This is my third Lip Monthly bag I received so far and I am sharing it with you.  Lip Monthly is another subscription beauty bag that includes majority of lip goodies that you can enjoy.  Here’s what I got in this month’s bag.

Lip Monthly October 2014

REFERRAL LINKS

I really enjoyed the fact that they included a new bag this month – which they stated on their card included in their bag.  It reminds me of a blend between Summer and Halloween for some reason and I think it’s cute.  This month I received five products in my bag – I think I would have gotten one more if I reviewed my September bag, but I didn’t get around to doing so.

This month Lip Monthly wanted to celebrate fall with the perfect shade of nude that you could pair with a smoky eye.  Four lip products and one eye pencil were included and I liked that a lip sugar scrub was included also since winter is when your skin and lips get the most dry.  The monthly subscription costs $10 and there have been a few changes in their packaging since first heard of them.  This month majority of the products included were for the lips, Here is the break down of the products:

Starlook’s Lip Scrub – These lip scrubs retail for 5 for $10 so that means that this one lip scrub we received would be $2.00

Noyah Lip Balm – This balm retails for $3.99 and we received the retail size of this product.

J. Cat Nude Lipstick in Honey Crisp – we received the full size lipstick which retails for $2.99

deVine Lip Shimmer – we received the full size pinot noir which retails for $4.95

LA Girl Eyeliner in Brown black – we received the full size which retails for $3.00

Overall retail value of the bag: $16.93

While the products in the bag still outweigh the cost you pay each month, I am in hopes that future bags will have an increase of value in the products received.  I’m quite excited to try out some of the products, I’ve been using the deVine Lip Shimmer which has a hint of color but is still pretty sheer on me as well as the Noyah Lip Balm which I am liking.  But I think I still expect a little more.  Since this bag is in the early stages, I hope to see some improvement in future bags.

Oh my gosh… I can’t believe it’s Friday already.  Today I have a short post for all of you… my nails for the weekend.  I have been eyeing my Wet n Wild Disturbia now for a few weeks and wanted to create something with Sally Hansen’s Gilty Party.  I just wasn’t sure how I wanted to incorporate the two.  After seeing some of my blogger girlies post their nail stamping I thought it was finally time for me to blow the dust off my stamping kit and have some fun.  So, here are my nails of the week.

nail design

For this nail look I am using Wet n Wild’s Disturbia as my base.  Gilty Party from Sally Hansen was used as the stamping shade.  And I’m using my Konad m63 plate to create the stamping design.  For my top coat I am using Ciate’s Speed Dry Top Coat.  As you can see I’m a bit out of practice as it has been probably a year or two since I pulled out my plates and kit, but I’m glad I did because I forgot how fun it really is.

Hope you are all having a fabulous Friday and sending you lots of hugs for a wonderful weekend.

“Forever & Always!”

Oh Fall… where are you?  Maui is super hot and humid and man I would love some cool chilled air my way, but it just hasn’t been so lately.  It was so warm today that a tank and shorts was on my outfit list… less is better, right? (did I just say that? lol)  So here is my Plus Sized Outfit of the Day…

OOTD Old Navy

You know in Hawaii we rock out flip flops like they are about to be discontinued, lol.  So here is my super quick outfit for going out and tackling Costco with my three sons.  Overall I have to say it was a fun day… we picked up my lil sis and spent a few hours with her while we tackled some errands… overall, I consider it a WIN.

  • Top – Love is Forever Graphic Tank from Old Navy
  • Bottoms – Denim Bermudas/Cut offs from Torrid
  • Flip flops – Guess
  • Watch – Invicta
  • Sunglasses – Maui Jim
  • Necklace – And I always get a lot of questions about my Teddy Bear Necklace.  Sadly I don’t know where it is from, my husband bought me this pendant before we had children, over 10 years ago.  I have heard that some jewelers carry it – but I have not seen it at local stores.

OOTD Old Navy

For my makeup today… I really was aiming to bring Fall into my life, even if it meant I had to do my makeup like Fall was in full swing. lol I also have had my Tamanna palette now for a couple of weeks and each opportunity I have I try to play with new shade combinations and had a few in mind I wanted to pair today. Since I only really wear makeup once a week, I was sure gonna make sure to get some makeup lovin’ in.

FOTD Tamanna Palette

I’ve been working on a review for the Tamanna palette, and hope to have it up soon since I see that it is still available.  It drives me nuts when things are limited edition and I have to run out and get them because I just have to have it, but that also means that by the time I have had it long enough for me to actually state my thoughts on the product… I don’t get around to it.  Ooh – and on another note… have you seen my hair?  I know these pictures don’t show it well, but I went dark again… I’m actually really diggin’ it.

This plus sized girl was all about comfort and cool today.  I have been loving the Old Navy Tees and Tanks that they have been releasing lately and I’m all about a graphic tee if it means I can be comfortable.  I love those types of shirts for underneath my slouchy sweaters especially… now if Fall can just make its way here so I can start using them. lol  Wishing you all a wonderful Aloha Friday and a kick ass weekend.

Smooches.

I absolutely LOVE fairies, nymphs, pixies and mystical creatures.  It is a standing joke in my family that I was born a fairy and left on my parents doorstep to live out my life as a human.  I have a love for the forest and nature unsurpassed by few people and my soul always feels so comforted when I’m surrounded by Mother Nature’s gifts that I know I have fairy blood in my body.  Regardless, I embrace the sparkle, glitter and pixie dust and welcome it all with open hands.  There is nothing wrong with a little magic and mystical thoughts. lol

Each year I look forward to creating my Halloween tutorials and this year I decided I would go with a theme.  For this Theme, I decided to start with Honey, Queen of the Forest Nymphs.  Nymphs are generally regarded as divine spirits, known to animate nature.  Legends depict them as beautiful, young maidens who love to dance and sing.  Found to dwell in mountains and groves, near springs and rivers – they can be found in trees and grottoes and blend in with its forest surroundings.  This year I hope you enjoy the theme I have in store for you starting with the Queen of the Forest Nymph makeup tutorial.

I wanted this look that I created, or any looks I create for that matter to be simple and easy to create.  I tried to use a combination of drugstore and high end products – though the choice of what type of products you use is completely up to you.  My goal was to make this look attainable for anyone to create, but most importantly those that are not able to do face painting or special effects, they can easily create this look with the cosmetics they already had on hand.

Products used:

Benefit Porefessional used to minimize any pores and provide a canvas for the makeup we are going to apply.

Olay Total Effects 7-in-One CC Cream used to perfect my skin tone but also to provide a barrier for my skin against the products I’ll be adding.  Since my skin is sensitive, I wanted to make sure to have a product barrier to help protect against any sensitivities I may encounter.

Coastal Scents Step One Eye Primer used to prime my eye lids from lash line to brow bone and on my lower lash line.

HALLOWEEN MAKEUP - Honey, Queen of the Forest Nymphs Makeup Tutorial

Milani Brow & Eye Highlights in 03.  I used the Natural Taupe side to contour down the side of my nose and under my nose to give it a more defined look.  You can use a cream contour, bronzer or eye shadow or foundation that is a few shades lighter than your skin tone.

NYX Matte Bronzer in deep used to set the cream pencil I just applied as contour and to provide a deeper blended contour for my face.

NYX JESP in Horseradish used as a base for the pigments we will apply.

MAC’s Golden Olive Pigment (if you don’t have this, any golden green shadow will suffice.  I suggest using a loose shadow or pigment as this will allow you to easily apply with your fingers and blend as needed.)

Jordana 12 Hour Made to Last Liquid Eye Liner pencil in 06 Jade Jewel.  This was used as a base on my eyebrows to color and shade them in, define them and so that the shadow I used would adhere.

BH Cosmetics Party Girl Palette:

  1. I used the medium metallic green shade to apply over my brows and create a metallic green eyebrow look.
  2. I used a lighter green shade with metallic flecks to apply to my eyes with a blending brush as a transition shade.
  3. I used a yellow/orange shade to apply to the inner corner of my eye blending with the green in the transition and onto the inner part of my lower lash line.
  4. I used a matte brown shade with a fluffy crease blending brush to apply to my crease.  Blending out well.

NYX Roll On Shimmer in Salmon is applied around the edges of the mask (the green on the face) near the eyes and forehead to provide a little extra glitter.  I also blended this out well with my finger so that there was not a noticeable line.

Starlooks Pigment in Cinnamon Toss was applied with my finger to my eye lids and softly blended.  You can use a brush to apply this but I wanted this look to be simple and using my fingers is simple 🙂

Jordana 12 Hour Made to Last Eye Shadow Pencil in Stay On Black was used as my upper lash line and lower lash line liner.  Later I will go in with the NYC Liquid Eye liner to create the wing tail for my liner.

NYC Liquid Eye Liner to create swirls and dainty little designs that look like vines.  You can decide how you would like to do this, as I mention in the video – I didn’t plan this look out so I kind of just “winged” it where I could to create something that was girly and whimsical.

Queen of the Forest Nymphs

Buxom Lip gloss in White Russian was then applied to the lips to prep application for the MAC Golden Olive Pigment that will be placed on top.

Jordana’s 12 Hour Made to Last Eye Shadow Pencil in Endless Emerald was used to draw out some lines along the edges of the mask applied.  This will be blended out with a dark emerald green shadow from the BH Cosmetics Party Girl Palette and then blended with MAC’s Golden Olive Pigment.

NYX Candy Glitter Liner in Green was then applied in the leaves that I created using the eye liner.  This will add a pop of green that is a different and brighter shade than what I’m using on my face, but it will also add glitter and sparkle.

MAC’s Reflects Antique Gold was then applied with my finger as a part of my highlight on my brow bone and where ever I want to add glitter.  Little side note… if there is only one glitter pigment you could ever get from MAC… this should be it. One of my absolute favorites.

BH Cosmetics Party Girl Palette – I then take a Yellow shade with a fluffy blending brush and apply it to my lower lash line blending down towards the green shades and also apply above my brows – this really gives the look more depth and dimension.

MAC’s Golden Olive Pigment is then applied with my fingers to my lips to create a greenish gold lip shade.

Benefit’s They’re Real Mascara was added to my lashes and Red Cherry Lashes in #5 was applied with KISS Aloe Lash Glue.

Queen of the Forest Nymphs

Once the makeup is complete, I took down my hair and put on my Forest Nymph Crown and the look is complete.  I added a pair of blank wings and I put on a black strapless dress to complete the look.  If you have more time, adding some leaves would be an awesome way stage this look.  You can also sprinkle your pixie dust (glitter) all over to give your look a more whimsical touch.

I hope you enjoyed this look because I enjoyed creating it for you… even if I winged it and really didn’t know what to do until I started doing it.  I look forward to sharing more looks with all of you and thank you to all for your unending support. xo

Some of the products used in this look were sent to me as press samples, PR gifts or for consideration for review however, many of the products used were purchased by me.  Any discussions regarding any of the products mentioned are 100% honest and unbiased and I was not paid to create this look using the products in question.

I have been using Tea Tree Oil for years as a part of my skin care and home needs, even if I’m not necessarily fond of the scent.  Australian Tea Tree Oil or Melaleuca Oil (which is what is was  introduced to me as about 15 years ago) was first introduced to me to help treat my dry scalp due to the fact that I consistently colored or bleached my hair I had dandruff.  While I was not necessarily a fan of the fragrance, I noticed instantly that it helped with that issue and I continued to keep a small bottle on hand in the case other issues arise and while I haven’t had the need to use consistently, it is something I know I can rely on.

Tea Tree Oil

PRESS SAMPLE

Tea Tree Oil is known as one of the most versatile essential oils.  The list of claimed benefits of this product is long and include naturally fighting acne, toenail fungus, lice, yeast infections, skin tags, cold sores, dandruff (I can attest to this one), ringworm, fleas, warts, psoriasis and much more.  Apothecary Extracts 100% Pure Australian Tea Tree Oil (4 fl oz / 118ml – $27.99) has been a great addition in my household and I have been enjoying this product since getting my hands on it.  This particular brand offers their Tea Tree Oil in a Pharmaceutical Grade, which is a huge bonus considering a lot of companies offer watered down versions of this product (I know, I have purchased these before).  I love that this particular product is undiluted and without impurities which allows you to get the benefits of the product in its 100% form.  I haven’t had the chance to test it on a few skin tags I have, but trust that I will be doing this because I want to put it to the test further.  Even after years of keeping this product on hand, I’m still amazed at its continued benefits that I constantly hear about.

Tea Tree Oil

One thing I have used Tea Tree Oil for over the years like I mentioned, is for my hair.  While I don’t have issues with dandruff any longer… when I feel my scalp feels a bit dry – I simply use this oil as my hair massage oil and do the inversion method while massaging my scalp with a combination of this oil and my coconut oil.  It works wonders on my scalp, but also my hair.  Many ask how my hair grows so quickly considering I trim off about 2-3 inches every 2-3 months and I definitely believe this regimen has some to do with it.  And, while I do not recommend it – before having my children, I used Tea Tree Oil to stop the bleeding on some of my cuts or help heal my cuts quicker and faster.  Of course, it does sting a little, but it worked quickly and was an easy fix.  But, I’m no doctor and do not suggest this… DISCLAIMER – I don’t suggest it.  Also – don’t get this stuff in your eyes or mouth.  It stings your eyes and do not swallow… yuck. lol  I know some that use this as a gargle when they have cold sores or viruses, but… I’m not quite at that stage yet – lol.  I’m looking forward to using this for treating my dog and his area where he sleeps to keep the buggies away from him, once I do – I’ll be sure to come back with a revisit to discuss everything I’ve been able to accomplish with this product.

Quick notation… Tea Tree Oil can be very toxic for animals especially when in it’s pure form.  Please use discretion and discuss with your vet prior to testing out anything on your animal.  I will be seeing my vet before using this on him.  Same goes for humans.  While I have used this in the past, I always make sure to discuss with my physician prior to starting anything new with Essential Oils.

Tea Tree Oil

Having tried several brands of Tea Tree Oil I knew right from opening the package that this was the real thing.  Like I mentioned before, the scent… whoa – it’s strong and for many it can be unbearable.  I am not a fan of the scent – At All!  So after applying to my hair, I wash my hair shortly after.  However, for the price point and the large bottle you receive, it’s well worth the cost.  I’m impressed with the brand, the communication and customer service and the product.  Apothecary Extracts also includes a Downloadable E-book with purchase of the product so that you can read about different uses of this product.

Since I’m a fan of this product and a long time user of Tea Tree Oil, I will continue to purchase from their brand knowing the quality of the product and the price point is beneficial.  Have you heard of Tea Tree Oil before?  Is this product you have used? I would love to know your thoughts and would love to know that if you used this product, what your uses and benefits were from this oil. 🙂
