effect that the glosses provided. However, when I use these glosses, I usually will pucker my lips together for a more natural look. The photo below is what my lips look like if I pucker them up and blend and distribute the color much more evenly on my lips. This is how I would wear it on it’s own if used without any base.
These lip glosses, while made and designed to be toppers actually make really nice glosses on their own. They feel comfortable on the lips and while they need to be reapplied after drinking, eating and some talking, they give your lips a gorgeous glossy look with a color hue. I really enjoy wearing them on their own and love that my lips feel moisturized and hydrated when I have them on.
The lip gloss comes with your standard doe foot type of applicator – but I like it, it applies the gloss nicely and I can easily trace the outline of my lips without any issues.
The packaging on these lip glosses is simple but very fun. It’s basic and allows you to see through to the iridescent holographic color inside which I think is super cool. While these shades do not fully glow in the dark, because of the type of colors they are – you can see a hint of them under a black light. I don’t have pictures to show you but I noticed it on accident while at a party – you could see a yellow hue to my lips – I thought it was pretty cool. These lip glosses are obviously not something you would expect to use but once you try them, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how cool they are. I definitely think they are fun and I love using them on their own. They are not kiss proof – which I mentioned before, but they feel so comfortable on the lips that I enjoy using them.
So how about you, do you think you would like these funky glow stix glosses? I think they are fun and definitely worth checking out at that price point. I suggest picking up at least one and having some fun.
You can purchase these beauties at: https://www.jessesgirlcosmetics.com/ or at your local Rite Aid. We don’t have Rite Aid here so I order online and enjoy the affordable and quick shipping.

I think it’s an interesting novelty concept. I don’t think green is particularly flattering in a lip gloss but the others are nice.
hahaha – that green is quite funky 😀 But it’s so cool…. I’ve been having loads of fun with it.
I love the look of these! In the tube, and on the lips. I love the Wicked shade over the pink lipstick.
I love it on top of your pink lipstick!!!!!
These are so pretty and will change up a lipstick so nicely.
How pretty are these? I like the Wicked over pink. 😀
I’m not a lip gloss person either, but I’ve been debating over using some of the sparklier ones as toppers, particularly over those flat matte liquid lippies. Wicked, for instance, would look great over several of the ones I have.
These look like they could be so much fun. I love how they can transform lipstick.
These are so fun!
These are awesome. I have them somewhere – need to find them – so I can put them over EVERYTHING! <3
haha, girl, yes.
I love glosses like this. So gorgeous! I have to ask – approximately how long is the wear time? I tried a similar product from Inglot and it didn’t even last 15 minutes.
I actually had approximately 2-3 hours of wear (the color does fade and leaves the lips mainly glossy with a hint of sheen though), but that is without eating and drinking. I do keep it on me to reapply because it’s so moisturizing without being sticky. 🙂
I really like how it looks as a topper!
I agree.
I have a love-hate relationship with glossy toppers. I love them on others, but I always feel like they don’t look too good on my own lips. These are so dreamy though, that holo trend is on-point 🙂
yes, I completely agree… glossy toppers can make or break an entire lippy look. This trend though… I think it will keep up for a while.
I hear you, nothing sucks as much as lip gloss on a windy day when your hair is down. I want these glosses so bad though, it reminds me of something I had in the mid-’00s that I used up immediately and could never replace because they vanished. We don’t have Rite-Aids either, I’ll have to grab these online.
they are definitely so fun. I love ordering from Jesse’s Girl online… affordable shipping 🙂
These are fun, but I would only use them occasionally and as toppers.
These are so fun! I love Wicked Glow over the pink. I may be hesitant to try something like this from a high-end brand, but I love that it’s available at the Drug Store!!
These are awesome! I’m a gloss hater because long hair, haha. Nothing worse than hair stuck in the gloss, so I know how you feel. I tend to stick to matte lips but I could make an exception for these on occasion.
These are so cute! I love effect glosses.
I agree, these do make nice glosses — and will give just that hint of something fun when you catch the light right. It isn’t anything bam in your face, which makes I can actually get some use out of, lol 🙂
I love how unique these lip glosses are! Red Dawn has to be my favorite!
