Ipsy has definitely been an awesome subscription this past year.  I have been subscribed to Ipsy now for a year and while there are some months where I am a little unhappy with some of the products, each bag definitely has been well worth the cost.  For just $10.00 a month – you get to try out products from a wide variety – both high end as well as drug store products.  You get 4-5 products, some of which are full sized and some deluxe samples and you get a cute makeup bag to accompany the products.  Is it worth it?  Why don’t see what I think about it in the Video embedded below as well as my price break down.  021 copy

Product Price Break down:

I received at least 3 Full Sized products in my Glam Bag this month – I’m still uncertain if the Be A Bombshell lip crayon is full sized.  Total in full sized products equals $42.00 in retail value.  Everything else is just a bonus honestly.  Ipsy is definitely worth the monthly cost.  Check out my reveal video as well as first impressions and swatches for some of the items below.

{I do receive points which I can use towards product freebies on their site if you click on my link and subscribe to Ipsy.  I do not receive any monetary payment for you signing up.  I pay for my Ipsy glam bags each month out of my own pocket – this is not a sponsored review or post.}

About the same time last year, I was a part of Starlooks.  I stopped about May or June of this year because I just had too much going on, but I have always loved their products. I was able to get another opportunity to try out the Starlooks boxes once again so you will be seeing a few more reviews on these awesome little boxes.  Check out my review (embedded below) or via YouTube here.

I absolutely love Fall… though you don’t really get the full experience here in Hawaii.  This time of year you will notice that a lot of my eye makeup looks are similar… smoky eyes with a red or neutral lips or eye makeup that looks similar in shades to what I’m sporting in my look from today.  To me, Fall reminds me of beautiful falling leaves of various rich and warm tones… purples, oranges, browns and golds.  When I think about Fall, I always seem to remember the scene from American Beauty (hmm… some of you may not know of that movie. lol), where they are walking down the street lined with leaves and another scene where the plastic bag blows and swirls from the wind.  I just love Fall. lol

I decided to create this makeup look, not only to show off my new flower crown I made, but because I was sitting at home, missing my husband.  His schedule changed back to what it used to be and after two months of having him home to have dinner with us, he is back to working the 3pm – 11pm shift.  I just missed him A LOT.  So I decided since my heart felt a little empty – that I would create a look that was inspired by my love for my husband and my thoughts of Fall.  I am really hoping that one day I can experience what falling leaves and the real fall season is really like.

Hi Loves… This is my Sugar Skull Makeup Tutorial.  It is my second time creating a look like this, the first was last year and while last years came out okay, I wasn’t completely happy with it.  This year I chose to pick colors that I love like Purple (of course) and Teal.  I thought it would be awesome together.  The look itself is easy to create, but it did take me a while to complete because I stopped and did all kinds of things while doing the look.  If you want to see how I created this please check out the embedded video below or click here to watch it directly on YouTube.

While out shopping a few months ago at my local CVS Store (we call it Longs Drugs here) I came across these Lip Balms in the NYX Display.  Our local CVS store has an awesome NYX display and you can normally find every NYX product there.  So, I was very excited to try these out seeing as I have not seen them anywhere else prior to this.

PRODUCT NOTE:
I have searched NYX’s Website as well as a few other sites and have not seen these anywhere except for Cherryculture.com ($3.00).  I do not know if NYX has discontinued these but they are still available at some CVS locations and they were recently stocked in my area.

I paid about $3.99 for each one – which in my opinion is a little more costly than I would like to spend for such a little amount of product and packaging that is pretty basic, but I was willing to do so to try out a product from one of my favorite drug store brands.

I only purchased two shades:  Spasibo (neutral color) and Xie Xie (pinkish red tone).  Both of them to me are pretty universal shades so it is easy for me to use all the time and not be so selective.

Xie Xie is a Strawberry type color but soft on the strawberry, as if you mixed a creme into it.  I like it because even if it can be a bright color – it is still very wearable for all day every day use.

Spacibo is very nude on me, as you can see from the swatch above, but it shows up on my lips nicely and looks like a nice nude lipstick.

These Lip Balms, while moisturizing only have a color/tint and moisturizing capabilities.  They are not known or possess gloss type capabilities and if you are looking for a glossy look, you may have to apply actual clear gloss over them.  While they did moisturize my lips, it was not something long term and application to remoisturize was definitely required.  I also noticed that a day or so later… my lips felt dry even if exfoliated and moisturized with my normal routine.

These lip balms do move more than what I am used to.  When you eat or drink or if you like to lick or lips, etc. – you can expect it to smear.  I think these may have a tad bit too much mineral oil in them and if you are one like me that are not huge on that – this may not appeal to you.

All in all – I liked these products… they were pretty okay but I still think they could use some work considering they are NYX products and haven’t held up to the brand standard.  I do think they are just too expensive in my local stores and while I do get that they need to keep with the cost of living… it is not worth it.  I will not be purchasing anymore unless they are on discount.

Sparkle rating… 3.7 – 4.0  – probably more towards 3.7

Hope you guys enjoyed this review.
