I’m a wholehearted believer that great makeup application is done with great tools. But, over the years I’ve learned that your tools or makeup do not need to be expensive or have a luxury price tag to get the job done. I have tried a variety of different tools from different brands and I can attest that quality and cost are not always one in the same. Beauty Junkees has easily become one of my favorite makeup brush brands (and makeup brands for that matter) and today I’m sharing with all of you a new collection of brushes.
Beauty Junkees is a brand I’ve talked about here on the blog many times. I’ve recommended their products to many friends and readers over the years and it’s become a favorite of mine to use for just about every and any occasion. What I love about Beauty Junkees is that they are so affordable, that it makes creating your everyday makeup looks an absolute breeze. Beauty Junkees brushes and cosmetic products are sold via their website and on their Amazon Storefront.
Let’s talk about their new Duo Fiber Collection. Retailing for just $29.97, this set includes 6 brushes and come with a faux leather zip-up bag. Each brush is labeled with its use/name so that beginners or pros can utilize the tool for what it’s for. The 6 piece Duo Fiber Makeup Brush Set has long and short synthetic hairs to pick up and distribute the perfect amount of makeup. Each application will provide a sheer, flawless, skin-perfecting finish. Back in my freelance days I often used duo-fiber brushes to apply cream and liquid products so that it left the skin and application soft and blended. The short bristles hold the product, while the long bristles blend to a featherweight finish. These brushes work great with liquids, creams, and powders. They are ideal brushes for acneic, scarred, dry or aging skin. Each brush comes with a solid wood handle with double crimped copper ferrules. I love how soft these are and the fact that there is such a great selection of brush type in this set. You can literally create a look using just this set of brushes, from foundation and concealer down to the eye makeup and highlight. These brushes do not shed and are just perfect considering the price point and how affordable they are.
The Pro Powder set comes with 3 brushes and retails for $19.97. This gorgeous brush set also comes in a faux leather zip-up bag and is also labeled for easy to use simplicity. The 3 Piece Pro Powder Makeup Brush Set is best used to apply powder all over the face and body for that gorgeous, polished finish. These brushes work great with loose, pressed, minerals, blush, contour and highlighter powders and I love how soft and fluffy they are. They are made with high density synthetic Taklon bristles and are vegan-friendly. Each brush comes with a solid wood handle, double crimped copper ferrule and is created to not shed. I love this set because it is the perfect type of brush for an effortless application or all over color. Did I mention these were soft? My gosh, they are so soft that it’s hard to not want to pet them 😉
I’m always excited to try new products from the Beauty Junkees line. The brand has flourished and extended their line of products a lot since I first started using the brand about three years ago. With over 200 makeup brushes in my collection, I find that I will always pull for a Makeup Junkees brush before any other brand. I am also a huge fan of the different makeup they now have available – from eyeshadows to blush and highlight (lippies and brow products too). Beauty Junkees is becoming one of my favorite brands for a wide selection of beauty products. You can search {Beauty Junkees} on the blog and read up on some of my favorites from the brand.
If you’re like me and love a minimal makeup look or go for a glammed up smoky eye, I definitely suggest checking out what Beauty Junkees has to offer. I think that price really doesn’t always determine the quality and in this case, the quality surpasses the price point making these brush sets an absolute steal.

. I honestly think that I’ve been neglecting many of the brands that I have in my makeup collection and supplementing them for my Pixi Beauty favorites.…
I’m so excited to share a makeup look for all of you on this beautiful “Makeup Monday”. Today is extra special because I have a Guest Writer here on Honeygirl’s World and this will be her first post that she shares with you. Those of you that have been around the blog or my YouTube channel for a while may have seen my little sister Harmony stop in and share a smile. Today she’ll be sharing a little information and her FOTD featuring BeYu Cosmetics. Please join me in welcoming her to my site.
On my face I am wearing BeYu Cosmetics. I have on the Color Patch Eye Palette 348-4303 which has green tones with gold undertones and shimmer. My eyes are lined with BeYu soft liner 667 for eyes which is a teal metallic, while on my lashes is BeYu Beauty Queen Volume Waterproof Mascara in black. The mascara itself is a very thin formula, so none of my lashes clumped together, making for effortless application. First coat already defined the lash length, and as I kept applying it was a very buildable and it was not a thick formula. Although the wand was bigger than my regular mascara, I had no problem applying the mascara at all and particularly loved the lightweight feeling after application.
I have lined and filled in my lips with BeYu soft liner 5954 for lips, an almost burnt orange, without being so intense. On top of that I am wearing BeYu catwalk volume gloss. It is said to be an instant lip plumper and it does seem to have the effect of Plumping my lips. It is a thick consistency but it’s not too uncomfortable on the lips. It definitely is a gloss so of course, it will transfer should I eat or drink anything and I would need to reapply but it pairs perfectly with the soft lip liner, color matching perfectly with the lip liner.
The eyeshadows are very soft it feels like I have nothing on and there was absolutely no fallout, yet the color pigments shine beautifully in the light, reflecting every speck of iridescence. The mascara caught every single Lash on my eyes and is not heavy or thick. The soft liner pencils for lip and for eyes glided on smoothly and their color payoff is quite excellent as well.
Normally I prefer a matte eyeshadow as a base in any one of my pallets but for these quads, I think that every single shade available is gorgeous and easily wearable. Freely mix and match the shades to your individual preference, but quite honestly each quad has Shades that you could pair with anything and take with you on the go the only thing that I wish is that there were some form of mirror that came with the quads but I was able to use mirrors that I had already on hand.
Stay tuned for other looks using different quads and products from BeYu in the future, as well as a full review of some of the products you have seen displayed in this post.
Thank you Harmony for contributing to Honeygirl’s World.
You know, living on a small little island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean usually means that I get left out when it comes to events focused on beauty, etc. It’s not that I’m literally left out, but the fact is that many of those events don’t happen here in the islands. So, when they do – I make sure to attend and soak up as much information as I possibly can. About a week ago I was invited to attend the Maui Muse (which I shared about prior to the event here). I was excited to attend and my little sister came along with me to get a little knowledge for herself. The Maui Muse is the first event held here on Maui and was hosted by the Andaz Wailea Resort.
The Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort was absolutely excited to launch their new series hosted on the property, dubbed Maui Muse. This event features various artists across fashion, photography, music, beauty, wellness and much much more. The Maui Muse series at Andaz Maui will be offering guests the opportunity to learn new crafts from some of the world’s leading experts.
To kick off the launch, the first event was held on Tuesday, May 9th from 10am to 12pm and featured MAC Cosmetics as the Maui Muse guest. This gave guests at the resort as well as locals a chance to learn expert tips and tricks on a natural and easy beauty makeup look that can withstand the humid Hawaii weather. MAC Regional Makeup Artist Rebekah Higa. This event was hosted in a private room with a gorgeous view of the ocean. Rebekah performed a live demonstration that provided a plethora of techniques, suggested products and more to create a show stopping but “perfect for Hawaii” look.
I am a huge believer in continued learning, no matter how much you already know – there’s always room for improvement. Attending this event allowed me to get a personal makeup lesson without sacrificing a comfortable location or all the details. I think it’s also very important that when learning to apply makeup – it’s geared towards the weather and location the makeup will be worn. Many don’t realize that Hawaii weather makes makeup practically melt and great techniques and little tips and trips make a huge difference in application as well as longevity.
As an attendee, I received a little treat bag with face charts and a few samples of the products that were used in creating the makeup look – MAC Strobe Cream, MAC Lightful C Tinted Cream SPF 30 with Radiance Booster, MAC False Lashes Extreme Black, and samples of the MAC Shadescents and Lipsticks.
It’s always exciting and fun for me to attend these types of events because I’m reminded of the little details I tend to miss on a daily basis. Makeup is an artform and it’s fun to watch others get creative while learning a trick or two that I may not have remembered or never learned. I also get quite ecstatic when I get to learn about new products. Rebekah Higa (MAC Regional Training Makeup Artist) was so fun to watch and my sister and I surely learned a lot while attending.I’m not quite sure when the next Maui Muse event will be, but I’ll be sure to share it here should I get the information to do so. I definitely suggest checking it out and take advantage of this service that the resort offers. Besides, where else can you go and sit with a view like this one while learning a specific craft?
For more information you can call Andaz Maui Concierge at 808-243-4703.
Thank you Andaz Maui and Maui Muse for including me to take part in this event. I had a blast and look forward to the next.

I know Spring has hit Hawaii when I drive around the up country area where I live and notice purple blossoms from the Jacaranda trees that line our streets here. But, that is not the only thing that reminds me of spring – besides the trees and of course the weather, my skin texture and need for certain products definitely changes. I’ve been using Rodial products for about a year now and I find that my skin really soaks up all the benefits of the products during the cool spring months. It’s that time of the year when we are starting to transition from colder months to warmer here in Hawaii. Today, I’m going to share with you some products I’ve been using the last month from Rodial so let’s get to it, shall we?
Rodial is a UK based brand that recently made it’s way into the United States, offering a variety of skin care and cosmetic products. I have tried several products from their Dragon’s Blood, Stem Cell Super-Food and Snake lines and for the most part, I’ve been quite impressed with the products I’ve tried so far. Today I’m going to be sharing with you 5 products that are “new to me” and recently added to the Rodial line up.
The first products are makeup types and include the Baking Powder ($48.00) and The Baking Brush ($46.00).
The Baking Powder (New Product) is a loose setting powder (I got the color 01) that helps you to achieve the perfect flawless base for your makeup. This setting powder is silky and quite smooth which is ideal for “baking” your makeup – a technique that has been used for years in the drag communities and by makeup artists, and has recently (over the last year) become a popular step in the beauty community and YouTubers alike. Baking your makeup is all about flawlessly setting your makeup without creasing or caking.
While you can pretty much “bake your face” with any loose translucent powder – I prefer when doing this method of makeup that the powder be smooth and lightweight. I also prefer a powder that will add a bit of brightness to the face effortlessly, without leaving a white cast behind when sweeping the powder away. I must say – I was quite impressed with the Rodial Baking Powder. It’s smooth to the touch and feels great on the skin. Once you sweep the powder away – you are left with a flawless makeup application.
I will say however, that the amount of product you get – 4g / 0.14 oz Net. Wt. is not a lot considering the price tag. While a little goes a long way with the product, especially since it is such a finely milled powder, when using something like this specifically for baking, you will go through product quickly and I think at $48.00 – that’s quite a hefty cost to have to replenish the product when you need. The powder comes with a sifter which allows you to really get the right amount of product each time and hopefully eliminate an spill accident, but if you are someone who bakes your makeup often, you may need to buy a new one sooner.
If you are like me and rarely uses a technique like this, this product will last you a long time. It feels great on the skin, like silk and you’ll definitely enjoy it.
Ingredients: Ingredients: Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, Talc, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Silica, Boron Nitride, Hydrogen Dimethicone, Caprylyl Glycol, Squalane, Phenoxyethanol, Aluminum Hydroxide, Hexylene Glycol, Dehydroacetic Acid, Disodium EDTA, Aqua (Water), Pisum Sativum (Pea) Extract, Glucosamine HCL, Bambusa Vulgaris Leaf/Stem Extract May Contain (+/-): CI 77891 (Titanium Dioxide), CI 77492 (Iron Oxides), CI 77491 (Iron Oxides), CI 77742 (Manganese Violet), CI 77499 (Iron Oxides)
Next is The Baking Brush (New Product). There’s not much to say about this brush except I really like it. This brush is perfect for removing powder or applying it to the under eye area because it is so so soft that it will not affect the under eyes with an pulling or tugging. This brush has been specifically designed with soft, dense hairs to allow for easy application of the loose powder as well as the perfect softness to remove the loose powder when your baking is done, leaving your skin looking flawless without “cake face”.
What I also love about this brush is that it is dense enough to pick up and apply any pressed powders and makes a wonderful bronzer brush for contouring or adding definition within the hollows of the cheek area and forehead. I found that I was able to get the perfect bronze with this brush because it blends the products effortlessly. The brush bristles are so soft. I’ve looked all over the website and couldn’t find information on the specific type of bristles the brush was made with, but have been advised by those that have used the brand that they are indeed synthetic brush hairs… which is awesome. It feels so good, you’ll definitely want to use this brush for everything and I have just about tried it on most of the my face products (with exception to foundation) and have enjoyed it. The ferule is very well made, tightly cinched in place and the handle, while it does have weight to it, is not overly heavy but balanced well in my hands. Yes, this brush is a bit costly, but considering the quality I’ve found it to have, I’m beyond impressed with it and I’ll definitely look into other brushes from the Rodial line.
Next in this line up I also tried a few more products from the Dragon’s Blood line. The Dragon’s Blood XXL Lip Plumper was definitely something I was excited to try when I seen it in the box. It’s an interesting product and I do enjoy a good lip plumper so I opened this product first before any of the others.
The Dragon’s Blood XXL Lip Plumper retails for $30.00 and you 3mL / 0.1 fl.oz. of product. Not that much product if you ask me, considering the price point. This lip plumper was designed to nourish your lips while boosting the lips volume instantly. They call it a “moisture-rich plumping miracle worker.” It’s suggested to apply this product twice daily generously to the lips or as often as needed to provide an instant boost of moisture and plumping action. The site also says that you may experience slight tingling sensation on your lips upon your initial application.
So here’s the deal. While I was very excited to see this product in my box when it arrived, after trying this particular one, it’s not my favorite in the bunch. First, getting the product out of the tube took quite a while. To dispense the product, you click the back of the pen like packaging till the product dispenses through the brush tip. Let’s just say that it took me well over 90 presses to get that darn thing to come out. By the time it was slowly making it’s way to the applicator, my fingers and hand was already uncomfortable and tired.
The brush made the product easy to apply, and I really liked that the actual lip product had a tint of color. It’s the perfect type of shade for a natural, everyday glossy look and the product, while just a bit sticky, applied pretty easily. I didn’t find any weird residue left on my lips through out the day and it wasn’t so sticky that I couldn’t purse my lips together after applied. I did find minimum stinging and tingling which was great (considering they use chilli extract as their ingredient for the plumping) and the smell was almost minty and kind of pleasant for me. I will say however, do not taste the stuff, it has an odd taste that really didn’t sit well for me… I’m not sure what it is, but I didn’t like it. It’s not chemical, but a weird mint and herb taste, if that makes any sense. The plumping was definitely instant after application but not abnormal. My lips seemed a fuller without looking weird and the effect was nice. This gloss like plumper does not last a long time, so you may need to reapply after it comes off for optimal effect.
Cautions: Contains chilli extract. In case of discomfort, discontinue use. Avoid contact with eyes. If contact occurs, rinse well with water.
The Dragon’s Blood Velvet Cream was another product I got to test out. Retailing at $85.00 for 50mL / 1.7 fl.oz. worth of product, you get a good size tub of product for the price point. While it is expensive, considering the brand and their products, it’s something you can definitely expect. There’s one thing for sure with Rodial, their product packaging always goes with the particular product line, which I like and the packaging is nice and definitely well made.
This cream is interesting. It’s a rich cream with a texture that kind of reminds me of a whipped body butter. It applies smoothly and evenly and I love how nicely it blends and rubs into the skin. Rodial says that this cream offers a multi-dimensional hydration that leaves the skin feeling deeply nourished and I can definitely agree with that. After apply to my face I felt like my skin got a boost of moisture and I really love the fact that it doesn’t feel heavy and my skin just drinks it in. If you have dry skin like I do, I think you’ll definitely enjoy this cream. I found that using it at night has been best for me my skin feels soft and smooth the next morning. You can definitely use it morning or night – but for me the night use is best, but I have enjoyed using it during the day as well. It doesn’t have a bad scent, but smells oddly like a weird herbal citrus, I can’t quite figure it out. This product is expensive however, so I say if you can splurge, great – you’re skin will surely enjoy it. I also really like the fact that ingredients like Squalane are included so I can eliminate a few other products in my routine when using this cream.
The Rodial Dragon’s Blood Cleansing Water is the last product that I got to try out this time around. Retailing for $36.00 the water includes 200 mL / 6.8 fl.oz. worth of product. The Cleansing Water was designed to remove all traces of makeup and give your skin a burst of freshness while hydrating and soothing your skin. This cleansing water can be used on both the face and the eyes and is formulated with rose water.
Honestly, I have been using cleansing and micellar waters on my eye area now for over a year. I know you shouldn’t but, I do and found that this particular one was quite gentle in that area. My eyes didn’t burn or feel irritated which I liked. Since this is a no-rinse formula, it was perfect to use for cleansing in the morning as well. With ingredients like rose water, vitamin B3 and the Dragon’s Blood – this product is said to soothe sensitive and stressed skin while illuminating and brightening the skin and evening out the skin tone. With some of my favorite ingredients like hyaluronic acid and vitamin B3, I definitely am liking the results of this product. This particular product is perfect on days when it’s hot and my skin feels parched and I love that I can use it day or night and all over my face without any sensitivities or issues. It’s not a sticky liquid, but leaves my skin feeling hydrated so if I had to skip moisturizing for any reason, I know my skin will not be left overly dry after use.
Oh – did I mention how it removed my makeup? My waterproof mascara or brow pencils come off without any issue and I like that my eyes don’t burn at all, of course, if I got the product directly into my eye area – that may be a different story. This is a product I know I’ll for sure continue to buy and use – I could stock up on it because it truly is my favorite out of all the ones I wrote about in this post. I have very sensitive eyes and to find a product that doesn’t burn them, at all – well, yes… I must stock pile that like it’s the zombie apocalypse and I need them all.
Cautions: Avoid getting product directly in the eyes. If direct contact occurs rinse well with water.
Of course, each person’s skin and skin care routine differ and what may work for you – may not necessarily work for me and vice versa. Ultimately, I enjoyed most of the products I tried that I discussed in this post. I have used several products from Rodial over the last year and have enjoyed “most” of them. I do think some of the products can be a bit overpriced, but considering the brand name, you often pay for the brand name and reputation. Many of the ingredients in these products are really nice for the skin. I’ve been using these products now for about a month and I haven’t noticed any sensitivities (I do have sensitive skin) and I can’t say that I’ve experienced any weird breakouts. If I had to suggest at least one product from the five I talked about here today, I definitely think trying the Dragon’s Blood Cleansing Water would be a good one to start with.
So – while this post was a bit “long winded” I wanted to make sure to be able to provide you with as much information that I could so you could decide if this brand or these products would work for you. As I mentioned before, I do have other products that I’ve shared on social media but didn’t quite write about here, and I plan to over the next few weeks (so stay tuned). You can purchase these products at: http://www.rodial.co.uk/us/ – I love that they are available in the US now.
What about you? Have you tried any products from Rodial or any of them that I’ve discussed in this post? Are there any products that you tried that I must get my hands on? Let me know in the comments below.

Oh am I excited to share these gorgeous beauties with all of you. A couple of weeks ago I shared with you the “You Had Me At Aloha” Palette from Cargo Cosmetics (you can read about it here) and I really wanted to share these gorgeous thangs with you then, but decided that the palette truly needed it’s own post devoted strictly to it’s u’i-ness (u’i means beauty in Hawaiian). So, today – I finally get the chance to share with all of you the Swimmables Longwear Eye Shadow Sticks from the New Spring and Summer 2017 Collection.
The Cargo Swimmables Longwear Eye Shadow Sticks retail for $20.00 each pencil. The new Spring and Summer collection for 2017 includes eight gorgeous shades that offer you wearable shades or pops of colors to create your show stopping Spring and Summer looks. These eye shadow sticks basically were created to work well with the You Had Me At Aloha Palette (which is also a part of the same release). These shadow sticks are lightweight, creamy and crease proof. They are water-resistant and offer you high coverage color in a formula that glides the lids or eyes effortlessly. Once the shadow stick is applied, the formula has a 20 second play time to be blended (so work quickly) before it sets. Once it sets, the color stays true and lasts as long as you do. It comes off when you take it off.
I love the longevity and lasting power of these shadow sticks. They work well for me on the the lower lash line, even through my water eyes and allergies. But, while they will last all day and don’t crease on my oily lids, they are still fairly easy to remove when it’s time to come off. The shades are perfect for me to use every day as an all over the lid look or on the go when I need quick color to bring out my brown eyes. No matter the reason, these are perfect and I like that they are creamy enough to use as a base for the shadows in the palette from the collection.
Use these shadow sticks to create an entire eye look and blend easily with a brush or your finger tips. I love using Paradise Bay (turquoise) as a pop of color on the lower lash line. Glacier Bay also makes a great shade to apply to my waterline to help brighten my eyes or to the inner corner of my eyes to make my eyes seem more open and wide.
Considering the long wear and how creamy your shade stick is – you get quite a bit of product which means you’ll be able to create countless looks utilizing the different shades.
Ingredients: Cyclopentasiloxane, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Isododecane, Ozokerite, Dimethicone, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Quaternium-90 Bentonite, Polyethylene, Propylene Carbonate, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Calcium Sodium Borosilicate, Silica, Tin Oxide, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite. May Contain (+/-):mica(Ci 77019),titanium Dioxide(Ci 77891), Iron Oxides(Ci 77499, Ci 77492, Ci 77491), Blue 1 Lake(Ci 42090).
I have had the chance to try out quite a bit of products from Cargo Cosmetics over the year. And, I may sing their praises but I’m always impressed with the products they produce and I’m honestly surprised that Cargo is not talked about as much as they should be. The brand consistently puts out great products and these are definitely no exception. I think any of these shadow sticks (while a bit on the pricier side) give you the option of creating a showstopping glam look or something every day for you to use. The options are endless. Prior to trying any of the shadow sticks from this collection, I have already owned several from a previous collection and have loved and enjoyed them.
You can purchase these and more from http://cargocosmetics.com
How about you? Do you think you could get some use out of these beauties? If so, what color do you have your sites on? If you already own one, or two or more, let me know what colors you love in the comments below.
