Today I’m gonna start my blog post off with a little story, so grab you something to drink, sit tight and read on.  As a child, I absolutely hated my hair, among other things that most girls are not very happy with on their bodies.  I developed my woman parts earlier than most so they stuck out and I had to use a bra before other girls did, my hair was difficult to manage and to top it all off – I came from a family that lived paycheck to paycheck, struggling to make ends meet.  Growing up was a challenge, as it is for most girls – but for me, I not only dealt with bullying, but I had to fight for my right to be who I am.  I later realized that I needed to truly love myself in order for others to see who I was and that bullying (while wrong and a terrible thing for anyone to go through), happens more times than not.  My story (the very short version of it) was shared with you today because it offers me a connection between my life and that of Vanessa’s Essence.  This natural and organic hair care line was was developed by a mother who reacted to her child Vanessa’s experience of being bullied and she was inspired to do something positive for other girls.  The gap in availability of natural hair care products for girls can be a challenge to find and the companies goal is to not only encourage young girls to love themselves and be who they are naturally, but to also stop the bullying by starting conversations that raise awareness of the serious consequences of bullying.  Today – I share with you Vanessa’s Essence.

Vanessa’s Essence is a hair care line that offers a variety of products that are geared to help young girls with wavy, curly, coily and afro-textured hair and assist them in understanding their hair and loving what they were given naturally.  Vanessa’s Essence worked with experts to develop a special line of natural hair care products just for girls.  The finest natural and organic ingredients were formulated to create products that work best for thick, curly, coily, kinky and wavy hair.  The products are compliant with US Food and Drug Administration Current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) standards and come with nourishing ingredients that you and your hair will love.

Ingredients like: Organic Coconut Oil infused with Grape Seed Oil, Capuacu Butter, Organic Madagascar Vanilla Bean, Mango Butter, Manuka Honey and Yucca Leaf Extract help to keep your hair moisturized, frizz free and easy to manage.

I had the opportunity to the try the following products:  Lovely Locks Hair Milk, Clean my Koils 2 in 1 Shampoo and Conditioner, Knot Dry Revitalizing Moisture Cocktail and Let’s Hear It For The Kurls Hair Jelly Curl Definer.  I’m going to share with you each product and let you know how each one worked for me.

Lovely Locks Hair Milk $17.39 / 8oz – nourishes your curls by locking in moisture and giving it a gorgeous shine.  It’s perfected to style 3 and 4 type kinky curls in need of a light twisting styler and adds the much needed moisture your hair craves.  It’s a creamy leave-in conditioner that I apply after my shampoo/conditioner and hair mask while my hair is still damp.  I also apply on dry hair when I need a little extra something but rather use it when my hair is wet.

Formulated with Organic Aloe Juice that acts as a natural conditioner to help nourish your hair follicles, while rice bran oil stimulate hair growth and help prevent split ends if used regularly.  Shea Butter helps to sooth, shield and protect your hair from dust and heat and keep your hair silky soft and smooth.  The Lovely Locks Hair Milk smells great too and I love how my hair feels after using it.

Klean My Koils 2-in-1 Shampoo & Conditioner $19.00 / 8oz – Of course a good clean for our hair is always a wonderful thing.  Ideal for dry hair types – this product helps infuse your hair with hydration while cleansing with a light lather.  I have noticed that after using this product my hair feels light and has so much shine and luster.  My hair feels clean, looks fabulous but it doesn’t sacrifice my curls while drying out my hair like other cleansers can do.

The core ingredients used in the product accelerate hair growth and heal damaged hair. They include Organic Aloe Juice, Shea Butter and Peppermint Leaf Extract, which alleviate dandruff and dryness. Yucca, Horsetail, Nettle and Melissa Leaf Extracts help in addressing hair loss. The Soybean Oil helps the nutrients absorb more fully into your hair. Distillates of Sour Cherry and Grapefruit act as a deodorizer, cleanser and detangler, strengthening hair follicles and stripping hair of damaging chemicals. Another core ingredient, Witch Hazel Distillate (Witch Hazel Distillate is a clear, colorless botanical extracts prepared from the recently cut and partially dried, dormant twigs of the Hamamelis Virginiana Linne plant) delivers bounce and volume, Pro Vitamin B5 locks in the moisture and Pomegranate Seed Extract adds luster to dull hair. The high antioxidant and vitamin content of Pomegranate Seed Extract helps to increase the blood circulation in the scalp, strengthen blood vessels and thereby promote healthy hair growth. You can experience the results over the long-term.

Knot Dry Revitalizing Moisture Cocktail $16.95 / 8oz – this product has easily become one of my favorite hair care products.  My hair tangles all the time because of my curls, the weather and of course, because I can’t figure out whether to wear my hair up or down.  I’m always looking for something to help detangle my hair while leaving it feeling soft and silky too.  This product provides my hair with much needed moisture to help with handling and detangling so that detangling my hair doesn’t hurt and a can run my fingers or a comb through my hair easily. It provides hydration to my hair while leaving it looking glossy (not greasy) and offering shine.

The enzymes, vitamins and minerals in the Organic Aloe Leaf Juice promote growth and condition from within, and Honey heals damaged hair.  Coconut Fruit Juice improves blood circulation in the scalp and enhances the density of hair and strengthens the hair follicles, which prevents it from breaking.  Organic Green Tea has antioxidants, and its anti-inflammatory properties help to stop hair loss and promote the growth of new hair.  Knot Dry also Organic Cranberry Extract which is known to be good to grow long and lustrous hair.  It also promotes hair growth and prevents hair loss.  The Vitamin C and Vitamin A in cranberry increases the growth of hair and keep the hair strong. The anti-fungal and antiseptic properties of cranberry helps to prevent the formation of dandruff. There is a light fragrance to this product, but it’s not overpowering at all.

Let’s Hear It For The Kurls Hair Jelly Curl Definer $18.00 / 8oz. – This product is a favorite among girls with 2 and 3 type curls/hair.  It helps to accentuate and enhance your natural curls so you can embrace and love the hair you’re born with.  This hair Jelly is one of my favorite products as well since it helps to condition my curls, leaving them looking like they have been revived and brought alive.  I find that this is perfect to add to my hair after I have just washed it or when I need to revive my curls and twist them up some.  It helps to tame my frizzles without adding stiff, crunchy hair and it is not sticky at all.  You get medium hold that you can still run your fingers through.

Agave Nectar and Manuka Honey help define and condition your curls, prevent split ends, fight frizz and remove build up on the scalp. Vitamin B5 minimizes hair loss and promotes hair growth. Combined together, the ingredients strengthen hair follicles and nourish hair from root to tip.

I have come a long way in this hair journey of mine.  While my hair is not perfect, I can honestly say that after years and years of hating it and hating how curly it was – wishing for straight locks like my friends, I’ve finally embraced my natural curls.  I can only hope that my love for my hair will increase over time and that I’ll love it even more.

I can honestly say that after using and testing out Vanessa’s Essence Hair Care products over the last several months, in combination with some of my other hair care faves, I’ve fallen in love with them.  When you try a product and immediately notice how different your hair feels and looks, you know that it is something good and great and you must hold onto it.  I will be a lifelong customer of Vanessa’s Essence and can’t wait to replenish my product stash with more.  The products are costly, but I have used SO MANY hair products in the past with similar price tags and even heftier ones that haven’t nourished and moisturized my hair the way these do.

As an adult, I have learned so many great and inspiring things – like how to love myself.  Things like that are not taught, but have to be learned when you come to terms with who you are and figure out how to embrace it.  I love that Vanessa’s Essence strives to work with young girls so that they can love their natural beauty because I know that young Honey could have used something like this many years ago.  Sometimes, just a few words of encouragement, a smile and great hair can go a long way.

It’s no secret that I’m an island girl, born and raised on the beautiful island of Maui and still currently living here while raising my family.  Island living is a part of who I am and while I may decide to move away one day to further my journey, Maui (Hawaii in general) will always be home.  As an island native, a hawaiian girl true to my roots, I have learned to utilize nature and all of it’s fruitful bounty to my benefit.  Whether it be swimming in the oceans for tranquility or sport, catching my own fish or diving for lobster to feed my cravings and my family or picking fern to make gorgeous head adornments (we call them leis here) or salads to eat – living in Hawaii is a culture and an experience all its own.  Passed down generations, I’ve learned different techniques for skin and body care that I can also use for myself and my family.  For example – we have several aloe plants growing in our yard to help aid in sunburn or any type of burn and for healing, something my dad taught me.  I believe that Hawaii is not only a destination for visiting and play, but it’s land is rich in benefits many are only now beginning to discover.  Recently I was introduced to Eavara Skin Care, a company that includes eco-ingredients from Hawaii and places all around the world and today, I’m going to share it with you.

img_20160805_112203-01.jpg

Eavara (“e-a” meaning life, air, breath and “vara” meaning the best or most excellent) got its name by melding two ancient words to represent “Eavara” which represents “Giving the Best of Life” and Eavara strives to do so in every way when it comes to health and beauty.

Their mission is simple but makes an impact:

“To combine the best of Nature and Science by creating skin care products that dramatically improve your appearance and protect your skin against the effects of aging with only the finest ingredients.  Their goal, to keep you looking healthy, youthful and beautiful.”

Eavara was inspired by the natural wonders and beauty of Hawaii where they carefully selected organic, natural and eco-ingredients from locations around the world in places called Paradise.  Prior to development of new products, each ingredient selected is put through a rigorous testing for quality, potency and effectiveness.  Whenever possible, Eavara sources their ingredients from local organic growers in  Hawaii and they are commited to supporting local farmers, sustainability practices and sourcing beneficial ingredients for your health and wellness.

Eavara is dedicated to NEVER using these ingredients:  Propylene Glycol, Petroleum Distillates, Formaldehyde, SLS (Sodium Lauryl/Laureth Sulfates), Parabens, Phthalates and other harmful chemicals.

Today they offer their Age Defying Moisturizer, which is what I had the opportunity to try.  Let’s just say the last two months since I’ve been using this product has been divine.  Since I have sensitive skin (I know, I know – you know… lol), I was worried that my face would suffer from some form of reaction as it does with different products, but it’s been two months with no issues.

The Eavara Organic Age Defying Moisturizer retails for just $29.95 (1.7 oz/50 mL) and Eavara offers Free Standard Shipping on all USA Orders.  This product includes a blend of the finest organic oils and tropical botanical plants from paradise to sooth, moisturize and protect your skin.  Nutrient-rich antioxidants like Coconut Oil (we all know that’s my holy grail product right there), Shea Butter, Kukui Nut and Avocado Oils offer skin loving ingredients that are reported by medical journals to help visibly diminish fine lines and wrinkles as well as the signs of aging.

The Eavara Age Defying Moisturizer has helped to improve my skins texture and provides my skin with a boost of radiance.  My skin looks smoother and brighter, but also leaves my skin feeling soft.  I have tried a plethora of skin care items over the years and I can honestly say this has become one of my favorites.  Besides, you can’t beat the cost of this product… it’s worth it to give it a try.  Over the last two months I have noticed that my skin overall just looks and feels great.  Furthermore, even with a vast amount of sensivities, I haven’t noticed any adverse reactions, break outs or flare ups.  My naturally dry skin feels great and is moisturized all day long.  I’m impressed and well, in love with this product.

Key Ingredients:

Certified Organic Rosa Canina Oil • Organic Jojoba Seed Oil • Organic Avocado Oil • Organic Mango Butter • Organic Macadamia Oil • Organic Kukui Nut Oil • Shea Butter • Vitamin E • Organic (Inca-peanut)Sacha Inchi • Organic Hibiscus Flower Extract • Adansonia Digitata Pulp Extract • Malus Domestica Fruit Cell Culture • Soluble Collagen • Certified Organic Kakadu Plum Extract • Arnica Montana (Flower) Extract • Green Tea (Camellia Sinensis) Extract • Certified Organic Seaweed Extracts • Certified Organic Coconut Oil • Organic Hibiscus extract • Organic Mamaki Leaf Extract • Organic A’ali’l Leaf Extract • Organic Plumeria • Hyaluronic Acid •

This Eavara Moisturizer seems to work fairly well with other products I currently use from other brands and I’m absolutely ecstatic at the fact that it includes Hyaluronic Acid whic his something I use daily to infuse moisture into my dry skin.  With some of my favorite oils like jojoba, coconut and kukui nut, my skin feels so rejuvenated and fresh.

It’s common knowledge here at Honeygirl’s World that I do not use Foundation unless I feel the need to and that’s usually just a handful of times a year, if that.  But there are times when I do feel like my skin looks a little dull or lack luster.  After using Eavara for the last two months, I found that my skin just looks like it’s glowing and many have commented on the fact as well.  But, what really excites me about the product is that I noticed how much my skin was moisturized and felt quenched after the first use.

So – let’s chit chat a little about the product in my own words, shall we.  First of all, if you have dry skin like I do… I honestly think your skin will drink this up like it’s fresh water from a waterfall.  The cream is cool (reminds me of a cold cream), but smooths onto the skin and is lightweight with no residue.  It dries quickly and soaks into the skin just as fast.  I like that I can literally feel it soaking into the skin after applying it and I am free to apply any serum or other over my skin as I would my regular routine.  I have tried using this day and night but find that I like it best in the morning and then follow up with my normal oils that I apply to my skin as part of my night routine.  If you have combination oily skin, this moisturizer may be too much for you, but honestly, at the price point – I suggest trying it.  With the ingredient list, I would expect the additional moisture and your skin may just drink it up.

Considering this comes from a Hawaii based business, I’m excited and look forward to trying more product that Eavara will create.  This product is really nice and affordable and worth taking a gander at to see if it is something that will work for you.  I have already sent a few friends and my mom to check it out and I look forward to hearing back from them on how they liked it.

Have you heard of Eavara before?  If so, is this something you would enjoy?  If not, are you planning to check it out.  I highly suggest checking out this product and joining the Eavara ‘Ohana (family in Hawaiian).  They offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee and it’s risk free.  I know I will be a customer for life, so I look forward to seeing what Eavara comes out with next.  I can honestly say, Eavara is this island beauty’s secret to great skin.

Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day Vinegar Gel Cleaner ($3.99) is something new to our family and I have not used it prior to this.  Heritage-inspired specialty cleaners that are bleach-free but still work hard on grease, grime and soap-residue.  Mrs. Meye’s Vinegar Gel Cleaner in Lemon Verbena smells nice and is naturally thickened vinegar with the Lemon Verbena fragrance to help clean stainless steel to a bright, brilliant shine without needed to rinse.  Use to clean countertops, the refrigerator, handles, knobs and all those little do-it-yourself vinegar jobs but with more of a pleasant scent.  I love it… I am someone who keeps a bottle of vinegar on hand just for cleaning the house and this product is awesome.

Happy Family Organics Brand Happy Tot Super Smart Organic Pears, Peas & Mangos ($1.60)  I have been seeing kiddos around our neighborhood and at football practice sipping on these pouches over the last couple of weeks and I was excited to be able to try one.  Since a toddler’s brain doubles in size from birth to age 2, it’s essential to give them the proper support for a tot’s growth.  These Super Smart pouches contain 20mg of DHA and 100mg of choline, both important nutrients to help support brain health in a growing toddler.  But, while these are formulated mainly for toddlers, the boys tried them and really enjoy it.  I know they have a variety of flavors for older kids too so we’ll be checking those out in the next week or so and stocking up.

It’s always great when a company offers such great quality but higher standards and I’m excited for my readers and friends to try some of these brands for themselves.

If you’ve been following my blog for a while, then you know that I have a love hate relationship with my lashes.  Let’s face it, in the age and time where beauty is all about the lashes and I have none, it can be a bit disappointing.  I have tried many many products over the years that have helped my lashes grow and condition them, but nothing is a fix all or cure all kind of thing.  So I’ve learned over the years that I need to just protect these sparse looking hairs and hopefully they’ll decide to love me back one day – lol.  All kidding aside, I do have short and thin lashes.  I attest that to my Filipino and Chinese heritage, but it’s sad to admit that my siblings all have long lashes and I was left out of the gene pool.  My brother’s lashes are so long that as a kid, he hated being told he was so cute because of them and tried to cut them off… but that’s a different story.  Over the last month and a half (more or less), I’ve been using the Wink Lash and Brow Oil and I feel I’m finally comfortable sharing my thoughts with all of you.  Let’s get into it, shall we?

The Wink Lash & Brow Oil is a natural solution for regrowing lost lashes and brows that retails for $40.00.  Each bottle you receive for that price is a 2 month supply of the nourishing oil which can be used on both your lashes or your brows.  Amalie claims that you will receive visible results at 2 weeks and full results at 8-12 weeks.  As I mentioned before, I’ve been using this oil for just over a month and apply it each night to help restore the strength of my lashes, thickness and to help with length.  This hypoallergenic beauty oil should give your lashes and brows a more lush, full appearance, enhancing your natural beauty.

So let’s talk about the product and how it has worked for me so far.  I mentioned previously that I’ve used a variety of serums and products to help with eye lash grow, so I was quite familiar with what “could” happen when using this product.  Immediately I found that applying the product the first few times lent to be a bit messy for me.  I wouldn’t consider that the fault of the product, but I just didn’t get a grip on application the way I had expected the first few times.  The applicator is easy to use, you simply twist up till some of the product starts to dispense and run the brush dispenser along your lash line taking care to not get product in your eye.  Well, I did get product in my eye – many times… but it didn’t burn my eyes thankfully and I lived to tell this tale.  The oil is definitely oily so you will feel it on the eye lid if you put too much… but I find that that is also a benefit as I can apply a little bit and rub it into my lash line (of course, it took me a few tries to figure that out) and I wound up liking how it felt on my eyes.  I didn’t have any breakouts or sensitivities to the product which was great.

After two weeks of using the product, I found that the area on my lash line that was sparse or didn’t have much lashes was starting to sprout little hairs.  I also noticed that my lash line looked a little thicker with just a few coats of mascara.  Since my lashes are thin, sparse and short, I liked that I was starting to notice the difference so quickly.  After using the product for about 35 days, I noticed length in my lashes.  Now, let’s be honest here, my lashes are so short, they don’t even protect my eyeballs, so I’m not talking about extreme length.  But, when I apply mascara and actually can see my lashes peeking through – that is a big deal, since they are not normally that easy to see.

I know most lash cycles are about 35 – 45 days and I would like to say mine is at about 35 days when they just stop growing, giving me minimal length no matter what I do.  The Amalie Beauty Wink Lash & Brow Oil actually helped to thicken my lashes (not dramatically, but enough to where I noticed) but most importantly, I enjoyed seeing an increase of little hairs growing on my lash line.  Because of the increase of those little hair grow, I also noticed that my lash line looked thicker and my lashes looked like it had more volume.  I also noticed the length pretty easily, which is a big deal since I don’t have much of it to begin with.  Now – I’m not saying these gave me Kim Kardashian lashes (yes, they are real most of the time – I asked her makeup artist personally… lol), I did notice the length and the growth, even if it wasn’t a lot – it made a difference.

In this photo I’m using one coat of mascara on lower & upper lashes – no retouching has been done. This photo taken with my phone Samsung Note 4

In my photograph above I take the photo of me using mascara on my lower and upper lashes.  It may not seem like much, but normally I tight-line to create a more defined and fuller look to my lashes and this time and lately I haven’t been doing so.  This photo was taken with one coat of mascara on my upper and lower lashes.  Because I have more hair near my lash line, it gives me a full look without having to tight-line.

Created and developed by friends, one of which removed her lash extensions to find she needed help after she had sparse and non-existent ones (read more about the story here), I was excited to try something new.  I think considering the price point that you can find on some of the lash growth products on the market today, this product is reasonably priced.  Let’s also talk about the comfort factor, these do not burn the eyes if they get into your eyes – which for my sensitive eyes, that is a HUGE plus.  I did notice length, fuller lash line and thicker lashes.  I also noticed that my lashes look healthier and feel nice.  It’s been really nice using this product and I think I’ll continue using it to help condition and strengthen my lashes.

Ingredients: Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Himalayan Cherry/Dhatelo Seed (Prinsepia Utilis Oil), Aleurites Moluccana (Kukui) Seed Oil, Rubus idaeus (Raspberry) Seed Oil, Argania Spinosa (Argan) Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Oil , Punica Granatum (Pomegrenate) Seed Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Tocopherol, Glycerin, Sodium Levulinate, Sodium Anisate.

Amalie and Wink also have a very awesome Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign.  Every October, for every bottle of Wink sold, Amalie donates one bottle to a cancer warrior, to help regrow their lashes and brows lost through chemotherapy.  Last year Amalie donated just under 1,000 bottles of Wink, setting a new record.  This year they plan to kick their past record’s butt again so if you are interested in trying Wink for yourself, keep this fabulous campaign in mind and help support cancer warriors.

I am a huge believer in natural products and those that do not irritate my body, my eyes or my skin are always a plus.  I’ve been enjoying using Wink the last month and I plan to continue using this a few times a year to keep my lashes looking great.  I’ll follow up in a few months or a year and let you know how my progress goes and I’ll keep you updated along the way.

Check out Amalie Beauty for details on Wink and other products.  I’ll be writing about their Shine Oil soon.  http://www.amaliebeauty.com/products/wink

I often get asked what I do to my hair to have it grow so long and so fast or how I keep it looking nice.  The fact of the matter is, I have hated my hair my whole life and a few years ago I decided it was time to start taking my hair back, claiming it as my own and embracing every strand.  I use a number of different brands and products and while I do have some of my favorites that I return to time and time again, I have some new loves that I have been thankful for lately.  I’ve been asked time and time again to share my hair care secrets and honestly, I don’t consider them a secret… because they are basic and overall easy tips for keeping my hair looking great.

Before sharing all the details on the products I use an enjoy, let’s talk about the basics, shall we?  First off, I stopped using heat on my hair.  For years I flat ironed my hair religiously and no matter what products I used to help rejuvenate and keep it healthy, my locks were dry and desperate.  If I do use heat on my hair, it’s a few times a year (literally 3x or less) and other than that I dry my hair naturally (air dry) and wear my hair in its naturally state.  When it comes to maintaining the length, color, etc… well – those are subjects that are definitely individual preference, but honestly – I cut my own hair every 6-8 weeks (a trim to keep my ends healthy, especially since my hair grows so quickly) and I color my own hair.  Let’s get into detail about all of that.

Trim, Cut & Color…

Some people can get their hair professionally cut and colored in a quality salon, but since my hair is passed my waist in length and very curly, an good quality salon and stylist will run me about $325 – $400 for a great color.  That’s quite costly, so I pick up hair dye (if I feel the need for a change in color) and color my own.  When it comes to a standard trim which I do every 6-8 weeks, I will trim myself which is something I’ve done for years.  Once a year I will go into the salon and have a full layer and cut to help restyle or reshape my hair if I feel the need… otherwise, I stick to my normal “self trim” routine.  When it comes to coloring, I normally color my hair 2-3x a year but usually 2x a year is enough for me.  Since I have the natural gene pool to get gray hair early in my life, I do have gray hair consistently so I either color or leave it natural.  Coloring is huge maintenance for me so unless I’m going red or purple, I tend to choose a shade similar to my natural hair color.  I am a medium brown and during the summer my hair naturally lightens at least 2 shades so I try to stick to similar colors so that I don’t have to worry too much about maintenance.  If you want to spend the money on your hair to cut and color and go to the salon, please don’t let this post or paragraph stop you from doing so… that is just my preference.

Scrub a Dub that hair in the tub… cleaning routine…

I wash my hair about 1-2x a week.  I naturally have a dry scalp so over washing causes heavy dandruff and sensitivities regardless of the hair care products I use.  Dry Shampoo is my best friend (if I need it) but most the time 2x a week works out perfectly for my hair.  I don’t get an oily scalp at all, which is a huge deal for me… but I do get a dry scalp with over washing so I tend to stick to that routine.

When it comes to hair care products like shampoo & conditioner (any hair care for that matter), I use a plethora of products from Drugstore to Salon or Salon Quality brands.  It all depends on the ingredients that are listed in the product.  For a long time I have been really trying to find products that promote good hair health and moisture.  My hair drinks up moisture immediately so I need a lot of it.  While the scent or fragrance have a lot to do with what I use (due to my allergies) I like using products that offer my hair some extra love.

OGX products have been a huge hit with me lately.  I love that I can find them in the drugstore and that they work.  I use a lot of brands like HASK and Macadamia Oil as well many others, but currently – I’m using OGX in combination with my HASK.

The OGX Coconut Water Weightless Hydration Oil has been an absolute favorite of mine over the last month.  I use pure organic coconut oil in my hair on a daily basis and found that this hydration oil has left my curls quenched and feeling great without leaving my hair feeling heavy, sticky or oily.  It’s a light weight oil and really leaves my hair feeling fantastic.  Using in combination with the Curl Styling Milk to help keep my curls looking great and other OGX products, I have really been enjoying my hair.  I also love that these are so affordable which make keeping up with my hair routine easy on me and my pocketbook.

Protection, Treatment & Repair…

Of course, a good treatment or mask works well too.  I need a good mask that will leave my hair shiny and looking luxurious.  Recently I was introduced to the JOICO K-Pak Color Therapy Luster Lock Instant Shine & Repair Treatment.  This product has been so wonderful in keeping my hair looking healthy and keeping the shine, but also providing my hair with color protection that locks in my color for longer lasting brilliance.  I really enjoy this product and have been using it for about a month.  Since I can have coarse hair sometimes, I love concentrating this product on the ends and it treats my hair leaving it soft and shiny.

The Pineapple & Ginger Ultra-Revive Anti-Frizz Serum & Ultra-Revive Intensive Hair Mask from Giovanni have also been great additions to my hair care this summer.  Both products offer my hair nutrients to help keep my locks moisturized and hydrated.  These products help with the strength of my hair as well as protect from future damage leaving my hair hydrated, soft and feeling thicker.

Styling…

If you have been a reader of this site or follow my YouTube channel, then you know that when it comes to style, I wear my hair as simple as possible.  It’s either worn down in its naturally curly state, pulled up in a bun or worn in a braid.  Sometimes I’ll straighten it for a different look or curl it and sometimes I really add a little pizzazz and twist it up.  But, for the most part – if my hair is not in a bun, I’m wearing it natural.  When I’m wearing my hair naturally curly, I have been really enjoying LA Looks Nutra Curl.  LA Looks is a brand I have used for years (since I was rocking out the tsunami wave – surfs up… back in elementary school)  I recently was introduced to the LA Looks Nutra Curl which I have been loving.  A little of the product in my damp hair helps to keep my curls formed but this gel is lightweight and not sticky.  It provides hold without being crunchy and I’m really amazed at how much I enjoy it.

I think hair care is an individual thing.  What might work for me may not work for you and my hair care routine and products change up consistently.   As a blogger I have the opportunity to try out many different products – hair care included, so I do change up some of what I use.  But, I also love using many of the ones I currently have in rotation so they are constantly repurchased to replenish my stash and while I may not use them all the time, they are something I will continuously pull for when I need a no fuss, no muss kind of day.

Since my hair is so long, I like products that will keep my hair looking fresh, while still allowing it to look healthy.  And, while I do enjoy a good highend product, a drugstore alternative is always a great choice in my book too.  I’m simple and because of this I enjoy simple things.  What I have listed here may change tomorrow or next week or next month, but currently these are the products I’m loving and my secret to my hair at the moment.

What about you?  Do you switch up your products from time to time or have a few you pull for that may be your ride or die?  As I always love to say… Do You Boo… and find something that works and roll with it.
