I’ll be honest, I didn’t think that I would write about these, but since I already filmed the video review and it’s been sitting in my Que for release for a few weeks now, I figured that I would write one anyway.  My opinions haven’t changed since first trying these lippies and I doubt that they will.  Let’s get on with it – shall we?  Today I’m talking to you about the Wet n Wild Color Icon Metallic Liquid Lipsticks from the Limited Edition Lost in the Wild Flowers collection.

The Wet n Wild Color Icon Metallic Liquid Lipsticks from the Lost in the Wild Flowers collection showed up in my local Walgreens about a month (or more) ago and I found four shades available.  The display was quite picked through so I’m not quite sure if there are more colors available, but I picked up what my Walgreens had and I was really excited to get my hands on them.  Retailing for just $3.99 these metallic liquid lipsticks were a part of a limited edition collection that included nail polishes and some blush and highlighters (or that is what I seen in the display) and I decided I would only pick up the lipsticks.

Now this new craze of metallic liquid lipsticks seem to be hitting quite a few companies and brands as they are being released all over the internet and you may have already seen different brands like Kylie Jenner and Milani – even ColourPop recently released a set of them.  I was quite excited to try one that was affordable.  After bringing the four shades home with me, I immediately began to swatch each one.

The packaging is adorable and I love how small it is while still packing in a good amount of product.  The doe foot applicator is also quite nice.  It has a slight dip in the applicator allowing you to apply the product to your lips easily and ensuring the product hugs your lips to create shape.  It reminds me of the Jordana Sweet Cream liquid lipstick applicator which I talk about in this post here.  The only difference is that the one from Wet n Wild, the applicator is a little more on the fluffier side, but it still makes applying the product a breeze.

If you are looking for a lip product that is much like a gloss, you may like this particular lippy.  This reminds me of a glittery gloss with a similar texture.  It’s kind of odd to me to be honest and applying it on my lips – while the colors are pigmented, it looked weird and felt uncomfortable.  This is not a liquid lipstick texture I would prefer.  It reminds me of a gel like lip gloss formula with shimmer and metallic flecks.

Longevity… I couldn’t say that these lasted AT ALL.  They kiss off very easily and drinking or eating anything really left a mess behind.  While they do have nice pigment and color, I hate that when I wipe it off my lips, it leaves that metallic shimmer behind which settles into the fine lines and cracks in my lips.  It’s unattractive and really emphasizes all those lines on my lips whether at it’s full pigmentation or faded.  I also haven’t seen any other colors available in this line and while I’m not a fan, maybe a different color selection would make for a different opinion.  All of the shades have a blue base to them, which is not my favorite to wear – especially if they have a shimmer or metallic look to them.

Since they are so affordable, I think they would definitely be a great topper for a matte lipstick or something fun to wear.  They oddly remind me of my childhood – which by the way, I am a child of the 80s and a teen of the 90s, so that says a lot about the shade range and finish.  While I was able to apply the lip products and get color from them, there is a lot of streaky color application and sometimes I felt like I was applying more and more but rubbing off color at the same time.  While these are cheap, unless you have something fun planned for them – I don’t think they would be used well for every day or even special occasions.  I have had MANY Wet n Wild lippies over the years and these definitely made the “eh” list because I have them so I’ll try to make use of them, but I’m not a fan and don’t think I will be.  If I had to absolutely choose one out of the whole bunch, I think “Coming Up Roses” – the darkest shade in the bunch, would probably be my favorite – though, I wouldn’t exactly use the word “favorite”.  One I know I would be able to make use of is the purple shade – Indigo Your Own Way.  When it comes to the metallic part in that particular lipstick, it lends for the glitter to be more wearable then the rest.

metallic liquid lipsticks, liquid lipsticks, lipsticks, wet n wild, wet n wild color icon metallic liquid lipsticks, metallic liquid lipsticks, wet n wild, lost in the wild flowers, swatches, beauty, makeup, lips, limited edition collection,

In the packaging, these look like absolutely beautiful colors and I think they are… but for me personally, I think they just were not the right fit.  At under $4.00 each – the price point is nice and I’m sure I’ll figure out a way to make use of them.  Have you tried these yet and if so, what are your thoughts?  If you haven’t, do you think you’ll be checking any of these out.

I have always been a fan of Wet n Wild and I’m really enjoying their new releases I’ve seen hitting the stores lately, but this particular set I think could use some improvements.  Texture, longevity and overall formulation could use some changes and are certainly to be desired.  While this is my opinion of these liquid lipsticks from Wet n Wild, that doesn’t change my general opinion of the brand, and I do still enjoy what WnW offers.

It seems like it’s been quite a while since I’ve shown my face in a makeup look or tutorial or anything along those lines.  As much as I love makeup, I love a bare face so much more and besides a little tinted lip color or lip balm and some mascara, I haven’t been really using much makeup lately.  With the boys out on Summer break and I feeling like a needed a little refresh, I figured I would pull out some makeup products I haven’t touched in a while and a few that I have been loving and bronze the heck out of my face while adding some glow and a little pop of color.  My GRWM video which you can click and watch here (also embedded below) is quite long since I’m chatting and talking it up like girlfriends do, so if you want the shorter version, just keep reading.  If you want to come hang out with me and talk story for 30 minutes or so, hey, grab something to drink – cup of joe or a glass of somethin’ and click play.

Like most of my makeup looks, I didn’t really give it any thought and just pulled at different cosmetics to create something I knew was functional and that I could use during the day.  It seems like a really long time since I utilized my Milani Bella Eyes Gel Shadows, so I figured I would grab those and make use of them.  Frankly, I just really wanted to use Bella Khaki – it’s such a gorgeous color and I just don’t use it as much as I should.  If you are looking for a soft pop of color, a shade like Bella Khaki is gorgeous for that kind of look – it’s a gorgeous green with a light gold shift so it works really well with a bronze or neutral eye look.

This eye look may require some additional layering, but it’s very easy to create and I love that you really can’t screw it up – it’s all about layering and blending.  You can certainly use this look without lashes and it would still be very wearable for every day – but since my lashes are pretty much non-existent, well – it was a given that I pop some wispies on and call it a day.

** The photos were taken with my phone, so I hope they offer a good visual for anyone reading.  Video also filmed with my phone.

That’s pretty much it.  The look is simple and easy to create and like I mentioned earlier, I do have a video that walks you through the steps if you’re interested in learning how I did it.  It’s a long one as I chat about my life at the moment and explain each step – so if you’re interested in hanging out with me, grab your favorite drink and watch the video embedded above or click here to watch directly on YouTube.

What about you… do you rock out a bronze look as summer season hits?  Comment below and let me know.

As a child growing up in Hawaii, you could find Aloe Vera plants everywhere and anywhere you could think of, including our backyard.  My dad used it to treat our burns and sunburn during the summer and other medicinal uses, but I had never heard about drinking aloe water until a few years ago, maybe because I didn’t pay attention to it much or it wasn’t told to me directly.  With my sons in full sports mode for summer (we are finishing up basketball season and going into football season in about a month), we always try to ensure that we keep all of our boys fully hydrated and ready to play in the hot summer sun.  Today, I share with you my thoughts and my son Kevin’s on Detox Water, a Bioactive Aloe Water.

Detox Water is a mother inspired drink created by Founder Kenneth Park.  In his childhood days Kenneth’s mother had experienced serious digestive issues and no medication worked in trying to heal her ailments.  A doctor she seen suggested trying aloe.  By adding aloe water to her diet, she not only resolved her stomach problems, but she improved her immune response to the on-going stomach pains.  After realizing the plethora of benefits she experienced from ingesting aloe, Ken’s mother shared her smoothies with the rest of the family.  Each morning with breakfast she would serve her delicious aloe-filled smoothies, blended with fruits and yogurt to neutralize the plant’s naturally bitter taste.

Detox Water is actually the re-launch of the business that Kenneth started in his dorm room at Babson College.  In 2012, he created Superleaf Organic Aloe Juice and sold cases on campus, while juggling classwork and business.  While it was quite successful – Superleaf drink was similar in variation to existing aloe drinks on the market – which did not deliver all the potential health benefits of truly bioactive aloe vera.  After going back to the grind and working everything out, Detox Water became what it is today.

“Detox Water was born in the spirit of my mom and is testament to a strong commitment to health  I believe in aloe vera’s healing properties because it healed me, prepared me for every day.  I created Detox Water to share my experience with you, help you heal from the inside out.” – Kenneth Park (Founder, Detox Water)

Detox Water is available in three different delicious flavors – Original, Pinamint and Mangaloe.  Each bottle contains 350mg of ACTIValoe aloe gel flakes with no less than 10% aloe polysaccarides by dry weight.  I know it’s a lot of technical talk – but basically, that means it’s comparable to drinking a shot of the most extensitively researched and clinically-proven pure aloe juice.  Each bottle is filled with electrolytes and vitamins to help replenish and restore your body with electrolytes, vitamin c and a full range of vitamin b’s.  What also makes this so wonderful is that Detox Water is made without the use of artificial colors, flavors and preservatives.  The aloe water is able to provide healthy hydration from the best of what nature has to offer.  Detox Water is just 15 calories per serving and is rejuvenating, refreshing aloe water paired with organic and natural flavors.  It’s literally something that helps to make you feel great and not guilty.

My entire family has been loving Detox Water – so much so that we have already repurchased a case for us to share.  Each case retails for $45.00 (12 bottles).  My son Kevin however, has been loving Detox Water as a way to re-hydrate after his basketball games.  Most of the gyms here in Hawaii are old and many of them do not have air circulation through out.  After an extensive game my son’s shirts are drenched in sweat and he’s beyond exhausted.  Drinking Detox Water that has been chilled is a great way to hydrate and really just give his body back the nutrients he lost while running about the court.

“Detox Water tastes GREAT!  The Mangaloe is my favorite but all of the flavors taste really good.  After one sip I feel hydrated and refreshed.  I love to drink a few sips of this during half-time to get my energy back and give me the extra electrolytes my body needs to recover from an intense game.  I have never tried aloe water before, but you can’t taste any bitter flavor at all.  It’s delicious and I really enjoy it.” – Kevin

As a mother, I try to instill proper care of your body and health to all of my children.  We are all busy bodies in our household and by teaching my sons at a young age that caring for your well-being is important, I’m hoping it will continue on with them as they become adults and well into their life.  I also suffer from ailments of health and have found after drinking Detox Water, it has improved my issues with my stomach, my IBS and other problems I have been experiencing.  I’m not a doctor, but I do notice that things have improved with my health, and of course – my son noticed immediately after drinking his first Detox Water how his body felt rejuvenated.

I received Detox Water over a month ago and my family and I have really tested the products for a long period of time to see it’s benefits.  I’m beyond impressed and as I stated before, we have already placed an order for replenishing our water.  I have never tried anything like it before and I didn’t think it would taste as good as it did.

If you are interested in trying Detox Water for yourself and getting you a case – you can do so by checking out their website.  You can opt to do a single purchase of a Detox Water case or sign up for their Delivery Subscription and get 20% off your orders.  I haven’t found anywhere local that sells this water as of yet, so we have to order our case online.  However, it’s worth it if you are looking for Immunity boosts and other benefits like skin health & anti-aging, and anti-inflammatory and heart health help.  I have been really liking how it has helped my stomach, my blood pressure and my immune system.

I wouldn’t consider myself to be the object of anyone’s hair envy… in fact, I have mentioned time and time again how much I have grown in learning how to care for and treat my hair over the years.  But, apparently – my hair is a strong asset for me and something I’m known for.  Long, curly… absolutely unruly at times, my locks are a statement all their own and they definitely have come a long way.  Over the years I have tried many many hair care products and have found my favorites in both the expensive and high-end brands and those you find more affordable and at the drugstore.  But, I’m always on the hunt for a hair care line that will offer my hair results consistently as well as something I know I can afford at a moments notice, not something I have to save up for.  I’ve talked about HASK here on my blog a few times over the last couple of years and I have so because I have absolutely enjoyed the line.  Today I share with you the HASK Kalahari Melon Oil Hair Care Collection and my thoughts on the products as well as how they have worked for my hair.

Hask, color treatment, hair, hair color treatment, nurturing color treated hair, hask kalahari melon oil, hask hair care, affordable hair care, hair care,

The HASK Kalahari Melon Oil Collection consists of four products (as does most of the HASK hair care collections) in the line – Shampoo, Conditioner, Deep Conditioner and Shine Oil.  Each product is formulated with Color Shield Complex, which helps to protect color-treated hair from damage and fading caused by every day washing and heat styling.

So what is Kalahari Melon Oil?  Well, the Kalahari Melon is found in the African desert and thrives by retaining its moisture in the driest conditions.  The Kalahari Melon has moisturizing, regenerating and restructuring properties thanks to its high content of essential fatty acids (50 – 70% linoleic acid) which is known to help contribute to the integrity of the cell wall and to the suppleness and beauty of your skin and hair.  When the oil is extracted and used in beauty regimens, it plays a key role in the regulation of hydration and restructuring of the epidermis of the skin and hair follicle.  This wonderful ingredient counteracts moisture loss and fading, leaving your color-treated hair healthy and vibrant.

Let’s take a look at each product and discuss the benefits and uses, shall we?

Kalahari Melon Oil Color Protection Shampoo ($5.99 – 12 fl.oz. / 355 mL) helps to shield and replenish the hair.  With the color Shield Complex, it has a UV absorber to help protect colored hair from damage and fading.  The Kalahari Melon Oil helps to lock in your color and block damage from your hair, leaving it nourished and shiny.  With the Color Shield Complex, cranberry and sunflower oils, this shampoo will delicately cleanse without stripping, drying or fading your hair and provide long lasting, vibrant color.  Simply apply to wet hair, massage into a lather, rinse thoroughly and repeat if desired.  This product is ideal for daily use, but I only wash my hair 2 – 3 times a week so I use as such.

** After using this product, my hair looked shinier, felt soft and was very manageable.  What I love the most about it is even if it is oil infused, my hair did not look or feel weighted down or heavy and it was not greasy after the 2nd and 3rd day without washing.

Kalahari Melon Oil Color Protection Conditioner ($5.99 – 12 fl.oz. / 355 mL) also helps to shield and replenish the hair.  With the same Color Shield Complex as the shampoo, it absorbs UV to protect colored hair from damage and fading.  The conditioner softens, detangles and helps to maintain long lasting vibrant color.  To use apply to wet hair after shampooing or use as a co-washing product.  Leave on for 1-2 minutes and rinse thoroughly.  This product is ideal for daily use as well, though again – I use it as much as the shampoo.

** After using this product my hair felt really soft and tangles literally fall out of my hair without finger combing.  I absolutely love the scent and love how soft my hair feels.

Kalahari Melon Oil Color Protection Deep Conditioner ($2.99 – 1.75 fl.oz. / 50g) also includes the Color Shield Complex to protect your colored hair from damage and fading.  This deep conditioner is an ultra-restorative, hydrating treatment that will preserve and nurture your color treated hair.  With the Kalahari Melon Oil, it helps to counteract dry-out and fading, leaving your hair soft and nourished while still helping to maintain the long-lasting vibrant color we all look for in our hair.  To use this deep conditioner, simply apply a generous amount to your clean, wet hair.  Due to the length of my hair – I usually will get two uses out of one packet, depending on the conditioning process I’m following.  Massage into your hair focusing on the damaged areas and leave on for 10 minutes.  Rinse well and style as usual.  You can use this deep conditioner ideally 1-2 times a week or as needed.  I usually use it once a week and have used this particular product several times.

** It’s hard to find a good deep conditioner that doesn’t weigh my hair down or leave my scalp so greasy that I break out.  This one leaves my scalp feeling nice, but my hair is not heavy and feels great.

Kalahari Melon Oil Color Protection Shine Oil ($2.99 – 5/8 fl. oz. / 18mL)  is perfect to preserve and nurture your gorgeous colored locks.  This lightweight, alcohol-free oil instantly absorbs to help protect color treated hair and leaves behind no funky greasy residue.  It can be used on both wet and dry hair to create a silky, smooth finish.  Distribute a coin-sized amount evenly throughout hair and avoid the root area.  Apply more as you need and best used on hair already protected and treated with the HASK Kalahari Melon Oil System.

** I use this product on my hair when it is wet to help lock in and seal my hair shaft with much needed oil.  I also use this product on my hair dry when I need to help give my hair a little extra shine, eliminate some frizz and bring back much needed moisture in my locks.  While it is suggested to not get near the root area, I can’t help to avoid it sometimes, but I don’t notice that my hair is weight down or greasy at all.

As I mentioned previously, I have used different collections from HASK in the past and it’s a brand I continue to purchase and stock in my house.  I love the products and I love the quality of hair care I get from the brand.  Choosing HASK whether it is their Kalahari Melon Oil Collection or others from the brand ensures that I will be getting the same quality I have come to know and love and that my hair loves too.  The HASK Kalahari Melon Oil Collection is free of sulfates, parabens, phthalates, gluten, drying alcohol and artificial colors so I know that it will not only protect my hair and my color but also help to keep my curls looking great.  With so many different brands on the market today, it’s great to know that there is one out there that I can rely on to offer my hair care routine awesome hair loving ingredients and protection.

Have you tried anything from HASK before? What are your favorites if you have?  I have tried several of their collections from the Argan Oil and Keratin Oil to others as well and I have ALWAYS been impressed.  If you are looking for quality products at super awesome price tags, I highly suggest you check out this brand.  You can visit their website at: http://www.haskbeauty.com and check out their “Where to buy” tab to see locations near you where you can get the products.  You can also find them at your local Target or Walmart as well as other retailers.
