With the summer months in full swing, my dry skin can take a huge beating and require extra moisture.  No matter the season, it seems like my skin needs the extra benefits of hydration and I love turning to products that can do so for me without compromising my skin care or my makeup that I may have spent some time to put together.  When I need a little extra boost of moisture, I turn to a facial spray.  I have used all kinds and different brands and I’m always impressed with each in their own right, but lately I’ve been really loving the Farmacy Skin Dew Hydrating Essence Mist and Setting Spray.

The Farmacy Skin Dew Hydrating Essence Mist & Setting Spray ($44.00 USD – 3.3 fl.oz / 97 mL) immediate caught my eye after having tried several different products from Farmacy in the past – and loving each one.  The Skin Dew is formulated with Farmacy’s proprietary GreenEnvy Echinacea which you can immediately tell once you spritz or spray the product.  This spray is made to hydrate the skin by toning and restoring the radiance of your skin as well as refreshing your makeup.

When it comes to hydrating mists or setting sprays, sometimes I notice that my skin looks overly dewy or greasy but I love the way my skin feels when I spray this essence on.  My skin immediately feels moisturized and hydrated while eliminating the “powdery” look and feel that some of my makeup can leave my face feeling.  This spray literally helps to moisturize and sooth my skin on contact and I love it.

Since I don’t use foundation or concealer daily – this works as a great refresher (especially in the morning) to really wake up and invigorate my skin without adding harsh chemicals or products that can really draw out my natural moisture.  However, I found that with using this product prior to applying any BB Cream or tinted moisturizer can really help the product apply evenly and give my face a more luminous look.  As a makeup setting spray – it leaves my skin looking glowy and leaves my skin looking fresh.  Like I stated before, any powder products that I use on my skin looks airbrushed and doesn’t leave a powdery finish behind.  While I have used many products for setting my makeup – I especially enjoy the Skin Dew because it feels wonderful on my skin, leaves my face feeling refreshed and cool and it’s not sticky – which is the biggest plus… I hate the feeling of sticky or heavy products on my skin.

Powered by Echinacea GreenEnvy – A unique patent-protected variant of Echinacea Purpurea.  GreenEnvy contains the highest known concentration of phytochemical Cichoric Acid which is a potent natural antioxidant which helps protect and firm the skin by inhibiting the enzymes that break down collagen.  Cichoric Acid also normalizes the skin pigmentation process to promote a more evenly toned complexion.  Farmacy Skin Dew is farmer cultivated and scientist activated.  The distilled essence of the plant is the foundation of all Farmacy products.

Over the last year, I have tried a handful of Farmacy products and I have really enjoyed each one, but I think the Skin Dew Setting Spray may be my favorite.  It has a refreshing scent that really helps to awaken the senses, it kind of reminds me of an herbal or earthy fragrance with peppermint and rosemary.  The color of the product in the bottle – that green hue, kind of freaked me out at first… but it also gave me the first impression that this product is all natural.  I love the size of the bottle because it makes it easy to carry with me on the go, but still offers a lot of product since one to two spritz will cover my whole face.  While the spray comes with a higher price tag than most, it really lives up to the cost in my opinion and I know it will be one that I’ll continue to repurchase when I run out.

Using the product is simple – simply hold the nozzle about eight inches from your skin and spray gently across the face.  You want to start at the forehead and work down to the chin.  Like I mentioned previously, use this mist to give you a vitalizing and energizing mist that helps to add the extra benefit of moisture or to refresh your makeup and use to seal in your the fresh look of your makeup when you’re done applying.  This is a great spray for summer because it really feels great on the skin and smells awesome.

Most dentists suggest that anyone brushing their teeth brush for at least 2 minutes, 2x a day.  The ISSA mini features a Smile Helpers “Glee” and “Glum” to keep your child’s brushing routine on target.  You’ll see the “Glee” after 2 minutes of brushing (happy face) and the “Glum” will light up if you haven’t brushed for the 2 full minutes.  You will also see the “Glum” if you haven’t brushed in over 12 hours making this a fun tool for the boys to keep track of their brushing habits.  The boys look forward to seeing the happy face when they are done brushing.

Overall, the boys absolutely enjoy their Foreo ISSA mini as much as I enjoy my ISSA.  They have been using it for a few weeks now and I have noticed that they have a little competition in the bathroom to see who gets their happy face to come on first.  It’s fun and the colors would make anyone excited to brush their teeth.  As I mentioned before, I also own the adult version – the Foreo ISSA and it has made such a difference in the way I clean my teeth.  I do not use mine exclusively – I have a few other brushes I use in combination with it, but my gums have been so healthy because of it.  The twins (Luke & Isaiah) have been loving the little massages they get when brushing their teeth and they tell everyone about their cool toothbrushes.  I have noticed that their gums look healthy and their dentist says he thinks this was a good addition to their dental hygiene.

If you have been on the fence to picking up something like this for your kids, I highly suggest checking it out.  They are costly, yes – but considering the benefits, you have something that will be worth it.  Did I mention you only have to charge it for an hour and the charge lasts for 200 uses?  Yes, I consider this a lifesaver for sure.  Foreo is easily becoming a household name here and we love the products we have and will continue to support the brand and their products.  I have tried many different things that I consider to be gimmicky but we are loving the products Foreo offers and look forward to trying out more.

The VetIQ SkinCoat Soft Chews have become another favorite for our Ikaika.  They are Maximum Strength Skin Coat chews that helps to soften your pet’s coat from the inside out and leave it looking smooth and shiny.  Like beauty supplements for people, these  SkinCoat chews help your dog get soft skin, a shiny coat and a healthy heart.

What we love about this product is that it helps to reduce shedding.  Before we got Ikaika, we had a Pitbull named Koa.  We were used to a short haired dog that didn’t really shed much and took on a dog that literally could weave his own blanket with his hair.  Taking these chews over the last month have been a big difference in how Ikaika’s hair shed.  His hair is really soft and there is a lot less shedding than before.  It’s an easy to swallow and chew treat for our dog and he loves it.  Literally in just a short few months we noticed a huge difference.

These chews are soft and has Omega 3 to help support cognitive health in aging pets and healthy joint function.  It has a great flavor that my dog loves (I don’t know personally – but when Ikaika hears the bag ruffling, he comes running) and I love that it comes in a resealable bag to keep the product fresh.  Not to mention these are so affordable and my family has already repurchased at least once.

If you are looking to start your pet on any type of treat regimen or supplements, make sure you check with your vet to see that your pet can take these particular products.  Overall – our Ikaika loves both of them and has been enjoying them as his treats.  He eats one Minties a day and has 1-2 chews a day, usually split between morning and evening.  We really have been enjoying these and as I mentioned previously, we have already repurchased these once.

Now as I stated earlier, I would also provide you with a few tips on different ways people can make a difference during National Pet Month and always.  The animals we choose as pets, no matter what the types they are – need special love and attention too.  Here are a few things you can do to make a difference:

  • When looking to add a pet to the family, consider adopting a pet from the animal rescue shelter.  Giving a pet a home and offering care and love to an animal in need fosters warmth towards ourselves and others.  Not to mention, you’re doing some good and it feels good to do so.
  • While shopping or considering adoption of a pet, be sure to choose a pet that is appropriate for your family and home.  This is a decision that will affect all the lives involved and has special requirements.  Gather as much information about the dog or cat or reptile, etc. that you are looking to add to your home and see if it is the right choice for you and the new friend you will be obtaining.
  • Make sure your pet enjoys a nutritious and well-balanced diet.  If you already have a pet, you should know what works and what is required for your pets diet.  If not, be sure to check with your vet.  Not all pet foods are the same quality and be attentive when your pet is around strangers or friends, etc.  For example – Ikaika does not eat human food at all… and he does not eat scraps off the floor.  We are very careful to make sure that spills are cleaned up immediately and that anyone visiting does not feed him.
  • Ask your vet about your dog’s or pets health issues and what your pet may be prone to.  different breeds are prone to specific ailments and health issues.  For example – Ikaika can develop a heart murmur early on in his life or later in the years while our Koa (the pitbull) didn’t have many issues.  Male cats (another example) may experience urinary issues depending on their food or change in diet.  Different animals have different issues so you must be your pet’s advocate since they are unable to fend and speak for themselves.
  • Stop the cycle of pets without homes.  Prevent unwanted litters.  Each year, sadly there are about 2.7 million animals euthanized after entering animal shelters.  1.2 million dogs and 1.4 million cats are in that mix.  You can prevent an enormous amount of suffering by spaying or neutering your pet.

No matter the type of animal you have, caring for them is just as important as caring for oneself.  They are our pets and friends after all and a part of our family.  With a little love and care, we can make a pet’s entire world.

I can’t believe how much the liquid lipstick trend has blew up over the last year.  I have tried so many different brands and have built myself quite an extensive collection of this liquid greatness.  Today, I share with you a company that I have not tried prior to now and one that I have been enjoying.  Move over dry liquid lipsticks and make way for the era of bold and daring color with moisturizing feel and texture.  I introduce to you the Peeks Cosmetics Lip Blasters.

Peeks Cosmetics Lip Blasters ($14.00 USD) come in at least 20 different shades from your basic nudes and browns to bold reds and gorgeous shades of the rainbow.  You can even find black and white in the mix of colors they have available.  These fun and funky lip shades are sure to tickle anyone’s love for makeup and provide high intensity lip color in a semi-matte finish.  Each one is moisturizing, which is quite different from your average liquid lipsticks on the market today and they provide long-lasting and vibrant color in just one swipe.  With application you get a light weight formula that applies smoothly and a mint flavor that keeps your mouth looking and feeling kissably fresh all day.

A Cruelty Free, Gluten and Paraben Free product – this liquid lipstick is a bit different then what you are seeing in the market at the moment.  It leaves your lips with a gloss like texture and dries down to a semi-gloss / semi-matte once it’s been on the lips for a while.  I highly suggest you using a lip liner prior to application to keep the liquid in place through the day so you don’t get feathering or travel outside of your lip line and you can also blot the color some after application for longer wear.  Expect transfer with these babies… because they do and can slip off the lips like a traditional gloss and lack the sticky from a traditional gloss so they will come off really easily if not careful.

I find that these colors apply very bold and vibrant with one swipe.  However, since the doe foot applicator used to apply the product is smaller than most, it can take a few applications to cover your entire lip.  Reapplying this product is easy because your lips are not dried out like traditional liquid lipsticks that stain and dry down matte.  I found that after eating or drink, reapplying the product is a must and if I’m not eating or drinking I can get a few hours of wear before touching up.

As you can tell from the swatches below – most of the color is bold and vibrant without streaking.  Application on these is like dealing with a thin liquid, so it really makes blotting your lips or puckering your lips easy and you don’t have to worry about that sticky feel you can get or bunching from traditional liquid lipsticks.  I highly suggest that if you have naturally dry lips that you still exfoliate because certain colors (like the pink and purple) can settle into the lines of your lips and leave them looking dry even if the finish and texture of this product is glossy.

If you are looking to tone down the bright colors like Popularity and Purple Kisses you can simply blend in a warm brown lip liner or lipstick.  Something like Milani’s Color Statement lip liner in Spice will help to warm up the tone of those shades and make them a tad bit more wearable.  With Delicious – the deep brown Lip Blaster, you could add a light brown or cream brown shade to soften up the brown to make that more wearable.  One suggestion would be NYX’s Liquid Suede lip cream in Tea & Cookies blended with Delicious from Peeks to create a gorgeous mauve toned brown.

If you are looking at trying something new and are into the liquid lipstick craze, but you’re tired of the dry lips that those lipsticks can leave you… then I highly suggest checking Peeks Cosmetics Lip Blasters out.  These products are so cool and comfortable in texture and really leave your lips feeling moisturized with a vibrant punch of color.  Remember that while these have wonderful pigment, are bright and bold – they do have movement and can wipe off and transfer – so this is definitely not husband kiss approved (lol).  The gloss look can really offer your lips a hydrated and juicy look and the gloss look stays through out the wear.  If you blot your lips some, they still look a little wet – though they feel so comfortable on, you would probably think you have a liquid like lip balm on your lips.

When it comes to hair, well – I was blessed with lots of it… except for the department in which my lashes are concerned.  My Chinese & Filipino genes kicked in and left my lashes not only sparse, but short and tiny.  They are hard to see and basically look like I have none at all.  I do use false lashes to mask that and while I have considered lash extensions, I opted out of that choice because my eyes are too sensitive for the adhesive.  What I’m left with is little to no lashes on my peepers and a continuous search to find the mascara that will fix it all.  Recently I was sent the Pacifica DreamBig Lash Extending 7-in-1 Mascara to Try.  Let’s just say that I was skeptical and wasn’t quite sure it would work for me… but I gave it a go the last 2 – 3 months and I finally have my thoughts on this product for you.  Let’s get started, shall we?

Included in this mascara is a clinically studied peptied that has been shown to help improve natural lash length and volume.  The natural ingredients within the formulation help to condition the lashes.  I have noticed over the last 2-3 months that while my lashes are still short, they feel soft and are not as brittle as they tend to be.  With the mascara on my lashes, my lashes are soft and feel lightweight.  They are not stiff at all – which makes wearing this mascara nice.  I love the effect this mascara offers, though it is not waterproof and it can run on me very easily.  Since I have sensitive allergy prone, watery eyes, I noticed that it will run and smear very quickly once wet or teary eyed.  It can also smudge some… so I have to be careful to select a good time to wear this mascara.  But, even with a runny mess sometimes, I absolutely enjoy the look it offers and will continue to use it.

If I’m looking to put on mascara quickly and head out of the door, I tend to do one coat of the lengthening mascara and one coat of the volumizing side of the magic wand.  The results and difference in how my lashes look are pictured above.  If I added another thin coat of each of the lengthening brush and the volumizing – then I would have gotten lashes that are pretty substantial and visible.

The Pacifica DreamBig Lash Extending Mascara has a wet formula.  I’m not too fond of wet formula mascaras because they tend to clump my lashes before they offer any benefit.  This mascara can definitely be built up – but it also offers some clumping after too many layers (specially for me, because my lashes are quite short).  It took me a few tries to get the hang of how to use this mascara and I really needed to work on wiping off the excess before applying to my lashes so that it wouldn’t cause it to clump up.  The formula is nice – dark and rich, which I love.  After about 2-3 uses I did notice that the formula was a lot easier for me to work with, either because I finally figured out how to make it work or because the mascara dried some.

How do you use your Magic Wand?  Well, simply apply the first layer using the long brush.  Let it dry to the touch and twist the end of your wand to review the shorter brush that is used to build.  Apply the second layer.  I tend to use one layer of one brush and two layers of the other to help give my lashes the length I want.  What’s so great about this mascara is that you can continue to layer it for the look you want… layer away.  And, with daily use you will help to condition and grow your lashes.

Did I mention the packaging?  I absolutely love the chic white tube, but most importantly the stars and unicorns… well – it’s the bees knees and I love it.  We know I love mythical beings like fairies and unicorns and this mascara literally reminds me of unicorn tears sent to offer my lashes some awesome magic. 😉

Overall – as with many things from Pacifica, I’m quite impressed.  I have tried a few mascaras from the brand before and they just didn’t wow me or offer me anything that I liked, so I was so happy to find one that I really have been enjoying.  I have to be a bit careful when using it because it does smear or smudge on me if my eyes tear up.  On days when I don’t have that issue, it will go all day and look great.  I would love to see Pacifica offer a waterproof formula for this mascara because I would absolutely love it.  If you’re planning to use this at the beach this summer – I would probably skip it – because even with a little rain, I have raccoon eyes.  But, that still doesn’t keep me from enjoying it – because it does what it says it will.

As with anything from Pacifica, this mascara is 100% vegan and cruelty-free and overall lash friendly.  Like I mentioned previously – there are several places you can purchase this mascara when it’s in stock.  I hope it is a permanent item because it’s one I will use for my lifetime… I truly like it.  How about you?  Have you tried this mascara yet and if so what are your thoughts?  If not, what do you think about a mascara with such an interesting wand?  Gimmicky or lifesaver?  I think it’s a lifesaver!
