I can’t seem to figure out why I love pairing jeans with a t-shirt, but it’s a love of mine I can’t seem to overcome.  The great thing about wearing jeans (in any wash, really) is that you can dress it up or down.  Jeans pants are seriously that one staple item in the closet that goes with just about anything.  I’m all about that casual flair and vibe this outfit gives off and while it may not be other’s cup of tea, I’ll rock it.

As a busy mom, I am usually rocking out a messy bun (we call it a tita bun here in Hawaii), shorts and a t-shirt on a daily basis, but I like to take my casualness and turn it up, if even only a notch. lol

Potter what?

As many of you know, I’m a total Potter Head.  No, I’m not talking about the green stuff, I mean Harry Potter, silly… lol.  This tee from the Harry Potter Collection was found at Walmart and was less than $10, so it was not only a bargain, but I fell in love with it.  And, did I mention that it is a 2XL?  It’s nice and slouchy on me (which I enjoy) and it fits, woohoo!  When I wear any of my Harry Potter tees, I’m not sure why but I tend to pair my outfits with my Alex and Ani bracelets.  I think they go well together and just offer great vibes all around.

The Outfit Details

Besides my Harry Potter Hogwarts Alumni Tee, I’m also using Refuge Skinny Jeans from Charlotte Russe in a size 16.  These jeans are super comfy and I love the dark wash of the denim.  They are also high-waisted which is perfect for my tummy area.  To bump up this casual outfit a little more to something dressier and sexier, I added a pair of Hide and Peep Heels in Black from a local store here in Hawaii called Jeans Warehouse. My accessories are quite simplistic (as they usually are) so as I mentioned above I am using my Alex and Ani Bracelets with this outfit.  For my watch, I’m using one of my Invicta Angel’s with a Black Silicone band and to carry all my mommy gear and essentials, I have been using my Coach Backpack.  For sunglasses, I’m using a pretty affordable pair from Zoo York shades.

My Makeup

My makeup was quite simplistic as it usually is.  I’ve been loving a fresh look with just mascara and a lippy lately.  I’ve been also loving the Essence Cosmetics Water Kiss Glossy Lip Colors.  I’m using a blend of Aquatic Chic and Mermaid Diary on my lips.  Of course, for mascara my go-to’s are the L’Oreal Voluminous Base topped with the Essence Cosmetics The False Lash Mascara, Lash Princess and Volume Stylist.  Can you see a trend here?  I really am a HUGE fan of Essence and I’m so glad that we have an Ulta here now so I can actually buy their products on island.  For my brows, I’m using the Beauty Junkees Tinted Brow Gel (another go-to).

Let me be real with you all for a second… when asked, “What is your no makeup makeup look?”  I’ll straight up answer you with… “Um, no makeup – at all!”

But, It’s absolutely no secret that my every day makeup look (if I am using any makeup that is) is mascara and a lippy and on most days.  Since I really do not use makeup, but I want to add a little sexy to the mix, I’ll pull out my big guns, my heavy hitters… my HG products.  So today, in collaboration with a few gals from the Beauty Blogger Collab, I’m bringing to you my “no makeup” makeup look.  This is what I put on when I need a little swag in my look, but still want minimal makeup.  Of course, like I mentioned earlier – if you are looking for a look with literally no makeup, well – that works too 🙂

All About The Summer Glow, No Makeup - Makeup Look http://honeygirlsworld.com

So let’s chit chat a little about what my no-makeup makeup look is.  I definitely want to look polished and put together and it all starts with great skin and my skin care regime.  To give me that fresh dewy look that I love, I make sure to cleanse, add my favorite serums like Hyaluronic Acid and Anti-Wrinkle serum and then finish with a great moisturizer.  These products alone give me a natural glow and really freshen up my face and my look.  It’s essential that I do this each day to keep a youthful appearance.

My basic and daily makeup products for me are mascara and lip balm so mascara and a lippy of choice is a definite must have.  My lashes are really short, so if I have clear eye lash glue on hand, I’ll slap on a pair of flirty false lashes, but today I opted for a few coats of mascara to help open up my eyes.  Since I have my eyeliner tattooed, adding mascara to my lashes not only opens my eyes more but also enhances my tattooed liner and makes my lash line look fuller.  My lips are another thing… if I am not pulling for a colored lip balm, I’m reaching for my favorite nude lippies to help enhance my pout.  Usually my no-makeup look would stop there, but if I want to add a little something extra, I’ll add a blush, highlight and a light contour.  Applying these with a light hand are key to get that sunkissed and radiant look that adds a little to your makeup but keeps them guessing if you have anything on.

Here are the products I used on my look today:

  • Brows – For my brows, since they are shaped fairly well and are full, I used my NYX Control Freak Eye Brow Gel.  (Review here)  I swept this product over my brows to set them in place for the day.
  • Lashes – Since I have short lashes, I like to layer certain mascaras to make my lashes stand out without false eyelashes.  Today I used my Covergirl Super Sizer mascara layered with Benefit’s Roller Lash.  These two lashes paired together help to give me some length and volume without looking spidery or clumpy.
  • Lips – One of my absolute go-to lippies for an “every day” or no-makeup look is MAC’s High Tea.  This lipstick is the perfect nude with a gloss texture and offers the perfect color to compliment my pout.
  • Bronzer – To add a little warmth, a light bronze and some subtle contouring I used Laura Geller’s Bronze-n-Brighten Baked Color Correcting Bronzer in medium.  Using a domed bronzing brush I light dust this all over the areas I want to give a subtle bronze look.  It’s not about contouring but more about a light definition.
  • Blush & Highlight – For a little color to my cheeks and a soft highlight I used my Laura Geller Blush-N-Brighten in Como.  This combination has a blend of pink and gold to offer the perfect amount of color to your cheeks and a gorgeous peach gold highlight so the sun looks like it is perfectly kisses your cheeks.  With a fluffy brush I lightly dust this on the applies of my cheeks and blend onto my cheek bone.
  • Set your makeup – To set and put that nice dewy look back into my face, I spritz on one of my favorite facial sprays.  Today I used my Evian Mineral Water Spray.  Since it is warm, this is perfect to cool me down but also give my makeup that effortless, no-makeup look.

All About The Summer Glow, No Makeup - Makeup Look http://honeygirlsworld.com

My normal “no-makeup” makeup look is pretty easy and simple to create but it puts a little pep in my step and still gives me that “put together” look without using too much.  If I go with a basic look (mascara and lippy) or add a little blush, bronze & highlight – it’s something you can definitely see me rocking out most of the time.  If I were asked what my go-to look for Summer is, this is it.

So what are your favorite go-to’s to create that “no-makeup”?  When I say “no makeup” I mean it, but sometimes we could use a little style and flair to our look, don’t you think?  Be sure to stop by and check out the links below for the no-makeup makeup looks of the lovely ladies from the Beauty Blogger Collab.

“Forever & Always!”

Oh Fall… where are you?  Maui is super hot and humid and man I would love some cool chilled air my way, but it just hasn’t been so lately.  It was so warm today that a tank and shorts was on my outfit list… less is better, right? (did I just say that? lol)  So here is my Plus Sized Outfit of the Day…

OOTD Old Navy

You know in Hawaii we rock out flip flops like they are about to be discontinued, lol.  So here is my super quick outfit for going out and tackling Costco with my three sons.  Overall I have to say it was a fun day… we picked up my lil sis and spent a few hours with her while we tackled some errands… overall, I consider it a WIN.

  • Top – Love is Forever Graphic Tank from Old Navy
  • Bottoms – Denim Bermudas/Cut offs from Torrid
  • Flip flops – Guess
  • Watch – Invicta
  • Sunglasses – Maui Jim
  • Necklace – And I always get a lot of questions about my Teddy Bear Necklace.  Sadly I don’t know where it is from, my husband bought me this pendant before we had children, over 10 years ago.  I have heard that some jewelers carry it – but I have not seen it at local stores.

OOTD Old Navy

For my makeup today… I really was aiming to bring Fall into my life, even if it meant I had to do my makeup like Fall was in full swing. lol I also have had my Tamanna palette now for a couple of weeks and each opportunity I have I try to play with new shade combinations and had a few in mind I wanted to pair today. Since I only really wear makeup once a week, I was sure gonna make sure to get some makeup lovin’ in.

No face makeup today… did I mention it was hot? Yup, that means no blush, bronzer… na da… too hot. lol

FOTD Tamanna Palette

I’ve been working on a review for the Tamanna palette, and hope to have it up soon since I see that it is still available.  It drives me nuts when things are limited edition and I have to run out and get them because I just have to have it, but that also means that by the time I have had it long enough for me to actually state my thoughts on the product… I don’t get around to it.  Ooh – and on another note… have you seen my hair?  I know these pictures don’t show it well, but I went dark again… I’m actually really diggin’ it.

This plus sized girl was all about comfort and cool today.  I have been loving the Old Navy Tees and Tanks that they have been releasing lately and I’m all about a graphic tee if it means I can be comfortable.  I love those types of shirts for underneath my slouchy sweaters especially… now if Fall can just make its way here so I can start using them. lol  Wishing you all a wonderful Aloha Friday and a kick ass weekend.

Smooches.

Well I think bold colorful looks are gorgeous, it is not something I would wear often… but that doesn’t stop me from rockin’ it out if I do.  This week for Tutorial Tuesday I wanted to do a Tropical Paradise Makeup Tutorial inspired by bright, bold, summery shades that look almost neon.  This makeup look is definitely easier to achieve than you would think and while it’s definitely not an every day look – it’s bright and cheerful for these warm summer days.  I hope you enjoy my Tropical Paradise Makeup Tutorial, rainbow eyeshadow featuring BA Star and BH Cosmetics.

I don’t often plan my makeup looks – especially if I am going to do a tutorial on the look… so this particular makeup look was no exception.  I knew what makeup products I had intended to use for the eyes, so I decided when I created my first eye (before filming) that I would just throw the colors together and see how it turned out.  To be honest, I didn’t expect the colors to be as vibrant as they turned out – both from the BA Star Tropical Palette as well as the BH Eyes on the 60s Palette… because I haven’t really used more than a color or two from each palette.  To say I was impressed would be an understatement.

Check out my video tutorial on how I created this eye look by scrolling down and watching the embedded video below or click here to watch directly on YouTube.

I am very happy with how this look came out and it reminded me how much I miss creating colorful and bold looks.  While these palettes are affordable, they both pack a huge punch in color… and it goes to show – you can certainly create a look using something cheaper than high end brands.  I had a friend ask me about my thoughts on the Urban Decay Electric Palette, which I do not own.  While I would love to be able to swatch that palette up and create some looks, I think these palettes I used to create the looks I did – well, they certainly give those higher end brands a little competition.  I’ll have my review for the BA Star Tropical Palette up soon and maybe just maybe… I’ll do one on the BH Cosmetics Eyes on the 60s palette too.  I hope you all enjoyed my makeup look for this week.  I’m loving how bold it is and how it turned out.

Happy Summer!

I have had my Too Faced A Few Of My Favorite Things Palette now since Christmas.  I have used it a few times for soft everyday looks – but really wanted to create something that had a little bit of drama, but that was still wearable for someone who wanted to use it during the day or out and about.  This look utilizes some of my favorite colors in this palette and I love how easy the colors are to blend.  I named this look Honey Bella Rosa because my middle name is Rosa and the name of the Blush I chose is name Bella Rosa.  Since Bella Rosa means beautiful rose… I thought… “Honey Beautiful Rose” would be sweet.  Those that know me know that Lavender Sterling Roses are my favorite that my husband orders for me… and this look reminded me of these gorgeous roses.  I hope you enjoy the look! <3Honey Bella Rosa Makeup tutorial - Too Faced A Few of My Favorite Things

  • Brows – Cailyn Gelux Brow in Cocoa set with NYX Brow set gel
  • Cupid’s Bow highlight – Benefit Wats Up

Note:  I always apply my lip butter or balm prior to doing the tutorial so that it moisturizes my lips before hand and my lipstick/gloss/liner application will go on smoothly.  Applying just before applying your lip products can cause your lips to be too slippery for your lip products to adhere and can cause movement or feathering.  If your lip balm/butter is still to slippery – blot your lips prior to applying your lipstick, etc.

As you see in the tutorial – I did not and do not use Face Primer or Foundation and concealer.  If I do use any of these products I’ll be sure to list them – but I have discontinued the use of these products since it has not been good for my sensitive skin.  I haven’t really used Foundation/Concealer in over 2 years.
