Love is…

Watching a movie on Netflix over and over and over again so many times that you can quote each line, sing each song and play out the scenes in your mind without watching a minute of it – because it’s your children’s favorite movie.

Stuffing your bag with chocolate snacks – even if you know that it will melt, because it is your child’s favorite goodie and you want to be able to treat them.

Missing out on Grey’s Anatomy week after week and having to catch up on old episodes after the season ends so that your family can watch their favorite shows.

Stepping on Legos to get to the kitchen, bedroom or anywhere in the house (if you have children with legos, you will feel for me on this), because they have them all spread out to build their giant creation and you can’t mess up a thing because they are all separated to ensure easy building. lol

Standing at the bathroom door while one of your twins uses the restroom during the night because he is afraid of walking in the hallway at night.

Asking the restaurant to remove the pickles and onions from a sandwich because your husband and sons are not fond of them.

Picking up Tin Roof Sundae Ice Cream in bulk when it is on sale because it is my husband’s favorite and it is not always in stock.

Knowing someone so well that you are empty when they are not around and you can finish each others sentences without hesitation.

Giving up your bed and husband to your children because they want to cuddle with daddy.

Running to the store to pick up supplies for your homemade mac and cheese – even when you know nothing is on sale and you will spend 10x as much on it now then if you waited a week.  But hey – it’s the kids favorite.

Smiles, Giggles, Snuggles and Holding Hands!  It’s about compassion, support and compromise.  Love is about Family, commitment and honesty.  Give and Take, pain and healing, sadness and happiness.  Love is what keeps me going and makes me strong.  My life revolves around love and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I know I haven’t done a post like this in quite a while and I really miss incorporating them into my site.  You may see more of these… but if you made it this far – then thank you so much for sticking around.  Wishing you all a blessed and Wonderful day and weekend.

Makeup Tutorial – Jennifer Lopez Same Girl Music Video Inspired Look

Jennifer Lopez Same Girl Music Video Makeup

I have been a Jennifer Lopez fan for years… from way back in the day when she was a dancer on “In Living Color” (yes, I am that old… and no – you can’t laugh. lol)  Her style has always been one that I have admired and her makeup is always on point.  I have been on pins and needles wanting to do this look.  It was difficult to pull off because I chose the look in the video that you can’t see very well since it is covered under Jennifer’s hat, but I used her look as inspiration and added some extra color to it to create the look I have here.  She had sultry smoky eye that looked like it incorporated a taupe-silver shade.  Since I have been wanting to use my Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette in a tutorial – I chose to use a pink hue with a silver/taupe to create this look.  I am pretty happy with how it came out.

At the end of the day – even if I wanted to use her Makeup in the video as the base for my creation, I really wanted to concentrate on the message that the song portrayed.

Cause in the end, I’m still the SAME GIRL… I don’t owe nobody!

  • Eye Shadow Primer – Too Faced Shadow Insurance
  • Eye Shadow Base:  NYX Eyeshadow Base in Skintone
  • Eyeshadow transition shade: deep brown matte from Smashbox Full Exposure Palette
  • Eyeshadow Lid Shades: Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette (Liar on the inner half of the lid, Mugshot on the outer third of the lid, Blackheart smudged on the lower lash line and to deepen the crease and outer v, Strange used as the highlight and Trick used as the pop of color highlight in the inner corner)
  • Eyeshadow lid shades: TheBalm’s Nudetude Palette – Serious (matte black) used to deepen the outer v
  • Liner: Mally Evercolor Starlight Liner in Midnight – waterline/tightline and lower & upper lash line, Milani Liquif’eye Pencil liner in Black to intensify the liner look – applied to lower and upper lash line
  • Mascara: Perfekt Beauty Lash Perfection Gel applied to upper and lower lashes
  • Lashes: Kiss 01 False Lashes applied with Kiss Glue
  • Contour: Starlooks Cream Blush in Emphasize, NYC Sunny Bronzer and Laura Geller Bronze-n-Brighten in medium
  • Blush & Highlight: Milani Rose Blush in Warm Petals (powder blush) and Laura Geller Baked Highlighter Duo in French Vanilla/Golden Rose
  • Lips:  Milani Colorstatement liner in All Natural and Milani Colorstatement lipstick in Nude Creme

Just a quick note about foundation… I have been asked a few times about my foundation routine.  I haven’t used foundation in 2 years.  I have tried & used it a few times (maybe 3x) in the last 2 years as trials for companies – but I do not wear foundation or primer.  If I do use primer I use the following:  Laura Geller Spackle, Benefit Porefessional or I use my Mally Evercolor Pore Perfection compact to set my makeup.  However, I truly do not use face products like that often and it is rare.  I’ll be touching base on my skincare routine, etc. in the next month.  Stay tuned…

Jennifer Lopez Same Girl Makeup

When I had this look in mind, I wanted to make sure to create a look that would mimic JLo’s perfect bronzed and contour makeup that is always done so effortlessly.  I also loved the fact that she wore a New York Yankees hat (we are Yankees fans in our house), since she is a girl from the Bronx.  Since I am from Hawaii, I wanted to do something similar and rock out a “Maui Built” hat since I am from Maui.  I thought it was a cute interpretation. 🙂

I haven’t been taking very good eye photos lately – but it’s because I just stopped doing them the last few months and I have been focusing more on my overall look.  I’ll be sure to get good ones in future looks, so you can see the detail in the eye makeup.

I hope you all enjoyed this look!  Thank you so much to all of you for your support and love over the last few years through my journey here on my blog and on YouTube.  So many changes have happened over the last year and all for the positive.  So many awesome blessings have also come my way.  This makeup post marks more than just a look I was inspired by in a music video – but it also reminds me of this journey that I am on.  I’ve met so many people – some were awesome and positive influences, others were generating negativity that I had to turn my back on, but everything happens for a reason and I learned that I am a better person because of the experiences I have had.  Thank you to all – I look forward to bringing you more looks, inspiration, my life I love and so much more!

Be In Love with Your AWESOME!

Love Your Life!I am not going to lie… Life has its way of kind of catching you by surprise and swallowing up your insides making it feel like all is lost and difficult.  I went through that on more occasions than I would like to remember… or count – but the last few years, well… they have really shown me a side of life that I am so happy to share with all of you.

A few years ago I had made friends with people who lived to make my life miserable… and because of it, I had forgotten how awesome my life truly was.  From an awesome and supportive (did I mention hawt?) husband and 3 beautiful sons, sometimes the things we love so much, we tend to disregard as the “constants” in our life and forget how important they truly are.  Don’t get me wrong… it’s not that we forget about them, but forget about how they often make us feel… happy, loved, supported and the butterflies that flutter around in our stomachs when we think of them – that’s all real feelings that we tend to cast aside from time to time.  Last year, I made every possible effort to move forward from those terrible people that worked so hard to make me miserable and just cast them aside… leaving me to concentrate on all the things that made me happy.  And, you know what I realized?  I absolutely LOVE MY LIFE!  How many people can say that?  How many people can say that their life is so wonderful (regardless of all the downs and challenges) that they love to live it – so much so that they are “In Love” with their life?  Well, I will admit that the road here was a challenge.  Not necessarily because I hated my life but because I didn’t focus on the things that were so awesome and there is so much greatness in my life right now and there always has been.

So – this post, while long winded has a purpose.  This year – now 2014, I am going to remind myself  how awesome life is, how great of a support system I have and how much I love everything beautiful and I know it will make for an awesome year.  (hmmm… I think I need a thesaurus… a little too much Awesome in this post. lol) Each time you think of a struggle that has you down, think about all the things that make you smile.  When times are tough and you feel like you have hit rock bottom, remember… there are people out there that love you unconditionally.  There is always a positive to any negative and smile to a frown.  Together – let’s make 2014 AWESOME.  So, like Jack Kerouac says… “Be in Love with Your Life, Every minute of it!” and make the best of 2014 and every single day of your existence.  While times are tough, God would never give us anything we cannot handle!

Wishing you all a wonderful 2014 filled with Happiness, Prosperity and Love.  It’s going to be an awesome year – no exceptions!
