Everyone wants to have a happier, less stressful life. But, that doesn’t mean all of them know what they’re doing. You could want to have a better life but struggle with getting there. As natural as that is, it doesn’t have to be nearly as difficult to get out of as you could’ve thought.
More than a few steps and lifestyle tips could have an impact on this. There’s no reason why a few of them shouldn’t help you feel happier and happier as time goes on. Four of them could end up helping a whole lot more than you would’ve thought.
Think Good Thoughts for Others
How you think of others can often end up having more of an impact on your other thoughts than you might’ve thought. If you think negative about someone, your thoughts will become overly negative whenever you think about or see them, ruining your mood.
By thinking good thoughts towards others, however, you reframe your mindset and encourage your brain to think more and more positively. It’ll end up helping you feeling happier, and better, as time goes on.
Manage Your Anxiety
Stress can often turn into anxiety as time goes on, especially when it’s not properly dealt with. It’s always worth putting the time and effort into managing your anxiety as much as you can. While this seems complicated, it doesn’t always need to be.
Sometimes, it could be as simple as trying anxiety relief with CBD + THC, doing a bit of yoga every day, or even going for a short walk. There’s no reason why it should have to take a lot of time and effort to help get your anxiety under control.
Get Enough Sleep
Sleep is vital to making sure you feel as great as possible every day, and it affects both your physical and mental health. If you’re not getting enough of it every night, you’ll end up feeling worse and worse as time goes on, feeling stressed, exhausted, and more.
Nobody wants that to happen. Put the effort into creating a nighttime routine that actually helps you drift off when you want to sleep. This could mean making a few adjustments, but it’ll be more than worth it once you’re sleeping enough every night.
Be With Good People
The people you have around you play a major role in how you feel. Make sure they’re the best possible people to surround yourself with. That way, you should end up having a strong social circle and support group you know you can rely on.
For a few people, this could end up meaning cutting off those that aren’t good for you. While this can be a bit of an awkward process, it should end up being the best one for you so you can actually be happy moving forward.
By focusing on the right steps, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t have a happier, less stressful life. It’ll take a little work, but there’s no reason why you shouldn’t get there. What steps do you take to try to have a happier, less stressful lifestyle?

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”
Theodor Seuss Geisel was born on March 2, 1904 in Springfield, Massachusetts. To think that he would 110 years old today, well – that is just amazing. I’m sure he would be absolutely proud to see that his works and rhymes are still so relevant today was it was back then. By the time Dr. Seuss died in 1991, he had produced more than 60 children’s books – many of which I have read as a child and continue to read to my children till this day.
Dr. Seuss’ first children’s book – “And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street”, was published in 1937 and thereafter his popular best sellers like The Cat in the Hat and Green Eggs and Ham became household names.
“Today you are you! That is truer than true! There is no one alive who is you-er than you!”
Today is what we know in the Nation and Worldwide as Dr. Seuss Day – to not only celebrate this great writer but his birthday. I figured it would be a great time to share a quote or two of his that are some of my favorites.
Have a wonderful Thursday!

I absolutely love the Holiday Season and to me, the Christmas season means much more than just presents, snow and jingle bells. I love that Christmas allows us to share in giving but also in celebrating our Savior and his love. I don’t often talk about Religion here on Honeygirl’s World, and I’m a wholehearted believer that no matter your religion, believing is seeing!
#LightTheWorld
There are several things you can do to offer service this Christmas Season. Like I said before, regardless of your religion belief, you have the ability to serve others. Each year my family and I work together to help serve those in need – no matter what time of year, but especially during the holiday season. I would like to share 10 ways that you can lift others burdens – ways that you and your family can part-take in.
Remember that you never know the struggle a person is dealing with when you come in contact with them. A kind smile, compliment or generosity are great ways of rising someone’s spirits while making them feel great about them self.
Donate food like canned goods to your local food bank. My sons and I always take a list of canned goods and suggestions with us while shopping and pick up a few extras to deliver to the food bank.
Adopt a family this holiday season. Each year my family and I select a name from the “Angel Tree” and purchase gifts on the family’s holiday wishlist.
Donate your gently used items like household goods, clothing, blankets and more to your community homeless shelter. Winter is the coldest time of year and sometimes a warm blanket, jacket and socks can make a huge difference in someones life.
Make a meal for a family member or friend who may be ill, down on their luck or overworked. Or – donate the meal to the soup or homeless kitchen for holiday service.
Help a neighbor who is elderly by collecting their recyclables, trash, etc. so that they do not have to get into the cold and take care of it.
Write letters or send holiday cards to service members, sending them holiday cheer as they serve our country and are aware from their families and friends.
Sing and carol around your local neighborhood to bring holiday cheer.
Help a friend in need. Assist a friend who may need help, a ride, a meal or anything and make sure you follow through and see it to the end. Sometimes all your friend may need is kind wishes and a prayer, but knowing that someone is rooting for them means everything.
Head on over to mormon.org for a list of ways that you can make a difference and don’t forget to #LightTheWorld
I can’t stress this enough, no matter what religion we believe in – together, we can all work together and help to light the world with Christ’s love and a commitment to serve. In 25 days and 25 ways we can offer those around us action and service inspired by Christ and Light The World around us.
Happy Holidays!

What is Gal-Entine’s Day? Celebrating Your Girlfriends on Gal-entine’s Day
Celebrating any holiday is much more fun with our Gal Pals. So what is Gal-entine’s Day? Well, it’s basically a time when we as besties gather together with our gals and have a great celebration of friendship. There’s no need to compare our love trials and tribulations… we all just get together to chit chat and have fun before Valentine’s Day and celebrate the bond we have between friends. Traditionally celebrated on February 13th (the day before Valentine’s Day), this special day is meant to be fun and a way to not only reconnect with our besties, but to have a little fun. So – get on the phone, social media and start texting your girlfriends for a day or evening of laughs, fun and excitement to celebrate your friendships. Wondering what you can do on this Gal-entine’s Day? Well, read on to get a little inspiration!
Gifts? Presents? What do you get for your bestie on Galentine’s Day?
Well, giving your gal pals a little token of your friendship is sweet and perfect for a day like this. I tend to like to create a little DIY or have something made specifically for my girlfriends. You can opt to create a friendship bracelet (yes, those are still cool and not only for pre-teens) or even bake something sweet. Get the gals something that can be personalized like a locket or something that will remind you of your childhood.
DIY – Fun Projects for the Girls
DIY products can be fun to do when you’re with a bunch of friends. I tend to have a ton of supplies for all kinds of goodies laying around my house in my craft bins, so anything can make for a great product. Something my sister and I used to do a lot is create candles or soap to give as gifts or to display in our bathrooms and we had so much fun making and using these products. Bath bombs are fun too or a really easy sugar scrub in cute decorated jars make wonderful creations. Have fun and let your ideas soar. It’s not only something to do with your friends, but it’s memento they can take with them when the night is done.
Netflix Anyone?
Am I the only person that enjoys shows like Criminal Minds, Empire or Orange Is The New Black? Well, why not gather around the tube (television since most people now have flat screens) and binge watch some of your favorite shows with your gal pals. Order pizza or make a quick Pull Apart Pizza (recipe here) and indulge in some gorgeous chocolate berries from Shari’s Berries. Not into my flick choices? Well, choose some of your faves or rock out to Pitch Perfect and have a mini Aca-session with your gals.
Karaoke
If you know me, then you know this is not something I take part in often. I’m the only person in my family that is tone deaf and because of it, no one wants to hear me sing… lol. But, Karaoke evenings are fun and I have enjoyed taking part in them. Either pull out your Karaoke machine you have stored away or head over to your local Karaoke Bar and have some fun. Sing to your favorite tunes and enjoy the night with some appetizers or finger foods (pizza works – can you tell that’s my favorite food) or delightful desserts. Belt your heart out to your favorite tunes and have a party.
Paint ’N Wine Event
There are a few locally owned places on island where I live that offer a paint event (sometimes a little wine) that you can take part in. These cool events allow you and your friends to go and get a very awesome painting instructional class from an artist/teacher and allow you to create the masterpiece yourself. While there you have the chance to have a little wine and talk story all while having a great time. Note that if you take part in these, make sure you have a designated driver accompany you or pick you up from the venue as it can be a lot of fun. You can take the painting home after and remember your night with your girls. If painting and wine are not your thing, see what kind of “tasting” events are available. A local restaurant here offers a Tea Time event once a week where you drink tea and have a light brunch under the trees in a beautiful courtyard. It’s gorgeous and so much fun .
Makeover Madness
Ah, as a beauty and makeup lover, I knew I had to include this. A day of pampering is always fun. Gather your gal pals and pull out your favorite makeup, skin care items and mani pedi favorites and do a little pampering. If you have a local Mary Kay representative or an Avon rep, contact them to see if they would like to do makeovers while sharing their products with your gals. Since I have a makeup artist kit, I tend to pull those out and just make it a fun activity for everyone. I may do smoky eyes on all the girls (something they are not used to) or do a full pedicure and manicure on each. All of this fun while eating and drinking and dancing to your favorite songs. It’s like a sleepover without sleeping – just old school fun. I also like to up together little bags of treats for each friend – including a nail file, some chocolates of course, and anything beauty related. ELF offers some good makeup for a $1.00 and you can stuff a bunch of treat bags with things that you love and know they will love too. Looking for fun ideas on makeup looks to create? Head on over to my Valentine’s Day Playlist on YouTube and get a little inspired.
Don’t leave out your Far Away Besties
I don’t know about you, but I have friends all over the World and many of them live hours away from me let alone a whole continent. While they live so far away, I still want to let them know that I’m always thinking of them. A sweet card that comes with something special or a handmade sentiment is always a great thing. It will be great if it gets to her on February 13th so she checks her mail box and is surprised. Also, with technology now a days, there are many ways to communicate face to face without being there in person so Skype and have a chat to catch up. This is the perfect opportunity to talk about your Valentine’s Day plans and to share that new outfit you bought for the special occasion.
Who’s Up For A Girl’s Trip?
Living on an island really doesn’t help much for road trips here, but what is so great is that Hawaii is filled with so many awesome destinations that it’s easy to find sanctuary anywhere. If you and your friends are riding the single train for now, hey – what better time than to plan a girl’s weekend trip. Head to your favorite resort and spend the weekend at the pool or at the spa and just rejuvenate your body for the following Monday. Not single? Well, that doesn’t mean you can’t do this too… take a drive to wine country (here on Maui, we can head up to Tedeschi Vineyards) and have a wine tasting and then breakfast at Kula Lodge. The options are endless whether you live on Maui or are anywhere in the World. Sometimes a weekend getaway with your gal pals are the perfect way to really relax and rejuvenate the soul. And, what better way to have some relaxation than with your besties.
Day Trip to Buy Makeup
This may sound like an odd one… but since our local Sephora is a two hour drive away, my sisters and I have a tradition where we drive together (all three of us) and take a trip to the other side of the island to go shopping at our local Sephora. This gives us about 4 – 6 hours of time with one another (sometimes longer) and we get to chit chat makeup, have brunch and just relax and enjoy each others company. Most the time we don’t even buy makeup but spend an hour walking around Sephora chatting about our favorite products and testing out new ones we have yet to try. It’s our time together and we enjoy it.
While Galentine’s Day is February 13th, I think that any time of the year you are feeling like you need a little Gal love is appropriate to do something like this for your girls. Your besties are the ones that see you through every single trial and tribulation, every event and exciting moment. Celebrating with one another and sharing the love you have with each other is a great thing to do all the time, but especially on Galentine’s Day. What are you doing for your gal pals this year? Comment below and share some ideas that you may have!
Did you know there was such thing as a Gal-entine’s Day? If not, how do you plan to make use of this new day each year.

Who am I? Well, it’s obvious that I am a blogger (just call me an editor – lol), Photographer, an art lover and self proclaimed gourmet food aficionado…
We are just a few short days away from Mother’s Day and I can’t help buy reflect on my first Mother’s Day 11 years ago. It seems like the time has flown all too quickly and the minutes of the day just drift away like they are non-existent. Looking back on what I’ve learned and what I’ve accomplished gives me a sense of pride. I always knew I wanted to be a mom, but I never knew how rewarding it would be for me and how much I loved this job with all my heart.
My boys are growing so quickly and I have learned after becoming a mother that sometimes a little acknowledgement, peace of mind and inspiration go a really long way. I wanted to take the time to write a letter to all moms – new, soon to be and those with years of experience. This is my Mother’s Day Gift to you and I hope you enjoy!
Luke, Kevin and Isaiah – 2011
Dear Moms…
1. As much as we wish it would, time stands still for no one and father time ticks and tocks the days and nights away. While our days may be filled with challenges, they may also be filled with laughter and delight. Take the time each day to stop and think about the things you are grateful for. I keep a gratitude journal specifically for this reason. It allows me to reflect back on other days and remember the memories that we often times soon forget. Remember that each day is filled with some form of happiness… there is always sunlight at the end of a storm.
2. It’s okay to want a little “me” time. I’m still trying to grasp the concept myself, but at least now I have accepted that wanting some time to myself does not mean that I don’t love my children. It just means that I need a break sometimes. Even if this means you are gonna vegetate in front of the computer, online window shop and have a glass of Vino… so long as it gives you a moment to yourself – hey, that’s great.
Kevin 2008
3. Don’t feel bad about wanting to capture every moment on camera. Your children will thank you later, trust me. My three sons grew up in front of a camera and I snapped away at every moment and tried to capture as many memories as possible. Even with a camera attached at the hip, I found that some of their earlier years were missed because I was caught up doing other things. It’s okay to stop and tell someone you need to take a photo, it’s okay to capture the moment for your memories. Snap away and always have a camera on hand. You don’t want to look back at the past and realize you missed something because you were too busy with something else.
4. Each parent has their own set of advice for new or soon to be mommies. It can be difficult to hear sometimes and I know that I struggled with this (still do), for a long time. If it’s something you can use in your life as a momma, then incorporate it into your own. If you can’t use, do not worry – just move on and thank the person who gave it to you. Parents sometimes forget that each child is their own individual and what might work for one child, certainly will not work for another. Do not feel obligated to make someone’s advice work for you – even if they say it will and you know it won’t.
Luke 2010
5. This one might only pertain to moms of twinnies… but needless to say, it had to be said. Please please do not tell a mom of twins (new or otherwise), that you know exactly what they are going through because your children are just 10 months or a year or so apart. IT IS NOT THE SAME. I won’t tell you how many verbal arguments I have gotten into with parents over this. Having two children exactly the same age (twins) is not the same as having a child just a year older. By the time you have your second child (or the child born a year after), your first child is already starting to feed themselves, talking, walking, etc. It is not the same experience as two infants or children the same age. Many can argue the fact, but as a mother of twins, it was absolutely difficult for me to deal with and it was the cause of MANY arguments with other people. Does that mean that you are less than I because I am a mother of twins – OF COURSE NOT, but they are not a comparison or similarity by any means.
6. It’s okay to splurge on yourself once in a while. I’m pretty lucky in that I have a husband that consistently reminds me that it’s time to buy myself something nice, otherwise, it goes on the back burner and I completely forget. Choose out something from your wishlist and if you can swing it, get it. Ask your hubby for a Sephora Gift Card (hint hint) and pick up that new perfume or lipstick you’ve been eyeing. The choices are endless and I want moms to know that it’s okay to want to spoil yourself once in a while. It’s too often that we forget about ourselves and are always thinking about others, so it’s okay to have a little treat now and then.
Isaiah – 2010
7. A child’s smile can warm your heart. But, don’t let that fool you… that doesn’t mean you have to give-in and give them anything and everything they want. Sometimes structure is key and I know it has been very essential in raising my children. There are many out there that will say you are being too harsh… but don’t let them affect how your raise your child. They are your children after all – not your aunts, sisters, mothers, brother from another mother… they are your children and you set the rules.
8. Your are a strong woman! It takes more than just physical strength to handle the job of a mom. You are not only strong physically and mentally, you are courageous, creative and a complete genius. Don’t let anyone else tell you otherwise!
9. Before having your first child, no one ever tells you that it is a 365 day a year job, no days off, no weekends – no holidays… no pay. lol We don’t get a lunch break, no vacation time off and there is no worker’s comp either. It has made me appreciate my mom more after having children. While I knew that my mom was a very hard worker and she kept our family afloat, I truly had no idea what it was like until I stepped into this role. My mom also made it all work with less than half of what my family has financially. My siblings and I are all healthy and grown up and I am proud to have learned so much from my own mom.
10. This is an important one! After having children, sometimes we lose that sense of sexy. I know after having my boys, I gained twice my weight and I was not feeling very pretty. Gaining weight after childbirth is not the only thing that makes us not feel beautiful. Emotions are running wild, we’re tired, we don’t want to put makeup on and pajamas are our best friend. All these things add up to feeling frumpy and blue and that doesn’t even include the women who suffer from postpartum as I did. When someone pays you a compliment, believe them. For a long time my husband would tell me how beautiful I was and I thought to myself… “what’s wrong with this man? Who in the world is he looking at?” I still think that way sometimes. But when your husband tells you are your beautiful – believe him. This is not an easy concept for many and sometimes we just don’t feel beautiful. But beauty is much more than looks and a woman who can survive on two hours of sleep and no food in their belly and still be able to cook a whole meal for the house, pay the bills and make sure each child is happy and healthy – well… she has a beauty within that most only dream of having.
So, at the end of the day – we are here on this Earth because of our Mothers… well, our Dads too. Most of us are who we are because of these women and those who are mothers, well – we are strong, stealth ninjas with a heart of gold. At the end of the day, our lives are no longer our own and times can be tough, but there is one thing I know about being a mom… it is the BEST, MOST REWARDING JOB IN THE WORLD and I wouldn’t give it up for anything.
To all the mommies out there, new, soon to be and those that are experienced just know that YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL! Wishing you all a wonderful Mother’s Day!
Here in Hawaii, May 1st is called Lei Day. It’s a popular tradition here in our State that on Lei Day, most elementary schools will celebrate their May…
