I have been doing really well on my Makeup Spending Challenge (you can read more about it here) so that is why you haven’t been seeing many posts on new cosmetics lately.  However, when I got the email for ColourPop’s Spring release, I literally couldn’t contain my excitement and I couldn’t resist.  I was particularly taken by one of the five shades so I figured I would get at least four for my collection.  Now, if you have been following me a while – you know that when it comes to ColourPop I have quite an addiction – especially for the shadows… so I knew it would be a warranted purchase… lol.

The colors I choose and ordered were:  Luckfully, Wattles, Flower Shop and Belladonna Lilly.  When I seen Belladonna Lily I thought instantly of my friend Beth (Pearlznlacebybeth.com) because she wears that type of shade so nicely and of course, Flower Shop was a love at first site.  Let’s take a deeper look at each shade, shall we?

Luckfully is a bright cobalt blue with a pearlized finish.  It’s absolutely gorgeous and perfect for deepening out the crease or used all over the lid for a stunning look.  This shadow does stain the lids a little though… so I would suggest using an eye shadow primer underneath and prior to applying the shadow to your eyes lids.

Wattles is described as a dusty beige pink in a satin finish.  I actually think the color reminds me of a dusty rose with a brown undertone… but that’s just me putting in my own input.  This is a gorgeous shadow to use in the crease or as a transition shade and also works well on the lid or blended onto the lower lash line.  It has a gorgeous sheen that looks like it has a bit of shimmer, but not glittery.

Flower shop is my favorite out of the four.  It reminds me of MAC’s steamy, though I would not consider it a dupe, it just reminds me of it.  It is described as a vibrant blue green with a soft gold pearl on top and a pearlized finish.  To me, it reminds me of a mermaid or her tail.  It’s a gorgeous shade of teal and turquoise blend with a gold/silver shift… or at least, that’s my take on it.

Belladonna Lily is a gorgeous pastel shade.  Described as a soft pastel aqua in a matte finish – this shadow would make a great base for Flower Shop or used on it’s own.  It has that pastel but powdery aqua look and feel to it and would be one of those shades perfect for Spring.  Used with Wattles or any of the other shades I picked up, I think this would make a great addition to any eye look this Spring or Summer.

If you are like me and love a great teal shade, I highly suggest picking up Flower Shop.  I have mentioned this quite a few times already, but it is my favorite color out of the four I picked up.  I don’t have any eye looks to share with you at this time, but I cant’ wait to share some with you once I start feeling a little better, so stay tuned for those.

Flowers, fruits and sunshine, oh my… Spring is on it’s way and I can already smell the flora of Hawaii getting ready to bloom.  Together with The Beauty Blogger Collaboration, I bring to you my list of Favorite Spring Fragrances for 2015.

Honey's Favorite Spring Fragrances

It’s well known that I’m a sugary scent lover and I don’t tend to stray far from the scent I’ve been profiled for… but I also like clean scents, floras and fruity notes and tend to pull for those most during the Spring months.

Pure DKNY Fragrance

DKNY is a staple in my fragrance book and a scent I use year round but more during the spring and summer seasons since it smells clean and fresh.  With notes like freesia, jasmine, lotus, white amber and rose – this scent smells fresh and clean while still offering a flirty and girly to the mix.

Taylor Swift Wonderstruck

I’m not gonna lie, though I did smell a sample of this perfume and enjoyed it, I bought Taylor Swifts Wonderstruck because I was absolutely in love with the packaging.  We all know I love purple and I just knew I had to have this.  But this perfume is so much more than just a cute bottle.  Wonderstruck offers such a soft, feminine touch to what can often be a hard exterior on me.  With notes like raspberry, black berry, peach and vanilla, I absolutely love the fruity side of this perfume.

Coach Love Fragrance

It’s no secret that I am a huge Coach fan and I have always enjoyed their fragrances, but Coach Love is a fragrance I consider a favorite during Spring and year round.  Since this perfume includes Patchouli, I didn’t think I would like it – but with a blend of Gardenia, Violet, Vanilla and Caramel as well as musk and sandalwood, everything seems to come together perfectly and fits my scent favorites exactly.

Delicious Cotton Candy Perfume

Anyone who knows me, knows that I’m a huge fan of Pink Sugar by Aquolina, so it comes to no surprise that I would love Delicious Cotton Candy by Gale Hayman.  This became a favorite of mine after stumbling into it at my local Ross.  Needless to say – I was quite intrigued with the name… Cotton Candy.  Come on now, there is no way I would be able to not try this scent out.  It has become a favorite of mine and while it may be too sugary for some, I love it and a little goes a very long way.  Filled with notes of Cotton Candy, Vanilla, sugar, caramel, strawberries and fruits like orange and plums, this scent is definitely delicious.

Lavanilla Vanilla Coconut perfume

Last but not least is Lavanilla’s Vanilla Coconut.  If you don’t know this already – I lather myself in coconut oil, coconut body butter and all that yumminess each night so mixing two of my very favorite scents together is absolutely divine.  I know, I know… it might be a little too sugary sweet for some, but I can’t help it… my momma didn’t name me Honey because I was sour… lol.  This fragrance includes three favorite scents of mine… Coconut, Madagascar Vanilla and the Tahitian Tiare flower (which I have in my yard about ready to bloom).  It encompasses my favorites while giving me a feeling of sexy and girly.

Honey's Favorite Spring Fragrances

Whether fruity, floral or sweet I think perfumes and fragrances are all a matter taste and preference and I’m finding that scents I didn’t like before, I find I enjoy them now.  I consider myself someone who thinks seasonally – so I really enjoyed putting this post together to share with all of you.  What about you?  What are the scents you are looking forward to using this Spring?

This week I wanted to create a look using products from my May Ipsy Glam Bag – Fresh Picks.  Since the theme is super cute, I thought this would be a great way to show a flirty side of me.  I chose to name my look “My Secret Garden” because I used inspiration from one of my favorite Books and Movies – The Secret Garden.  Spring and Summer remind me of floral scents and flowers in an array of colors.  Purple being my favorite color, I decided a purple and white-gold look would be fitting for a soft and wearable creation.  It kind of reminds me of the Jacaranda that grow so heavily here in the Spring time and grace our roads and lawns with beautiful lavender flowers.

The Secret Garden inspired Makeup using Ipsy Glam bag

I have a really hard time making up my mind – so I thought I would use a few different florals to style my  pictures.  Utilizing the goodies I received in my May Ipsy Glam Bag, I created a look that I thought would incorporate the items perfectly.

Many say that my makeup looks all seem to mesh together and look the same, but I like it – because makeup is about style and creativity… and most importantly – it’s about beauty.  Check out my makeup tutorial for this look embedded below or click here to watch it directly on YouTube.  A list of products used can be found in this post.  I hope you enjoy!

The last few days had me rummaging through my nail polish stash looking for a nice Orange shade that I knew I wanted to wear – especially now that it is spring.  Considering I have a reasonably large collection of polishes, I assumed I would find a shade that fit my fancy – but I guess that wasn’t the case.  Luckily – I came across the shade Pretty In Peach by Maybelline Color Show Collection at my local CVS and since the polish was under $4.00 – it was my first choice over other brands like Essie and Sally Hansen which was a good $5.00 more in price.

Pretty in Peach

I have been pretty impressed with the Maybelline Color Show Nail polishes lately.  I now have 4 of them, 3 of which are toppers – but still… I’m pretty happy with their color payoff as well as their price point.  I’m excited to pick up a few more shades and test them out.

To achieve this nail look I used Pretty in Peach (Maybelline Color Show – 115) as my base polish – 2 coats total and topped it off with Ciate London’s Speed Coat Pro fast dry top coat.  Of course, I used my Ciate London Flower Mani kit to add the little flowers as my accent nail.  The Pretty in Peach shade was pretty opaque with two coats – which is awesome.

Have you tried any polishes from Maybelline Color Show?  Are any of them going to be a favorite for Spring?

Each and every Season holds a special place in my heart, but Spring is that time of year when I tend to do clothes shopping the most and I’m always looking forward to rocking out cool and comfortable threads.  While my style remains fairly the same each year, I like to add a few things to change it up a bit.  For me… Spring includes a few staples in my wardrobe – Maxi Dresses & Skirts, empire waist knee length dresses (or shorter), denim bermudas, tanks and a few key sandals and accessories to complete a look.

I’ve included a few of my favorite styles that you may see pretty often in my wardrobe.  Who owns over 10 maxi dresses and 8 pairs of denim bermudas?  This lady here!  Living in Hawaii means that Spring and Summer months can bring extreme heat so I like to be comfortable and dress that way specifically.  While many think that style is about the clothes you wear… I believe that Style is all about personality and what makes you feel comfortable and confident.  Being a surfer girl most my life, my Spring and Summer months growing up meant that I was found in a pair of Surf/board shorts and a bikini or rash guard – now that I’m grown up (lol), I like to add my own little flair and spin on it all.  Check out some of the selections I have here so you can get an idea of what I rock during the Spring months.

  • Of course – a Coach bag on my arm is an absolute plus and in most cases a MUST HAVE.  Coach has been a favorite designer brand of mine for years and I just can’t seem to get out of it and move on to other brands.   That goes for accessories that they offer as well.  I adore Coach sunnies (shades) as well as their cute high top sneaks… super adorable and definitely awesome for Spring or Summer.
  • Tank tops, Ribbed Tanks and Graphic tees are an absolute staple in my wardrobe any time of the year – but definitely during the Spring & Summer Season.  While you can catch me in denim shorts or a pair of jeans year round, I tend to rock out a pair of Bermuda shorts during this season more than any other.
  • Maxi dresses and skirts – yes I’m bringing it up AGAIN.  If you have been following my fashion posts the last couple of years, you’ll see that you can find these in several different colors in my wardrobe.  Being a plus sized girl – I will rock out anything that makes me feel confident and comfortable and these are my favorites.
  • Sun dresses, spring dresses… just about any type of dress belongs in my closet.  I have super thick thighs and calves and I’ve been pretty lucky to find dresses that don’t really accentuate the largeness of my calves even if they are two inches above my knee.  They add an extra girly and flirty feel and paired with a cute pair of wedges or heels, they are showstopping.
  • I wouldn’t be “Honey” if I wasn’t caught rocking out a pair of flip flops.  Any brand that is comfortable is a favorite.  Havaianas have been a favorite of mine for years, as well as Old Navy Flip Flops, Roxy and Steve Madden.  If I’m going to be using flip flops (slippas – as we call it in Hawai’i) – they need to be comfortable, otherwise, why bother.  And of course, a great pair of wedges, slip-on sandals or flats is an important addition to my wardrobe.
  • Like I mentioned above… at the end of the day – Rock out what you feel comfortable in.   Spring (and Summer) is all about soaking up the sunlight (don’t forget that SPF) and enjoying the flowers and the breeze.  What ever you decide, make sure it makes you feel confident and awesome!
