If you know a little about me, then you will know that I am a sucker for red lips. Red lips offer a certain glam and sex appeal without overdoing it. The Holiday season is also my favorite time of year to rock out a red pout. Fall and Winter months truly are my go-to time of year to strut my stuff in a luscious Candy Apple Red Lip.
Now, if you take a peek into my makeup collection I have over 25 different red lipsticks and lip shades. Overkill? Maybe! But, I have a wide range of lip colors to suit all seasons and styles. When I first received BA STAR’s Holiday Red lip pencil in the mail, at first glance it has a kind of gold metallic sheen to the pencil. I had wondered how that would transfer color wise on my lips and wasn’t sure if my lips would look metallic or not. After swatching it on my hand, I noticed that there was no gold sheen transfer and that the red color was just a bold red tone in a matte/gloss form. There was no shimmer, no metallic or no glitter – it had a light glossy look but was completely matte in tone. I couldn’t not wait to get my lips covered in this gorgeous red shade and immediately put it on and tried it out.
BA Star’s Holiday Red lip pencil ($8.75USD) is definitely… The Business. It offers you full color payoff and coverage in just one swipe and application was definitely a breeze since the pencil allowed you to both line your lips as well as apply the color. Like a lot of red lipsticks and lip colors on the market, it did offer a nice stain, so it did give me at least 6-8 hours of wear with minimal reapplying. It is not kiss proof and I did lose some color with some fading, but it was nice to know that I wasn’t going to have red lipstick all over the place. Some of it did transfer onto my straws and glass as well as onto my husband but I was still amazed with the color payoff that was left behind on my lips. This lip pencil is more on the matte side (though it has a soft gloss to it) so if you want glossy lips, be sure to add lip gloss or glaze over for that extra “show stopping” appeal. To sharpen, you must use a dual sided sharpener, one that can sharpen a larger pencil. This gorgeous lip shade is the perfect “Runway” Red.The product includes the following ingredients:
May Contain: Iron Oxides, Ti02,D&C Red 27 D&C Red 30 D&C Red 28
Now – I ranted and raved about the awesome color and pigmentation of this color, but didn’t talk about how moisturizing it is. Being that it lends towards a more matte lip shade, I expected it to be a bit on the drying site, as most matte lip colors are. I was very impressed with how moisturized my lips felt, even after several hours of use and a few reapplications here and there. I have been using this red pencil on it’s own, without a base and just my normal lip balm beneath it and I just love how it feels on my lips. When I first applied it, I thought I felt a slight tingling sensation on my lips initially, but after using the lip pencil on several different occasions, I guess that it was just me because I didn’t feel it again. After application and removing the color, I had expected that my lips would feel a little dry – but that was not the case. This is definitely a great color for long wear since it keeps your lips reasonably hydrated and it’s not drying.
Now, not all reds work well on all skin tones. I know this personally, but I have also assisted many with pairing their skin tone with the right color that works for them. This red pencil is definitely a great color for most skin tones. For lighter complexions, since it is a bright true red, it will definitely lend for “Snow White” status, bringing out the porcelain look in the skin tone and for darker tones like myself, this is a perfect red to use because it doesn’t have orange undertones or overly blue undertones that will make it difficult for some people to wear. I have to say – I’m impressed with BA Stars Holiday Red lip pencil. This is a glam color at its finest and lends to be such an awesome shade to use year round.

I just realized that I posted a few videos and I didn’t follow through with posting them here as well, so I’m playing catch up. This video was posted on October 18th, 2013. 🙂 I unfortunately do not have the names listed of the products I used… but they are all stated in the video. 😉
I’m a little behind on posting this because this week has been seriously CRAY… but I wanted to share anyway. If you have watched my Makeup Palette Collection…
Happy Halloween loves. I have been thinking about my Halloween makeup tutorials for a month now and I accomplished two of them and decided I would remake my Leopard Halloween tutorial that I did in 2011 but add a little more detail to it. Of course, I have improved in drawing my leopard print spots as well. lmao. For this look I wanted it to be easy to create so that you could do this on the fly and still run out for your Halloween festivities. I think I’ll be rocking out something similar this Halloween when I take the boys trick or treating. Be sure to scroll to the bottom to watch the embedded video tutorial to create this look or click here to watch it directly on YouTube.
STYLE & FASHION: To style this look I used a black off the shoulder (slashed) top that I had and a pair of black pants (I’m sorry I didn’t take a photo of my whole outfit). I decided to keep on my regular earrings since the wig I had on pretty much covered my ears. For the neck piece I chose a gorgeous Claudette Necklace in antique gold ($17USD) from Shoplately and Glint & Gleam. It is so “Old World” and screams “Queen” so I knew that it would be an awesome piece for this look.Don’t forget – if you haven’t signed up for Shoplately already, definitely do so using your Facebook account and get a $5.00 shopping credit. 🙂To complete the entire look, I added a chocolate brown wig with bangs (because I thought it gave it all a very sexy look and some leopard ears. Leopard ears are easiest to find this time of year, so keep your eyes out for them to complete your look. If you can’t find them, don’t worry – making them is pretty easy with paper and a headband.
I wanted the makeup to be smokey and sexy. I used the following products to complete the look:

It’s no secret that I have been inspired in one time or another by singers like Billie Holiday, Etta James, Aretha Franklin, Mary Wells, Petula Clark, Skeeter Davis and Doris Day (just to name a few). The ones named sing some of my most favorite songs and I grew up around listening to their music. So when I was in search for an iconic look that I could recreate… I thought back to the looks from those common eras. What stood out to me most was Billie Holiday’s flawless, effortless looks.
To create this look, I knew I had to use a glamorous approach to it. A simple blend of neutrals with a cat eye and a bold lip is what I knew would be best to pull it off. Of course, I needed to add some gorgeous florals and some kick ass accessories to complete the look.
My flowers were purchased from a small boutique in Washington DC, I can’t remember the name, but they are handmade and absolutely breathtaking. For my jewelry – I used my simple Pearl necklace from Forever21 and gorgeous White Rose stud earrings set in a gold base from Shoplately(Glint & Gleam $4.00). Pearls are a timeless piece and give such a look class. Paired with these very classy studs – you have a winning look no matter how you want to wear them.

I am a sucker for smoky eyes. And, I especially love it during the Fall and Winter months because it just adds drama to any outfit. But, what I truly love about wearing smoky eyes during Fall and Winter is that you can pair it with rich, deep, berry lips and it will absolutely stop traffic.
I created this look because later that day (in the evening honestly) we were going to the County Fair that only happens once a year. I wanted something that would last all day and that I could use from Day to Night. Honestly, I had this look on from about 10am to about 11am. If you want to see my Makeup Removal routine and one of my night time skin care routines, you can check out that video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UPLvzfG2GWQ I was actually using this makeup look on that night when I filmed that video.
