If you’ve been here before, then you may have seen sneak peaks and features on our King Charles Cavalier Spaniel named Ikaika. Ikaika in hawaiian means – strong or strength and let me tell you, our pup is none of those… he’s a fun loving, cuddle bug who only wants your affection. We’ve had Ikaika since he was 3 months old and has helped with our healing and grieving since losing our Koa dog, an American Red Nose Pitbull, who died just before Ikaika joined our family. We have had many different types of pets over the years (chameleons, fish, birds, roosters, mice) and like Ikaika, we treat them like they are a part of our family, and that includes mealtime. As a replacement to Ikaika’s dry food, we have been giving him Freshpet and it’s quickly becoming a favorite of his (if you can’t tell from the smiles).
Ikaika was the smallest from his litter, so even at 4 years old – he is so tiny and looks and weighs the same as a puppy. We are always on the hunt for good food for our pets and Freshpet came highly recommended from many who have similar situations. In our family – a great homecooked meal is important and my husband and I strive to make sure we do most if not all of our dinners from scratch when we’re able to. Because of this, Freshpet was the ideal choice for our furry buddy because it is just like the home cooked meals we make for our family and Ikaika can get some for him too. Freshpet is an all natural food made with fresh ingredients. It is a refrigerated food that never uses artificial or chemical preservatives or mysterious ingredients like chicken meal.
Mealtime can be a frenzy for any family – especially when you’re busy and in a rush. But, I don’t have to worry about Ikaika’s meals because Freshpet really makes it convenient. Easy to open pouches make quick meal times a snap.
As you can see, Ikaika can hardly contain his excitement for mealtime.
As a family, we plant our own vegetables in our garden and it’s great knowing that the ingredients within Freshpet make a difference for our pet. Vitamins and proteins with high-quality meats, poultry and vegetables are farmed in the United States and I know that our pet gets more nutrients from the ingredients that are within. He is a part of our family and as I feed my husband and sons with fresh ingredients and vegetables, I’m glad I can do the same for our dog.
Because Ikaika is so important to our family, we want to make sure we are feeding him the best. We have included Freshpet in Ikaika’s meals and he absolutely loves it. We were so excited for him when we found out we had the opportunity to try Freshpet for our dog and it has become an important part of Ikaika’s diet.
We think it’s great that we can offer our dog food that is fresh and smells good too. Ikaika loves it and gobbles his food down in a heartbeat and he acts like its his last meal of life – ha ha! We are happy that we can feed him something he enjoys and that is good for him. Besides, you know something is good when you take out the bag from the fridge and hear your dogs paws running against the tile, I think he’s definitely a happy camper with his Freshpet.
So, what type of food do you feed your dog? Do you think that your furry friend would enjoy something new? Our family highly (Ikaika included) definitely recommends Freshpet. You can learn more about Freshpet’s benefits here.
