Product Reveal

Hi Friends.  I’m excited to share a new video with all of you.  Check out a few new things I found at the drugstore and some PR Goodies I received recently.  All information, as well as purchase links, can be found in the description of the video.  Have a wonderful day.

As many of you know, I’m a HUGE Hydro Flask supporter.  Everyone in my family owns at least two and I have an addiction sometimes, constantly wanting to pick up fun designs and colors.  So, I can’t tell you enough how excited I was to see Hydro Flask post sneak peaks of their Hawaii Collection on social media.  The day of the release, they actually hid several flasks throughout Maui and left clues for a scavenger hunt.  I didn’t get a chance to find one, but I was definitely excited to get my hands on one as soon as it hit our local stores.  Just in time for the holidays, the Hawaii Collection celebrates the spirit of Aloha with three gorgeous gradient colors and today I’m going to share them with you.

These gorgeous Hydro Flasks come in three colors – Moana, Anuenue and Pomaika’i.  They are inspired by the Hawaiian Islands and the special gradient color application is unique to this product release only.

Moana – which is inspired by the ocean.  Moana in Hawaiian means… “large body of water”.

Anuenue – which is inspired by the rainbows.  Anuenue also means “rainbow” in Hawaiian.

Pomaika’i – which is inspired by the sunsets.  Pomaika’i means “Good fortune or blessings” in Hawaiian.

Each bottle comes with a wide mouth opening for faster fill and flow.  They include TempShield insulation which eliminates condensation and keeps water cold up to 24 hours and hot up to 12 hours.  Like with other Hydro Flask products, you can expect to have the durable 18/8 Pro Grade Stainless Steel Construction and it is BPA-Free and Phthalate Free.  These 40 oz. Wide Mouth bottles pair perfectly with the Hydro Flip Lid and Wide Straw Lids so you can customize how you drink from your bottle.

When it comes to skin care, I try a lot of different products and I do have my favorites from different brands.  With sensitive skin, I always find that there are a lot of brands that cause my skin to flare up, so I’m very particular with what I use.  One of the brands I do enjoy is Derma E.  Today I’m going to share with you some exciting news and a little info as well as my thoughts on their Derma E Hydrating Day and Night Creams.

Derma E’s new packaging launched in September 2016 and I must say, I’m quite excited and loving the new design.  The products still offer the great quality we can expect from Derma E, with a sleek packaging quite different from what we are accustomed to.  With a new packaging design being rolled out through March 2017, you can expect to see this branding popping up in your favorite retailsers like Whole Foods, Sprouts, Ulta Beauty and many others.  There will be no compromising their great formulas – as you’ll still be getting their eco-ethical, non compromising formulas in a new packaging that is a stunner.  I honestly enjoy the fresh look of these, they look chic and branding is definitely on point.

To appeal 100% to their consumers, Derma E decided it was time to update their look and feel of the brand.  Their social sites, website, store displays and more will be changing (if they haven’t already) and you’ll notice the new branding through out.

About the Brand:

Ethical Beauty – Since 1984, our passion for health, wellness and environmental sustainability has grown strong.  We have high ethical standards and never compromise on skin health and safety.  Our 100% vegan, cruelty-free formulas do not contain parabens, sodium lauryl sulfates, petrolatum, mineral oil, artificial colors, gluten, soy or GMO’s.  Now that’s honest-to-goodness skin care.  Purchases support global communities and the environment.

In the photo below, you can see how the old packaging (Derma E Hydrating Day Creme) compares to the new packaging (Derma E Hydrating Night Cream).  While the logos are similar, they still offer a very different feel than before.  I like how the new packaging really encompasses the lotus and offers branding that really is on par with the brand and their products.

I have used various products from Derma E in the past, but this is the first time I’ve had the opportunity to try the Hydrating Day and Night Creams.  I wanted to share my thoughts with you on these products and chit chat about how they have been working with my sensitive skin.

The Derma E Hydrating Day Creme with Hyaluronic Acid offers my very dry skin Intensive rehydrating treatment in one use.  For just $29.50 you get 2 oz / 56 g worth of product that is perfect for dry to normal skin.  I love how thick this cream is.  It smooths onto the face nicely and offers my face the much needed moisture to keep from flare ups and irritations.  It is perfect to be used under your makeup and works well with other skin care products in my regimen.  The hydrating day cream helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by replumping the skin with moisture.  With Hyaluronic Acid to deliver powerful hydration to help keep skin soft, smooth and youthful looking.  It also includes Vitamins A, C & E plus an antioxidant Green Tea to help protect the skin from environmental damage.

Ingredients: Purified Water (Aqua), Cetyl Alcohol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Glycerin, Stearic Acid, Glyceryl Stearate, Ceteareth 20, Sodium Hyaluronate (Hyaluronic Acid; Actimoist® Bio-1), Ascorbyl Palmitate (C-Ester), Panthenol (Provitamin B5), Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Retinyl Palmitate (Vitamin A), Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Extract, Organic Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract* (.1%), Organic Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract* (.1%), Organic Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil* (.1%), Titanium Dioxide, Allantoin, Polysorbate 60, Dimethicone, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Plumeria Blossom Fragrance.

The Derma E Hydrating Night Cream is especially great for my dry skin.  Retailing for $29.50 (2 oz / 56 g) you get a lot of product to help keep up with your skin care regimen.  The Hydrating Night Cream has Hyaluronic Acid and other beneficial ingredients (just like the day cream) to help keep your skin supple and moisturized.  Like the Hydrating Day Creme, the Night Cream is extra-rich and thick.  It offers intense hydration to help replenish all of the anti-aging moisture to your skin while you sleep.  The Vegan based Hyaluronic Acid replumps the skin to help reduce the appearance of dryness, fine lines and wrinkles.  And, the antioxidant rich Green Tea and enriching Vitamins A, C and E help to soften and smooth the look of dehydrated skin.

Ingredients: Purified Water (Aqua), Glycerin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Sodium Hyaluronate (Hyaluronic Acid; Actimoist® Bio-1), Ascorbyl Palmitate (C-Ester), Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Retinyl Palmitate (Vitamin A), Panthenol (Provitamin B5), Allantoin, Organic Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract* (.1%), Organic Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract* (.1%), Cetyl Alcohol, Stearyl Alcohol, Dimethicone, Xanthan Gum, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer (Aristoflex®), Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Plumeria Blossom Fragrance.

I’ve been using these two products now for about 3 1/2 weeks and combine them with other Derma E products I love.  With colder weather on its way to Hawaii, my skin tends to get drier and I am always in need of good moisturizers and creams to help keep my skin / face looking youthful.  Since I haven’t used these products before, I was not only intrigued to give them a whirl, but also impressed with how well they do work.

I love moisturizing products that provide my skin with the much needed hydration they need, but that do not clog my pores or cause me to have any funky reactions.  That’s why I love Derma E products so much.  Used with other skin care that I love, I know that I’ll get the moisture I need, without sacrificing the quality I’ve come to expect.  Both creams smooth into my skin nicely and absorb quickly – but you must make sure that you do not use too much.  Since each of these creams are fairly thick, a light, thin layer is all you need.  If you naturally have oily skin, I think these creams may be a bit too thick for you, but for someone with dry skin like myself, they seem to work very well.  In my honest opinion though, I’m not too fond of the fragrance for both of these products, so I’m glad that once it soaks into my skin, I can’t smell it as much.  Living in Hawaii, Plumeria is something you smell often here, but since I now have sensitivities to fragrances, I find that it is a bit too strong for me.  Thankfully, it fades after a few minutes, but that also means I can’t use these products on days when my allergies are at its worst, because those few minutes – can seem like an eternity when I’m already sneezing like a mad woman.

derma e, products, skin care, new packaging, derma e skin care, review, product review, day cream, packaging, branding, beauty, anti-aging, cream,

I enjoy the texture of both products and my skin loves them – it’s perfect for my dry Eczema prone skin.  Derma E products are fairly affordable and I love that I can walk into my local Whole Foods and pick up a few products when I need them.  There hasn’t really been a product I haven’t enjoyed from Derma E and any of them that I struggle with, I have learned to adapt according to my skin care and needs.  I’m loving the new packaging as well – while I’m a fan of purple and loved how they really were bold and bright, I think the new packaging offers a serenity to the brand and I enjoy it.

So what about you?  Are you liking the new packaging / branding for Derma E?  Have you tried Derma E products before, and if so – what are your favorite products?

Let’s face it, raising a child at any age can be a challenge – but the first few years of a child’s life are a learning curve.  As my children grow each and every day, I’m reminded of how different they are – all three of them have their own personalities.  My eldest, well – as a baby and a toddler, he was very easy going and after he was a month old, he pretty much slept through the night allowing me to get rest and still go to work full time while caring for him.  The twins… well, that’s a whole different story.  They were up at all hours of the day and night and at different times.  They nursed differently – though they did everything together and still do – they have consistently kept me on my toes, well – they still do that too.  But, one things for sure… as a parent, while all advice may not be specifically geared to be a “fix all” for each child, they are great stepping stones for you to develop a pattern and a solution to fit your needs.  Today I share with you a really cool and interesting read called The Natural Baby Sleep Solution by Polly Moore, Ph. D.  This book has been a great addition to my library and I’m going to share a few of my thoughts with you on it today.

book talk, reading, book review, the natural baby sleep solution, reading, book, parenting book, baby book,

If you are a mother… then you know that we have all been there… a time when we are feeling a heavy dysfunction and disarray that plagues our daily thoughts.  The lack of sleep due to a crying or fussy baby or the stress of feeling like we have failed.  Mothers (fathers too) often experience these times within the first year of their child’s life or right around the age when your baby starts teething.  It’s natural but no matter how many times I tell you that we’ve all been there, it doesn’t make the situation any better.  The Natural Baby Sleep Solution literally is the answer to many parents’ prayers.  This book is written by a scientist whose mind is naturally geared towards scientific research and connection, but also by a mother who an relate to how we as mothers are feeling.  Polly Moore understands the ins and outs of being a parent and this book is a great approach at working a little bit of experience, science and research and love into an equation that parents have struggled with for years.

By utilizing the N.A.P.S. Plan in the book – Polly Moore explains that this simple plan will help in encouraging longer sleep periods.  It’s basically a mother’s natural instinct in science form.  The plan is relatively simple:  When your baby wakes up – keep a clock for 80 minutes and then start winding your baby down for a nap when it hits that time point.  By the 90 minute mark, get your child to bed.  Even if the naps are short, back to sleep at 90 minutes to establish not only a routine but a cycle.

When my twins were younger, they NEVER took a nap.  Don’t get me wrong, it’s not because I wanted to keep them up – but because they just wouldn’t fall asleep.  Later in the day when they were beyond exhausted, they either fell asleep unable to keep their eyes open or they were so wired from the lack of a nap, they stayed up all night.  The Natural Baby Sleep Solution allows you to use a few tips in guiding your child into sleeping so that they know what it feels like to be tired and want a nap – therefore giving your child the skills needed to stay asleep longer at night.  The concept is genius and one I wish I had known about prior to having my children.  Should I have any more kids in the future, I’m glad that I was able to read this book and hope to incorporate the teachings in this book for later.

book talk, reading, book review, the natural baby sleep solution, reading, book, parenting book, baby book,

By reading this book, I think it’s a great asset in teaching a parent to watch for the signs of when a child is ready to rest.  It’s not a sleep training type of book but instead gives you the tools to be able to better see the cues from your child to help with that type of situation.  It also helps in you guiding your child to be able to sleep easily – “goodnight” and close the door, etc.  Like with anything else you read that are “baby help” books, you must have an open mind and know that what might work for you and your child may not work for others and vice versa.  Again, each person is an individual – as are their children and books like these should be used as a guide and a tool – not a strong arm.

I enjoyed reading through The Natural Baby Sleep Solution by Polly Moore, Ph.D. and I am glad I was able to experience this book and the N.A.P.S. Plan.  I look forward to  including this book for other mothers at baby showers or baby gifts as I think it would make for a great read for anyone with a new born or little one.  I look forward to trying out some of this technique should I have any more children or nieces/nephews in the future.

Have you read or heard of this book before?  If so – what are your thoughts, if not – is this something you could utilize or incorporate into your mommy guide library?

It’s absolutely no secret that Milani lipsticks are quite possibly some of my favorites at the drugstore and I recommend them consistently.  I was quite impressed when Milani rolled out the new Moisture Matte Color Statement lipsticks to their line and couldn’t wait to get my hands on them.  These gorgeous lippies are packed with stunning color, a matte texture and finish and all kinds of gorgeous.  Here are my thoughts and what I think about each.

Milani Moisture Matte Color Statement Lipsticks

The Milani Moisture Matte Color Statement lipsticks come in a total of 8 new shades and retail for $5.99 on  These lipsticks are starting to pop up at local CVS, Walgreens and Fred Meijer stores as well as select Kmart locations.  So why the hype?  Milani went bold and daring with some of the shades this year but also offer a matte texture (in my opinion they are more of a satin-matte type) in shades you can’t often get at the drugstore.  These bold pops of color offer a wide range of shades to compliment your style, skin tone and are going to be a hit this Spring and Summer.  Besides the eight shades, Milani also rolled out 2 additional pink toned shades to add to the fun.

Want to see me try-on each lipstick and provide swatches live?  Check out my video here.

Each lipstick is matte in texture, but I’m pretty impressed at how they feel on the lips.  They are much more comfortable on the lips than I would expect from any matte lipstick however, since they are not as drying as most mattes, they also do not have the staying or staining power of a regular matte lipstick.  Don’t get it twisted, these still have nice staying power, but a little more slip than a matte lipstick that I’m used to.

Milani Moisture Matte Color Statement Lipsticks

Catwalk and Power pink are new additions to the original Color Statement collection.  Both of those shades are matte / satin like textures and apply smoothly and nicely to the lips.  Both are bright shades and gorgeous for the Spring and Summer months.

Ingredients: Isononyl Isononanoate, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Polyethylene, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Cera Microcristallina (Microcrystalline Wax), Synthetic Wax, Mica, Stearalkonium Hectorite, C30-45 Alkyl Dimethicone, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Cetyl Dimethicone, Propylene Carbonate, Dimethicone, Ethyl Vanillin, Pentaerythrityl Tetra-di-t-butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate, Laureth-4, Dicalcium Phosphate. +/- May Contain: Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), Red 6 (CI 15850), Red 7 (CI 15850), Red 28 (CI 45410), Red 34 (CI 15880), Yellow 5 (CI 19140), Blue 1 (CI 42090), Manganese Violet (CI 77742).

Milani Moisture Matte Color Statement Lipsticks Swatches

Now, if you have dry lips naturally – you surely want to make sure you exfoliate your lips prior to application.  While these have an almost satin like feel on the lips, they can still accentuate the dryness and cracks in your lips.  Honestly – after using a variety of matte lipsticks from high-end and drugstore brands, this can definitely happen, so preparation prior to application is the key.

Milani Moisture Matte Color Statement Lipsticks

If you are a matte lipstick lover, I definitely would recommend these.  I think the shade range is nice and if you are a pink lover, you’ll find some pretty awesome pinks in this bunch.  While they are reasonably comfortable on the lips, they can still be drying and I definitely suggest exfoliating your lips or applying lip balm prior to application.  Since these do not stain as much as a normal matte lipstick, I also suggest a good lip liner (Milani has quite a few shades) applied before putting these lipsticks on to keep them in place and to help eliminate some of the slip they have and for longevity.  Overall at the price point, they are still pretty nice and I have been enjoying them.

Have you tried these new lippies from Milani?  If you have, what are your thoughts on these?  Be sure to check out the Video embedded above or click here to watch directly on YouTube for live swatches on try-on of each lipstick shade.  Go to to see the selection of shades or your local drugstore that carries Milani products.

Signature Honey

It’s no secret that I consider my lips to be one of my best assets… well, besides the fact that I’m well endowed in other areas, but that is definitely a subject for another post… teehee.  While I do have my cult and holy grail favorites when it comes to lip care items, I am a sucker for lip butters and I am willing to spend the price on one that works and does the job just as it says.  I can count my favorites on one hand so I was quite intrigued to see how this particular one would match up with some of my favorites.  Having never tried the Teadora Nourishing Lip Butter before (or any of the products from this brand for that matter), I couldn’t wait to put it to the test.Teadora Rainforest at Dust

Let me start by saying that anything and I mean anything that smells like chocolate that I can put on my face… is already a seller for me.  Immediately upon opening the packaging and before opening the little box the lip butter came in – I could smell a soft hint of chocolate.  Nothing overpowering but enough of a fragrance that I was immediately entranced by it.  This lip butter (in a very generous sized pot) retails for $15.00 and includes 0.5oz/15mL worth of product.  Now, if you know anything about me… it’s that as much as I love Lip Butters, I’m not a fan of the pot and the fact I have to dip my hands into it to get the product out.  But, I’m not gonna lie, I have and will continue to make the exception with this product.

Teadora Rainforest at Dust

The lip balm is quite firm at first touch so using this as a balm and applying with your fingers is definitely best.  It’s as easy as swirling your finger on the balm and rubbing onto your lips.  I love that this can also be used as a light exfoliant before moisturizing.  Simply scoop a larger portion of the butter with your finger, apply to your lips, and lightly remove with a damp warm wash cloth.  After you are done exfoliating, go ahead and swirl your finger on the butter again and apply to your lips to moisturize for soft lips that last all day.  The balm not only smells like berry and chocolate but it has a light flavor of chocolate with a hint of berry too.

Teadora Rainforest at Dust

Each lip butter is packed with antioxidant and vitamin-rich Buriti, Brazil Nut, Andoriba, Maracuja (passion fruit), Acai oils, Cupuacu, Murumuru, Mango butters plus Carnauba Wax to help moisturize your lips, add extra vitamins needed to heal your lips, protect them from UV Rays, anti-aging benefits and so much more.  The Acai-Acu (which has that berry chocolate flavor) also provides the light exfoliation and hydration for your lips making this product a benefit for your puckers.

Ingredients: Organic Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Organic Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax, Astrocaryum Murumuru (Murumuru) Seed Butter , Mangifera Indica (Mango) Seed Butter, Theobroma Grandiflorum (Cupuaçu) Seed Butter, Organic Euterpe Oleracea Fruit (Açaí) Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Wax, Organic Mauritia Flexuosa Fruit (Buriti) Oil, Bertholletia Excelsa Seed (Brazil Nut) Oil, Non-GMO Tocopherol (mixed Ester – Vitamin E), Carapa Guianensis (Andiroba) Nut Oil, Eugenia Uniflora Fruit (Pitanga) Extract, Ascorbyl Palmitate (Vitamin C), Passiflora Incarnata (Passionfruit) Seed Oil, Organic Stevia Rebaudiana Bertoni, Natural Flavor.

Not into a chocolaty flavor or scent? Don’t worry, because Teadora offers this lip butter in two scents/flavors:  Dawn (which has a citrus type scent/flavor) and Dusk which is this one having a chocolate/berry scent and flavor.

Teadora Rainforest at Dust

I absolutely love that Teadora’s Lip Butters are 100% vegan. They are free of parabens, synthetic fragrance, silicone, gluten, phthalate, sulfates and other harsh chemicals which we try so hard to avoid in our skincare today.  This product has become a favorite in my daily routine, especially now during the colder months when my lips are most dry.  The pot seals up nicely which allows me to travel with it or toss it in my purse without any issues and while the pot includes much more product than I would expect, I love that this gives me the opportunity to do double duty and use as both a lip butter or light lip scrub.

For the price point on this item, you are getting two in one and a delicious treat for your lips.  I definitely recommend this product and I know it will be one of my favorites moving forward.  I can’t wait to try out Dawn.  Also, by purchasing Teadora products, you are also supporting sustainable agriculture in Brazil to help stop rainforest deforestation.

Have you tried anything from Teadora before?  What are your favorite lip butters available on the market today?  I would love to hear from you so be sure to leave a comment down below.

For a few months now since the original sneak peaks were released, I have been anticipating the Lorac Mega Pro Palette going on sale.  I stayed up most of the night waiting for the release of the Lorac Mega Pro and was lucky to get me a palette off of their Amazon website.  It was shipped quickly and delivered within five days of my order which I thought was an absolute plus.  Not to mention it also arrived in tact considering I have been told that many of my friends received their Amazon orders damaged due to the packaging the palette was shipped in.  I was a bit bummed to hear that the product itself had sold out and that it would not be released again on Lorac’s site, but I’m not gonna lie… I’m happy that I got my hands on one.  This palette is literally turning into one of my favorites.

Lorac Mega Pro

The Lorac Mega Pro retailed for $59.00 and comes with a total of 32 shades.  The palette itself is similar in look and feel of the Lorac Pro and Lorac Pro 2 but includes twice as much shades as the original two palettes released.  This palette includes a combination of matte and shimmer/metallic shades and a range of neutrals and a few pops of color that can compliment any eye look or makeup collection.

This palette includes a few shades that are in repeats from the Pro and Pro 2 palettes like White, Cream, Espresso, Black – four shades that they label “must-have basics”.  The other shades are 28 brand new exclusive shades to this palette.

Just like Lorac Pro palettes 1 and 2 – the Mega Pro includes beautifully pigmented and buttery shades.  That’s one of the reasons they are some of my favorites.  The quality of each shadow is the same as you would expect and applying and blending the shades are a dream… easy and effortless.  I love eye shadows that are buttery because it makes blending a little easier and there is something about the Lorac Matte shades in these Pro palettes that are unexplained… they blend so easily without sticking – if that makes any sense.

Lorac Mega Pro

There is a mix of cool and warm tones through out the palette but what I love about this palette specifically is that range of warm tones and cool tones.  This would be a great palette for a makeup artist kit.  I also love that each shade name is labeled directly on the palette – so there is no guessing.  Mattes are on the top two rows, shimmer/metallic shades on the bottom two rows making it easy to work with.

Lorac Mega Pro

If you are not familiar with using any of the shades from either of the Lorac Pro palettes, I do want to warn you… the shimmer shades are super buttery which offer a softer texture than what most people are used to.  It can also give you quite a bit of fall out if you are not careful – so make sure to tap off your brush before applying to your eye lids.

My favorite shades through out the palette include:  Mulberry (matte), Dusty Plum (matte), Wisteria (matte), Cashmere (shimmer), Smokey Topaz (shimmer), Maroon (shimmer), though I’ll be honest and say choosing a few favorites was quite difficult.  If there was one shade I am not too keen about… it would be Lilac (matte) because I think it is just too light against my skin, though I still use it.

Overall I think this palette really impressed me as much as I knew it would.  As much as I love it, I’m a bit disappointed that it was not available longer or that there wasn’t a larger stock considering the hype this product received.  In all honesty, I think this palette would make a great part of the Lorac’s permanent line and it would be a great addition if they decided to make it such, that is my hope anyway.

Did you have the opportunity to get your hands on a Mega Pro?  If so – what are you thoughts?  If not, what Limited Edition palettes do you have your eyes on for the Holidays?

This is my third Lip Monthly bag I received so far and I am sharing it with you.  Lip Monthly is another subscription beauty bag that includes majority of lip goodies that you can enjoy.  Here’s what I got in this month’s bag.

Lip Monthly October 2014

I really enjoyed the fact that they included a new bag this month – which they stated on their card included in their bag.  It reminds me of a blend between Summer and Halloween for some reason and I think it’s cute.  This month I received five products in my bag – I think I would have gotten one more if I reviewed my September bag, but I didn’t get around to doing so.

This month Lip Monthly wanted to celebrate fall with the perfect shade of nude that you could pair with a smoky eye.  Four lip products and one eye pencil were included and I liked that a lip sugar scrub was included also since winter is when your skin and lips get the most dry.  The monthly subscription costs $10 and there have been a few changes in their packaging since first heard of them.  This month majority of the products included were for the lips, Here is the break down of the products:

Starlook’s Lip Scrub – These lip scrubs retail for 5 for $10 so that means that this one lip scrub we received would be $2.00

Noyah Lip Balm – This balm retails for $3.99 and we received the retail size of this product.

J. Cat Nude Lipstick in Honey Crisp – we received the full size lipstick which retails for $2.99

deVine Lip Shimmer – we received the full size pinot noir which retails for $4.95

LA Girl Eyeliner in Brown black – we received the full size which retails for $3.00

Overall retail value of the bag: $16.93

While the products in the bag still outweigh the cost you pay each month, I am in hopes that future bags will have an increase of value in the products received.  I’m quite excited to try out some of the products, I’ve been using the deVine Lip Shimmer which has a hint of color but is still pretty sheer on me as well as the Noyah Lip Balm which I am liking.  But I think I still expect a little more.  Since this bag is in the early stages, I hope to see some improvement in future bags.

It seems like forever since I posted about my Ipsy Glam Bags on my blog or even did a video about it – so I decided I would talk about this month’s bag.  I have been an Ipsy subscriber now since December 2011 but it seems like this year I experienced many challenges with shipping and I’m sad to say that I will ride it out till the end of the year and probably cancel.  Here are the goodies in my Ipsy Glam Bag October 2014.

Ipsy Glam Bag - October 2014

Ipsy is a $10 a month subscription and includes a variety of beauty products from skincare, makeup, nail polish and nail care and hair goodies.  This months theme: Beauty Candy included a variety of brands, some of which we have received in our bags before and some new.

This month I received the following products:

Ecru New York Acacia Protein BB Cream Beauty Balm for Hair – I received another beauty balm (bb cream) for hair in last months bag and never used it.  Honestly, I don’t know that I would be using this product so I’ll be putting it on the side.  Full size is 1.0 fl oz and retails for $12.00.  The full size product was sent in this month’s bag.

Figs & Rouge Shea Butter Limited Edition Hand cream – we all know I’m a lotion addict and I am looking forward to tossing this in my bag and adding it to my lotion stash.  I received a sample size (maybe deluxe sample) tube of the product.  Full size product is 20ml / 0.67 fl oz and retails for $6.56.  Full size product was sent in this month’s bag.

Jesse’s Girl Mineralized Baked Powder Shadow – this shadow color is really nice and I guess you can never have enough eye shadow.  The full sized product was included in this month’s bag and retails for $3.99

Starlook’s Lip Gloss – this nude toned gloss is really nice and not sticky which I enjoy.  This would be great for travel because it is really tiny.  A Sample sized was received in this month’s box of Guilty Pleasure.  This gloss retails for $12.00 full sized – I’m unsure of the amount included in full size or sample.

Skyn Iceland Mini Glazier Cleansing Cloths – I haven’t used these yet but I’m always a bit leery when it comes to makeup remover wipes or cleansing cloths because of my sensitive skin.  I’ll be sure to do a mini review if I test them out.  These clothes retail for $15.00 for a full sized packet that includes 30 wipes.  The sample included in this month’s bag includes 10 cloths and would retail for approximately $5.00.

Total retail value for the products received in the October 2014 Ipsy bag = $30.00.  This is an estimated value as there is one or two items that I needed to guess the actual amount due to the sample size.  Overall you are getting your money’s worth from the bag, but this bag’s retail value for products included is probably one of the cheapest I have had in the last year.

Ipsy Glam Bag - October 2014

Overall at $10 a month it’s still a pretty good deal considering the number of products you receive.  I haven’t been at all excited for my bags lately because they really haven’t showcased the “wow” factor for me.  While I’m sure I’ll get use out of this month’s contents – especially the makeup bag, I wish there were more items that I could utilize this fall.  I would have loved to see a bronze or brown shadow in the mix.  If you are interested in signing up for Ipsy – it is $10 a month or you can decide to sign up for a full year and get a discount.  You can sign up here:

Have you tried the Ipsy subscription service?  What do you think of it?  I know I didn’t get into a lot of detail with regard to the bag… but as I use the products (if I use them), I’ll be sure to post about them.

It is no secret that I am a huge fan of Milani Cosmetics and those that have been following me a while know that I use at least one product in each of the looks I create.  A few years ago, I purchased my first Milani eye shadow palette – A Runway Eyes kit and I enjoyed the pigmentation as well the price point and because of this I was completely hooked.  Fast forward five years and I am still craving that gold packaging… I consider Milani the high-end brand of drugstore cosmetics.

Milani Constellation Gel Eye Liners

Recently Milani Cosmetics released a Limited Edition collection of goodies as a part of their Bedazzled Collection. The Constellation Gel Eye Liners available in three shades: 01-Enchanted Lapis, 02-Enchanted Black Opal and 03-Enchanted Emerald retail for $5.99 on and can also be found at select Walgreens locations for a limited time.

Milani Constellation Gel Eye Liners

Check out my thoughts on these liners in my video review embedded below or click here to watch directly on YouTube.

Each Constellation Gel Eye Liner comes with 0.14oz/4g of product and an eyeliner brush.  The liners are encased in the signature Milani gold packaging but the pot itself is quite lightweight in comparison to other Milani products.  I’m quite impressed with the packaging for these liners as it has a twist off/on cap that allows you to keep the liner protected and sealed shut when not in use.  The brush that comes with the product is well made in my opinion and I have been enjoying using it not only with these liners but also with others in my collection.  It’s dense enough to pick up product but still soft enough against the skin, no tugging.  While this brush is small, it picks up enough product needed and allows you ease of control & is easy to hold considering it’s size.

Milani Constellation Gel Eye Liners

At first glance, these gel liners are absolutely gorgeous in the pot… so much so that I didn’t want to open them, swatch them or use them.  I knew right away that the top layer of the liners had an over spray and I knew once I dipped into the pot, I would be sacrificing the gorgeous “Galaxy” look they had.  I was quite eager to try these in hopes that they would be as “galactic” (see what I did there? lol) as I thought they looked in the pot.

Milani Constellation Gel Eye Liners

Each liner is very creamy – much more creamy than I am used to and because of this… I think it offered a heavy amount of slip through the application process.  While applying, I had to take my time and apply in layers to not only build up the metallic look of each shade but also to get it to the consistency I want.  It didn’t take much to build it up.  As you used each product, while it still held the “metallic” look with some shimmer, the product lost the “over spray” I had mentioned I thought it had.

Milani Constellation Gel Eye Liners

01 – Enchanted Lapis is a gorgeous blue shade with a metallic sheen.  When applied it shows up a much deeper shade than what you see initially.  I would consider the end result a kind of metallic navy blue.

Milani Constellation Gel Eye Liners

In the pot, before use… Enchanted Lapis looks like it has blue, purple, silver and turquoise shades – but overall, when applied, it applies the metallic navy blue shade you see on my eyelid.

Milani Constellation Gel Eye Liners

02 – Enchanted Black Opal reminds me of a deep chrome/charcoal black shade when applied.  This color has light flecks of shimmer that can be seen in the application.

Milani Constellation Gel Eye Liners

In the pot, before use… Enchanted Black Opal has black, silver, pink and gold over spray in the pot before touching the product.  It’s gorgeous – but even in my swatch or use on my eyelid, only black/silver and some flecks of silver glitter were visible.

Milani Constellation Gel Eye Liners

03 – Enchanted Emerald applies and looks like a teal / emerald green when used or swatched.  There is are some small flecks of shimmer, but for the most part this looks metallic on the lid.

Milani Constellation Gel Eye Liners

In the pot, before use… Enchanted Emerald has a gorgeous array of shades in the overspray.  Dark emerald green, turquoise blue, bright green and purple are all laid upon the top of this liner.

Milani Constellation Gel Eye Liners

As you can see from the swatches, any of the pretty effects you see on the liner before use are no longer visible for the most part once you apply the liner.  While I don’t necessarily consider that a con, it would be awesome if these liners offered that option.  Each of them do lend for a gorgeous metallic hue which I think is still quite stunning.

Milani Constellation Gel Eye Liners

Now that I’ve given you the low down of these Milani Constellation Gel liners… let’s talk about my thoughts overall.  I think these are absolutely gorgeous in the pot and it’s disappointing that they lose that gorgeous overspray once you use the product.  However, I don’t think that is the most disappointing.  As much as I tried to love these, I struggled with the use of them.  After trying different techniques, I think the formulation could use a little adjusting.

First off all – these claim to be Smudge Proof and will “last from dusk to dawn”.  I have tried on many occasions to get these liners to stay in place for me… but they either run, smudged or became a mess and using them longer than an hour left me with panda eyes.  I have tried to set them with a powder shadow, but that did not quite work for me.  After using these for about a month, I found that the best way to apply for the best longevity would be to apply in light layers and build the color up.  However, even with that – it still smudged on my oily eyelids and I am not able to use it as a daily liner or out at night on a hot day or it will get everywhere.  Using these liners as an all over shadow base may work for some, but I also found the liner to be too creamy for me and because of this the shadow I applied on top moved around quite a bit and then creased in a short amount of time. I think these would be awesome for someone who does a lot of theatrical work or someone looking for a statement liner and something that doesn’t offer longevity.  I’m sure some of my cons may have some to do with the fact that I live in a humid/hot climate, but overall I had some difficulty getting the liners to stay in place, in tact and on my eyelids during each use.  Wearing this in my waterline caused my eyes to be irritated and again – I looked like a Panda who hadn’t slept in a week.  While these did not work for me, I’m still very impressed with how they look.  I think the overall creaminess and texture of the product could attest to the slip that the product offers.  At the price point, I think it’s definitely worth checking out to see if it will work for you as I know well that what may not work for me may work for someone else.  But for me, I consider these a miss, though that doesn’t mean I won’t try to make use of them in future looks.  Milani stole my heart years ago and while one product may not work for me, that doesn’t mean I still don’t love them so. Have you tried these liners? If not, is this something you have been interested in?  I would love to know your thoughts on this.
