I was very excited to have the opportunity to try a product from Ola Tropical Apothecary.  Being a Hawaii Native, I enjoy trying products from companies that are locally based here in the islands.  I was sent the  Plumeria Sugar Polish.  If you know anything about me, it’s that Plumeria is one of my favorite scents, so I was eager to give it a try and share my thoughts with all of you.

The Sugar Body Polish is gentle, even on my sensitive skin and offers natural exfoliating properties while combining pure Hawaiian Cane Sugar with Organic Hawaiian Honey to renew and condition the skin.  To these awesome combination of ingredients, Ola also adds an infusion of healing Hawaiian plant extracts with natural cleansers and tropical oils and butters to help cleans, soften and moisturize the skin.  If I had to describe this product in one word, it would be “Luxurious”.

Using the Ola Tropical Apothecary Plumeria Sugar Polish is simple.  Simply apply and/or use the product in the shower or bath to cleanse and renew your skin.  Apply to damp skin and massage well, exfoliating and moisturizing your skin.  Rinse off with warm water.  You can use this sugar polish several times a week to help make your skin radiant and hydrated.  My favorite places to use the sugar polish is on my heels and feet as well as my hands, elbows, and knees.  This is especially a treat for me when I’m about to change out my nail polish or do a self-mani/pedi.  It’s the perfect way to leave my skin looking great.

The ingredients in this particular product happen to be some of my favorites for skincare:  honey, aloe vera, noni fruit, taro root, coconut oil, cocoa seed butter and kukui nut oil – just to name a few.

About two months ago I was introduced to Emme Diane by a fellow beauty blogger named Jen (MyBeautyBunny).  She raved about how great the Emme Diane Tinted Mineral SPF 40 was and I knew that I just had to get my hands on the product and try it out for myself.  Living in such a warm climate like Hawaii, I was immediately smitten over the Emme Diane Tinted Mineral SPF 40, so much so – that I had to share it with all of you.

emme diane, tinted mineral spf, skin care, skincare, spf 40, tinted mineral spf 40, beauty, makeup, mattifying spf, sheer tint spf, tinted moisturizer, physical sunscreen, water resistant sunscreen, good for the ocean, non-comedogenic, silky finish, susncreen, sweat resistant,

The Emme Diane Tinted Mineral SPF 40 retails for $46.00.  First, I wanted to touch base on the packaging of the product itself.  I’m all about that easy to dispense life and the product is easily dispensed through a pump that makes application a breeze.  I just wanted to put that out there, because the “no fuss, no muss” life is for me.

Okay, now that I have gotten that out of the way – let’s talk product.  The Emme Diane website states that this tinted mineral sunscreen has a cult following and boy, let me just say – I can see why.  Living in Hawaii, I want to make sure to help protect our precious coral but I need the protection from the sun that we experience more than 90% of the year.  Emme Diane offers this Physical sunscreen with Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide to not only protect our skin but also our ocean wildlife.  The sunscreen applies so effortlessly and I love that it glides onto my skin without any issues.

The product is soft and silky and applies easily with my fingertips or using a brush.  I tend to put it on after applying my moisturizer each day and while it is tinted, it offers a soft tint to help even out skin tone which is perfect for me.  Emme Diane suggests applying it every 80 minutes after swimming or sweating, but I love using it on its own when out running errands or during a normal day for that sun protection that my skin needs.  It is also suggested to apply at least every 2 hours.

Using Emme Diane Tinted SPF 40

The Emme Diane Tinted Mineral SPF 40 offers you a sheer, mattifying look to the skin while leaving your skin feeling silky smooth (so it’s perfect for applying before makeup).  I love that because it is non-comedogenic I haven’t had any breakouts and I have had minimal white cast when using this product.  It blends into my skin tone perfectly.  I have been dealing with many sensitive skin issues the last few months due to some health complications, so I really wanted to try something that would be gentle on my skin and this has been it.  I’m not lying when I say that I LOVE this sunscreen.

I want to try out the Illuminating Tinted SPF next because with summer on its way, I’m all about that glow.

If there is one thing I absolutely love when it comes to brands and products, it’s when a brand I have used for years bring something new to the table.  BioSilk is a brand I’ve used for over 20 years, first being introduced to them in 1996.  The original Silk Therapy was recommended to me when I was in high school and needed to tame and moisturize my crazy curly hair.  Now, years later, I was given the opportunity to try out the BioSilk Silk Therapy with Organic Coconut Oil.   And, today – I am sharing all of my thoughts on these products with all of you.

hair, hair and skin, hair treatment, biosilk, biosilk silk therapy with organic coconut oil, biosilk, silk therapy, hair treatment, frizzy hair, hair products, product reviews, product review, beauty, hair and beauty,

BioSilk Silk Therapy with Organic Coconut Oil:  Just like the BioSilk Silk Therapy, the Silk Therapy with Organic Coconut Oil is a Leave-In treatment that can be used for both hair and skin.  BioSilk says that this light-weight leave-in treatment offers superior moisture replenishment while fortifying weak strands.  It helps to control frizz and flyaways while preventing split ends for smooth results with incredible  shine.  For the skin, it can be used as a light moisturizing oil to relieve dry skin leaving it soft and smooth with a subtle glow.

After using this product for several weeks, I have absolutely been loving it as much as I love the original.  If you have ever tried the BioSilk Silk Therapy products, you will know exactly how they feel.  They have slip like regular oils but they leave your hair feeling moisturized without the heavy oily feel.  The Silk Therapy with organic coconut oil soaks into the skin and leaves it soft and definitely moisturized.  My hair just drinks it up and I love it.

Retail:  $26.80 (5.64 oz)

Silk Therapy with Organic Coconut Oil 3-in-1:  I am not one to gravitate to a 3-in-1 (shampoo, conditioner and bodywash), but I think they are definitely something perfect for travel or for those that don’t want all the product clutter.  This versatile and gentle cleanser not only removes the impurities from the body and hair, but it adds essential moisture to the hair and skin.  This 3-in-1 conditions while providing balanced care for the hair and skin and I love that it also helps to maintain and preserve your hair color.  Hair and skin is left soft, smooth and nourished.

A 3-in-1 is definitely a time saver and so far I’ve been enjoying this product.  It leaves my hair feeling soft and my body too.

Retail:  $10.40 (5.64 oz)

As I mentioned before, I love when a brand re-invents or does something different to their products and it works.  Adding organic coconut oil definitely added great benefits to their original products and I’ve been absolutely loving them.  Honestly, these products can be a bit costly, but I think they offer such a great range of solutions for all hair types and it’s worth checking it out soon.

Have you had the chance to try out this new Organic Coconut Oil line from BioSilk?  If not, have you tried the original Silk Therapy line and if you have, what do you think?

Today I’m excited to finally bring you my thoughts on a few skin care products from ZenMed.  I have had these products in my possession now for about 2 months (or more) and I am happy to say that I can finally discuss my results with all of you.

ZenMed, Skincare, skin care, beauty, skin care review, anti-aging, skin support, reconstructive skincare, review, product review, trial, luxury skincare,

As many of you know, I have started to really live my life differently.  Daily workouts and exercise and cutting out things like rice and soda from my diet (eating healthier in general) have been a part of my norm the last two months.  Because of this, trying out new skin care has been a huge challenge.  As your body starts to really purge the junk stuff from your system, sometimes your skin can get really good quickly or completely freak out.  For me, it freaked out and really went bonkers with some of my skin care products.  So, it took longer to try out products that I would normally be able to experience results with within a month or so.  That’s why it took me so long to get this post up – I wanted to make sure it was not the product that caused my eczema flare up.

With that being said – let’s talk about ZenMed.  ZenMed offers a plethora of products that they call:  Reconstructive Skincare.  It’s basically a product line that offers support to your skin.  They claim that you can get healthier skin when following their pH balanced cleansing and moisturizing regime.  I had the opportunity to try four different products from the line and I’m going to share my thoughts on each of them with you.

The Gentle Cleansing Cream is a light cleansing cream that feels really nice on the skin when applying.  You apply this product to your wet face using circular motions.  Once done, rinse it off with warm water and pat your skin dry.  This cleanser is gentle enough to be used on your skin twice a day – though I only use it once a day at night.  This cleanser removes impurities from your skin and leaves your face feeling refreshed.  No irritations or over-drying which is great for my sensitive skin.  This product is vegetarian formulated so that it leaves your skin clean without stripping it of your vital oils.  The formulation is pH balanced and preserves your natural pH so your skin is left feeling soothed and nourished.  ZenMed states that this is a product that is ideal for Rosacea sufferers.  I love how soft my skin feels but it is left hydrated and clean when I’m done cleansing with this product.

ZenMed’s Anti-Redness Mask is next on the list.  This is a pretty cool product because ZenMed says that this is ideal for minimizing the after-effects of a sunburn since it contains Certified Organic Aloe Vera Gel.  The Anti-Redness mask has a very effective anti-inflammatory agent included called Willow Bark Extract.  The ingredient has long been know to provide anti-irritant and anti-redness effects to sensitive skin.  It’s soothing and non-comedogenic using Green Tea and Cucumber to offer a quick solution for getting redness out of the skin and fast.  This product can even be used on sensitive areas like eyelids to help calm the skin.

I have been enjoying all of the products I’ve tried, but the Anti-Redness Mask still intrigues me.  When you use it, your skin feels immediately cooled and calm.  I find that this is one of my favorites for soothing my dry skin from the colder months.  I noticed that the redness around my nose and on my cheeks are not there as much as they normally would be.

Oil-Free Moisturizer with SPF 30 – Well, I honestly wasn’t sure if I would like this product once I squeezed it out of the tube.  Here’s the deal, when something says “lightweight and sheer formula”, I kind of expect it to be as such.  But squeezing it out of the tube, it seemed to be a bit thick.  But, I was relieved when it smoothed onto my skin quickly and felt like it was lightweight on.  Looks can be deceiving (that’s for sure).  This product is lightweight and sheer on the face.  It’s oil-free with an SPF of 30 which is awesome, but it does leave your skin looking a bit dewy.  But, that didn’t bother me one bit, since I really liked that it was gentle on my skin and super easy to apply.  This cream absorbs quickly which I love so it’s also recommended for use under concealers or foundations (which I don’t really use).  I love that I can use it on its own.  I LOVE that it has sunscreen in it so it’s great for days like today when I need to run out of the house.

Like other products I’ve tried from ZenMed, this moisturizer has Green Tea and Certified Organic Aloe Vera which helps to calm the skin and moisturize.

Retail: $24.95

For those interested in the type of sunscreen formulated into this product – here are the Active Ingredients: Avobenzone 1.5%, Octinoxate 7.5%, Octisalate 5%, Oxybenzone 5.5%., Purified Water, Vegetable Glycerin, Octyl Palmitate, Green Tea Extract, Certified Organic Aloe Vera Juice, Glyceryl Stearate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Stearic Acid, Methyl Gluceth-20, C15-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Cetyl Phosphate, Vitamins A, B5, D, & E, Phenoxyethanol, Propylene Glycol, Allantoin, TEA-Carbomer, Ethyl Hexyl Glycerin

The Organic Cream Exfoliator is free of parabens, abrasive particles, soap, oil and animal testing.  This product was formulated and created to help oxygenate and revive the most sensitive skin types.  This exfoliator utilizes rounded jojoba microspheres that work to help scrub and get rid of the surface of dead skin cell build-up while allowing for maximum penetration of your skin serums and moisturizers.  It helps to visibly smooth and refine your skin’s texture.

I am very picky about the type of exfoliators I use and I was amazed at how much I enjoyed this one.  The product is very creamy based but as you work it onto the skin, the jojoba microspheres massage and exfoliate the skin.  This product can be used daily, though I only use it on my face once a week because while it’s gentle, I think it’s too much for me to use more than that.  After the first use, I noticed my skin was definitely softer and smoother and I noticed a big difference in the texture of my skin after using it the last month.

Retail:   $34

ZenMed, Skincare, skin care, beauty, skin care review, anti-aging, skin support, reconstructive skincare, review, product review, trial, luxury skincare,

Overall, I continue to use the  ZenMed products I was sent to try as a part of my skincare regimen.  I use it in combination with other products from other brands that I love and enjoy.  The Skin Support products for Dry Skin have been a great addition to my skincare routine and while they aren’t particularly drugstore priced, they are reasonable in cost and fairly affordable in comparison to other products I’ve tried before.

I’m not quite sure yet if I will be continuing the use of these products once I run out of my current stash, but I definitely have some favorites.  The Anti-Redness Mask and Oil-Free Moisturizer with SPF 30 have been some of my go-tos lately, so I may continue using them.  I also hope to purchase the Support Serum and Nutrient Boost Spray to try out for myself, so if I do – I’ll be sure to share my thoughts with all of you.

Have you heard of ZenMed before?  If so, comment below and tell me what you think.  If not, are there any products I’ve tried that you may be interested in?

Happy Aloha Friday!
