I have tried many different types of masks over the last few years for helping with my skin care regimen.  From sheet masks, to clay and charcoal and everything in between, I have tried many promising to clear my skin of it’s dirt and oils, clean my skin and even firm and reduce my pore size… and while many of them work and work well, I have sensitivity issues that leave my skin breaking out after or my Eczema flaring up.  I love using masks because they really leave my skin feeling so clean and soft, but I don’t like the effects that some of them can offer.  I don’t blame the products themselves, but my own skin since it is so sensitive, I really have to be careful with what I choose.  Today I share with you my thoughts on the Valentia Skin Detoxifying Clay Mask and it’s benefits for me during the summer months.

The Valentia Skin Detoxifying Clay Mask ($25.00 / 4 fl.oz. – 120 mL) is an affordable clay mask that is suitable for all skin types.  It’s alcohol and paraben free and offers 98% natural ingredients to help draw out impurities, improve skin tone, reduce pore size and firm and strengthen skin.  A natural kaolin and botanical based mask – the Valentia Skin Detoxifying Clay Mask gently removes excess dirt and oil while it deeply cleanses and exfoliates the skin to reveal softer and smoother skin.

I have been using this mask in combination with a few others that I enjoy, but the difference between this one and those is that I can use this one much more frequently then I am able to use those.  Often times, other masks leave my skin dry (and I already have dry skin) and because of this it causes my Eczema to flare up.  Dealing with an Eczema flare up may seem like no big deal to some, but it’s painful and always happens on my face, so it leaves me feeling uncomfortable for two weeks or longer sometimes.  The Valentia Skin Detoxifying Clay Mask didn’t cause me any issues while using it but did clean out the impurities in my face, brighten my skin tone while evening out the color and reduced my pore size, having seen results after the second use.  I noticed firmer skin on my face after the first use and my skin overall just looks more vibrant.

The Valentia mask looks like your traditional Kaolin clay mask – similar color to what I have seen and used before.  It’s light in texture and I apply my mask using a traditional foundation brush (the paint brush looking one) so that I get even application each time.  You can use this mask generously when applying, but must stay away from the eye area.  I leave the mask on for 15-20 minutes or until the mask dries – so I usually apply it when I put on my hair mask prior to taking a shower and it works well.  Removing the mask is easy – simply using a damp cloth and warm water, I gently wipe the mask away or with my finger tips and some water, I use circular motions to remove the mask.  Since the mask has natural fibers, it helps to slough off dead skin and gently exfoliate your face leaving it smooth and soft.

As the mask dries on my skin, it starts to harden and tighten.  You can feel a tingle sensation sometimes – not necessarily a burning at all.  I also use the mask on my husband and he says that he can feel the tingle sometimes too, but it never burns or feels uncomfortable.  Since the summer months are so much warmer, I like to use masks that really cleanse the skin, leaving it clean of dirt and oil that the skin has from sweat and the heat.  This mask definitely accomplishes this and I just love that my skin is left looking so fresh and baby soft.  Furthermore, it’s easy to use and you get A LOT of product for the price point.

  • Key Ingredients: – Kaolin Clay:Clay minerals draw impurities, improve skin tone, and tighten pores for smoother firmer skin. – Plant Stem Cells:Naturally decreases the level of pro-aging toxins and works to soother the skin, reduce redness, and improve evenness.– Spirulina:A botanical stimulant full of vitamins that hydrates the skins surface and contributes to tissue regeneration of the skin.– CoQ10:Lessens the appearance of wrinkles by reducing free radical damage and stimulating health collagen production.

    – Hibiscus & Cranberry Fibers:Both lend their anti-aging properties to firm and reinforce the skin, helping to reduce the creation of new wrinkles.

I’ve been a huge fan of Valentia skin care having tried several of their products before and I honestly love this one.  If a skin care product works, but doesn’t cause me an bad reactions – I’m completely sold.  I have a huge arsenal of masks and try to use each on sparingly because it can really cause my Eczema to be bad, but this one – I can use it once a week, sometimes twice and not have any issues.  That’s a big deal in my book.  Valentia products are made in the USA and come from a brand that is Cruelty Free.  Valentia products are affordable and I’ve grown to love the brand and include them in my skin care routine consistently.  I’ve even repurchased several of their products many times.  If you are looking for a mask that really leaves your skin feeling and looking great, but one that won’t break the bank – I think this would be a great one for you.  I love when I have the mask on because I literally feel like my skin is just getting clean and my impurities are getting pulled out.  It’s awesome.

Have you tried anything from Valentia Skin Care before?  If so – what have you tried and what are your thoughts?  Have you tried the Valentia Skin Detoxifying Clay Mask before?  If so – what are your thoughts, if not – do you think it’s something you could use?

I have loved the skincare products I’ve tried from Valentia. Tho I usually avoid clay masks at this stage of the game, this one sounds gentle. I used to love that hardens on my face feeling coz when I’d wash it off, my skin would feel and look so great

    • Do you use charcoal masks? Charcoal masks tend to be a bit brutal on me, whereas clay masks my skin can handle much easier. I love the one from Derma E – but can only use that charcoal mask 2x a month or less… because if I use too much, my Eczema gets so bad that it causes a flare up for weeks… more on that next week in my post. But, I think this one is quite gentle. The supple mask is really nice too – the orange one… I think you may like that one if you didn’t try it already.

  2. I love clay masks! This sounds amazing, and I love the fact that it made your skin feel tightened after the 1st use! Promising! <3

This is such a great mask, and so far I have really loved everything that I have tried from Valentia!

  4. I haven’t had the chance to use Valentina yet though I’d like to. I love a mud mask in the warm months to degrease my skin and this looks like a good one.

  5. I like this mask. I expected it to dry my skin out but happily, it didn’t. I love how this works as a mask and as an exfoliant.

I read so many nice things about this brand. I should try this next, esp this clay mask!

I tend not to use clay masks very often (maybe once or twice a month) just because they tend to leave my skin dry, but this sounds like a really great option.
