Coastal Scents STEP ONE Eye Primer

Eye Primers are an essential product and are important in keeping your eye shadows looking vibrant, long lasting and have them stay in place all day.  I have used most eye primers on the market from high end ones to drugstore priced ones and while I do love them all for different reasons, I’m pretty impressed with the price point and the quality of the Coastal Scents Step One Eye Primer.

Coastal Scents Step One Eye Primer (10mL / 0.33 fl oz) retails on Coastal Scents’ website for $14.95 (currently on sale for $9.95) and comes in a very bright tube (Orange and Yellow) making it easy to find in your makeup stash.  This primer has a squeeze tube which makes it easy to use and I love that when you squeeze out the product, it is not oily or watery – allowing you to get out the perfect amount for each use.

There is a lot of product in one tube and even with daily use it will last you a long time.  The product is cream like, but on the dryer side – kind of reminding me of the consistency of Urban Decay’s Primer Potion.  The formulation applies like a cream but once blended onto the skin, it is nearly impossible to see on the skin – even with my skin tone.  Since it is neutral in shade, it will allow for vibrancy of any shadow and longevity.  This product has amazed me as my shadows are crease free and fade free for hours and I love that it is easy to use.  Since I have sensitive skin, I have to be careful with what eye primers I use and some of the dryer formulas make my eye lids too dry and my eczema flare up, so I like that after consistent use, this product didn’t do that to me.  If you are used to a more wet formula, this may not work for you overall, but I say at the price point, you should definitely give it a go.

Polyethylene, Triethlhexanoin, Isopropyl Lanolate, Sorbitan, Sesquioleate, VP/ Eicosene Copolymer, Dimethicone, PEG-40 Stearate, Propylene Carbonate, Phenoxyethanol, Cera Alba ( Bees Wax), Propylparaben, Ethlparaben, Isobutylparaben. May contain: Mica, CI 77891 ( titanium dioxide), CI 77491/CI77499 ( Iron Oxides), CI 77163 (Bismuth Oxychloride)

I have a tip for the lovelies that apply eye liner and don’t use shadows as often.  Don’t think that an eye shadow primer is just for your eye shadows.  If you are looking for longevity of your liner whether gel, liquid or pencil, you can use the eye shadow primer to extend the length of use by applying over your lid and lower lash line.  The eye liner will last longer as does your eye shadow offering you vibrancy for your stunning looks.  Since the primer is virtually color-less when blended out, you can use it under any eye liner color or shadow color.

Cupcakes & Hearts – Valentine’s Day Makeup Look Featuring Milani and Jordana Cosmetics

It’s no secret that I’m a romantic at heart and I’m pretty lucky to have found a fairy tale love “Happily Ever After”,  which is something people search for their entire lives and never find.  So while I believe that love should be celebrated every single day of our lives, I am a fan of a day that celebrates hearts, chocolates, flowers and pretty things.

It’s time for another Valentine’s Day makeup look and this time I am using a combination of Milani and Jordana Cosmetics for a budget friendly, drug store look you can create quickly and easily.  Since my last Valentine’s Day makeup look (click here to view) included browns and bronze shades, I wanted to bring out the playful side of Valentine’s Day offering up a soft purple and rose gold look that would be perfect for a lunch date or stroll at the park.  In collaboration with my friend Beth, we are once again doing date night looks, her look will include drugstore products for an evening look and mine for a daytime look.  Check out the video below for a talk through (Get Ready With Me) style video or click here to watch directly on YouTube.  Details of my Cupcakes & Hearts Valentine’s Day Makeup can be found below.

Valentine's Day makeup look featuring Milani and Jordana

I enjoyed creating this look and wanted it to have a pop of color but also be soft and wearable.  If you have brown eyes like I do – the purple on the lower lash line will certainly bring out the brightness in your eyes almost instantly.  The color choices I picked reminded me of cupcakes and conversation hearts and I think this would make a great look for anyone with any skin tone shade.

Mineral Water For The Face? Evian Natural Mineral Water Facial Spray

Hydration comes in many forms, whether it be to drink the recommended amount of water each day or just cooling off, our bodies crave moisture and hydration, especially during cold winter months.  Not only does your body (inside and out) need hydration and moisture, but so does your face.  In the past I have utilized many different types of facial sprays from all natural rose water to mineral mists but I have been enjoying Evian Natural Mineral Water Facial Spray and here’s why.

First let’s talk about the origins of Evian.  Evian Natural Mineral Water dates back thousands of years and has proven to be a geological phenomenon.  Some of you may have heard of the name as Evian is a bottled water company sold through stores Worldwide, including the US and has been a popular brand in our household for years.  The water is free from any chemical treatment and as pure as pure can be offering you water where each droplet follows a 15-year journey to acquire a unique mineral balance.  All science stuff aside, the name is familiar because many people have tried their water before.  Now Evian offers a Facial Spray that cares for your skin on a daily basis and includes all the purity of the Evian mineral water.  Dermatologist tested, Evian has a unique balance of minerals and a neutral pH so it is the ideal partner for all skin types, even the most sensitive.

Evian Facial Spray comes in three sizes, 1.7oz (50ml) which is portable and ideal for travel or your purse (also TSA approved), 5 oz (150ml) which they say is perfect for the office and great when you are dealing with the dryness caused by air conditioning or heat.  And, 10 oz (300ml) which is the ideal size for use at home.  It’s economical and long lasting for use on you and your family.

So what are my thoughts on this product?  First of all… I think that it’s convenient enough for anyone, especially my family and I.  I have been tossing this thing in my purse on a daily basis.  While we are experiencing a cold front here in Hawaii, the days are still warm and this spray has been a great refresher while out running errands, working out or on our daily walks or to just cool down.  This product is so pure that you can even use it to gently clean and freshen your baby and it is used in maternity hospitals.  I use this spray without any bother on my sons and it helps to cool them down and even relax them a bit.  I also love to spray this product on prior to makeup for added moisture and after I applied my face makeup like blush and bronzer to give my makeup a natural look.  If you wear foundation, this would be a great product to help set your foundation for a more even and natural tone.

The spray nozzle is easy to use and I haven’t had any problems with it clogging on me.  Evian Facial Spray is propelled by safe nitrogen (the air we breathe is 80% nitrogen) into an exquisitely fine mist.  Each one second spray releases several million micro-droplets to hydrate and instantly refresh skin.

Using a spray mist is definitely a great addition to your makeup or beauty routine, and I have been especially loving this one from Evian.  Use this spray to mix with and blend your makeup (a trade secret of stars) for great and even coverage and blend or to hydrate during the day.  It’s safe for the whole family and we love it.

The Billion Dollar Brows Universal Brow Pencil is such a unique product in that it takes the guess work out of trying to find the perfect shade to fill in your brows.  No more are the days of trying to match your hair color with your brow shade.  This Universal brow pencils is perfect for Blonds and Brunettes and offers a mechanical, self-sharpening pencil which goes on smooth and natural for all hair colors and skin tones.  Attached to the end of this pencil is a brow spoolie to help groom those strays into place.  Overall I like this product.  It’s water resistant, lasts all day on my brows and it has a light wax like texture that keeps my brows in place without the need to use a gel to set them.  If I had to make one suggestion, I wish the tip on this was a little more sharp, rather than rounded since I often like to have a precise edge… but that is personal preference and any error or mistakes can easily be cleaned up with the duo pencil or concealer if you would like.

Billion Dollar Brows Best Sellers KitThe Billion Dollar Brows Brow Gel is clear and and helps to lock your brows into place.  This gel is lightweight and applies easily.  What I love the most about it is when used in combination with the Brow pencil, your brows are bullet proof and stay in place till you are ready to take them off.  I had my brows in place for 10 hours one day and when I went to remove my makeup at the end of the day – they were still there, bold and strong.  Also – it is guaranteed to never flake.

The Brow Duo Highlighter includes two products in one and is the secret weapon to adding definition and warmth to your brows.  This pencil will allow you to highlight your brow bone and for those who need it, it can also be used as a handy universal concealer.  Both shades offer a matte / cream finish and blend effortlessly.  I especially like that it gives my brow a nice lift at the arch when applied under my brow.  Use in combination with the Smudge Brush for perfect, show stopping brows.  A quick note… while I love the creaminess of this pencil, I find that it is a little more stiff than others I have tried.  That doesn’t affect the product – but is personal preference.  Because of this I find that on my darker skin if I put too much product, I may be blending it out for quite a while.  So a little goes a long way and I slowly build to the consistency and vibrancy I would like.  Also, this product can settle into fine lines and winkles, so I definitely suggest using the product moderately and building up to product so avoid creasing.

The Billion Dollar Brows Smudge brush is a well made, flat, synthetic brush that you can use to apply or blend out your highlighter duo.  I like to apply the highlighter duo with the pencil and then take the smudge brush to blend it all out. This brush is soft, but still dense enough to get the job done.  It’s well made and packed nicely into the ferrule giving you lots of control over what you are blending and applying.

Last but not lease is the Pencil Sharpener.  This sharpener is the perfect size to sharpen your Duo Highlighter, renewing the product of the pencil.  It’s easy to use and sharpens nicely and precisely.

When it comes to brows, I really like the time I spend on them to be quick and effortless.  The Billion Dollar Brows Best Sellers Kit offers all the products you need to create quick, statement brows with little to no effort.  It’s fast, easy to use and your brows will pretty much stay in place till you take them off.  I really appreciate how well these work and I know it will be a part of my makeup arsenal for years to come.
