My favorite part about Spring and Summer months is that I can really embrace the casual, cool and fun outfits that come along with the seasons. Today I wanted to share with all of you a quick Outfit of the Day (ootd). This is a casual outfit of the day for spring and summer. We all know I’m about that casual life. lol So if you’re interested in the details of this outfit, keep on reading.
The Outfit Details
My jumpsuit is from a local island chain called Jeans Warehouse. It’s a cute strapless jumpsuit with drawstring details around the waste. It has a black base with small florals throughout. My sandals are super comfy and easy to throw on, they are Tubular Faux-Suede Sandals from Old Navy.
My sunglasses are from Coach and are called the Horse & Carriage Style. My bracelets were gifts from my husband and my parents. The gold being a Hawaiian Heirloom plumeria bangle and my green jade. I am wearing one of my Invicta watches – the Angel Divers analog two-tone watch. My necklace is the usual gold chain that I use often (a gift from my Grandma Young). It is paired with a gorgeous three-tiered Edison pearl necklace from Nagasako Designs. I’ve written about Nagasako Designs before, which you can read about here.
You can also check out the video of this outfit that includes all the details.
My super simple and easy casual outfit of the day is basically inspired by the warm weather we experience here in Hawaii. This past winter has taken us all by surprise, but I’m enjoying Spring and excited for Summer months. You can’t go wrong with wearing something that’s cool and breathable, airy and comfy.
I want to take this opportunity to thank Pacific BioDiesel for adding a little sunshine to Maui with their beautiful sunflower fields. If you want to learn more about them as well as their sister company – Kuleana Beauty, I have written about them here before.
Thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to watch my video or read my post on my casual outfit of the day for spring and summer. I haven’t been doing these kinds of posts or videos as often as I once did because I’ve been pretty busy, but my plan is to do them more.

As a blogger, I am so very thankful that the World is my office. I literally can take my laptop (or phone, or both) and writing tools with me and work anywhere I want. But, being able to carry all of my blogger necessities is not always easy, until now. Today, I introduce you to the American Shield Granite 25 Backpack. My go-to to carry all of my blogger (or even hiking and travel) necessities.
My Favorite Blogging Companion
Everyone knows that when it comes to blogging on the go, a camera and laptop (or some sort of writing tool) is a must. But for me, I am always looking for something to hold my things securely. Recently I was contacted by American Shield to try out their Granite 25 Backpack and I’m not only impressed, but I’m also loving it. If you’re looking for something that is not only classy and stylish but completely functional – this is the bag for you. I’ve been using it as my blogger bag and it’s been the best backpack for my needs.
What makes this backpack so special?
The Granite 25 Backpack from American Shield is an elegant and timeless design. It offers you versatility with spacious room and can be used for functional or multi-purpose needs. The bag is designed and made in the USA. The Granite 25 features Oxford Fabric (that’s tough, strong and durable) with textile lining. You have beautiful genuine leather accents on the buckles that are gorgeous and smell absolutely amazing. You get a flap + press stud (magnet) + drawstring opening to ensure that you secure your belongings on the go. The magnetic closure is very strong and sturdy. The straps are padded for comfort and the back is also padded. There is also a 15″ laptop compartment, which comes in handy on days I want to take my laptop with me.
Lots of pockets to hold all of your things!
The bag features a total of 8 small inner pockets (perfect for pens, etc.), 1 front pocket, 2 external side pockets (my favorite place to put my cell phone or my water bottles), 1 back pocket and one strap pocket (perfect for your jump drive or memory cards, house key or pocket change). It’s comfortable to use, with adjustable straps and even comes equipped with a top handle.
Is the Granite 25 only available in black?
The Granite 25 Backpack is currently available in Black & Brown, Green, Coffee and Black (which I own). It’s made with quality materials so it will hold up to the stress you put on it. And, trust me when I say I put stress on the backpack. I have taken this backpack with me everywhere and it’s been a great companion.
What makes this backpack a favorite of mine?
My favorite part about this backpack is how comfortable it is on my shoulders. I suffer from back problems and holding a backpack on my shoulders and back for long periods of time can cause much strain. But, my Granite 25 is so comfortable on my back and helps to evenly proportion my items on my back so I can hold it comfortably. As I mentioned before, the back is also padded which makes it comfortable to wear. If I decide I don’t want to hold it on my back, I can use the top handle and hold it in my hands.
How much is it?
The Granite 25 backpack retails for $249.00. Yes, it’s a pretty hefty price tag, but absolutely worth the investment. The back is made of quality materials and as I mentioned before, it’s sturdy and will be a work horse for you. American Shield also offers a Limited Guarantee.
Granite 25 Backpack Sizing Dimensions
Length – 16.6 inches, Height – 13 inches and Depth – 7 inches (15.6x13x7) – (42cm x 33cm x 17cm)
The American Shield Granite 25 is a backpack worth looking into. As a planner girl, I find that I am always looking for a bag that I can grab all of my things and head on out. This backpack offers me the versatility to be able to hold A LOT of things that don’t need to be work related, so I can grab whatever I need at that moment and throw it in there.
This could be your Go-To backpack!
Did I mention that this makes a great bag for hiking, traveling or exploring? Well, it surely does. The backpack can hold so many things, that it makes it ideal for use as your go-to bag for any occasion. I’m looking forward to using this backpack for so many other uses. I think this would also make a fabulous graduation gift for that graduate that needs something good to carry all of their school books or work-related items.
Check out American Shield and the Granite 25 backpack at: https://ameshield.com/https://ameshield.com/ They offer a wide range of different types of bags to suit any need, type or otherwise.

I am so beyond impressed with the quality of this backpack and I’ve been raving about it to everyone I know. It’s worth the price point when you get a backpack that’s gonna last. But I think one of the biggest qualities that this backpack has for me, is how it looks. This could easily be an executive style bag. It doesn’t look like a school kid’s backpack and could be used as a briefcase for an executive. It’s classy and very nice. I also love that it could be used for both women and men.
So, have you heard of American Shield before or the Granite 25 backpack? Is this something you could see your self utilizing?

I can’t believe that we are just a few days away from the first day of Spring. Don’t get it twisted you guys, I’m totally excited for Spring, but I’m definitely bummed that I won’t be able to use boots as often. I guess my boots will be packed up into the closet until Fall again. It gets so hot here on Maui that Spring and Summer months call for shorts, rompers, and dresses for me. However, this Winter was so much cooler than it has been in years, so I was able to utilize my boots this season. In honor of this interesting winter, I figured I would share my last winter outfit of 2019. Let’s get down to the deets, shall we?
I’m hoping this will be a quick post, but in case I ramble (as I did in my intro), I apologize for that. We all know that I love to get lengthy when I’m sharing… haha!
The Cardigan Duster is from Walmart, the Time & Tru brand. It is absolutely perfect for Fall or Winter months and is so soft like chenille. My sister actually lent this cardigan to me because the gorgeous green shade went so well with my outfit. My tie front, button-down, floral top is from a local boutique here in the Hawaii islands called Jeans Warehouse. Black distressed jeans are from Old Navy. My boots, my oh my, the boots… are one of my favorites. These boots are from American Eagle.
My handbag is one of my favorites in my collection. This Patricia Nash Cannes Satchel from the Heritage collection in Camel is gorgeous. I think this bag is so roomy and is the perfect bag for Fall, Winter or year round. My watch is Invicta. I have so many of them in my collection (at least 10, that I can’t recall which one). And, my sunglasses are my Coach Horse & Carriage shades. Bracelets that I’m wearing are handmade by me and I’m using my usual pendant and chain that you may see me sport daily.
Living in Hawaii means that most of the year, we are in cool and comfy clothes. But, I always look forward to the cooler months when I can pull out my boots and dress a little warmer. How about you, what are your favorite fall and winter staples?

If you had told me, this time last year, that I would be where I am today, honestly… I would have probably laughed in your face. It’s weird… because sometimes I look in the mirror or at recent photos of me and I still don’t comprehend that the person I’m looking at is actually me. It’s crazy to fathom and I honestly still can’t believe it. But, I’m reminded constantly that all I need to do is look in the mirror, and remind myself how far I’ve come. Today I’m sharing with all of you a winter outfit of the day (OOTD) featuring Pink. With my weight loss, I’ve been much more comfortable to do my outfit posts again so I’m excited to share this one with all of you.
I’m constantly trying to convince myself that the person I see in the mirror, is definitely me. Honestly, I didn’t think I’d get this far and lose as much weight as I have to date. They don’t tell you how much losing weight and trying to get healthier can f*ck with your mind. Sorry about the f-bombs, but it’s true. I still can’t believe I am down 100 lbs since I started this healthy journey 2 years ago. But, even when I feel broken down and tired, tired of working out and eating well and all those other things, I’m reminded to look in the mirror. Look in the mirror and remind yourself how far you’ve come! Okay, nuff with the emotional humdrum… and on to the outfit details.
My cute little tie-dye top is from Pink. I picked it up during a sale while I was there shopping for new sports bras. Honestly, it has easily become one of my favorites because it has a peek-a-boo back that is super cute. It’s a fun t-shirt to dress up or use casually and I love it. I have paired this Pink t-shirt with distressed jeans from Old Navy. These jeans are seriously one of my favorites since they are so comfy to wear. You may be seeing more of this pair in future posts. My handbag is from Patricia Nash Cannes Satchel from the Heritage Collection. My boots, these are what really make this outfit fun. The boots are from Charlotte Russe, sadly which is about to close down.
I have been busy working my crafts lately and found myself creating new arm candy to wear. In this outfit, I’m using bangles that are handmade by me. As usual, I’m sporting one of my Invicta watches and for sunglasses, I am using my Coach Horse & Carriage pair.

While this post isn’t as deep as I would like, I hope that it helped you today – at least to make your day shine bright. Remember, if no one has told you today… You’re awesome! No matter the path or journey you’re on, so long as you keep going, nothing can hinder your path. xo Honey

I can’t seem to figure out why I love pairing jeans with a t-shirt, but it’s a love of mine I can’t seem to overcome. The great thing about wearing jeans (in any wash, really) is that you can dress it up or down. Jeans pants are seriously that one staple item in the closet that goes with just about anything. I’m all about that casual flair and vibe this outfit gives off and while it may not be other’s cup of tea, I’ll rock it.
As a busy mom, I am usually rocking out a messy bun (we call it a tita bun here in Hawaii), shorts and a t-shirt on a daily basis, but I like to take my casualness and turn it up, if even only a notch. lol
As many of you know, I’m a total Potter Head. No, I’m not talking about the green stuff, I mean Harry Potter, silly… lol. This tee from the Harry Potter Collection was found at Walmart and was less than $10, so it was not only a bargain, but I fell in love with it. And, did I mention that it is a 2XL? It’s nice and slouchy on me (which I enjoy) and it fits, woohoo! When I wear any of my Harry Potter tees, I’m not sure why but I tend to pair my outfits with my Alex and Ani bracelets. I think they go well together and just offer great vibes all around.
The Outfit Details
Besides my Harry Potter Hogwarts Alumni Tee, I’m also using Refuge Skinny Jeans from Charlotte Russe in a size 16. These jeans are super comfy and I love the dark wash of the denim. They are also high-waisted which is perfect for my tummy area. To bump up this casual outfit a little more to something dressier and sexier, I added a pair of Hide and Peep Heels in Black from a local store here in Hawaii called Jeans Warehouse. My accessories are quite simplistic (as they usually are) so as I mentioned above I am using my Alex and Ani Bracelets with this outfit. For my watch, I’m using one of my Invicta Angel’s with a Black Silicone band and to carry all my mommy gear and essentials, I have been using my Coach Backpack. For sunglasses, I’m using a pretty affordable pair from Zoo York shades.
My makeup was quite simplistic as it usually is. I’ve been loving a fresh look with just mascara and a lippy lately. I’ve been also loving the Essence Cosmetics Water Kiss Glossy Lip Colors. I’m using a blend of Aquatic Chic and Mermaid Diary on my lips. Of course, for mascara my go-to’s are the L’Oreal Voluminous Base topped with the Essence Cosmetics The False Lash Mascara, Lash Princess and Volume Stylist. Can you see a trend here? I really am a HUGE fan of Essence and I’m so glad that we have an Ulta here now so I can actually buy their products on island. For my brows, I’m using the Beauty Junkees Tinted Brow Gel (another go-to).
Be sure to check out the video on YouTube (embedded below) for what I wore the week I used this outfit. I’ll be posting more of these in the future.

It’s been about a year since I last posted an outfit here on Honey Girl’s World. It honestly seems like a lifetime. I’ve been working incredibly hard on my physical, mental and emotional self over the last year and I’m finally comfortable posting outfits again. Don’t get it twisted, I am in no way a fashion blogger, but I love sharing my casual style with all of you. My goal is to get back to sharing affordable or budget-friendly outfits that I love and I hope you love them too.
I posted the above photo to my Instagram last week (when I actually wore this outfit) and everyone seemed to like it. It’s simple, but still offers a great style. I love that I can use this to a casual or dressy affair.
Can you wear Rompers in Fall?
Honestly, if you’re in Hawaii, you could probably get away with a romper for most of the year. But I live on a mountain. Our mornings are chilly and our late afternoons and evenings have crisp, cool air, so I love a sweater and some leggings. But, that’s why I love this romper from Xhilaration so much. It’s not only flowy and comfortable, but it can be worn off the shoulder if you’d like. It has gorgeous lace detailing on the shoulders and arms and covers up the shoulder with just a bit of peek-a-boo for that feminine appeal.
The Outfit Details
I wanted something that would still be a little warmer for Fall in Hawaii, while still allowing me to be cool. I mean, let’s be real for a second here… it’s still Hawaii and it’s still HOT! lol This gorgeous floral romper I am using is from Xhilaration which I purchased at Target. My Hide and Peep Heels in Black are from Jeans Warehouse (a local store here in Hawaii). My sunglasses are a pair that I’ve had for a few years from Quay Australia (unfortunately they are no longer available). For accessories, well, I kept it quite minimal and am using just a few Hawaiian Heirloom bangles for a little jingle and gold. My earrings are made of gorgeous Koa and Shell from a local Artisan named Kalai La’au (Infinitely Kerrie). I don’t change out my purses or handbags as often as I’d like, so you will probably see my Coach Backpack around for the next few weeks.
I went with natural look for my makeup on this day. My brows were filled in with the L’Oreal Brow Stylist Definer (Brunette). They were set in place with the Pixi Beauty Clear Brow Gel. I’m using a few coats of one of my favorite mascaras, Essence Cosmetics Volume Stylist 18h Lash Extension Mascara. For my lips, I am using the IT Cosmetics Vitality Lip Flush Stain topped with Essence Cosmetics Water Kiss Glossy Lip Color in Aquatic Chic.
Be sure to check out the video on YouTube (embedded below) for what I wore the week I used this outfit. My goal is to post more of these in the future, so I hope you enjoy them.
I also wanted to take the time to thank all of you that have really stuck by me the last year as I got my head on right. After my Daddy passed away in June 2017, I’ve struggled to be in the right mind space and it was a challenge to write anything on the blog. I appreciate all of you and thank you for sticking around. xo

When it comes to personal style, honestly… I’m super casual. I’ll rock a pair of jeans and a t-shirt any day of the week. However, when Spring and Summer head my way – that’s when I find myself picking out key pieces to really spruce up my otherwise “basic” wardrobe for something else. Finding anything stylish in Hawaii that fits me right is one of my biggest challenges of being a plus sized girl and let’s face it, Hawaii is so hot, it’s already difficult to find the right kind of fabric that won’t cling to all the parts I don’t want exaggerated. With a laundry list of things I’m so particular about, it’s no wonder I struggle to find anything to wear. lol But, I have recently ordered from Ashley Stewart online and boy oh boy am I happy to share my finds with all of you.
Ashley Stewart is a clothing store that caters to plus size women who love any kind of fashion. Whether it be casual or a night out on the town, Ashley Stewart has you covered with a variety of pieces and new arrivals in sizes 12-32. Let’s just stay that I’ve definitely found a new addiction and can’t wait for my next Ashley Stewart fix.
I am always on the hunt for plus size fashion that is fun and makes me feel confident in the skin I’m in. While I do have a casual personal style, I also love looking & feeling great in the hottest fashion styles & trends. With 89 stores across the United States and a website where I can shop in my leggings and from the comfort of my bed with jammies, I’m an Ashley Stewart Addict!
With new styles added every single day, you can save 40% off new arrivals when you checkout with code: PRIMP40.
I managed to build myself a pretty hefty wishlist while browsing the Ashley Stewart site but I was able to nail it down to some key pieces and fashion items I know that I’ll definitely get use out of and enjoy. The goal was to grab items that would allow me to use through Spring and Summer and all year round so today I’m going to share with you some of these pieces and the outfits I was able to put together.
I selected pieces that would could easily be transitioned from casual to dressy. That’s where this combo came about. The Hi-Lo Blouse with Drop Shoulders in the color Mandalay Lime (a gorgeous lime yellow) was the perfect pick. Yellow shades have long been a great pairing for my skin tone and this top absolutely spoke to me. Whether I’m using it with a pair of slacks or leggings or opting to dress it up with a skirt, this top is definitely a hit. For a casual look, I combined this top with the Stretch Sateen Bermuda Shorts. I have a thing for Sateen shorts because they have just the right amount of stretch and just sit so nicely on my waist. I also love how the material hugs you just enough to give you shape but without accentuating all my curves in the wrong way. Since they are bermudas, they come right to my knee and they seriously just look so classy. I know I’ll have fun styling these shorts with other pieces in my wardrobe.
Of course, I had to pair this outfit with a fun bag and some gorgeous wedges right? I seen this stunning Pineapple Cutout Dome Shoulder Bag and knew I just had to have it. With the Strappy Grommet Wedges, I knew my outfit was complete. Seriously, how gorgeous is that brown shade, love it!
The next outfit, well – I wasn’t about to pass up on this piece when I first laid my eyes on it. For years I’ve been a huge fan of jumpsuits. I own several in my collection already, but never one that was gaucho style. I absolutely fell in love with this Zip Front Gaucho Jumpsuit and knew it had to be mine. Do you know how hard it is to find a plus sized jumpsuit that fits well? It’s darn right impossible sometimes and this one is perfect. I wore it out with my family for a jazz concert my son was a part of and I seriously was styling.
I paired this jumpsuit with the Patterned Tie Back Block Heel and I thought everything looked great. I’m a fan of Ashley Stewart footwear because everything is wide width, which makes it easy to fit my wide feet. I sized up to a size 9 for my footwear because I normally use a size 8.5 W, but found that the 9 was a little too big. Nonetheless I am gonna make use of these babies, seriously how adorbs are they? I’m in love.
Remember how I said yellow was definitely my color? Well, I absolutely fell in love with this dress the moment I saw it on the home page of Ashley Stewart’s website. This Sleeveless Fit N Flare Dress in Madalay Lime is such a hot selection for Spring and Summer. It’s available in four other colors – Orange.com, Princess Blue, Black and White and is the perfect length for me to use with a variety of different looks. It will surely be a favorite piece in my wardrobe this season and I’m loving it paired with the wedges and shoulder bag I mentioned previously.
One of my favorite pieces for any time of year is anything black. This Tiered Bell Sleeve Surplice Romper is perfect for a casual or dressy affair. I love that it can be paired with any of the sandals I picked up from Ashley Stewart or even a cute pair of flip flops or sandals. With a deep v surplice neckline, self-tie belt and elastic waist, this romper is not only comfortable but easy to wear on the go.
A jacket or sweater is a great final touch to any outfit selection. I immediately set my sites on the Varsity Style Mesh Bomber Jacket. First of all, every lady needs a bomber jacket or two, or three (but hey, who’s counting). I have never seen a bomber jacket like this one before. Striped elastic bands give this jacket the perfect detail and a mesh body with zip front closure – makes this a winner year round. It’s girly and flirty for the perfect casual or dressy affair and I love it. I think this jacket is perfect for any plus size gal because it shows some skin without being too sexy… saucy style is totally in, right? Pair it with anything from a skirt to jeans (or shorts as I have) and you’ll find yourself loving your look.
*I paired this bomber jacket with the Ribbed Scoop Neck Tank, Stretch Sateen Bermuda Shorts and Wedges – all from Ashley Stewart.
As you can see from the range of styles I put together, you could have so much fun shopping with Ashley Stewart. This was my first time shopping on this site with this brand and I’m loving the quality of the clothes and accessories as well as the price point. I loved it so much, I placed another order to stock up on key designs that were just released.
Check out how some of my girlies styled their Ashley Stewart finds: Heather from Crazy Beautiful Makeup is rocking out her cute tees & denim, Sahily from Pretty In Pigment makes wearing white before or after Labor Day absolutely stunning. Southern Belle and one of my favorite bloggers Elle Sees makes me look forward to tea time in her florals and lastly, Mercedes from Beyond Beauty Lounge makes bold patterns in my favorite color purple – look absolutely divine.
If you’re planning to stock up on your spring and summer plus size wear, make sure to use CODE: PRIMP40 at checkout and save a little cash on your purchase. If you ask me, a discount is one of the biggest reasons that I will shop.
A little ‘in the know’ info…

So, what do you consider to be your personal style? Are you all about the dressy fashion or do you like casual flair?
I am totally looking forward to the summer months here on Maui. Summer months here mean spending most of my days lounging on the sand and enjoying the beautiful beaches that Maui has to offer. It also means that the sun is up longer during the day and that leaves more time for walks and working out later in the afternoon. But, due to a condition I’ve been dealing with lately – I’ve gained some weight and I have been covering up my body a little more than usual. Working out or hitting the beach for a plus sized gal can definitely be a challenge when you need to find clothes that fit. And, many women are too modest to wear a tankini or show too much skin. That’s where HydroChic comes in. This awesome company offers versatility in their active wear while giving you the option of covering up a little or just being comfortable. Being plus sized can be a challenge to find swim and active wear that fits and still looks good so today, I’m going to share this awesome brand with you to get you “Summer Ready”.
HydroChic is an athleisure wear line that is versatile and comfortable while offering gorgeous prints and colors for any style preference. HydroChic offers Mix-and-Match Swim and Active Wear that provides the wearer comfortable coverage with less skin, lots more style and UV Protection. There are more than 100 slimming mix-n-match separates to choose from, regardless of your size – girls, missy, plus sized, you name – they have it. And, if you’re like me and want a little more coverage, they got your “covered” literally. HydroChic offers lightweight, chlorine-resistant and chlorine-proof stretch fabric that dries really quickly and provides you with UPF 50+ sun protection. It’s durable, yet super flexible and allows you to use it at the beach or pool or to the gym, yoga or whatever your heart desires. It’s designed so that it doesn’t constrict movement and is sporty and figure flattering. With a variety of shorts, pants, leggings, long, short and sleeveless tops (with several bra options) and versatile swim dress, skirts and skorts – you are completely covered.
I am using the Black Tribal Sleeveless Swim n’ Gym Top (retail $72.00) that came with a Swim/Sports BRA with cups which make it easy for me to use with a little bit of push-up.

The bottoms are designed to sit at the natural waist line.
Now, I’ve had my HydroChic set for just under a year and it’s been washed and worn many many times. I throw mine in the dryer on the low setting to dry – though I definitely suggest line drying to help keep your HydroChic wear in optimal condition. Even after almost a year – each piece looks brand new so I know it’s made with quality materials and craftsmanship.
I absolutely love how comfortable these all fit on my body, no weird bunching and funky cuts that make sitting or standing odd. The top is perfect for me when running, walking or working out because it helps to keep me cool and it’s not overly form fitting so it is easy for me to move in – whether swimming, jogging or any type of sports, it’s just easy to use.
HydroChic is available at select stores throughout the US, Canada, Australia, South Africa and Israel, and online at www.hydrochic.com. Available in sizes Missy and Plus–4X. Prices range from $29.50 to $95.00.
About HydroChic – HydroChic, LLC. was co-founded by Daniella Teutsch and Sara Wolf, and launched in May, 2008. The idea came to them one day at the Jersey Shore as they watched women of all ages slather themselves with sunscreen and pull sloppy men’s t-shirts over their traditional bathing suits to protect their skin from sun damage. They knew that more fashionable coverage options were missing in the swimwear market. Only then did they realize how many other women were searching for the very same swimwear solutions. HydroChic is based in New Rochelle, NY.
With summer right around the bend, now is the perfect time to choose out a summer hit and I know HydroChic will be one you’ll enjoy. Back in my surfing days – I would have loved something like this because it would help to keep my “girls” in place without they bouncing around for everyone to see and I wouldn’t have to worry about my top or bottoms flying off after being tumbled in a wave. Any woman or girl who surfs, knows this dilemma and HydroChic would have made a great addition to my swim and surf wear back in the day. I’m glad I can utilize it now. The outfit is perfect for days when I take my sons to the beach or pool – because I don’t have to worry about one of them tugging on my top and it falling off revealing the girls… ya know?
HydroChic offers so many styles to choose from that I’m sure you’ll find something you enjoy. Shipping is very quick and I enjoyed it so much I purchased several for my sisters since they like to be a little more covered up when hitting the sand too. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll still rock a bikini or tankini but I love that I have an option if I’m just not feeling up to revealing some skin.

Living on a rock in the middle of the Pacific Ocean means that many times, we are last on the list to have any new stores or establishments open. So, because of this – I was quite excited to see that a new store made it’s way to the islands. BoxLunch (a pop culture gift store with a cause) will be opening its newest location today in Aiea, Hawaii on the island of Oahu, at the Pearlridge Shopping Center.
BoxLunch will celebrate their grand opening in-store on Saturday, April 1st and Sunday, April 2nd from 12pm to 4pm. BoxLunch offers a variety of thoughtfully curated selections of the world’s most popular licensed shirts, accessories, collectibles, beauty, home goods and gifts for everyone and anyone including the most dedicated fan to the more casual pop culture enthusiast.
What makes BoxLunch so awesome is the cause they work for. To fulfill its civic mission of “Get Some. Give Back”, BoxLunch will donate one meal to Feeding America for every $10 spent in-store or online. BoxLunch is proud to support national hunger-relief efforts as well as local efforts through Feeding America’s nationwide network of food banks, including the Hawaii Foodbank, Inc. which will directly receive a percentage of the donations raised at the Pearlridge Center BoxLunch Store. It is awesome that a store newly opened is giving back to its community – right here at home, in it’s own backyard.
“We are thrilled to open a BoxLunch in the Aiea community. Our mission is simple, sell the best product and use our business to inspire and implement solutions to help fight the hunger crisis on both a local and national level.” – Robert Thomsen, Vice President, General Manager of Merchandising and Marketing of BoxLunch.
BoxLunch retail storefronts across the country provide a way for the general public to be exposed to hunger relief and offer a means for their customers to easily give back through their purchases. The support has translated into more than two million meals donated to provide hope to families facing hunger in the United States.
I’m excited to stop in and check out the store the next time I’m on island. Sadly, I’m not located on Oahu, I’m on Maui – so I’ll need to wait till my next visit before checking it out. If you are on Oahu, I highly suggest stopping by Pearlridge Shopping Center and visiting the BoxLunch store. Whether you are a beauty lover or someone who loves anything fun, I’m sure you’ll find a plethora of products here for the pop culture obsesses to anyone who just loves to shop.

No, this is not what you are thinking… I’m not going to show you a demo on how I get wrinkles out of my clothes… ha ha ha! But, I did want to share with you a product that my family and I have been loving lately and it has been such a huge helper for me each day. You see, laundry for a household of 5 people can be a daunting task and I’m thankful that my eldest son Kevin Ka’eo has that chore to do. But, clothes get wrinkled… especially when your sons like to toss them in a basket for later use. With my husband needing freshly pressed clothes and the fact that I am constantly ironing my tops, the Downy Wrinkle Release Plus has been a huge help for me and my family.
Do you ever experience those days where your child wakes you up in the morning, telling you that they forgot to inform you the day before that their band uniform needs to be ironed because they have a concert at school that day? Well, my child has – on more than one occasion. And, that is just a small tidbit of what goes on in our household when it comes to wrinkled clothes. While clothes are clean, most the time they are a wrinkled mess… due to running late in the morning and tossing clothes everywhere through out the day. There truly is no time to pull the iron and the ironing board out of the closet in time to make the morning tardy bell for school. That’s where Downy Wrinkle Release Plus comes to our rescue. This awesome product (which is available in travel size, I might add) has been our lifesaver since first discovering it a month or so ago. I don’t know how I got ahead without it… oh wait, I do – I rushed to iron clothes the traditional way… ha ha ha!
Using the Downy Wrinkle Releaser Plus is so simple. You just spray the clothing (sheets and other items work too), tug and smooth the garment and hang to dry. It literally is ready in seconds and perfect in a pinch. I like to spray the clothing item in the wrinkled areas and toss it in our dryer for a quick, no fuss wrinkle release. Hanging to dry doesn’t take long however and most the time it’s ready within a matter of minutes – usually I have the boys put on their shoes and socks or make their snack for school and then put their shirt on. The Down Wrinkle Releaser is safe on virtually all fabrics, though they do advise that fabrics that may water-spot (silk and rayon) that you should test in a hidden area first.
My family and I are always on the go so having something that can assist at a moments notice helps to cut down my busy schedule. But, while Downy Wrinkle Release takes care of the wrinkles, it is also an odor eliminator, fabric refresher and static remover. I love that I have so many ways to utilize this product. I spray Downy onto my car seats and on the floor to help eliminate the odors from shoes and stuff and it has made a big difference. You can also use Downy Wrinkle Releaser as a fabric refresher and static remover or use it to aid in ironing (like spray starch). I love that I have so many options for this product that I literally keep one in every room. It’s perfect to spray our beds with if we are going to be out all day – because it really freshens the whole room and house.
Okay – now that I have shared with you my little secret helper, how’s about you head on over to your local store or check them out online and pick one up for you. Reasonably priced, great fragrance and it takes out wrinkles… well now, sounds like a keeper to me. Check out your local store to see if they have Downy Wrinkle Releaser Plus in stock or visit: http://downywrinklereleaserplus.com for more details.

Ah, Winter time in Hawaii is my favorite time of the year. Don’t get me wrong, I love the ocean and sand and the warm Spring and Summer months but Winter, well – when it’s cold that means my favorite Holidays are near. Winter in Hawaii is not your traditional warm coat and scarves, thermals and beanies… though, I’ll be honest – that hasn’t stopped me in the past from rocking them out and wearing them on a chilly day. Most of the time, our colder months will yield us about 70 degree weather which is quite comfortable for many. But, for me – living on the highest mountain on my island of Maui has its benefits. Between hot cocoa and marshmallows to warm fuzzy slippers and boots, I can usually dress warm since the mountain usually experiences between 50 – 60 degree weather during the winter time and sometimes it can even get to about 40 degrees. While we still enjoy our sunshine, the cold and crisp air allow me to really utilize my various winter clothing and dress up. This year we have already had a few cold chills come our way so I figured I would share how I tend to dress up when it’s chilly but the sun is still out. Here is how I stay warm during the Winter in Hawaii. It’s no secret that I am a tomboy girly girl. What does that mean you say? Well, it means I like the girly glittery things but I’m still a down home tomboy at heart. I like to get down and dirty, wrench on cars and shoot guns. While I love all the makeup and frilly things that come with being a female, I’m a true tomboy who will get my hands dirty and have a little fun. That also means that I like to dress in what fits well and feels good. Winter time for me is all about cozy and comfy so a great flannel (or plaid) jacket with a warm pair of boots will ALWAYS bring a smile to my face. Let’s take a look at my ensemble I have put together here, shall we?
I paired this particular plaid flannel with a pair of fuzzy Microfiber Boots from DAWGS because it reminded me of my teenage years in the 90s. Some of my favorite inspirations come from the women in the 90s like Da Brat, Aaliyah, Queen Latifah, Mary J. Blige, Missy Elliott, Eve, Charlie Baltimore, Lisa Left Eye Lopes & TLC. In the 90s when I was in high school, baggy jeans, flannel jackets and Timberlands were a part of my every day style so it’s something I still consistently gravitate to. It has that tomboy swag with a little old school that I love so you can basically find me dressed as such during cooler weather.
The DAWGS Women’s 9 inch Microfiber boot is one of the most popular boots from the brand. Built for comfort and warmth, the microfiber boots come padded with a memory foam insole and faux shearling liner. The boot is perfect for walking about when cold to keep warm because it has a slip-resistant rubber sole. The round toe and shorter 9 inch shaft fits a variety of foot and calf widths. If you’re still on the hunt for holiday gifts for friends and family, definitely check out DAWGS and their selection of footwear available. DAWGS makes great holiday gifts for loved ones and I purchase from them all the time, because my boys and husband love the quality that DAWGS products provide.
I’ve been a fan of DAWGS footwear for a while now because their pricing is reasonable, but mainly because of how comfortable the footwear is. I love these boots because they do not get hot, sticky and sweaty when the weather starts to get warmer and they are so cozy it’s like walking around with bedroom slippers. Not to mention, these boots fit my thick and chunky calves perfectly so they work well for a plus sized gal like me.
On a day when a flannel cover up is just too warm, I can transition my DAWGS Microfiber boots easily into a casual look without sacrificing the warmth they give me. In the look above I simply paired my jeans and boots with a t-shirt for a relaxed, casual look that allows me to be comfortable while still cozy.

Did I mention I just love boots…? I love a great boot but most of my boots have stiletto heels so I haven’t been able to use them due to an ankle injury I sustained about a month ago. That’s why DAWGS Microfiber Boots are my jam this winter. I think style is basically a matter of a person’s individual taste and how comfortable they are. Over the years I have put on some weight which has made it a little more of a challenge finding anything that fits, but overall anything that’s comfy, cozy and allows me to be me, works just fine. Yes, while Hawaii is warm, we do experience our own form of winter and since I live on the mountain, it gets a lot colder up here than most people realize. Puffy jackets, scarves and beanies are all products I pull out for winter wear and fuzzy warm boots make that list too.
If you are still on the hunt for Holiday Gifts this year, definitely head on over to DAWGS and check them out. They have sizes for the whole family and a wide array of footwear for every need no matter what time of the year.

Fall is my favorite time of year. Cooler weather means that we can dress warmer here in Hawaii and embrace the colder months. The thing about Hawaii though is that while it cools down, it can still be warm and humid. I wanted to provide you with a kind of universal Fall lookbook and style diary that offered you some warm weather cozy while still having something for a hot Hawaii day. Today I’m doing this post and video in collaboration with a fellow beauty and lifestyle blogger from Hawaii – Kathryn (Kath) from The Fabzilla. Make sure you head on over and show this gorgeous beauty some mad love too.
I hope you enjoyed this little style diary. Remember – as I always say, style really is personal preference. For me, I love to be comfortable and if the season allows – I love cozy. You can catch me in flip flops most time of the year unless it’s cold and then a pair of boots will always suffice. Since I injured my ankle badly – I’m unable to use a lot of my traditional footwear that I would pair with my outfits like flats or ballet slippers because my ankle is swollen and they won’t fit over my brace. But, nonetheless, I dress in what makes me comfortable. To me, just like makeup – style is a form of self expression.
I hope you are all enjoying your cooler weather. Don’t forget to head on over to check out Kath’s sweet looks – you’ll love her, classy style and a beauty.
