If you didn’t already know – I am born and raised in Hawaii on the island of Maui. While it’s quite expensive to live here, it’s my island home and I’m proud of it. My families roots and ancestry go back several years and my Great Grandmother was even of 100% Hawaiian ancestry. Because of this, I’m always VERY proud of where I come from and the great things that Hawaii has to offer. The islands are a wonder of talent, many of which come from the music industry. My parents are musicians, so I have definitely seen my fair share of talented song birds and instrument players over the years. One very talented person who comes from my island home of Maui is Anuhea Jenkins and I’m excited to share that she has recently collaborated with one of my favorite cosmetic brands, Cargo Cosmetics. Today I’m going to share with you the You Had Me At Aloha palette – a new and limited edition release. Let’s learn more about it, shall we?
This gorgeous limited edition palette called: You Had Me At Aloha is hawaiian themed with 12 gorgeous shadows. Retailing for just $34.00 this palette includes a very versatile mix of neutral shades and pops of color to create gorgeous and stunning eye looks. Each shade is inspired by Hawaii’s beautiful natural beaches and floral and forest landscapes.
The shades through out the palette are laid out in 3 quads and 6 duos to perfectly coordinate and achieve both day and night looks. I have also been enjoying pairing different colors outside of the coordinated tones (like Kai, Lei, Shaka and Shell) to create my own custom looks. The palette also comes with a versatile dual-ended eye shadow brush that will allow you to apply the color and blend as well as a black pencil eye liner that can be sharpened to complete your entire look.
Shade Descriptions:
- Hula – champagne (shimmer)
- Waikiki – light peach (matte)
- Hapuna – ivory (matte)
- Kona – medium brown (shimmer)
- Shell – light pink pearl (shimmer)
- Shaka – medium pink purple (matte)
- Hibiscus – light yellow (matte)
- Island – peach (shimmer)
- Kai – teal (shimmer)
- Tiki – deep brown (matte)
- Lei – violet (matte)
- Luau – aubergine (shimmer)
I’ve had this palette now for a few weeks (since it was released on Cargo’s website) and I was not only intrigued but very excited to get it when I posted about the collaboration between Cargo and Anuhea last year. When I talked about the collaboration months ago, I had no idea what the products would be or the colors so as soon as I seen it… I fell in love. This particular palette screams “Honey” to me because the colors within are literally those that I use all the time or my favorite and must-have types of shades. But, the fact that Anuhea is a local girl from Maui and signed as Ambassador of one of my favorite brands, really was the icing on the cake for me.
The shimmer shades through out this palette are absolutely stunning and gorgeous and each have a really nice texture. The matte shades definitely wowed me more than I had expected. Perfectly selected to have the mattes you need to create a whole eye look. I am always impressed with the quality of Cargo’s products and I’m amazed they are not hyped up as much as other brands. I have several palettes from Cargo but I think this is my favorite.
“As a Hawaii girl, I’m really proud to share this collaboration with all of you. This beautiful palette is a must have for the makeup lover – especially if you enjoy colors like these. Wearable shades with pops of color to help you create a stunning look.” – Honey
Let’s talk about the packaging… first, how beautiful is this Hawaii themed palette. I think the design on the cover and the gold foiling really add a special touch. For years to come, this will be a palette I will love having in my collection – even if just to hold for sentimental sake because the packing is gorgeous. The colors are all named after places in Hawaii or things about Hawaii which I love. I also love how so many of the colors represent its name perfectly – for example: Kai (which is the teal shimmery shade in the palette) is Ocean in hawaiian. And Hapuna which is a gorgeous location on the island of Hawai’i (Big Island) is a beautiful ivory matte shade which is reminiscent of the location that Hapuna is – tranquil, quaint, a golf resort area and great beaches for surfing. Kona, a medium brown tone represents one of the main towns on the island of Hawai’i is lined with lava rack along the western coast and you’ll find various coffee farms & many historic landmarks on the island there. All of the names of this palette correspond so well with the color it represents.

So, will you be getting your hands on this limited edition beauty? If so, I’d love to hear all about it. While I don’t know Anuhea personally, I feel like I do have a personal connection with her since she is from my island home. I love that everything is neutral except for the pop of blue. Also love the packaging! I didn’t know Cargo had a new palette out. I own pretty much all their palettes and don’t want to miss this one.
