I posted on my Instagram a few weeks ago that I would have a review and swatches up of the new L.A. Girl Glazed Lip Paints, but I just didn’t get around to posting it so I’m doing it now.  A few months ago I posted my review and swatches of the original six glazed lip paints which you can read here, and while these little tubes of colors are certainly affordable, that doesn’t take away from how nice they are.  I introduce to you the additional 12 shades that was added to the line about 2 months ago which includes shades that I have been wearing a lot lately.

L.A. Girl Glazed Lip Paints

I’ve been enjoying myself with all the shades and love that they are easily layered and mix nicely.  Overall I think that the new shades offer much more selection which is great.  Check out my live swatches in the video embedded below or click here to watch directly on YouTube.

L.A. Girl Glazed Lip Paints new colors
Whisper, Elude, Flirt, Whimsical, Tango and Peony (left to right).

For the first set of Glazed Lip Paints are the softer shades.

As you can see from the shades, these tones have white hues to them, making them easy to use year round but what I love to do is take these shades and blend them with the darker hues to offer a customized color blend but also making the darker shades a little more wearable.

My favorite from this set of six would be Elude.  This is not a shade I would use often and in fact, if I did it would probably be something I would use more during the Spring and Summer months, but it applies nicely on my lips and I can easily soften the look for an every day lip look.  I didn’t think I would like this Nude/Coral blend, but I have been enjoying it.

Next are the six shades that are a little more on the bold side.  I love the colors in this set because they are bold, most of them offer that gorgeous rich deep purples that I love and the colors are perfect for Fall.  If I had to select one shade that would be my absolute favorite it would be a mix between Seduce, Daring and Tempt but Daring would be my absolute favorite.  I am not a huge fan of Tease because it does have small silver glitters within it and I feel like it just doesn’t look good on my lips, though I’m sure someone would rock it out better than me.

Pictured Left to Right – Top to Bottom: Tempt, Daring, Tease, Gleam, Seduce, Feisty

Just like the original six that was released in Spring, these offer a gloss like texture without the sticky feeling and have that tingle minty feel that I like because it is not overpowering and nice on the lips.  I love how these glide on and found that when applying with a doe foot applicator, they actually apply much nicer on the lips than with a lip brush or directly from the glazed lip paint tube.  Just as before in my original review, these just didn’t have the longevity on my lips and if I drink or eat anything, they wipe off quite easily… I get probably 2 hours max use out of these if I’m talking quite a bit.  Does that stop me from using them?  No, especially with these new additions (the deep plum/purple shades) I have become even more of a fan.

LA Girl Glazed Lip Paint Daring

I wish these had a little longer lasting power on my lips, but like I mentioned, I do love them.  I have been using Daring and Tempt pretty often in the last couple of weeks.  While the deeper shades do not stain, I do notice that they live a light hue on my lips with remnants of the shade.  I love that my lips do not feel dry and when the product is on my lips, it feels really nice.  I do recommend a lip liner because these don’t really bleed, but do have slip so without a liner, the color does move.  Overall though, I’m still impressed and enjoy them.  For $4.00 – that’s a steal.

Each tube has 0.40 fl oz / 12 mL included and can be purchased at LA Girl’s Website or at select retail locations that sell the brand.  Shipping to Hawaii is very expensive from the site and I haven’t been able to find this brand here so I purchased these from a reputable seller on ebay for a discount.

Have you tried any of these Glazed Lip Paints?  Are the new additions to the collection shades that you would be interested in?  Comment and let me know.

It is no secret that I am a huge fan of Milani Cosmetics and those that have been following me a while know that I use at least one product in each of the looks I create.  A few years ago, I purchased my first Milani eye shadow palette – A Runway Eyes kit and I enjoyed the pigmentation as well the price point and because of this I was completely hooked.  Fast forward five years and I am still craving that gold packaging… I consider Milani the high-end brand of drugstore cosmetics.

Milani Constellation Gel Eye Liners

PRESS SAMPLE

Recently Milani Cosmetics released a Limited Edition collection of goodies as a part of their Bedazzled Collection. The Constellation Gel Eye Liners available in three shades: 01-Enchanted Lapis, 02-Enchanted Black Opal and 03-Enchanted Emerald retail for $5.99 on Milanicosmetics.com and can also be found at select Walgreens locations for a limited time.

Milani Constellation Gel Eye Liners

Check out my thoughts on these liners in my video review embedded below or click here to watch directly on YouTube.

Each Constellation Gel Eye Liner comes with 0.14oz/4g of product and an eyeliner brush.  The liners are encased in the signature Milani gold packaging but the pot itself is quite lightweight in comparison to other Milani products.  I’m quite impressed with the packaging for these liners as it has a twist off/on cap that allows you to keep the liner protected and sealed shut when not in use.  The brush that comes with the product is well made in my opinion and I have been enjoying using it not only with these liners but also with others in my collection.  It’s dense enough to pick up product but still soft enough against the skin, no tugging.  While this brush is small, it picks up enough product needed and allows you ease of control & is easy to hold considering it’s size.

Milani Constellation Gel Eye Liners

At first glance, these gel liners are absolutely gorgeous in the pot… so much so that I didn’t want to open them, swatch them or use them.  I knew right away that the top layer of the liners had an over spray and I knew once I dipped into the pot, I would be sacrificing the gorgeous “Galaxy” look they had.  I was quite eager to try these in hopes that they would be as “galactic” (see what I did there? lol) as I thought they looked in the pot.

Milani Constellation Gel Eye Liners

Each liner is very creamy – much more creamy than I am used to and because of this… I think it offered a heavy amount of slip through the application process.  While applying, I had to take my time and apply in layers to not only build up the metallic look of each shade but also to get it to the consistency I want.  It didn’t take much to build it up.  As you used each product, while it still held the “metallic” look with some shimmer, the product lost the “over spray” I had mentioned I thought it had.

Milani Constellation Gel Eye Liners

01 – Enchanted Lapis is a gorgeous blue shade with a metallic sheen.  When applied it shows up a much deeper shade than what you see initially.  I would consider the end result a kind of metallic navy blue.

Milani Constellation Gel Eye Liners

In the pot, before use… Enchanted Lapis looks like it has blue, purple, silver and turquoise shades – but overall, when applied, it applies the metallic navy blue shade you see on my eyelid.

Milani Constellation Gel Eye Liners

02 – Enchanted Black Opal reminds me of a deep chrome/charcoal black shade when applied.  This color has light flecks of shimmer that can be seen in the application.

Milani Constellation Gel Eye Liners

In the pot, before use… Enchanted Black Opal has black, silver, pink and gold over spray in the pot before touching the product.  It’s gorgeous – but even in my swatch or use on my eyelid, only black/silver and some flecks of silver glitter were visible.

Milani Constellation Gel Eye Liners

03 – Enchanted Emerald applies and looks like a teal / emerald green when used or swatched.  There is are some small flecks of shimmer, but for the most part this looks metallic on the lid.

Milani Constellation Gel Eye Liners

In the pot, before use… Enchanted Emerald has a gorgeous array of shades in the overspray.  Dark emerald green, turquoise blue, bright green and purple are all laid upon the top of this liner.

Milani Constellation Gel Eye Liners

As you can see from the swatches, any of the pretty effects you see on the liner before use are no longer visible for the most part once you apply the liner.  While I don’t necessarily consider that a con, it would be awesome if these liners offered that option.  Each of them do lend for a gorgeous metallic hue which I think is still quite stunning.

Milani Constellation Gel Eye Liners

Now that I’ve given you the low down of these Milani Constellation Gel liners… let’s talk about my thoughts overall.  I think these are absolutely gorgeous in the pot and it’s disappointing that they lose that gorgeous overspray once you use the product.  However, I don’t think that is the most disappointing.  As much as I tried to love these, I struggled with the use of them.  After trying different techniques, I think the formulation could use a little adjusting.

First off all – these claim to be Smudge Proof and will “last from dusk to dawn”.  I have tried on many occasions to get these liners to stay in place for me… but they either run, smudged or became a mess and using them longer than an hour left me with panda eyes.  I have tried to set them with a powder shadow, but that did not quite work for me.  After using these for about a month, I found that the best way to apply for the best longevity would be to apply in light layers and build the color up.  However, even with that – it still smudged on my oily eyelids and I am not able to use it as a daily liner or out at night on a hot day or it will get everywhere.  Using these liners as an all over shadow base may work for some, but I also found the liner to be too creamy for me and because of this the shadow I applied on top moved around quite a bit and then creased in a short amount of time. I think these would be awesome for someone who does a lot of theatrical work or someone looking for a statement liner and something that doesn’t offer longevity.  I’m sure some of my cons may have some to do with the fact that I live in a humid/hot climate, but overall I had some difficulty getting the liners to stay in place, in tact and on my eyelids during each use.  Wearing this in my waterline caused my eyes to be irritated and again – I looked like a Panda who hadn’t slept in a week.  While these did not work for me, I’m still very impressed with how they look.  I think the overall creaminess and texture of the product could attest to the slip that the product offers.  At the price point, I think it’s definitely worth checking out to see if it will work for you as I know well that what may not work for me may work for someone else.  But for me, I consider these a miss, though that doesn’t mean I won’t try to make use of them in future looks.  Milani stole my heart years ago and while one product may not work for me, that doesn’t mean I still don’t love them so. Have you tried these liners? If not, is this something you have been interested in?  I would love to know your thoughts on this.

I swear my blog is filled with moisturizer and skin care products that you can pick and choose from, but with my sensitive skin I’m always on the hunt for a product that will offer me great moisture while still giving me the anti-aging benefits needed to look younger.  A good anti-aging moisturizer is always a great addition to my skin care regimen and I am on the prowl to find one that I am in love with.

Miracalis

Miracalis Anti-Aging Cream is a thick but smooth moisturizer.  Retailing for $60.00 (on sale right now for $36.00 – 1oz / 30ml) this product offers moisturizing capabilities for you and works especially well for those with extra dry skin.  Since I have severe eczema, I am always worried that a new brand or one I have not heard of before could cause me a flare up.  However, I did not experience any flare ups or sensitivity break outs while using this product – major bonus.

Miracalis

Ingredients:  Water, Cetyl Alcohol, Sodium Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyl Dimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Glyceryl Stearate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Glycerin, Prunus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, Acrylamide/Sodium Acrylate Copolymer, Mineral oil, Trideceth-6, Dimethicone, Saccharide Isomerate, Pseudoalteromonas Ferment Extract, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Tripeptide-10 Citrulline, Tripeptide-1, Lecithin, Xanthan Gum, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, Phenoxyetanol, Butylene Glycol, Caprylyl Glycol, Ubiqinone 50, Squalane, Sodium Carboxymethyl Betaglucan, Aloe Vera Gel, Propylene Glycol, Diazolidinyl Urea, Lodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, Sodium EDTA, Persea gratissima (Avocado) Fruit Extract, Daucus carota sativa (Carrot) Root Extract, Curcurmis sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Panax ginseng (Ginseng) Root Extract, Tilia cordata (Linden Tree) Leaf Extract, Tromethamine

This cream is said to rapidly reduce wrinkle depth with case studies that show a decrease of 17% after 15 days of use and up to 32% after 28 days.  I did not notice that my wrinkles have diminished (they are all still there), but I did notice that my skin seemed like it looked plump and my wrinkles were not as deep as they were before using this product.  I also noticed my skin feels quite moisturized and the moisture will last for hours.  While the product is a bit thick, it smooths on and soaks into my skin quickly.  Instantly my skin feels moisturized without causing a greasy feel.

The scent is mild, which I like… I can barely smell anything if at all.   I have applied this cream both as a part of my day (morning) and night moisturizer but I prefer to use it at night.  While it does soak in quickly and I don’t have that greasy feel like I mentioned, for some reason I just feel like it is thicker than I would like to use during the day.  I apply several products to my skin both day and night and this is usually the last thing I apply so during the day – I try to use a lighter moisturizer.

Miracalis

Overall I’m impressed with the moisture my skin gets from this product.  I have noticed my skin feels softer, is plump and some of my fine lines and wrinkles do not seem as deep as before.  While I do believe it is important to invest in your skin care and anti-aging products, I do think that the cost of this little jar when at full price is quite hefty… but if you can purchase it at discount or on sale, it’s definitely worth it.

Who doesn’t like a good cleansing facial oil? Well, prior to trying new brands, I had used my Organic Unrefined Virgin Coconut Oil “my holy grail, must-have, cure all” product as not only a facial and body moisturizer, hair serum/oil, facial cleanser and makeup remover as the facial oil of choice.  Of course, you could call me pretty biased, but I really wasn’t going to try any new brands.  However, recently I have had the opportunity to try out a Cleansing Facial Oil from Insta Natural (which is a brand I love for skin care products already) and I knew I had to try it out.

Cleansing Facial Oils are all the craze now a days as they are beginning to replace normal cleansers that we can buy to remove dirt, grime and makeup.  While it is becoming a new trend, using oil to remove makeup has been around for years… in fact, my mom would tell me that my dad suggested she use Extra Virgin Olive Oil or Coconut Oil to remove her makeup years before it started to become popular.  A best kept secret for many years, it is now something you hear about often all over the internet, on television and in magazines.

Insta Natural’s Gentle & Reviving Deep Cleansing Facial Oil ($49.95 Retail – on sale for $19.95, 4 fl oz / 120 ml) is a skin and pore purifier and makeup remover.  Said to be the fastest, easiest way to banish dirt, grime and makeup from your face – application is easy and so is the removal.  Simply massage a small amount of the facial wash into your skin to take off all the dirt and makeup.  I have enjoyed using this especially to remove my waterproof mascara or lash adhesive.  It works well and doesn’t leave my face feeling dry or my eyes irritated like some cleansers can do.  It’s still delicate enough to not strip your skin of natural oils that you need to keep your skin soft and moisturized and your skin doesn’t feel oily after washing it off.  I like to put a little of the cleanser on my finger tips to remove eye makeup or put some of the facial oil on a cotton pad or cotton ball and gently rub on my face to remove the dirt.  I then rinse it off with warm water and pat my face dry with a clean cloth.

insta natural cleansing oil

The dispenser is very easy to use, simply just push down on the pump and your facial oil is dispensed.  You can decide whether or not how you want to apply and use it.  Like I said depending on what I need to take off, I will use appropriately.

Key Ingredients: Jojoba Oil, Olive Oil, Essential Oils, Hemp Oil, Tamanu Oil, and Seabuckthorn Oil.

Now if you have never used a cleansing oil before to clean your face, it may be a bit different from what you expect a cleanser to do.  If you already have oily or acne prone skin, it may also seem like you are doing something completely wrong by adding oil to your skin to clean it when your skin already over produces oil.  However, sometimes many don’t realize that your skin may be overproducing oil because it is not moisturized and therefore your skin is overcompensating for lack of moisture.  While that may not be the case for everyone, I definitely suggest trying a facial cleansing oil to see how it would work for you.  I use some form of oil whether coconut oil, Argan oil or Rosehip oil to moisturize my face at least once a day and over the last two years my skin went from break outs to barely a pimple in site.

insta natural cleansing oil

This facial cleanser does have a light fragrance that smells almost like jojoba oil (probably because it includes jojoba oil) and while it does have Lavender Essential oil, the scent of lavender is not over powering and just light enough to where you can smell a hint of it, but it doesn’t drive me nuts.  Since I have very dry skin, this has definitely made a difference in my skin care routine, keeping my skin soft and moisturized even before adding my serums and moisturizer.  I loved that I was able to get through the summer months without a severe eczema flare up because my skin stayed supple. While this is a liquid / oil like textured product, it doesn’t feel “oily” and cleanses the skin while locking in the much needed moisture our skin needs.

insta natural rosehip seed oil

Along with Insta Natural’s Cleansing Facial Oil I have also been using the 100% Pure Rosehip Seed Oil ($49.95 Retail – On Sale for $21.95 / 4 fl.oz.) in my skin care regimen.  This organic oil is rich in essential fatty acids, including Linolenic, Linoleic and Oleic Acid (Omega 3,6 & 9) along with Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Antiioxidants and Beta-Carotene.  This can be used on your face, hair, nails and skin as a restorer that helps to heal your skin, reduce the appearance of wrinkles, age spots, scars and stretch marks and provides hydration for your skin as well as reviving your natural skin color.  I have been loving this product for my stretch marks (yes, I have lots of those… remember – 2 births and one I carried twins. lol) as well as using on some of my acne scars.  I do have to be a bit careful with the use of this product however, because sometimes I feel like I look a little more “tanned” then I should be, though it does even out my skin tone quite nicely.

Ingredients
100% Pure USDA Certified Organic Rosehip Seed Oi. NO CHEMICALS, NO ADDITIVE, NO ADDED FRAGRANCE. Imported from Chile.

This has an amber yellowish tint to it so I while it soaks into the skin really nicely, keep in mind that spilling this can stain.  Also the smell… do not expect this to smell like roses because the scent is a little… hmmm…. I can’t even explain it.  It reminds me of taking a fish oil capsule and a strong scented vitamin – it’s strong but luckily it doesn’t last too long.  I use this product mostly in the evenings because of the scent and if you are sensitive to smell, I probably wouldn’t use it during the day.  Overall this makes a great addition to my skincare regimen and I also suggested it to a friend who has been suffering from inflammation of the skin and acne breakouts and she has been enjoying it.

While I think that any of the products mentioned in this post could be beneficial for many – especially if you have dry skin I also know that sometimes what works for others may not work for some.  I do suggest trying it out and seeing how it works for you or discuss with your dermatologist.  I use several different products from the Insta Natural line (you can see other products I have reviewed: Argan Oil Hair Treatment and Youth Express Eye Gel) and have been loving their skincare line altogether.  Have you heard of facial cleansing oils before and have your tried any?  What about Rosehip oil?  What are your thoughts on these items?

Adovia Moisturizing Day Cream

It is an absolute requirement that I use moisturizer on a daily basis, two times a day because of my eczema and the fact that it flares up the worst when my skin is dry.  Because of this, I’m always on the hunt for one that will not only provide me with great moisturizing capabilities, but is fragrance free or has a light scent and soaks into the skin quickly and nicely so my face doesn’t feel like an oil slick.  I have tried many and I have my favorites, but recently I have had the opportunity to try out one from Adovia.  I have used Adovia products before in the past and while some worked well for me, others I have to use in moderation because of my sensitive skin – but overall, I’ve always been impressed.

adovia moisturizing day cream

The Adovia Day Moisturizing Cream (on sale for $25.95 1.7 fl.oz / 50ml – normally $46.00) is a quick absorbing and non-greasy daytime formula.  It is infused with Dead Sea minerals and aloe vera.  I actually like using this cream at night since it is thicker and perfect for evening moisturizing.  This cream is Hypoallergenic, dermatologist tested and offers deep hydration for your skin to bring out its natural radiance.  One application provides all-day moisture without clogging pores.  Adovia moisturizing cream contains an active complex of Dead Sea minerals for natural moisture balance that is easier for skin to retain and this cream makes an ideal makeup base.

Ingredients
Demineralised Water & Dead Sea Water, Stearic Acid, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Bergamot (Citrus Aurantium Bergamia) Oil, Cetyl Alcohol, Grape (Vitis Vinifera) Seed Oil, Caprilyc/Capric Triglyceride, Potassium Cetyl Phosphate, Carbomer, Propylene Glycol & Chamomile (Anthemis Noblis) Extract & Algae Extract & Papaya (Carica Papaya) Extract & Aloe Vera Barbadensis Gel, Urea, Lactic Acid, Dimethicone, Benzoic Acid, Chlorphenesin, Dehydroacetic Acid, Benzalkoinium Chloride, Retinyl Palmitate, Dead Sea Salt, Benzophenone-3.

adovia moisturizing day cream

Like I mentioned previously, this is a thick moisturizer and while it worked okay for me during the day – I really rather use it at night.  I felt like it was just too heavy for me to use during the day and while I didn’t feel greasy or oily, I felt like I was wearing foundation and it didn’t soak into my skin very quickly.  When I used it at night, it soaks into my skin much quicker and I wake up in the morning with my skin feeling very soft and moisturized.  This product has a light fragrance, almost like a lotion but it is not easily detected unless you literally smell the product.  I love that it has that “almost body butter” texture to it because it smooths on so nicely and luxuriously.

adovia moisturizing day cream

I have been enjoying how easy it is to apply – I simply use circular motions with my finger tips to apply to my face.  Also – since I have very sensitive skin, I was a bit leery to try a new moisturizer but have been liking this product overall.  If I do use this product in the morning for the day – I always make sure to apply the moisturizer at least 30 minutes to an hour before leaving the house, that way I can really take the time to work the product into my skin and let it sit a bit before I head on out into the humid weather.  While it can give me the feeling of foundation on my face when used during the day (as I mentioned previously), if I give it some time to soak in well, it really does offer great moisture through the day.  If I am in a rush, I don’t normally pull for this particular product.

Overall I do like this moisturizer and the fact that it keeps my skin hydrated and soft.  I would definitely recommend this product, especially since the price is pretty darn affordable.
