I am absolutely in love with Too Faced Cosmetics’ Melted lipsticks. I got Melted Violet and Melted Peony and I swear, if I could I would be rocking out Too Faced Melted Violet every single day. I’m working on a post for review so I won’t get into too much detail, but let me just say… it’s stolen my heart. <3
It was a Too Faced kind of day today… since I recently got my POPSUGAR Must-Have box in the mail (post on that coming soon), I had to dip into my Natural eye palette – I decided I would rock out Too Faced products today. It is a rare thing that I use majority of one brand but with exception to my eye liner and my brows, everything was from Too Faced.
Eye Primer: Too Faced Shadow Insurance
Eye Shadow: Too Faced Natural Eyes Palette – Cashmere Bunny (crease shade), Honey Pot (lid shade), Heaven (brow highlight), Chocolate Martini (lightly blended into the Outer V and blended under lower lash line)
Eye liner: NYC HD Liquid Liner (upper lash line – slight wing) and Too Faced Perfect Eyes Waterproof liner in Black Orchid (water line/tight line)
Lashes: Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara
Lips: Too Faced Melted Violet lipstick
Brows: Cailyn Gelux Brow Gel in Cocoa
I opted for an eye and lip look today so I don’t have any face makeup on – no blush, bronzer or high light. Have you tried any of the melted lipsticks? I have been smitten with the two I own and I’m seriously considering picking up a few more shades. Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.

It’s no secret that I have seriously sensitive skin. For years I had absolutely no trouble using whatever cleanser worked, or trying out new skincare products but over…
I am all about using products that make life easier. Let’s be honest here, with technology constantly knocking on our door… don’t we want something that will offer us ease of use? Would this be the case when it comes to makeup products? I think so and I certainly welcome what ever is offered up. Over the last few months I have been playing and having fun with the new Smashbox Always Sharp 3D Liners and I’m not exaggerating when I say I have been having fun. lmao I literally couldn’t figure out why they were called “Always Sharp” until doing my video review a month ago where everyone learned right along with me. lol So – without further adieu… on to my Smashbox Always Sharp 3D Liners Review.
Available in 8 different colors, these liners retail for $20 (.009oz/0.27g) and offer a reflective glittery type look without all the fall out of actual glitter. They are comfortable to wear on the eyes, apply smoothly like a kohl liner and offer great pigmentation. I am also surprised by the wear I got out of the product because it offers great longevity through the day. The metallic/shimmer finish stuck around for hours and the color lasted on my lower and upper lash line and waterline with minimal budging and no raccoon eyes. These stay put really well and I contribute the small smudges to the fact that I naturally have watery eyes. This is not your teeny-bopper eyeliner… while there is shimmer and sparkle, I like that it is more enhancing your eye look or your eyes than making you look like you are wearing a ton of glitter liner which is something I enjoyed the most.
So what makes these so unique? Well, inspired by Smashbox Pros that consistently sharpen their pencils prior to using them, this pencil was designed to be the first of its kind to have a sharpener built right into its cap. Ditch your sharpener because you will not need it for this pencil. Each time you remove your cap – you get a nice sharp tip to create your look with. I don’t have to twist up the bottom of the pencil or anything like that – I simply twist the cap off (make sure you twist, I almost broke the pencil several times by yanking) and you will expose a sharpened tip. It’s magic – I swear! lol
Check out my quick video review (embedded below) as well as a demo of the product. Looking for a laugh – tune in to the part where I figure out how the liners actually work, lol. Click here to watch directly on YouTube.
In the makeup look above (tutorial can be found here), I am using Smashbox’s Always Sharp 3D Liner in 3D Sparks on my lower lash line. What I enjoy about these liners is that they are not super shimmery, but offer just the right amount of sparkle to draw attention to the eyes and in my opinion even brightening the look of the eyes just a little so it offers a subtle but dramatic effect.
Any Cons?
So – while I do enjoy using this product, there are a few cons to it. First of all – it is a habit for me to twist a cap back on to the pencil when I’m covering it and I noticed that I can twist too many times when putting my cap back on – which can cause the cap to crack. Second, there is no way for you to tell how much product you have left so it can be a disappointment when you reach the end of your liner and realize that nothing is left and you have to pick up a new one. And, third – one of my pencils broke because I pushed on it too hard and it was near to impossible to get my tip sharpened again or to twist it up so that it would meet up with the sharpener for me to use it. I don’t know what I did but I finally got the pencil to expose itself again and I was able to use my liner.
Overall – I’m still super impressed with these liners. They have great staying power, they can smudge but for the most part they stayed in place for hours and I love the sparkle. The concept of the pencil is great – I just wish that there was an option to be able to twist the pencil up should it break or if you need to see how much product you have left in it. If there is a way to do so – please let me know. I think the price point is okay, considering it is a Smashbox product.
You can purchase these four colors mentioned as well as the other four colors available at Smashbox.com, Sephora.com or Ulta.com.
Have you tried this eye liner? If you have – what are your thoughts? If you haven’t, would you consider it?
Skin that feels great, is hydrated and moisturized and looks fantastic… SIGN ME UP! I have super dry skin and I also have severe Eczema so anything that…
I am always on the hunt for blush, bronzer and highlighters. I honestly don’t know what my fascination is with all of those, but I just have a darn addiction to makeup in general – so I just chuck it all up as such. Most that know me know that Laura Geller’s Baked Highlighters are my favorite and I am also a huge fan of Milani, but after having the opportunity to try out NYX’s Sunkissed Radiant Finishing Powder – I have added a new favorite to my list.
Recently, NYX released a plethora of goodies for their Spring 2014 launch. Many of these products were available for a few months now and I’ve been having fun with the NYX Sunkissed Radiant Finishing Powder for about 5 months or so and have been enjoying it. Retailing for just $9.00 on NYX’s website and available in both Sunkissed (pictured) and Brighten – these new products are pretty cool additions to the line. You can find these on NYXCOSMETICS.COM or on Ulta.com for about the same price and if you are lucky to find new NYX goodies in your local store – you may be able to grab one for you there too.
Check out my video below for a quick review on the product as well as a demo on how it applies so you can see what it’s all about. You can click here to watch directly on YouTube as well.

Obviously from the video (if you watched it) you can tell that I’m quite smitten over this product. First let’s talk about the cost… totally affordable right? Then, it offers a great highlight as well as a nice bronzed look if that is what I’m going for. If this can be achieved on my medium to dark skin – I’m truly amazed. Most drug store products don’t offer colors deep enough to match my skintone perfectly and when it comes to highlighter, it often can appear to white and ashy when applied. I love the fact that this powder offers a few shades in range from warm and cool with great highlighting shades that have gold light reflecting capabilities. This not only offers me a great all over powder if I need it to be but is a great multi-tasker as I am able to highlight, contour and even add a light blush to my cheeks.
SUNKISSED
Add natural radiance to any complexion for a healthy glow with this luminous collection of bronze, rose and gold toned powders. Soft, smooth, lightweight and luxurious, this all-over powder is comfortable to wear anytime anywhere.
I tried my best to get photos that would provide a sample of what the powder looked like on my skin and took the photo you see above of my cheek bones where you can see that soft glow it offers. While on video – I love how this powder offers an almost diffused look to my cheeks, with a soft glow. It’s really awesome considering the price tag you get. In the photo below – I took a screen capture of my video where I demoed the product. What I love so much about this powder is how well it captures and holds the light reflecting back so nicely. I still have a warmth about my face, I don’t look ghostly and it doesn’t offer any flash back like other shimmery type powders can do. The tutorial for the eye look in these photos can be found here.
The product itself has a soft buttery like texture and while you may not be able to tell from the photos, but each shade has gold shimmer – but not enough to make you look like a disco ball while wearing the product. When swatched, each color offers up a very bold look (i.e. the creamy white looks like a bright cream shade when swatched), but applied with a brush and blended nicely, it creates a really nice glow and highlight that looks wonderful. Keep in mind you definitely want to blend this product well using a brush that will lightly buff the product onto the areas you are applying it to. Because of the shimmer – you can experience a little bit of powdery fall out – but for the most part, I haven’t found that to be an issue at all and sweeping it away from your skin with a brush leaves you with a gorgeous glow.
In the compact, the Pink shade offers up a baby pink hue that looks almost too bright for me to pull off (just me being honest), but working with the other shades in the palette and blending them together – they all work well and compliment my skin tone nicely. I am very impressed with the staying power that this powder offers, especially since I use it on my bare skin (no primer or foundation) and it clings well and lasts for at least 6-8 hours with normal wear. When I use the bronzer portion of the compact on its own – I’m also super impressed that it did not oxidize on my skin, shimmery bronzers can do that to me very easily.
Overall – I think this powder is a great and affordable alternative if you are looking to add luminosity, radiance and glow (highlight) to your makeup look without a costly price tag. Considering that it is a drugstore product and cost under $10, it reminds me of some of my higher end brands. If you are on the hunt to try something new or if you are just a makeup lover like me that loves to sport that “glow from within” look – I definitely think this is something you should check out. So – do you think you could give this product a try? Are you a NYX lover like me? I’ll be getting my hands on the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders Palette in the next few days – I can’t wait to see how this NYX Sunkissed Powder compares.
Is there such thing as easy makeup for busy moms? Well, of course there is. I am always running around doing errands, being a soccer mom, cooking dinner…
A few months ago I posted a review with swatches on four of the new NYX Butter Lipsticks in Razzle, Hot Tamale, Big Cherry and Pops. Since I loved them so much, I decided to pick up a few more and placed an order on NYX’s website for Fizzies, Cotton Candy, Hubba Bubba, Hunk and Bit of Honey. After using these the last couple of months, I decided I would do some swatches in case anyone was interested in the shades I purchased… especially since when I ordered them, I expected them to be a bit different then how they arrived. Some of the shades were much lighter and darker than I had expected.
The butter lipsticks retail for $6.00 on NYX’s website and come in 22 shades. Just like I stated in my first review, the NYX Butter Lipsticks feel great on the lips and are moisturizing. But I think some of these shades feel a bit different on the lips and when it comes to coverage, the lighter shades seem to sink into the lines of my lips unlike the original four colors I tried out.
In the swatch photo above, you can see that Hubba Bubba has a slight frost to it – since it does have a light amount of shimmer in the lipstick. Because of this, I was a little disappointed at how my lips looked when I used this shade and I do not use it often. On the website – Cotton Candy and Hubba Bubba lend for a more wearable shade so I was surprised to see it so Barbie Pink when they arrived. I do like Fizzies, though it is not a shade I will use often – it does match my skin tone and Hunk and Bit of Honey are also ones I enjoy too.
Have you tried the NYX Butter lipsticks? While I do love some of these new ones I received, I think the only favorites out of this bunch would be Hunk and Fizzies. The others just seem too white for me to wear on its own… but hey, that is what gloss and liner is for. I’ll still find a way to make it work. If you want to see swatches on the other Butter lipsticks I reviewed – don’t forget to click here. If you tried any of these lipsticks and have favorites – please comment below and let me know, I would love to check them out and see if they will match me.
It’s been quite a while since I did a Friday Favorites but I have been enjoying some new things lately and rediscovering some old things that I normally…
