I am a body butter nut, especially during the winter months when my skin is so dry and I need the added moisture and protection.  I have tried many products over the years and I surely have my list of favorites when it comes to body butters.  But, recently I had the opportunity to try the Savannah Bee Royal Jelly Body Butter in Tupelo Honey and I wanted to share it with all of you.  Let’s face it – I’m a sucker with anything that has honey or the word “honey” in it – for obvious reasons, of course – but I was intrigued by this body butter because it also includes Royal Jelly which is known to be a nutrient-rich and precious ingredient of the  bee hive.  Having loved products with this additive, I knew I had to try it.  I featured this product on my Holiday Gift Guide – Stocking Stuffers and figured it was so good it needed it’s own little feature here.

The Savannah Bee Royal Jelly Body Butter comes in three different formulas – Original, Sensitive Skin and Tupelo Honey.  Each cute little jar (I love the honey pot shape) comes in two sizes – Full Size (6.7 oz/190g – $24.70) and Mini Size (1.65 oz/48g – $12.90).  I got the Tupelo Honey formula in the mini size which is made with fresh tupelo blossom fragrance and soft hints of vanilla and lemon.  The super rich formula combines royal jelly and other hive treasures as well as skin quenching butters and essential oils to leave the skin feeling soft and smooth.

So what’s so great about this “Royal Jelly” that I keep mentioning?  Well, Savannah Bee Company commonly uses four different hive ingredients their their health and beauty product line including – honey, beeswax, propolis and royal jelly.  Honey is a natural cleanser and skin softener, beeswax protects the skin and prevents water loss and propolis is known for its antibiotic and antiseptic qualities.  Royal jelly is a substance secreted from the glands near the head region of work bees.  It is thought of as a combination baby food and queen food.  Honeybee larvae (baby bees) are fed royal jelly for the first few days of their lives.  It’s a heavy dose of mega nutrition to the young bees off on the right foot.  When it comes to the future queen bee – that story gets a bit interesting.  The worker bees begin the process of “growing” a new queen by completely filling a special cell in the comb called a queen cell with royal jelly.   The larvae selected to be the future queen spends her early days literally swimming in royal jelly.  At this point she is genetically identical to all other work bee larvae but it is a fact that her prolonged feeding of royal jelly initiates her genetic transformation into the Queen!  The queen is then fed royal jelly the remainder of her life, which is quite long by worker bee standards.  This awesome jelly transforms her into the queen phenotype (body type) and the miraculous secretion allows this individual to live up to five years compared to the eight month average lifespan of a typical worker bee.  Royal Jelly is mostly water – but it’s very nutritious.  It contains a fair amount of protein, trace minerals and vitamins (particularly high levels of B vitamins) and is the key ingredient in several of the health and beauty products offered at Savannah Bee Company.

I know that lesson was a bit long winded, but I felt it was necessary.  We hear and read that products on the market include this royal jelly but we have no idea why or for what reason and it’s kind of cool to read and learn that the “Queen Bee” has her own little fountain of youth.  They say Royal Jelly is a “Cinderella” substance that turns a worker bee into a Queen and allows her to live 40 times longer than the  average bee as a result.  This amazing substance is surely worth focusing some on and I wanted to share this with you.  The awesome substance is known for its nourishing and deep moisturizing properties as well as its ability to promote skin’s elasticity and smooth appearance.  It’s a great additive in the Savannah Bee Body Butter because it leaves your skin feeling smooth and soft but also hydrated and moisturized – especially during the winter season.

The body butter is rich and thick in texture with a smooth application.  It includes other goodies from the hive like Propolis which helps to add a protective barrier on the skin and Beeswax which is an emollient to help quench dryness and protect skin’s own natural moisture barriers.  Rich and softening Pecan Seed Oil and the natural, delicate scent of it add a great final touch to this wonderful and luxurious product meant for a queen.  Smoothing the product onto the skin feels like a spa experience.  You can feel the oils and ingredients quenching your skin and leaving it smooth.  I love that I can apply this to my hands and feet without the feeling slippery or oily and it really just adds a huge punch of moisture to my skin.

If I had to make one suggestion, it is that the mini pot is a bit of a challenge to get the product out.  I would love to see the opening of the pot a little larger to allow for ease of use, but the body butter is so good – I find a way.  I love the thickness of this body body and as you apply it you literally can feel the moisture in your skin being revived.  It’s pretty darn awesome.

I also had the opportunity to try the Savannah Bee Natural Beeswax and Propolis Lip Balm in Salted Caramel.  Retailing for $6.50 – this awesome lip balm has been a favorite of mine since I got my hands on it and I have been using it religiously.  My lips feel soft and smooth and I love that I haven’t noticed it dry even with my drying liquid lipsticks.  With ingredients like coconut and olive oil, cocoa and hemp seed, this lip balm is never greasy, glides on smoothly and absorbs and protects my lips.  It also includes softening honey, pure propolis and nourishing royal jelly like the body butter. If you love lip balm – you’ll enjoy this one.  I also love the taste on my lips… mmmm caramel.

I am very impressed with Savannah Bee products.  They never test on animals and do not have petroleum-based ingredients.  All of their products are free of parabens and preservatives.  Their beeswax is organic and the products really feel good on the skin.  I can’t wait to try more products from this line.  Recently while in Target I stumbled upon the Savannah Bee display so you can find some of their products there or via their website.

Greatness For Skin In a Little Jar – Shiseido Ibuki Multi Solution Gel

It’s no secret that I am a huge skin care lover and will covet anything that will offer my skin much needed hydration and anti-aging capabilities.  Since I have very sensitive, Eczema prone skin, it is important for me to find skin care products that are not only effective in what I need them for but also gentle to my skin or else it will freak out.  Recently I was sent the Shiseido Ibuki Multi Solution Gel to give a go and try out and while it’s been years since I have used anything from the Shiseido line, I was excited to give this a run because it was a skin care line I did enjoy when I used it.

The Shiseido Ibuki Multi Solution Gel (Net wt. 30 ml / 1oz.) retails for $38.00 and comes in a really cool looking pot (jar) that matches the overall feel and look of the Ibuki line from Shiseido.  I’m not a huge fan of moisturizers or face products that come in a jar because they can get a bit messy, but since this is a gel – I can understand the cause behind it.  The gel can clog the pump from a traditional dispenser, so I can see the reasoning there.  To keep from germies and contamination, I use a makeup / beauty spatula to take out product and it is either disposable or sanitized after use.   Overall – the packaging is gorgeous however and offers such a chic and sophisticated look as does the products from Shiseido offer.

Corrects:  Roughness, Visible Pores, Breakouts and Blemish Marks.

The gel is an interesting one.  It looks like a sea foam green  reminds me of something that I would expect to have a cucumber scent, but I couldn’t detect much of a scent from the gel.  The consistency of it feels firmer than I had expected and reminds me of the slime/ooze that I would buy for my sons.  While it feels like that, it still has a light texture and feel and smooths onto my skin very easily.  The gel absorbs pretty quickly onto my skin, leaving my face feeling quenched some and I didn’t notice any sticky residue – which is a huge plus.  Once the product was applied, I noticed it not only went on easily but I didn’t even realize it was there once it dried.

Since I have dry skin and my skin is Eczema prone, I’m always very careful with how products are and test them in small areas prior to using them all over my face.  I was very amazed with how well this moisturized my skin while using it on its own and then with my favorite skin care products.  Since this product is for all skin types, I was a bit worried that it would be too drying for me since my face especially needs lots of moisture.  This light weight gel includes an exclusive PhytoTarget Complex that enhances the skin’s natural moisture factors to help build the skin’s resistance to external stressors.  I don’t often use products that include salicylic acid because I don’t have very many breakouts and with my sensitive skin, it can cause my face to feel dry.  My skin was not only left hydrated and moisturized, but my skin felt so smooth and soft and I didn’t didn’t even notice it had salicylic acid in it.

This gel is light weight (as stated above) and non-greasy, which is a huge plus.  I did have a small breakout while testing this product due to my monthly friend and I noticed that it cleared up very quickly, so I think it definitely helps to heal blemishes.  I didn’t notice any dry patches or spots and overall I really enjoy this product.  The cost is reasonable considering the amount you get in the product because I found that due to the texture of the gel, it smooths on well and a little of the product goes a long way.  I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a good moisturizing product and love that it worked for my sensitive skin.  I know I’ll be repurchasing this product when I run out of mine.

TelomErase Triple Telomere Targeting Serum is a 6-in-1 Multi-corrective that erases, tightens, brightens, blurs and moisturizes as well as regenerates.  The product contains the most powerful combination of new ingredients available to help visibly reduce the appearance of sags & bags, dark circles, fine lines, sun spots, redness, pore size and laxity.  I received sample sizes of this serum to try from Reviv Serums.  The full sized product is currently on sale for $143.00 (retail $299.00)  and includes 60 mL / 2 fl. oz. worth of product.  When I first seen the price of this product, I literally almost fell off my chair.  This product is expensive and I’ll be the first person to admit it.  Is it worth the cost?  Let’s learn a little more about it, shall we?

The TelomErase Serum is the first product of its kind with three proven telomere targeters:  Cycloastragenol + Renovage + Telosomyl (all of which I have no idea about – just saying).  These ingredients are the latest in cosmetic chemistry spotlighting telomere stabilization.  You can check out the video to get a little more information here.

A conference by Nobel laureate Dr. Elizabeth Blackburn at the recent American Academy of Dermatology conclave in San Francisco underlined the clear correlation between telomere length and integrity with overall health and skin condition. Protecting telomeres is a valid strategy to maintain healthy skin, Dr. Blackburn noted. A study from Harvard Medical School showed that telomere shortening is a root cause of cellular aging. An enzyme, telomerase, has been shown to slow or even reverse telomere shortening that occurs as we age, but the amount of telomerase declines as we get older. The development of a sensitive and efficient telomerase activity detection method has only recently made it possible to quantitate telomerase activity.

Research states that in a 30 day, 22 person consumer study of TelomErase, over 90% of consumers tested and noted a reduction in the appearance of skin laxity and skin roughness.  88% agreed that the area around the eye appeared improved and 74% of testers also saw a reduction in the appearance of redness and large pores.  90% agreed that it made their skin more soft and smooth.

So what about me, did I get any results after using these for about 2 1/2 weeks??  Well… first, let me start by saying that I felt and seen visible results instantly.  I love a product that can provide instant results, it’s gratifying to say the least.  I noticed my pores and fine lines kind of plumped up (if that makes any sense) and my pores were less visible after applying the product.  A little of the product goes a long way – literally, a little drop or pump of the product smoothed onto the skin is all I needed.  I also love that after just a few days, I noticed that the areas on my face where I tend to get the most dry – did not get many dry patches as it normally would, especially during the colder months like it is now.  My skin feels smooth and soft and when I apply blush on my cheeks, it smooths on nicely – without primer.  When this serum is applied to my under eyes – I noticed my puffiness diminished a lot – which is a huge deal.  The last few days I have been without sleep and even my dark circles were reduced.

This product has a liquid like texture and squeezes easily out of the pump.  It reminds me of a vitamin c serum, very similar in texture and applies easily and smoothly.  I love that it doesn’t leave my skin sticky after application and dries / soaks into my skin quickly.  It’s kind of orange or butter yellow in color.

For The SkinCare Lover This Holiday - TelomErase Triple Telomere Targeting Serum

I totally think this product works well and I would continue to use it.  However, the price point for the full size bottle is out of my reach and not something I would be able to afford.  This seurm does have key ingredients that I use daily in my skin care like Hyaluronic Acid, which means I am getting some of the benefits of my favorite serums with use of this product and I didn’t notice any adverse effects to my skin – which is a great thing since my skin is so darn sensitive.  At initial application I did notice a little tingling sensation, but not so much that it burned or made my face irritated.

Would I buy this product myself?  Well, it’s completely out of my price range at the moment, but if I had an expendable income – YES, I would.  I love how my face feels after testing this product myself and I think it’s a great serum.  I just can’t afford it and don’t think I will any time soon.  I think it’s a great product and I would continue to use it if it wasn’t so costly.  Considering the ingredients and what makes this serum so unique, I can understand that the chemistry makeup of this serum is what makes it so expensive, but unfortunately it is out of my financial reach.  I totally suggest it however, and would recommend to anyone that can afford it.

If you use cleansing tools to remove your makeup for that “squeaky clean” you will enjoy this particular product.  I hardly use face or foundation products, but I have used this to remove face makeup when I was wearing it and it removed the product easily and left my skin feeling really clean and exfoliated.  What I love is that when cleaning the brush head after removing dark face products or makeup – the brush head gets really clean.  With a little bit of my face cleanser, I clean the brush head with ease leaving it white and pretty again – unlike other products similar that leave that funky yuck of a residue behind.  Of course, if you are someone that uses foundation daily – I’m not sure if it will clean just as well… but I always feel like my brush head is very clean for my next use – which is a huge plus for me.  Who wants to put funky grime on their face anyway?  Certainly not me!

Michael Todd Soniclear Elite

I love the Soniclear Elite as much as I did the original Soniclear – but just as the first, I am unable to use it daily due to my sensitive skin or my Eczema will flare up or my skin will have a bad reaction.  I don’t necessarily attest this to the product itself as any of my cleansing tools cannot be used daily even if meant specifically for skin sensitivity.  It is an added bonus that it has a great antimicrobial benefits as other cleansing brushes did not and because of this, the germ-a-phobe in me didn’t like those.  I particularly like to use this product on my body because it works well for what I need and after shopping the Michael Todd site, I’m looking forward to picking up all kinds of attachments and add-ons to make this product more useful and beneficial for my needs.
