A few months ago I was contacted by Alter Ego and asked if I wanted to take a test drive of their new (soon to be released) Temptress Palette. I have never heard of the brand before and I was absolutely intrigued, since the palette was said to be a dupe of the Anastasia Beverly Hills Sultry Palette. Since then, I have been using the palette and trying it out. Today, I’m going to be sharing with you my thoughts and swatches of the Alter Ego Temptress Palette. Do I like it? You’ll have to read on to see!
About The Alter Ego Temptress Palette
The Alter Ego Temptress Palette retails for $16.00. It comes with 14 gorgeously pigmented shades. I also got two brushes, a large shader brush and a blender brush. The Temptress palette launched in January of this year and is pretty much a perfect dupe for the Anastasia Beverly Hills Sultry Palette. I don’t have the Sultry palette to compare for you, but after looking at it in person and comparing with my Temptress palette, I’m absolutely swooning over the similarities and quality.
The Temptress Palette features a mix of matte and metallic shades in a range of nude, golden and bronze type tones. The palette is Cruelty-free and paraben-free. It’s made in the PRC but is distributed and sold in the United States. The palette is a total steal for the quality and awesomeness you receive.
Talc, Mica, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, Calcium Sodium Borosilicate, Dimethicone, Phenyl Trimethicone, Magnesium Stearate, Nylon-12, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Silica, Kaolin, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Isononyl Isononanoate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Tin Oxide, Phenoxyethanol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethyhexylglycerin. +/- May Contain: Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Bronze Powder (CI 77400), Aluminum Powder (CI 77000), Iron Oxide Red (CI 77491), Iron Oxide Yellow (CI 77492), Iron Oxide Black (CI 77499), Ferric Ferrocyanide (CI 77510), Ultramarines (CI 77007), Black 2 (CI 77266), Carmine (CI 75470), Red 40 Lake (CI 16035), Yellow 5 Lake (CI 19140).
My Overall Thoughts
The shades are very pigmented. But, what I love about them is that they are not powdery like you’d expect from a cheaper, more affordable palette. The shadows are creamy, but not so buttery that it makes a mess. I also love that there is minimal to little fallout from the shadows. I can grab for this palette on a daily and use it on my lids for a pop of color or an everyday look. I have been wanting to purchase the ABH Sultry Palette and missed when it was on sale, so I decided it wasn’t for me. But, having this palette in my hands, I am not missing the Sultry palette at all.
The perfect Every Day Palette for looks that are effortless and easy to create.

I have been loving how great this palette blends on my mature eyelids. I’m just absolutely amazed with the quality of this product. I am also loving that Alter Ego has supreme customer service as they have been answering all my questions. I have already had several family members order this palette after I shared my thoughts with them. They are loving it as much as I am.
So, what about you? Do you think this would be a palette you’d be interested in checking out for yourself? I highly suggest trying it out. For the price point, it can’t be beat. And, you get a luxury and high-end product feel without the price point.

Happy New Year fam! It seems like I haven’t written here in like forever and I still can’t get over the fact that it’s 2019. I’m excited about the new year and the changes I know are to come and the path I’m hoping to take this year. I used to share these types of posts with my readers pretty often over the years, but in the last few years I’ve slacked. So, I figured a new year, means I can try again, right? I started the new year pretty nicely, simple and effortless. As I finally find the time to log into my blog, I am also starting the new year with a new post on my birthday. Can you believe it, I’m 39 today. Anyway, I wanted to share my word of the year for 2019 and without further adieu, my word of the year for 2019 is…
Yup – you read that correctly. My word of the year for 2019 is balance. Last year, Inspire was my word and I thought I did a pretty good job at incorporating it into the year. But, I realized that I really needed to improve how I balance my life. Now, let me elaborate on this a bit. I struggled with finding the perfect balance between home life, workouts and getting healthier and my Blog, YouTube and Podcast, spending enough time outdoors enjoying life and just everything in general. I’m sure everyone has those times when you just can’t balance the fine line between your various life occurrences, right? But for me… I struggled with being able to do more than one at the same time, or focusing on just one thing. While I never really had that problem before, but it seemed like last year literally took the cherry on the pie and left me with the crust. I knew I needed to become a healthier me, so I took that time to focus on that and many things fell through the cracks. Once I started improving on my health, I focused on my family and having adventures and forgot about everything else. It seemed as if I couldn’t find the proper balance to tackle each task and part of life seamlessly.
CREATING BALANCE – HOW I PLAN TO ACCOMPLISH THIS
There’s so much for me to look forward to in 2019 and while I don’t do the whole “resolutions” thing, I definitely create a vision board to keep me on track with goals I’d like to accomplish for the year. I need to take the time to not only work on myself and my family life, but also create a life I continue to love. Here are a few things I’d like to focus on for this year to help create balance in my life:
Finding Balance in being healthy. Continuing to improve my health is very important to me. I’ve tried to make it a lifestyle change and my goal is to continue to work towards improvement while incorporating the tools I need to be successful.
Finding Balance in making time for myself and the things I enjoy and love to do. Whether that means finding time for a manicure or going for a walk – I must find time to spend on myself. Self-love is not just a hashtag, it’s an important part of what we need to do for ourselves.
Working on balance in work life – creating equal amounts of content for my blog, YouTube, Podcast and social media. Create the best content for engagement and really incorporate ideas from my viewers and readers. I want to be able to have a schedule that will allow me to post a minimum of once a week and create content that everyone will enjoy. Most importantly, content that I’m proud of.
Balance in my marriage. Important – plan for date nights with Kev and I. This may seem like such a small task, but I feel like we truly need to get out more together – just he and I. Date nights are definitely essential for any couple. After having children, it seems like we have been very focused on the boys and I must be able to have balance in life to spend time with Kev and really build our relationship again.
Balance in a schedule. This one – heck it’s not gonna be easy. I push so many tasks on the side to work a schedule that I think it essential. But I’m struggling to really get everything done. I need to be able to really use my calendar and various planners to keep organized with a good schedule so I can accomplish everything I need to and want to do.
Balance in food. I realized a lot about my eating habits in the last year. I am totally addicted to sugar. But if I can work through some of that as I have been doing and still be able to satisfy my cravings, I think I will be successful this year.
Balance in adventures. This may seem like an odd one, but I feel like I go through bouts of adventures and then a dry spell for a really long time. If I incorporate at least one type of adventure a week or a few each month, I’m not feeling like I missed out on so much or spent too much time playing instead of accomplishing important tasks.
There is obviously so much more I want to be able to focus my balance and time on. I have a lot of things I’d love to be able to accomplish this year and I’m optimistic that I will get it done.
New Year – Same Honey, Just Improved
I really started 2019 off on a good note (even if I’m just writing my first post for the year and it’s already 14 days in lol. I’m excited for all the adventures and the memories I’ll be making and creating this year. But, I truly want to make 2019 a year of balancing all of my tasks and daily life, while creating memories and working on myself. I look forward to looking back at this year and all the changes and accomplishments I’ve been able to make.
Do you have a Word of the Year?
So, tell me… do you have a word of the year? Any resolutions or goals you want to accomplish for 2019. I’d love to know all about it, so be sure to leave me a comment below and let me know.
I LOVE Sunglasses!!!!! Anyone that knows me, knows that you can find me in sunglasses the minute the sun rises until the sun sets. I am a huge fan and lover of Maui Jims because I grew up with the brand (my dad had a pair that was over 40 years old before he passed) and the customer service is awesome. But, when I’m looking for something else in a different range of brands and styles, I love checking out other brands available. I was recently introduced to Ottica, a sunglasses, and glasses website that offers a variety of brands to suit all styles and fashion statements. Let’s learn a little about the site and what it can offer us fashionistas, shall we?
As many of you know, I’m a huge fan of Coach so I was immediately smitten when I saw that Ottica offered Coach Sunglasses and prescription lenses. Ottica is an online retailer that offers a 365 Day warranty and 100% Money Back Guarantee. With brands like Versace, Coach, Ray-Ban, Carolina Lemke, Tory Burch, Burberry and Michael Korrs, there is bound to be a sunglasses or prescription lens that you will enjoy from a brand you love. You can select from a variety of brands at different price points and the website is very easy to maneuver.
Ottica offers men and women’s classes in different shapes, lens colors, etc. and you can choose if you want to have an Rx (prescription) put into your frames or a selection of different lenses they have on hand. You can also opt for a polarized option if you would like those.
What’s so awesome about Ottica is that they really embody a simplistic approach to things – Less is More. They hand pick their frames and present a carefully curated selection. While the variety is wide, each pair available is selected to keep their choice small, but varied. They are constantly updating their collection and featuring new and exciting products from the world’s most beloved brands. Each frame is checked for materials, finishing, and functionality to ensure that they will not only be durable and pliable when wearing them. Every screw and bolt and the quality of the product is verified prior to listing on the site. They literally take each aspect of your glasses seriously to ensure you are getting the quality product you deserve and paid for.
Since my Maui Jims need to be repaired, I’ve been sporting my Coach sunglasses for Ottica for the last 2 months. Let me just say that while I expected great quality since Coach is a brand I love, I’m enjoying the durability of these glasses. The lenses are scratch resistant (now they will scratch if care is not taken) and they come with a little microfiber cloth and a gorgeous case. I have been using this pair everywhere, even on our little staycation this past weekend and in the pool. They are comfortable and fit perfectly for me.
Ottica offers wonderful service and commitment. I was able to experience the same buying process as any of their customers and loved that if I had a question, they could answer it quickly and without issue. Even if you’re buying sunglasses or glasses online often, it can be an issue dealing with the right size and shape, so I love that Ottica offers that money back guarantee and free shipping and returns. You can also select their extended coverage if that works better for you. Ottica operates a 24/7 in-house customer service department (which is wonderful for people like me who don’t live in the usual East Coast time zone) and the staff is knowledgeable and so nice. You also get a live chat option if it’s available at that time.
Overall, my experience with Ottica has been great and I know that it will be a site that I’ll turn to for future purchases as well.
You can check out Ottica yourself here and see if there is anything that you may like.
Have you heard of Ottica before or tried anything from this site? Is this a site you’d be interested in checking out for yourself?

Some of my favorite hair products come from the Nourishing Moisture and Natural Oil lines. If you are looking for a great masque, I highly suggest checking out one from either of those selections.

Marula’s hair products are favorites of mine and while they cost a pretty penny – they are luxe treatment for my long locks. The Light Hair Treatment and Styling Oil is a favorite because it offers my hair gorgeous shine, helps fight frizz and leaves my hair feeling soft and looking great.

I have been using Arvazallia products now for over 3 years and have raved about it here on Honeygirlsworld.com on more than one occasion. The Hydrating Argan Oil Mask is by far one of my favorites to help restore my hair, adding shine and hydrating my hair after the summer months. These products literally help repair and strengthen my hair and they smell great. The mask is especially perfect for anyone with thin hair like I have, it doesn’t weigh your hair down.

Nourishing Hair Care – HASK Monoi Coconut Oil Nourishing Shampoo, Conditioner, Hair Oil and Mask. It’s no secret that HASK is one of my favorite hair care lines found at the drugstore. The line is affordable and I have tried almost all of the products they have for sale, but the Monoi Coconut Oil line is quite possibly my favorite. The Nourishing Conditioner works wonders for me with co-washing my locks and when I need a good clean, the shampoo is definitely the one I enjoy because it cleans my hair well without stripping all of its natural moisture.

Affordable Hair Care for All Budgets – OGX Hair Care Lines: Oh, I’m a huge fan of OGX and consider them a brand worth checking out at the Drugstore. Easy Hair Styling – Charlie Curls: I’m all about simplicity when it comes to hair, especially since my natural hair is curly. Recently I came across a cool product that I thought anyone could enjoy – long hair, medium length hair, you name it. Developed by Kris and her daughter Ciera – CharlieCurls is a one-piece hair curler that takes 30 seconds to put in. Simply bend over, roll it up and forget it. Leave it in for a few hours to see beautiful waves or all night for impressive curls. There is no heat or tedious hair rollers required that take forever and these are so easy to sleep on too.
Available at: https://charliecurls.com/
Hair Care for your Fur Baby – Isle of the Dogs CocoClean Natural Xtra Clean Shampoo and Detangling Conditioner: I know this may not be a traditional product to list in a gift guide. But, I didn’t say this guide was specifically just for humans. If you put presents under the tree for your fur baby like we do, I think these products would be a great hit. Ikaika is our King Charles Cavalier Spaniel and he is part of our family. He is not a fan of taking a bath, but absolutely loves CocoClean products. First of all – these products smell great so we as a family enjoy them and second, these products leave Ikaika’s coat feeling so soft and manageable. Since Ikaika has long hair, it’s important that we keep his tangles at bay and these products not only keep him smelling great, but leave his hair so soft which makes brushing a breeze. If you are looking for something new to gift your furry friend this holiday – I definitely suggest checking out this line, it’s awesome.
Price: $8.99 – $10.99

As a family, our lives tend to be a bit hectic and busy. I just consider us busy because we are out in the world, making memories and enjoying life. This year all three boys started school the same week they started Football practice for Pop Warner. Let’s just say it has been a busy month so far and keeping the littles on task for school while still getting them to and from practice and games can be a challenge but overall rewarding and we make it work to the best to our ability. With a schedule that starts from 6am and ends at 8:30pm for the boys, they have a long day and their little bodies keep truckin from rise to bed. To keep t hem on top of their game and play, I try to incorporate great tasting snacks like CLIF Kid Zbar® that have important nutrients for active kids.
It seems like I have a household full of guys that literally eat like crazy, but with three growing boys that’s exactly what is going on. To keep them on their toes, I give them CLIF Kid Zbars, which are nutritious snacks that are made from organic ingredients, all of which are specially-crafted for kids’ developing taste buds and active lives. My sons absolutely love how the CLIF Kid Zbars tastes and they have asked me to purchase them many times.
CLIF Kid Zbars are the perfect portion size for kids. I especially love that they come in flavors that they love and they fit perfectly in their lunch box or backpack to take with them to school. All three boys snack on their CLIF Kid Zbars during break for that mid day snack so that they are not starving when they come home from school. I enjoy that they are made with organic ingredients, are Non-GMO (something we try to steer clear of in our household) and have no high fructose corn syrup, artificial flavors or synthetic preservatives.
CLIF Kid has been an essential part of our back to school routine and the boys have been loving the taste and flavors of the snacks they have tried. But, what I love is that they don’t need to be used for just school. CLIF Kid is dedicated to reclaiming play! With balance and active play laying the foundation for skilled, healthy, resilient and successful society, we are keeping our kids active and still providing them fun. This is one of the reasons why my sons are engaged with Play time, no matter what it is. Our play time is football and the boys enjoy CLIF Kid Zbars as a part of their snack after practice.
When my sons are on the filed, they not only get a little active time, but they have a lot of fun and CLIF Kid helps to encourage that. Let’s face it, play is disappearing at home, in school and in communities now a days, especially since technology, television and video games have a little part in that. I remember as a kid, I played outside all the time and it’s sad to see that 70% of moms like me played outside while only 31% of our kids play outside today. I encourage outside play whole heartily and enjoy that my sons love to play and keep active.
Whether it’s back to school or on the field, foraging through the woods or riding a bike – no matter the play time your family enjoys, get out and enjoy it all. Remember, like I said before… make memories while having some fun.
What about you? Do you remember being out exploring and playing till the lights came on? What are your favorite memories of your play time? Encourage play time with your kids if you don’t already, have some fun and create memories.

Hawaiian born singer and songwriter, Anuhea, is one of the most popular talents to originate from Hawaii. She charted top ten on the iTunes Pop, R&B and Reggae charts as well as the Billboard Heatseakers and World Music Charts. Anuhea has shared the stage with Bruno Mars, Babyface, Al Green, FloRida, Hoobastank, Jack Johnson and Ziggy Marley. She won two Na Hoku Hanohano Awards, Hawaii’s version of the Grammy’s, for Contemporary Album of the Year and Most Promising Artist. Eight of her songs consecutively made it to #1 in Hawaii including, “Higher than the Clouds.”
I’ll be honest, I didn’t think that I would write about these, but since I already filmed the video review and it’s been sitting in my Que for release for a few weeks now, I figured that I would write one anyway. My opinions haven’t changed since first trying these lippies and I doubt that they will. Let’s get on with it – shall we? Today I’m talking to you about the Wet n Wild Color Icon Metallic Liquid Lipsticks from the Limited Edition Lost in the Wild Flowers collection.
The Wet n Wild Color Icon Metallic Liquid Lipsticks from the Lost in the Wild Flowers collection showed up in my local Walgreens about a month (or more) ago and I found four shades available. The display was quite picked through so I’m not quite sure if there are more colors available, but I picked up what my Walgreens had and I was really excited to get my hands on them. Retailing for just $3.99 these metallic liquid lipsticks were a part of a limited edition collection that included nail polishes and some blush and highlighters (or that is what I seen in the display) and I decided I would only pick up the lipsticks.
Now this new craze of metallic liquid lipsticks seem to be hitting quite a few companies and brands as they are being released all over the internet and you may have already seen different brands like Kylie Jenner and Milani – even ColourPop recently released a set of them. I was quite excited to try one that was affordable. After bringing the four shades home with me, I immediately began to swatch each one.
The packaging is adorable and I love how small it is while still packing in a good amount of product. The doe foot applicator is also quite nice. It has a slight dip in the applicator allowing you to apply the product to your lips easily and ensuring the product hugs your lips to create shape. It reminds me of the Jordana Sweet Cream liquid lipstick applicator which I talk about in this post here. The only difference is that the one from Wet n Wild, the applicator is a little more on the fluffier side, but it still makes applying the product a breeze.
If you are looking for a lip product that is much like a gloss, you may like this particular lippy. This reminds me of a glittery gloss with a similar texture. It’s kind of odd to me to be honest and applying it on my lips – while the colors are pigmented, it looked weird and felt uncomfortable. This is not a liquid lipstick texture I would prefer. It reminds me of a gel like lip gloss formula with shimmer and metallic flecks.
Longevity… I couldn’t say that these lasted AT ALL. They kiss off very easily and drinking or eating anything really left a mess behind. While they do have nice pigment and color, I hate that when I wipe it off my lips, it leaves that metallic shimmer behind which settles into the fine lines and cracks in my lips. It’s unattractive and really emphasizes all those lines on my lips whether at it’s full pigmentation or faded. I also haven’t seen any other colors available in this line and while I’m not a fan, maybe a different color selection would make for a different opinion. All of the shades have a blue base to them, which is not my favorite to wear – especially if they have a shimmer or metallic look to them.
Since they are so affordable, I think they would definitely be a great topper for a matte lipstick or something fun to wear. They oddly remind me of my childhood – which by the way, I am a child of the 80s and a teen of the 90s, so that says a lot about the shade range and finish. While I was able to apply the lip products and get color from them, there is a lot of streaky color application and sometimes I felt like I was applying more and more but rubbing off color at the same time. While these are cheap, unless you have something fun planned for them – I don’t think they would be used well for every day or even special occasions. I have had MANY Wet n Wild lippies over the years and these definitely made the “eh” list because I have them so I’ll try to make use of them, but I’m not a fan and don’t think I will be. If I had to absolutely choose one out of the whole bunch, I think “Coming Up Roses” – the darkest shade in the bunch, would probably be my favorite – though, I wouldn’t exactly use the word “favorite”. One I know I would be able to make use of is the purple shade – Indigo Your Own Way. When it comes to the metallic part in that particular lipstick, it lends for the glitter to be more wearable then the rest.
In the packaging, these look like absolutely beautiful colors and I think they are… but for me personally, I think they just were not the right fit. At under $4.00 each – the price point is nice and I’m sure I’ll figure out a way to make use of them. Have you tried these yet and if so, what are your thoughts? If you haven’t, do you think you’ll be checking any of these out.
I have always been a fan of Wet n Wild and I’m really enjoying their new releases I’ve seen hitting the stores lately, but this particular set I think could use some improvements. Texture, longevity and overall formulation could use some changes and are certainly to be desired. While this is my opinion of these liquid lipsticks from Wet n Wild, that doesn’t change my general opinion of the brand, and I do still enjoy what WnW offers.

“This post was sponsored by Hello Happy. Hello Hershey’s, as part of an Ambassador Activation for Influence Central.”Summer has officially begun in our household and as a family we can pretty much all agree that some of our most happy moments are shared during the summer months. Since time together can be far and few in between because of a very busy schedule – when it comes to summer break, we love to spend time together as a family, whether it be enjoying dinner or an easy summer treat that we can make together. Who doesn’t love chocolate anyway? My family and I love a simple dessert that’s easy to make and features some of our favorite chocolate delectables from HERSEY’S. Today my family and I would love to share with you our easy Chocolate Dipped Shortbread Cookies and Chocolate Dipped Wonton Chips – a great summer treat.
We love to make most of our yummies from scratch, but having some fresh baked shortbread cookies on hand just called for a quick dip in HERSHEY’S chocolate. We also had some wonton chips on hand which are a fun and popular snack here in Hawaii, so tossing them with some of our favorite chocolate make for a great summer snack.
We used 2 HERSHEY’S products to create our chocolate dipped shortbread cookies and chocolate dipped wonton chips: HERSHEY’S KISSES Chocolates and HERSHEY’S Milk Chocolate Bars.
Here are the easy steps to create your Chocolate Dipped Shortbread Cookies:
Melt your HERSHEY’S Milk Chocolate Bars in the microwave for about 30 seconds and stir until smooth.
Dip your shortbread cookies into the chocolate and place onto wax paper to set.
Put cookies into the refrigerator for about 10 minutes so that chocolate will set and slightly harden.
I baked shortbread cookies the day before – but you can easily get store bought or make your own. That’s what makes this recipe so fun and easy – because it literally takes minutes to make a quick treat.
Here are the easy steps to create your Chocolate Dipped Wonton Chips:
This recipe is easy and while the wonton chips are drizzled in chocolate, I like to mix in a few chocolate pieces to give it a little texture.
Unwrap your HERSHEY’S KISSES and chop or crush into small pieces. I like to use my Ninja Chopper and pulse until the chocolate is into tiny parts (as pictured above).
Melt your HERSHEY’S Milk Chocolate Bars in the microwave for about 30 seconds until melted and stir until smooth.
On a wax paper – spread the melted chocolate evenly in a thin layer. Make sure to reserve half of the melted chocolate to drizzle on the chips.
Sprinkle the wonton chips onto the melted chocolated and then top with the crushed HERSHEY’S Kisses pieces.
Drizzle the remainder of the melted chocolate onto the wonton chips.
With a spoon or fork, toss the wonton chips until they are coated with the chocolate.
Refrigerate for about 10 minutes until chocolate sets and hardens.
We used store bought Wonton chips that are from a local Hawaii brand that is popular here in Hawaii. But, you can make your own if you would like as well.
In between snacking and mixing up some treats, my family and I were able to get in some fun and spend time with one another. Whether it be some play time at the park, sunbathing at the beach or pool or just sharing some sweet treats with one another, it really is hard to beat summertime with my family here in Hawaii – especially when your home town is a playground all on its own. It’s easy to get wrapped up and taken with every day life that keeps us busy and on our toes, but having good ol’ fashion family time is priceless.
On the first official day of summer, June 20, HERSHEY’S will set out to remind people that happiness is a choice and sweeten their day by celebrating “Hello Happy Moments” – the intimate, individual and personal moments of happy that we choose each and every day, which build connections and create memories that last a lifetime. Creating memories with fun, unexpected, happy moments with our children are what we look forward to.
Time with one another to enjoy happy moments in our lives is priceless and stepping away from your computer and phone or work with just a few moments of fun is worth every second. It always amazes me at how fast time flies and happy moments with my sons and husband are so important to me. It is so important for our family to choose happiness each and every single day and make each moment count! Whether you are sharing a sweet delectable treat with your favorite littles or a chocolate HERSHEY’S KISS this summer, CHOOSE HAPPINESS!
Share a “Kiss” with a loved one!
From my family to yours, we wish you the best, most wonderful summer. May every moment you experience leave lasting memories of happiness. Happy Summer!
Summer break is in full swing in our household and all three boys are home from school. Between sports and summer camps, we are currently at a point in summer where we are in between the hectic and still getting used to having a full household all hours of the day. As a family, we are spending our time engaging with one another and as a mom who works from home, I’m spending a lot of time entertaining the littles. When I need a little down time for myself, some quiet time to collect my thoughts from the day or just time to get work done, I like to pull out the trusty phone or tablet and let the boys explore some of my favorite Android apps to keep them busy. Did I mention these apps are free (really, actually free) and it not only keeps the littles entertained, but the hubby and I too have fun with it too. Today I’m going to share with you our top apps for Kids (and, for the whole family)… so read on to learn more.
As a family, we have absolutely been loving Amazon Underground App for Android Phones. With apps to download for free directly to your phone or tablet, you can access a plethora of games, learning and education apps. The Amazon Underground app for Android smartphones includes enhanced features and access to content that isn’t available on the Amazon Shopping app found on Google Play. These additional features include Amazon Video and 100% free apps and games. As a Prime member, I’m slowly learning all the benefits that come with Prime and trying to utilize each one. With access to a variety of games and books for reading on Kindle as well as different add-ons and Amazon Video, the Amazon Underground app helps to make everything available at the touch of the screen and at my fingertips. So – let’s get right into it, shall we? Here are five of the top apps that my family loves and enjoys.
Amazon Video – Of course, I mentioned this above so I definitely had to include it. Like I said before, this is a great app to have if you already are an Amazon Prime Member. We use Amazon Video to get caught up on some of our favorite TV shows or to watch movies, all from our phone and tablets. What makes it so great is that the boys can watch their favorite educational shows while in the car on the go or while we are waiting in line at the store. It’s convenient and a wonderful tool to have.
Cut the Rope 2 – The sequel to the original game – Cut the Rope, this game is literally fun for the whole family. There are quite a few of these games in the Amazon Underground App store and we enjoy them all, but something about this game is addicting and we love to take turns as a family to see who can beat the previous high score. The littles absolutely love it and I love that it’s easy to use and navigate for all ages.
Jigsaw Puzzle – This awesome app offers over 10,000 free puzzles to play. Unlike a real Jigsaw puzzle where pieces can get everywhere and lost while completing your picture, the digital version of is fun for the whole family. You can choose from 4 to 400 pieces and its as easy as using your finger to move the pieces around to assemble. This is especially fun for road trips or summer vacation travels. I love puzzles as do my children because they keep our brains and mind occupied while on a long plane right – but the traditional jigsaw puzzle is not travel friendly. This app gives you all the fun without the hassle.
Sonic Dash – Well, I couldn’t possibly not include a Sonic the Hedgehog Game. While it dates me since Sonic is from my childhood, it’s a game that everyone in my family enjoys. Collect as many coins as you guide Sonic through the various obstacle courses while avoiding his arch enemies. This game is addicting, it brings back childhood memories and it’s something we all love to play.
Handy Photo by ADVA Soft – This app isn’t the traditional “kid friendly app” but I thought it was worth the mention. Since technology has been really improving with leaps and bounds, I find myself doing EVERYTHING on my phone from taking photos and videos to editing them directly on my phone’s interface. Handy Photo is a great app that really is easy to use and takes your editing prowess to new levels. If you are someone that loves photo editing and cropping objects within your image, you will definitely love this one. This is probably more for adults or the teens that have a passion for imagery, but I think it’s a great addition. Especially if you are that mother that pulls out your phone or tablet for those special moments you capture – you’ll enjoy this one.
The Amazon Underground app combines Amazon’s best mobile shopping experience with instant streaming of Amazon Instant Video PLUS 100% free apps, games, and even in-app items. Unlimited lives, levels, upgrades – everything! It’s awesome that you can watch your favorite movies and TV shows from Amazon Video on your Android phone as well as enjoy 100% free apps and games only from Amazon Underground. With apps and game users fed up due to Micro-transactions, paid upgrades and waiting times now the new norm for customers of “other” App and Play Stores, Amazon Underground is making mobile app and gaming a great experience to enjoy once again.
Now keep in mind, I have only provided my family and I’s Top 5 apps that we enjoy through Amazon Underground. However, there are so many options for apps and games that it will keep your family busy for hours looking for and downloading the ones you will all love and enjoy. Remember, 100% free apps, games and in-app items are available through Amazon Underground so take your time checking out the app and see what it has to offer.
Want to check out Amazon Underground and download the app for yourself? Download the Amazon Underground app from your Android smartphone Click here. If you’re reading this on a laptop? Go HERE and follow the on-screen instructions.
*The Amazon Underground app is generally compatible with all Android phones that run Android version 4.0 or greater. Amazon Underground is only supported on 5th Generation (2012 – newer) and newer Fire tablets, and Android phones.

When it comes to skin care and the tools I use, I’m kind of a snob. I have used various different tools from all kinds of brands and while some worked for me, not all of them were “holy grail” products. Over the years, I have talked about the Michael Todd Soniclear and how this unit has made a difference in my skin cleansing and today I share with you a fun new print and some details on another one. Used in combination with my Luna, the Soniclear is a unit I absolutely love and enjoy and if you haven’t tried it already – I highly suggest you check it out.
Today I’m going to chit chat with you about the on-the-go companion… the Michael Todd Soniclear Petite. I have the one in English Garden (as well as the Melon) and like the other units I own, I find that I get just as much use out of this one. What makes this one so fun and unique is that it is a little smaller than the standard size or the Elite but has all the greatness we know and love from those particular sizes in a compact size perfect for travel. Retailing for $89 on Amazon, the Soniclear Petite comes with the Waterproof Rechargeable Sonic Control Handle, 1 USB charger (perfect for travel or charging on the go) which magnetically attaches to the handle, 1 charging/storage cradle, 1 antimicrobial Face brush attachment. The Separate wall plug is not included – but I use my existing phone plugs to use the USB charger.
So what makes the Soniclear Petite so awesome?
The Soniclear Petite is a Sonic Powered Facial Cleansing Brush System. It is sonic powered and has antimicrobial technology that helps to guard against bacteria formation on your brush heads. This awesome technology makes it the best and most ideal cleansing brush for any skin type or concern. Each individual brush bristle is buffed at the time of manufacture to prevent scratching or irritation on the skin. You get three speed settings which allow you to fully customize the cleansing experience to fit your needs and skin concerns and the unit is full water-resistant and submersible. What I love is the the Soniclear Petite is the perfect travel companion, allowing you to recharge your “rechargeable” battery giving you two hours of battery life per charge. And, the Soniclear Petite is available in a variety of different colors and patterns to suit your personality.
Each Soniclear also includes a cleansing timer, that helps to standardize your cleansing experience for daily cleaning and exfoliation. This is essential so that you are not concentrating the unit in one area for too long at any given time. The timer will go off and beep letting you know to move on to the next spot on your face. If you have sensitive skin like me, you may want to start off using this unit just a few times a week as I cannot use this product every day due to my skin sensitivities.
As I have mentioned before, Soniclear has an Antimicrobial Face Brush Head which means that it has a built-in antimicrobial product protection. The bristle tips are perfectly buffed to prevent scratching and irritation and the brush head only needs to be replaced every six months. The costs for the replacement head is reasonably priced too, $25.00 – $30 to replace your brush head every six months is a reasonably priced investment considering the results you get with this brush.
With a plethora of different attachments for your unit, the Soniclear Petite or full sized Soniclear is a great tool to have. I highly suggest checking it out and seeing the difference. If you have used Clarisonic before and have had issues with skin sensitivities, try the Soniclear. I have had difficulties with the Clarisonic before and found that while I can’t use the Soniclear everyday, I definitely get great use out of the unit without having issues with my skin. I love it and use it several times a week as a part of my skin care routine. This product has been such a great addition to my skin cleansing, I have purchased several and have even given them away as gifts to friends and family. It’s a tool I highly suggest and I know that if you try it, you will enjoy it too.
You can purchase your Soniclear Petite from Michael Todd on Amazon here and via their website here.
How about you, have you tried the Soniclear Petite or Elite before? If so, what are your thoughts on it?

Now, it’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of Jordana Cosmetics. While I haven’t tried every single thing sold by the brand, I love and enjoy many of the products that they offer like their Easyliner for eyes and lips, their Modern Matte Lipsticks, 12 Hour Made to Last Liquid Eyeliner Pencils (absolute favorite) and Best Lash Extreme Volumizing Mascara (hands down holy grail product), to name a few. Jordana’s products are not only affordable, but they really are well made. If you’ve been following me a while, you may have seen the 12 Hour Made to Last Liquid Eyeliner Pencils and Best Lash Extreme in various looks and tutorials over the last several years.
Recently, I walked into my local Walgreens and much to my amazement I seen a Jordana display in the “new products section” with goodies I needed to get my hands on. I was a bit bummed as I really didn’t see these talked about much yet (where have I been lately, huh? lol) and the display was a bit picked through already, leaving me with three colors of the new Sweet Cream Matte Liquid Lip Color and two colors of the Made to Last Liquid Eyeshadow. Today I’m going to be sharing my thoughts on each of these, swatches and more – so read on if you’re interested in the details. Not into reading today? Don’t worry – I also have a video you can watch that details all of the same stuff so you can watch that video here.
The first product set I’m going to talk about is the Jordana Made to Last Liquid Eyeshadows (Net. wt. 0.23 oz / 6.5g). These liquid eye shadows come in at least six different neutral type shades (by neutral I mean shades in brown hues, golds, champagnes and bronze). They retail on Jordana’s website for $4.99 but I did buy mine for $3.99 at my local Walgreens. These interesting eye shadows have a smooth liquid feel that really melts onto the lid and are saturated with vibrant, show stopping color. Each shade that I have seen so far has a metallic / shimmery look to them which Jordana states that each shadow is decorated with light-reflecting pearls. Jordana says that these are stay-all-day shadow that is crease-proof and water resistant.
These liquid eye shadows have an interesting applicator. The shape reminds me of that of an arrow head but I was amazed at how nicely it applied, with it’s pointed tip I was able to get product into my inner corner of my eye with ease. The formula of the eyeshadow is very liquid like but blendable. It’s creamy but still has more of a liquid like texture over cream and I really like that it has a built in applicator. Honestly, I love the color range and love how easy it is to not only apply but perfect for applying your eyeshadow on the go. Jordana states that this is crease-proof and water-resistant, but I honestly didn’t experience such. I must apply a light layer to keep from the product creasing (even over eye shadow primer) and it didn’t seem water resistant to me because when my eyes teared, glitter got everywhere. This does offer quite a bit of glitter left behind on the eye and while it didn’t hurt or bother my sensitive eyes as all (it is a nice cosmetic grade type of glitter – small and doesn’t hurt the eye) I figured I would let you know.
The colors I got were Dusk Till Bronze (05) and Immortal Metal (03). Each of these shades is gorgeous and really make for a stunning combination on the eye. While I did get creasing when using this product, I found that the lighter the application (maybe using a synthetic eye shadow brush) will help with that issue. But using directly out of the tube with the included applicator is a bit hard to work with the product since so much comes out on the applicator at first. I still really enjoy these products and plan to make much more use out of them… since they are perfect for days when I want to put on makeup and a little sparkle, but need to be quick. These are convenient and very very pigmented in one swipe. At the price point, I think they are surely worth checking them out and I plan to pick up a few more shades.
Do you consider yourself more of a lippy lover than an eyeshadow addict? Well then, let’s talk about the Jordana Sweet Cream Matte Liquid Lip Color (Net. Wt. 0.11oz / 3g) which retails for $4.99 on Jordana’s website and I purchased mine at Walgreens for the same price. The website shows that there are 12 colors available and I picked up three (very bold) shades to try out. These liquid lip colors are pretty interesting in that they not only have a sweet scent to them, but the ones I have literally smell like their respective names. I don’t think they have much of a flavor to them on the lips though. These lip colors start off as a liquid when applied to your pout and melt and dry down into a matte finish. It feels really nice on the lips, not drying as I would have expected from a liquid lipstick that is under $5.00. It feels mousse and cream like when applied to the lips and I love that they are infused with a drop of Vitamin A to keep them comfortable while wearing. They do dry down matte but I still find that they don’t settle into the lines of my lips as much as other liquid lipsticks do.
The applicator that comes with the liquid lip color has an interesting curve to it – which oddly makes application a lot easier than I thought it would. It hugs the lips nicely and spreads the color fairly evenly in one swipe. You get kapow and bam color in one swipe and what I love about this liquid lipstick is that you can easily layer the color without funky bunching or odd looking pigmentation like other liquid lipsticks can do. It can take about a minute for the lipstick to dry down to a matte finish depending on the thickness of the coats you applied to your lips but I don’t find that it bothers me much.
The only colors that were available in the display at my local Walgreens were Mango Sorbet (05), Raspberry Tart (03) and Mixed Berry Souffle (04) which were the shades I picked up. They are quite bold as you can see from the swatches above. Each swatch is one swipe of the wand onto my hand and as you can see they are very pigmented and have high saturated color. These are said to be a waterproof formula and I do notice that they will last on my lips for hours. If I don’t really eat or drink anything, I could easily get 8 hours of wear time… if I do drink or eat (especially if oily) the color may fade slightly or may start to come off a bit on the insides of my lips, but ultimately – the wear still looks fairly even and not funky like other lip colors can do. Oh – did I mention reapplying? That is one thing I love about this lip color… reapplying is great. You can easily go back, reapply color in the parts it wore off and it looks like a fresh new coat… no funky bleeding, blending or anything of the sort like you can expect from a traditional liquid lip color. There is no balling up or cracking and definitely not weird discoloration so I’m really loving this.
I’m definitely looking to pick up more shades and I hope Jordana has a plethora available at local stores soon. These liquid lip colors are really comfortable on the lips once they dry down and I love the feel of them. They offer great coverage on the lips, bright pigmentation and I can’t wait to get my hands on more colors soon.
Overall – I’m quite impressed with both the Jordana Made to Last Liquid Eyeshadows and the Jordana Sweet Cream Matte Liquid Lip Colors. Considering the price point, you could easily collect all of the shades and have yourself a grand time with each. If you had to choose between the shadow and the lipsticks, I say go for the lipsticks – both work well but the lipsticks… Jordana really hit it out of the ball park with this one… they are phenomenal. I have a liquid lipstick collection of probably over 40 from different brands both affordable and highend and I’m loving loving these from Jordana. For an affordable product, I like that they still offer quality. Each product is Made in the USA which is awesome and Jordana is a cruelty-free brand. I hope Jordana comes out with many more shades of both and that they are permanent items in their line because I’ll be sure to collect them all.

While the planner craze may be at its highest at the moment, the fact of the matter is – I’ve been a paper planner and addict since before graduating from high school. I find a way to sync my paper with my electronic planners, but just find it so rewarding to see things written down and fulfilling my tasks when I do. About two years ago I was introduced to the KIT Life Planner, otherwise known as Keeping It Together planner and it easily became one of my favorites. I reviewed this planner then and after a year on KIT Life hiatus, I have picked up another one and am using it as my desk planner for 2016. Today I am sharing with you my thoughts and whether or not I still have a love for this beast or not.
The Keeping It Together 2016 Planner (also known as the KIT Life Planner which is what I will refer to moving forward) is a beast of a planner offering you a month on two page spread as well as a day per page spread. It retails for $55.00 (currently on sale for $50) and is a gorgeous and well put together creation by a team of ladies whose mission is to “Do More, Be More, Give More each and every day!” This awesome and highly customizable tool (planner) is not only stunning, fun and girly, but it helps you to keep up with all your day to day essentials, task lists, appointments and so much more making it a one stop for all your daily needs. With areas to prioritize your day to gratitude, nutrition, fitness and goal settings – even meal planning, you literally have everything on one page to get it all done and so much more.
I am the type of person that really needs a lot of room in a planner and while traditional planners and calendars do serve their purpose with me, I love having “day per page” organizers because they give me the room to write and plan out my day as I need. The KIT Life Planner offers spaces for inspiration – if you know me, you know I’m a big “quote” person and I don’t need to look up a quote each day – because the KIT Life Planner has one printed on each day for reference. I also love to track my water intake (which you can do in the provided slot) as well as add a plethora of notes, to-do lists and so much more. While this planner is big and a bit bulky, making it a challenge to carry around some what in my purse, I leave it on my desk and use it as my go-to desk planner for notes, lists and more.
Some of the additions to this planner that I don’t recall in that one from 2014 are:
Quarterly Check-in Pages
Peek at the Week
Side by Side Budgeting Tools
Occasions to Celebrate
Fit & Fab Tips
What’s Cooking… Meal or Dinner Planner per page
The design on each page and covers is so lively, fun and girly. If you know me, you know that I’m a huge fan of Hello Kitty and Lisa Frank so the colors just resonate to me and make me happy and cheerful. It’s part of this planner offers you a variety of options to not only be productive, but to bring more of that positive outlook that keeps us on track in our lives. KIT Life’s Team had a mission to optimize your life with pizzazz but to remain focused on the results.
So let’s get into the details of the planner – because we all love details… right?
This planner weighs approximately 2.30 lbs, though it is pretty lightweight when you consider what you have inside of this beast. For the most part it is available for shipment within 2 business days – I literally received my planner in 4 days after placing my order. Customer service is fabulous! I have never had any issues with the times I have communicated with the team and they respond promptly which is awesome. The planner is approximately 10 1/2 inches wide by 9 inches tall and about 1 1/4 inch thick. In comparison with my Erin Condren, this planner is visibly shorter and definitely thicker and wider. It has some weight to it – so that is the reason why I leave it at home on my desk. But if I have to carry it with me (which I do at least once a week) I have no issue with taking it along.
The pages are thick and well made. I have used a variety of pens without any issues of bleeding. Currently I’m using my Pilot G2 Pens in many colors, Staedtler Triplus Fineliners and Paper Mate Flair pens and each write smoothly and sit nicely on the surface of the paper without bleeding. Each pen dries fairly quickly on the paper as well as I don’t have issue with smudging. The tabs on the planner are also well made and have a laminated coating which make them very durable for daily use and the planner cover has a great thick lamination which makes it sturdy as well. In the 2014 planner my coil was plastic and it seems that for 2016 it is more of a wire coil with movement. There is some wiggle room in the coil and it is not has sturdy as that from the Erin Condren, but nonetheless, it’s still well made and there is an ease to turning pages, etc. The Planner cover is not interchangeable as you would expect from other similar planners, but I’m sure you could DIY one and put a new one on, as I am in the process of doing right now.
While ordering your planner you can decide to add in a few extras like note pages or a direct sales add in for an additional cost. There are also a variety of planner accessories to choose from like the Planner Dashboard (which allows you to clip into your coils and change out as you need), To Do Dashboard Inserts (these go into the clip in dashboard), and Organizational, Nutrition Tracker and Event Stickers.
While I have the Classic Edition, there is also a Crown Edition which retails for $65.00 (currently sold out) and a Direct Sales Planner which is perfect for those of you in that type of industry.
If you are a planner lover or someone who likes to stay organized, I highly suggest checking out the KIT Life Planner. Those that use their planners for strictly decorating may find that this planner is too big for you or too cumbersome, but as someone who literally needs a to do list to keep me on track, the KIT Life Planner offers all of that and so much more. With so many planners on the market today, I find myself looking for one that will not only be functional – but offer me some flare and happiness and that is why I love the KIT Life Planner so much. There are so many ways to customize this to give that extra touch of personalization if that is what you are looking for. As a mother who really utilizes the space in this planner, I am really finding that it is one I truly enjoy.
My video review and walk through of the KIT Life Planner
Some suggestions I have for a few changes:
I would love to see more cover options available. Whether it is to DIY our own or purchase directly from KIT Life – I would love that option as I love changing out my covers like I change my mood… lol.
A small section with bullet points or something along those lines (hearts would be cute) that I can list a few appointments or an open time schedule where I can add in appointments for the day. I do own stamps and can do it myself, but I love when it is readily available.
Would love to see two lines for the meal section. The one line works well for dinner planning, which is what my family does together most weekdays – but would love some extra space for additional planning.
I would love love to see KIT Life come up with a week on two page design (similar to that of Erin Condren). I hate to compare the two but they are so similar and referencing it easiest that way. I take my Erin Condren with me on the go because it allows me to have my family’s schedule on the go as well as give me an opportunity to stay organized and take notes when needed. If KIT Life came out with a planner that offered smaller spacing for planning and organization while fitting a full week on two pages, I think it would really be a great addition to their line. I would purchase the full sized and the smaller version because I love them so much that it would allow me to have both at my finger tips. If they do decide to go the route of a week on two page spread – I would love to see some time slots or bullet points in there as well for planning appointments, it would make a wonderful and usable design. I have ideas KIT Life, so let me know if you want to hear them 🙂
Lastly, I would love to see KIT Life design something for bloggers and YouTubers. I currently use my own designed inserts or pages to track certain things with my blog and YouTube channel, but I would love an option for something along this line for the future.
Overall – I can’t rave enough about this planner. Yes, as a mother – I think this is perfect because it allows me great organization for my family, but I love writing in all these notes on the fly and have them readily available and this planner really gives me the space to be able to do so. It is a little large, but I think overall – that doesn’t change how much I enjoy it.
What about you? Have you heard of the KIT Life Planner before? If so, is this something you think you could consider purchasing for yourself or someone you know for planning and organization? Are you a planner? If so – what planner do you use?
Stop on by and check out my video where I walk you through the pages of the planner and provide my thoughts. You can see this video here. You can purchase this planner, the accessories and add ons at: http://kitlife.net/
Disclaimer: This product was purchased with my own money, however KIT Life did provide me with a few accessories / freebies and a discount on this planner as I have worked with them in the past. All opinions are my own, 100% honest and unbiased, as with anything on this site. I was not paid to provide my thoughts.
With Spring in full swing and Summer right around the bend, I’ve already started making easy and quick recipes for my family that are refreshing and delicious. A favorite in our house is my easy no bake strawberry shortcake. I’ll be honest, for years I had thought that I was the genius behind this recipe, but I found out over the years that I’m not the only one who does similar, so I can’t take all the credit for this.
This delicious recipe is the perfect quick treat for Spring and Summer because it tastes refreshing and is perfect for a warm or humid day. It’s easy to make and I love to get the kids involved in creating it. This recipe displays great in a trifle bowl, so if you are looking to host a party or bring it as a dish, definitely look into a trifle bowl for presentation and WOW your friends and family. But since I wanted to make a treat for the boys, I opted for a half pan and it was ready for them to devour. So, without further adieu, let’s make this scrumptious delicious yummy treat.

Step by Step walk through video
1 1/2 – 2 loaves Sara Lee Pound Cake
16 oz ripe strawberries (approximately 16-18 medium/large strawberries)
2 8oz. containers Cool Whip (it is up to you if you want Original, Lite or Fat Free)
2 tbl spoons Granulated sugar (more or less depending on your preference)
1 half pan foil pan (11 3/4 x 9 3/8 in) or 2 standard size trifle bowls
YIELD: This recipe will yield one half pan (foil pan 11 3/4 x 9 3/8 in) or two standard size trifle bowls. This will feed approximately 12-15 people depending on the size of the serving.
PREP TIME and COOK TIME: This is a no-bake recipe and the prep is the time for assembling the dish as well. With slicing the strawberries as well as cutting up the pound cake and then assembly, you are looking at about 15-20 minutes total.
Cut up your pound cake into bite size pieces.
Wash strawberries. Remove stem and slice into your desired size.
In a bowl, add sliced strawberries and sugar and mix well until all berries are macerated and each berry is coated. (The berries will look a little darker in shade and you will notice more strawberry juice in the bowl)
Stir up and mix your cool whip in it’s container so that it is smooth and blended. Do not over blend – the reason behind mixing is to make sure it is smooth and not frozen in the middle (if you are using a frozen whipped topping).
Lay each ingredient in your pan or trifle bowl. Starting with the pound cake – add your bite size pieces to the bottom layer. Next, add your strawberries – each ingredient does not have to completely fill the layer as it will all come together in the end. Finally, the cool whip – spread the cool whip onto the strawberries until smooth and even.
Repeat each step of layering the ingredients till you reach the top of your bowl or pan. Make sure to leave a small amount of sliced strawberries on the side so you can top your creation for decoration. The strawberries on top will also be part of the presentation so those you are feeding know that it is some form of strawberry cake.
Serve & Enjoy!
This particular strawberry shortcake is perfect for little eaters like children and displays beautifully in a trifle bowl. It really is more like a trifle type and is so quick to assemble and make, it’s great for those last minute dishes you need to make for a party.
