When I was younger, my dad used to say that it was a challenge to buy a gift for the man who has everything… happy life, lots of possessions, roof over his head and it’s something that I always remember when out shopping this time of year.  But, this year – I though about it and realized that while I’m thinking of things to buy for the men in my life, my man is trying to figure out what to get me.  It’s no secret that I am a lover of all things beauty – it is what I talk about here on the blog several times a week, right?  It can be a challenge for my husband to buy “beauty related” items for me each year, so most of the time he just gives me his credit card and says… “have fun”.  But, not every one has that opportunity and sometimes shopping for a woman who loves beauty and makeup can be a daunting task.  Today, I share with you some of my favorite beauty items that I think would make anyone happy to receive.  If you are on the hunt for something for the lady in your life, this holiday gift guide may be for you.

Oh Colour Pop how I love thee.  When it comes to makeup, one of my biggest collections of cosmetic products comes from Colour Pop Cosmetics.  Whether it’s their highlighters or blushes, lipsticks or eye shadows I haven’t met a Colour Pop product I wasn’t happy to get.  With Colour Pop’s release of the Hello Kitty Collection  I basically got Colour Pop and Hello Kitty in one little selection and both are such loves I couldn’t contain the happy.  Anything from Colour Pop would make a great gift and the quads they have available in a wide variety of shades would make any beauty lover happy.  If I had to pick, I definitely suggest getting the shadows – with over 120 shadows myself, trust me when I say – I love them.

Colour Pop – $5.00 to $40.00 (depending on what you purchase) http://www.colourpop.com

One of my favorite makeup brush brands has released a gorgeous Contour Palette.  Beauty Junkees, a brand I’ve talked about numerous times has recently rolled out some new goodies in their line.  Besides their makeup brushes and accessories, Beauty Junkees has recently released a Contour Palette that is refillable and perfect for any makeup lover.  The Contour & Highlighting Palette makes enhancing your beauty and minimizing facial features a breeze.  You get powder contour shades to add dimension and to define your cheekbones, jaw, forehead and nose as well as highlighting shades that will lift, brighten and give you a soft radiant glow.  This palette is perfect for every day use and I love that the palette is not only refillable, it’s magnetic.  With 5 silky soft pressed matte powders to compliment a beauty lovers complete look.

Contouring shades include:  Fawn, Java and Truffle  Highlighting shades include:  Banana, Vanilla and Sand.  This palette is great for most skin tones and you can either use a light hand or build up the powders to your desired intensity.  Did I also mention you could use this palette as eye shadow shades or even a brow definer.  The options are absolutely endless.

Retail cost:  $24.97 and can be purchased at: https://shop.beautyjunkees.com/products/contour-and-highlighting-kit

Beauty Junkees has also won me over with their fab 5 piece Pro Contouring & Highlighting Kit.  I have raved about Beauty Junkees brushes before and last year I even featured a set in a Holiday Gift Guide.  This year is no exception and I’m so excited to bring you this kit of brushes for the makeup lover.  This brush set includes the Pro Sculptor Brush, Pro Detailer Brush, Pro Duo Fiber Brush, Pro Highlighter Brush, Pro Contouring Makeup Brush and a great makeup brush case for storage or travel.  Each brush comes with high density synthetic taklon bristles and are vegan friendly.  With a solid wood handle, double crimped copper ferrule and bristles that do not shed – you or the makeup lover in your life will have brushes that work with creams, liquids, minerals and powders.

Considering the cost of one highlight or contouring brush from popular cosmetic brands, this set includes everything you or your loved one needs to literally have that highlight and contour ON FLEEK.  I am absolutely in love with this brush set and haven’t stopped using these brushes since I got my hands on them.  After several washes the bristles have held together nicely, the brushes pick up my liquid, cream and powder products with ease and that sponge… YAAASSSS – it’s amazing and so soft.

This 5 pc Pro Contouring & Highlighting Kit retails for $24.97 and can be purchased at: https://shop.beautyjunkees.com/products/5-piece-pro-contouring-highlighting-kit

Speaking of soft sponges, I’m absolutely loving the sponge set from Beauty Junkees as well.  It’s hard to find a good cosmetic sponge that is similar to the expensive name brand without sacrificing quality.  For less than the price of one highend brand makeup sponge, you get four awesome sponges to create your work of art.  This 4 piece Pro Beauty Sponge Set from Beauty Junkees includes the Pink Teardrop (the traditional blender shape used for all over face application), the Purple Pear (similar to the Pink Teardrop with an improved ergonomic shape that allows for an optimal grip), Green Oval (for the makeup perfectionist with dual tips for precise concealing and cleaning up of makeup errors), and the Blue Sculptor (a flat head sponge best used for pressing on foundation for heavier coverage, using a stippling effect to create an airbrushed look).  Each of the sponges work best when damp but can be used wet or dry.  They are latex free, non-allergenic and works with all kinds of makeup from creams to liquids to minerals and powders.  They are easy to wash and reusable – a simple mild soap or baby shampoo will get it clean and ready for it’s next use.

Over the years I have tried MANY different types of cosmetic sponges and as I mentioned above, while some are quite affordable, that doesn’t mean they are good quality.  The Beauty Junkees cosmetic and beauty sponges feel and work like professional grade sponges.  They are soft and work well to blend the product, but doesn’t soak the product up so that you are wasting your makeup.  The blend well and effortlessly, no matter the sponge you decide to use at any given time.  Like I said, the cost of this 4 pack is cheaper than that of a Beauty Blender – one Beauty Blender, so it’s worth checking out for yourself.

The 4 Piece Pro Beauty Sponge Set retails for $14.97 and can be purchased at: https://shop.beautyjunkees.com/products/flawless-beauty-makeup-blender-sponges-sample-pack

Beauty is not just about makeup so I wanted to be sure that I included products that also catered to the skin care lover.  I do have a Holiday Gift Guide on the site aimed specifically towards skin and body care (which you can find here), but these products are those that go hand and hand with makeup too.  The Trophy Skin RejuvadermMD is a Professional Grade Home Microdermabrasion System.  I’m talked about Trophy Skin products before as the RejuvaliteMD happens to be one of my FAVORITE skin care devices.  I was very ecstatic to try the RejuvadermMD and have been loving it since getting my hands on it.

Facial cleansing tools are an important part of my skin care and beauty routine, so I knew I just had to include my favorites in this post.  The Michael Todd Soniclear Elite has been a favorite device of mine over the last two years and I love that you can purchase a variety of attachments.  I love pairing my Soniclear with the Luxe Cashmere brush head for my sensitive skin and I totally dig that the Soniclear has a selection of designs and colors to choose from.  I have written about the Soniclear Elite on my site before so you can get a full review of this product here on the site.

Another facial cleansing tool that has been a favorite of mine is my Foreo Luna.  Since getting my original Luna, Foreo has made many improvements to their original device and has released the Luna 2, Luna Mini 2, Luna Go and IRIS.  The brush is revolutionary and designed to help with facial cleansing and anti-aging – giving you a complete and personalized cleansing.  I LOVE that the LUNA 2 is now available in four specialized brush types for tailor-made skin care and I look forward to picking up the Sensitive Skin (purple) cleansing tool when my current Luna is ready to be retired.  The next-generation Luna 2 facial cleansing brush utilizes up to 2x the T-Sonic power to gently exfoliate dead skin cells, unclog pores of makeup residue and remove up to 99.5% of dirt and oil.  This brush helps to improve the absorption of your favorite skin care products while offering you a great cleanse each and every time.

The Foreo Luna 2 retails for $199.00 and can be purchased at: https://www.foreo.com/

I have been a huge fan of Exuviance skin care products for a few years now and I’m always excited to share with my readers something new that I’ve been trying.  Today, I’m going to be talking about the Exuviance Purifying Cleansing Gel and how it works for me.  I’ve been using this gel now for about a month and I think I’ve formed a good enough opinion of the product to offer up my thoughts on it.  Like with all skin care products, my testing and trial period can be lengthy because I not only use this product on it’s own, but in combination with my current skin care favorites in my regimen.  After trial and error, I think I have formed an opinion that I can share with all of you.

Exuviance, skin care, skin cleanser, facial cleanser, skin, skin care regimen, facial cleanser, review, beauty,

The Exuviance Purifying Cleansing Gel retails for $34.00 and comes in a 7.2 oz tube.  I was immediately excited to use this product, because Exuviance’s site recommends using this cleansing gel with the Michael Todd Soniclear Elite for the perfect daily facial and skin care cleansing.  Naturally, since I own a few Soniclear Elite brushes, I was excited to give this product a whirl.  The Purifying Cleansing Gel is a soap free, foaming cleanser that gently washes away your makeup, surface oils, impurities and more without altering the skin’s natural moisture balance.  As something with naturally dry skin – I need a good cleanser that gets the job done, but that doesn’t overly dry out my skin causing my Eczema to flare up or my sensitivities to my skin.  This cleanser does just that – cleans my face and neck without leaving it harsh and dry.  Since the cleanser contains anti-aging properties of Alpha and Pholyhydroxy Acids (AHAs and PHAs) along with conditioners to help sooth and improve the skin texture, it is ideal for my dry and sensitive skin.  I especially love that it is perfect for all skin types, including sensitive skin like my own.  This product is non-drying and gentle and it’s dermatologist and allergy tested.  Not to mention, it’s Paba-Free.

Exuviance, skin care, skin cleanser, facial cleanser, skin, skin care regimen, facial cleanser, review, beauty,

Using this gel is easy.  The tube it comes in makes dispersing the product for use easy to do.  I can use this cleanser twice a day both in the morning and night or once a day in the evening if I find that I really only need a deep clean at night.  To apply – I moisten my hands and face and apply the product directly to my fingertips.  I massage the product onto my face and neck using an upward circular motion.  For a deep clean, I use my Soniclear Elite to work the product into my skin while removing dirt and impurities.  Once done, I rinse thoroughly with warm water and pat my skin dry.

The Exuviance Purifying Cleansing Gel includes key ingredients:  Gluconolactone and Glycolic Acid.

Ingredients:

Aqua (Water), Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, TEA-Lauryl Sulfate, Propylene Glycol, Glycolic Acid, Gluconolactone, Polyquaternium-10, Benzophenone-4, Caprylyl Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Chlorphenesin, Parfum (Fragrance), CI 42090 (Blue 1), CI 19140 (Yellow 5).

I love a great clean and love to feel that my face is clean without the dry and harsh feeling that some cleansers can offer.  The Exuviance Purifying Cleansing Gel foams up nicely when applied and cleaning which I love, but it doesn’t strip my skin of it’s natural moisture.  It doesn’t leave my skin feeling like a desert and it’s perfect for me to use during the colder months since it still leaves moisture left on my skin.  Used in combination with my other skin care products, I find that this cleansing gel works well and does a great job in what it promises to do.  Furthermore, I absolutely love that this is a soap free formula, it cleans without the harsh feeling and residue that soap can leave behind.  Considering the price point – I highly suggest checking this out.  You get a lot of product for a reasonable cost for sure.

You can purchase this product and more at: https://www.neostrata.com/product/exuviance+purifying+cleansing+gel.do

Have you tried anything from Exuviance before?  This is one of a few products I’ve tried and enjoy from the brand and I definitely recommend it.

When it comes to makeup – I have an overall love relationship with most of the things I’ve tried.  I pride myself in the fact that I have favorites from both the drugstore and high end, luxury items.  There’s no doubt, I’m a makeup lover with an extreme cosmetic addition… hehe!  Don’t judge me, lol!  I have been using Pixi Beauty products for a few years now, but today I’m sharing with you a few of my current Pixi Beauty favorites.  Recently I received a little green box of treats and I have been loving them all so much that I just had to share it with you.  Let’s chit chat about each one shall we?

All of the products I got in my little sweet green box were “new to me” treats so I was very excited to dive in and check it out.  The Nourishing Cleansing Balm is something that I’ve had my eyes on since seeing it on the website a few weeks ago.  This deep cleansing balm-to-oil cleanser immediately caught my attention because I cleanse and moisturize with oil daily, so it was something I really wanted to give a try.  The balm melts aware makeup and impurities to leave you with clear, glowing skin.

Retailing for $22.00 (90 mL/3.04 fl.oz.), this nourishing balm has sweet almond oil and cocoa butter and leaves my skin feeling so soft and moisturized after each use.  I love that it includes skin loving ingredients and is not harmful to my sensitive skin.  If I had to choose one of my absolute FAVORITE products from Pixi that I’ve tried, this balm right here, would be at the top of my list.  I LOVE IT!  It’s very rich in texture, but smooths onto the skin so nicely and cleanses so quickly.  It nourishes my skin with sweet almond oil, shea butter and vitamin E to leave my skin feeling plum and nourished.

Ingredients: Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Cetearyl Isononanoate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Glyceryl Behenate, Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate, Glyceryl Stearate, Glyceryl Cocoate, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Lecithin, Tocopherol, Cetyl Alcohol, Benzyl Alcohol, Fragrance.

To follow the Nourishing Cleansing Balm, I use the Pixi Glow Tonic (100mL / $15.00).  Now – they call this a cult favorite and I’ve been hearing my blogger friends swoon and rave about this product for a while, so I just couldn’t wait to try it out.  This toner is an exfoliating toner that helps give you brighter, more radiant skin.  I have a secret to share… I can’t use Toner often and hardly use it because it causes my skin to get irritated.  I was afraid to try this, even if I had only heard great things about it.  This miracle in a bottle toner helps to bright the complexion while resulting in a healthy glow.  It’s formulated with 5% glycolic acid and helps to exfoliate, brighten and smooth your skin.  With Aloe Vera, ginseng and botanical extracts working together, you are nourishing and treating your skin while revealing an improved complexion.  I also LOVE that this is alcohol-free.  I use this after cleansing and apply with one of my favorite reusable rounds from Facekins.  I don’t notice any burning or irritation while using this product and my skin looks brighter after using it for a few weeks.  While I’m not the toning kind of gal, I think this will be one I’ll continue to use.

Ingredients: Aqua, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Leaf Extract, Aesculus Hippocastanum (Horse Chestnut) Seed Extract, Glycolic Acid, Ammonium Glycolate, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Hexylene Glycol (and) Fructose (and) Glucose (and) Sucrose (and) Urea (and) Dextrin (and) Alanine (and) Glutamic Acid (and) Aspartic Acid (and) Hexyl Nicotinate, Panax Ginseng Root Extract, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium Benzoate, Biotin, Polysorbate 20.

The Pixi Beauty Rose Oil Blend ($24 – 30 mL/1.01 fl.oz.) is also a product I have not tried before.  It includes a botanical blend infused with powerful complex of youth-preserving oils to help improve skin’s elasticity and glow.  Formulated with sweet almond, rose hip, jojoba, pomegranate seed, and rose geranium oils to help nourish the complexion, leaving my skin feeling smooth and hydrated… but most importantly – soft to the touch.  If you’ve been following me a while, then you know I’m an oil moisturizer gal – I use coconut oil to moisturize each night with my regular skin care routine, so I’m always excited to try out new oils.  I love this one.  I love the packaging – but the oil applies and soaks into my skin so quickly and easily.  I love mixing this with my standard skin care regimen for moisture that lasts all day and night and my skin feels so incredibly soft.  The oil soaks into my skin quickly, it doesn’t sit on the surface like others can do.  It doesn’t leave my skin feeling oily at all – but moisturized and half a dropper full is more than enough to cover my entire face, neck and decollete area.  If I want to have that dewy/glowing skin look, I will blend the Rose Oil Blend with my regular moisturizer and apply to my face.  It leaves my skin looking and feeling like I just stepped out from under a waterfall – fresh and glowing.

Ingredients: Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Rosa Canina Fruit Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Tocopherol, Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil, Rosa Damascena Flower Oil, Punica Granatum Seed Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil.

Ah, of course – I can’t leave out a gorgeous highlight, because we all know that Honey loves to glow.  The Beauty Blush Duo & Kabuki in Peach Honey ($18 – 10.21 g/0.35 oz.) is GORGEOUS.  I love a great highlight but I have a skin tone that is not quite dark but not light at all – an in between.  So because of this, a daily highlighter and blush with shimmer is hard to find… well, until now.  This gorgeous blush and highlighter duo is perfect for that lit-from-within look for fuss free beauty in just a few seconds.  Simple swirl the kabuki brush (which is included – woohoo), into the compact and pick up the color to apply to your cheeks for a great and gorgeous glow.  Both powders are super silky and provide your cheeks with a flawless and fresh finish.  I LOVE these for everyday use because it provides me with the glow I want in an everyday product, without looking like I just came out of the disco era… but still enough color to be show stopping.

The natural mineral formula of these powders is infused with vitamin E and mica, so it treats your skin as you wear it.  You get hydration and long wear with light diffusing capabilities.  The Kabuki brush that is included is also a steal.  It’s soft and applies the product nicely to the skin.  Definitely a great duo to have for every day use or those days you are feeling you want a little more glam.  I love golden hued highlighters so this takes the cake for me and the peachy toned blush is perfect for my everyday look.  The blush is a tad bit too light for my skin tone, but that excites me more because it makes for a great everyday flush of color without looking like I just plopped rose colored paint on my face.  I love both shades – both pigmented and gorgeous.

It seems as if I have covered everything except for lips.  I want to introduce you to the Pixi Beauty Liplift Max ($14 – 2.7 g / 0.09oz).  A volume-maximizing lip treatment with peptides to hydrate and plump the lips… YAAAASSSSS… sign me up!  This volume-maximizing lip treatment has a cooling sensation with a glossy finish.  It is formulated with peptides to hydrate, firm and plump the lips.  You also get an added benefit of aloe to  heal, jojoba to moisturize and chamomile to soothe.  With a fresh mint flavor, you simply can’t go wrong.  I have the Liplift Max in Honey Sheen – a gorgeous nude shade.  All of the three shades (including Honey Sheen) are sheer, but they make perfect toppers to your favorite lipsticks or liners and wear nicely.  I’m not a huge gloss fan but I do tend to wear glosses in the winter months and this one is perfect for such.  It helps to hydrate my lips while leaving them looking plump and full.  I am a huge fan of Buxom lip glosses so I had used those to compare to this one.  It seems like this one offers the plumping without the sting and I like the minty flavor.

I think the LipLift Max is perfect for topping off your matte lippies and while it is a bit sticky, it’s not that bad and still wearable in my book.  I’ve been getting lots of use out of this product for a daily lip gloss and I find that it works as I would expect.  It’s a little thick, but still workable and leaves a gorgeous sheen on the lips.  If you are a fan of glosses, you may like this one.

I love when I have the chance to try out new products from a brand I already love.  It’s especially fun when these new products work well with my sensitive skin.  I’ve always been a fan of Pixi Beauty and have talked about many of their products in the past.  I’m loving trying out some things that are new to me.  I’m sure there will be more products in the future that I’ll try and love because Pixi is one of those brands that offer good quality.  Pixi products are a little more costly than your average drugstore finds, but I am so excited to have Target near me now that I can browse through and pick up my favorites.  If you haven’t tried Pixi before, I highly suggest checking them out.  If I had to choose just one item from all of these I featured, I highly suggest the Nourishing Cleansing Balm – seriously, it’s a favorite for sure.
