When it comes to Max Factor, it’s a brand name I have used back in my teens and one of the first makeup brands I was interested in because of it’s line of fun and funky eye shadow colors.  It’s funny to think that a brand I hadn’t seen in my local stores in about 10 years holds such a place in my memories… but I remember seeing gorgeous eye shadows in the displays as a teenager and it was an impression I hadn’t easily forgotten.  I’m excited to say however, that Max Factor is returning to the United States, offering their Max Factor USA Capsule Collection and for a limited time, you can get your hands on some of these gorgeous beauties.

Working with Pat McGrath, Global Makeup Artist and Design Director, Max Factor released a limited edition capsule collection that includes four fabulous products:  The Masterpiece Max Mascara, Masterpiece High Precision Liquid Eye Liner and two Colour Elixir Lipsticks in Simply Nude 725 and Maroon Dust 735.  This gorgeous collection of treats was released in August (yes, I’m aware that I’m a bit late to the game) and are available to purchase at select Target, Walmart and Walgreens locations (you can also purchase online on Amazon and Drugstore.com for a limited time).  I have just recently started seeing this collection in my local stores as of the end of September, so hopefully it will stick around for my makeup lovers to get their hands on them.

Now, if you are a part of the younger generation of makeup addicts, you may not be familiar with Max Factor or the brand itself.  Let me clear that all up for you…  Max Factor was the original inventor of modern makeup and the very first artist to start his own brand.  The capsule collection that you see here was specifically created to be a limited edition collection to the United States, featuring a select edit of glamour essentials for all beauty lovers.  Since Max Factor didn’t just invent new ways for women to explore and express their glamour, he changed the beauty industry and paved the way for all artists, creators and makers you love and follow today.

Let’s start with the Max Factor Masterpiece Max Mascara ($9.99).  A high volume, high definition mascara that offers high impact volume in one swipe.  The brush for this mascara delivers volume and definition to offer bold and thick lashes.  It’s smudge proof and touch proof and I love that it leaves my lashes feeling soft and feathery.  If you are like me and have very sensitive eyes, I think you’ll enjoy this mascara because it is a great one for that purpose.

“Max Factor, Academy Award Winner and Visionary Make-Up Artist, comes a line of make-up that created the most glamorous looks of Hollywood’s Golden Era.”

Now, I have oober sensitive eyes and my lashes are pretty much hiding from the real world.  Because of this, I tend to wear false lashes as much as I possibly can and I’m very particular with my choice of favorite mascara.  The Masterpiece Max Mascara definitely helped to coat my lashes to add length and I like that the wand is small enough to still grab on to my teenie tiny lash hairs.   I do need to wear it layered with another mascara that offers more volume, but nonetheless, it gets the job done and like I mentioned previously, it works great on my sensitive eyes.

The Masterpiece Precision Liquid Eye Liner ($9.99) is a high precision liquid eye liner.  This liner is said to transform your look with a bold, intense liquid liner that will offer the precision of a pencil.  With Black Velvet formula, this liner glides on smoothly and dries quickly.  This liner was created to allow you to create two glamorous looks from one versatile and unique paddle shaped tip.

“You are not born glamorous, Glamour is created!” – Max Factor

Now, I’ve tried a liquid liner from another Drugstore brand similar to this one before and in all honesty, it’s a liner I consistently have used over the last year or so.  So, I wouldn’t call this “unique” since another brand has similar on the market.  I do however, enjoy the formulation of this liner.  If you are looking for bold and black color, you’ll definitely have that here.  The liquid dries really fast, which is always a great thing.  And, I love that you have the option of going thick or thin just by the flick of the wrist to create the look you desire.

Max Factor, cosmetics, cult favorites, makeup artist, makeup, beauty, swatches, review, product review, beauty review, swatches,

Since I’ve used another eye liner like this one before, I’m quite familiar with how to manipulate the liner to create the looks I want, but I can totally tell you that if you haven’t used anything like this, it may take a bit of getting used to, to get this to work in your favor… unless you are just a pro at getting things down.  If you are looking for a liner that can offer you bold and deep color, I think you’ll enjoy this a lot.  Start with a thin line and carve out your wing or your liner and then turn the liner on the side to color in the gaps… that’s the best way I can explain it to work for you if you are struggling.

Max Factor, cosmetics, cult favorites, makeup artist, makeup, beauty, swatches, review, product review, beauty review, swatches,

While this is a pen liner, it has a very liquid like consistency, so a light hand is best when applying it.  It dries quickly, but that also means you will need to work pretty fast.  The bold color can give you all day wear, which is great, but that also means that if it does start to move on you, it will be so noticeable because the color is so bold.  While I didn’t notice much smudging or running of the product on my eyes – I can say that if you tear up – it will move on you… so I reserve this liner for days that my allergies are not crazy on me.

The Max Factor Colour Elixir Lipsticks ($13.99 retail – prices vary at different locations) in Maroon Dust and Simply Nude are probably my favorite in this collection of treats from Max Factor.  Let’s face it, I have more lipsticks than any one person should own, but it’s one of my favorite makeup products to have.  These lippies are said to have the same formulation as their original ones but have slightly different packaging from what we had seen from Max Factor before. I actually like the gold packaging, it gives the product a luxe feel.  These lipsticks are said to have “active moisturizing ingredients” to help transform your lips into looking luscious and full as well as giving you that look of smooth, plump and soft lips.  These colors are said to be complimentary, which I actually like since I know I can get use out of each shade.  Maroon Dust reminds me of a nude Terracotta like shade that is perfect for Fall (or year round) and Simply Nude is a gorgeous nude shade you can use daily or year round.  Each of these lippies are quite comfortable on the lips and have a pretty decent wear time.  With eating or drinking, I definitely need to touch up – but considering these are creamy, I still get about 3-4 hours of wear time.  If you tend to have drier lips, I highly suggest exfoliating (sugar scrub or a toothbrush) because these are so creamy they can really exaggerate the lip lines.

Max Factor, cosmetics, cult favorites, makeup artist, makeup, beauty, swatches, review, product review, beauty review, swatches,

I also think these are quite expensive, even for a roll out of new products – they are still pretty up there in the Drugstore cost range.  If these are too much for you – I would go for Milani Color Statement lipsticks (nude cream being one of old school favorites and a similar shade to Simply Nude).  I’m sure if I look through my vast Milani lipstick collection I’ll find a dupe for Maroon Dust.  Don’t get me wrong, these are gorgeous lippies, but at the cost point, I’m not sure I would gravitate towards purchasing them if I hadn’t tried the formulation out first.  I have however, been getting a lot of use out of both of these shades and I think they look great with Spice Lip liner from Milani.

Max Factor, cosmetics, cult favorites, makeup artist, makeup, beauty, swatches, review, product review, beauty review, swatches,

I’m absolutely ecstatic that I had the opportunity to try this capsule collection.  Let’s be honest here for a moment, there are some brands that I will always remember and will have a place in my heart as those that I have loved at first look.  Max Factor is definitely one of those brands.  I would love to see the entire line make a come back to the United States, but I’m definitely happy that I was able to reminisce of my teenage years with a brand I enjoyed.  Who knows, we may see this brand pop up more in the coming years.

Have you tried anything from this collection?  If so, what was  your favorite?  If not, do you remember Max Factor and seeing it in your local stores?

I talked about this in a recent post, stating that I was excited to share with all of you my thoughts on the Land Down Under Eye Shadow Palette by Cargo Cosmetics.  Today is the day and I’m really stoked to be sharing.  I had been swooning over this palette for a little while since I seen it’s release and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it.  Cargo Cosmetics is not a brand you hear about very often, while it’s popular – it’s not a “Cult Favorite” as other brands and I’m not sure why.  When it comes to their eye shadow palettes, you get a great deal and beautiful product for showstopping looks.  Today I’ll be sharing with you swatches and more on this palette and maybe it’s something you may want to pick up.  Cargo is also running a sale today “Friends & Family” so head on over and see if you want to add this baby to your makeup arsenal.

The Cargo Cosmetics Land Down Under Eye Shadow Palette retails for $34.00 but is currently on sale for $27.20.  It includes 12 gorgeous eye shadows (net wt each shadow: 0.03 oz / 0.8g), a mirror which is built into the palette, a pencil eyeliner in black (net wt. 1.13 oz) and a dual ended eye shadow brush.  This palette was inspired by the fabled sights and beaches of Australia and includes a variety of sunburnt browns, golds and tones that flatter all skin-tones.  You have some cool toned shades in ocean-hued blues and a gorgeous bright foliage green which adds a great pop of color.  This palette is the perfect summer palette but I can see utilizing this all year round.

Each palette includes a combination of 5 matte shades and 7 shimmer shades.  Each shade is quite pigmented with exception to Sand.  It has nice color pigment but shows up best on a sticky base.  I noticed with swatching the color on it’s own, it needs to be built up, but applied to the lid, it actually provides nice color pay off.  If you are looking for a shadow for every day use that offers some shimmer, I think you’ll enjoy that particular shade.  The palette provides you with Paraben-Free formulas which is a huge plus as well.

The actual palette / packaging is gorgeous.  You have a white iridescent cover that has a gold/green shift when you turn the palette different directions.  It’s not very noticeable, but it’s something you can definitely see that gives the palette character and matches with the overall theme.  On the cover you have Cargo’s logo in a metallic teal (which immediately won my heart over) – it’s gorgeous.  The package reminds me of that you would get from any of their other palettes, sturdy but made of a thick cardboard.  It’s simple but still very nice.

The dual-ended eye shadow brush is really really nice.  I love when a palette comes with a brush that is really versatile and that can be used.  It’s worth the space in my opinion.  It comes with a fluffy blending brush that you can use to also pack on color and a tapered pencil brush for smudging eye shadows or applying in precise areas on the eyes.  The black eye liner pencil is sharpenable and it’s quite creamy.  It’s a gorgeous black that is easy to apply and easy to smudge for a beautiful eye look.

Please be sure to stop by my video review and check out my live swatches.  I didn’t get a chance to take a photo of me wearing the eye shadow, but I’m using this palette in that look I’m rocking on my eyes.  This palette is completely versatile.  Some of my favorite shades in t he palette include:  Koala (the perfect transition or crease shade), The Rocks (a gorgeous crease shade), Bridge (my absolute favorite from the palette) and Domain (a beautiful lid shade that’s also a perfect lower lash line color).  I think you simply can’t beat the price point of this palette and now that it is on sale and with a Friends & Family discount, there’s no reason not to pick it up.  It’s a palette that I think would make a great addition to any makeup lovers collection and the shades are not as bold as you might think.

Have you tried any of the Cargo Eye Shadow Palettes before?  If so, which one have you tried and what are your thoughts on them?  Do you think Cargo deserves more hype & love like other brands?  I surely do!

You can purchase this palette and much more at: http://www.cargocosmetics.com/.  Be sure to head on over to take advantage of the Friends & Family sale that’s running now till 8/21.  Get 25% off your purchase.

A year or so ago I was introduced to deVine Beauty in an Ipsy bag and have been intrigued with their products so naturally when they reached out to me to test a few I was definitely excited.  Who wouldn’t be excited to try something that is all natural and has anti-aging benefits packed into a lip balm?  Capturing the magic of Red Wine Grape, deVine offers a variety of lip products that have antioxidants to help promote healing while offering delectible scents, colors and flavors to leave your lips feeling soft and beautiful.  deVine Beauty also offers skin care products like body lotions and hand creams, bar soap and more.

With Resveratrol, Grapeseed Oil and Red Wine Antioxidants to help promote healing, the deVine lip products come in a variety of colors and flavors and offer you great products that are made in the USA.  Each item is hand-picked and packed from Westmont, Illinois.  The company believes in women, wine & everything deVine and strives to offer you a delectable elixir of products for women (and men) to enjoy.  I had the opportunity to try out three different products from deVine:  The Rose Glycerin Bar Soap $6.95 each (4 oz.), deVine Lip Shimmers $6.00 and Sangria Lip Shades with SPF 15 $4.00.

The Rose Glycerin Bar Soap is a nice Glycerin bar that leaves your skin feeling moisturized and soft.  I enjoy using this during my morning shower to help awaken my senses and really just soften my skin to prep for my day.  It has a light hint of rose fragrance, not strong enough to cause my allergies to go crazy, but still fragrant enough so that I can smell the sweet scent.  I really like this soap and overall I think it’s something worth checking out.

The deVine Lip Shimmers are a nice addition to my lip balm collection.  I got them in Bordeaux and Cabernet.  Each lippy has a light hint of color, offering your lips sheer color for when you’re on the go and want a little something extra.  I like that they are hydrating and since I have tried these before via my Ipsy bag a year or so ago, I think my opinion on them are still the same.  They leave my lips feeling nice and soft but I love the hint of color they offer.  They have a light scent and taste to them, but not enough for me to pin point a particular flavor or fragrance.  I’m quite amazed with the color they offer and since I don’t use makeup daily, these make great additions to my every day look and really perk up my lips.

deVine beauty, deVine, lips, lip balm, reservatrol, review, beauty, makeup, lips, beauty review, swatches, antioxidants, anti-aging,

The Sangria Lip Shades with SPF 15 are colorless but I really like the flavor of these.  They are what I throw in my purse on a daily basis to use along side some of my favorite lip balms.  They not only offer that SPF products that I love, but they are so handy to have and easy to take on the go.  Though they don’t offer any lip color, these are perfect to use beneath your favorite lip shades to give you that extra protection your pout needs, especially during the summer months.

Sadly, I couldn’t find the full list of ingredients on their website, but overall I do enjoy the anti-aging benefits and ingredients I do know about.  I have noticed with the lip products that my lips feel softer and take on lip color very nicely and evenly since I’ve been using these products.  My lips seem to love them and while they are not my only lip balm I use, I do reach for these often and especially the deVine Lip Shimmers on days when I am not wanting any makeup but need a little color to my lips.

deVine beauty, deVine, lips, lip balm, reservatrol, review, beauty, makeup, lips, beauty review, swatches, antioxidants, anti-aging,

If you are looking for something that is reasonably priced that offer ingredients that are good for you – I definitely suggest checking these out.  A lip product that offers Resveratrol and red wine antioxidants is surely something I don’t mind using on my lips.  I love that my lips feel plumper, look less stressed and aged and feel nice and soft thanks to the great ingredient of Resveratrol in these lippies.  The bar of soap is definitely a great thing and I look forward to trying some of the other body care products available from deVine Shimmer soon.

What about you, have you heard of or tried anything from deVine beauty before?  If so, what have you tried and if not – what do you think about this brand offering you the benefits of wine?

Almost two months ago, I posted about a set of matte liquid lipsticks on Snapchat and everyone was excited to hear about it.  It’s been a while since then and I have finally had the chance to get through the whole set of goodies to share with all of you.  Matte lipsticks are so popular now a days and there are so many types and colors from different brands.  Today I share with you these gorgeous lippies from BHüe Beauty.  BHüe is a line of crowd-sourced beauty products that are formulated to enhance your natural beauty so you can stand out in a room.  Let’s take a look at these gorgeous shades, shall we?

BHüe offers Liquid Matte Lipsticks in 7 gorgeous shades to suit any skin tone or personality.  Each Matte Liquid Lipstick retails for $18.00 which is a pretty hefty cost in my opinion for the amount of product you receive in each tube of lipstick.  I was unable to find the actual amount per product, but each tube seems to be about 1/2 the amount of product than a regular liquid lipstick that you see on the market today.

bhue beauty, bhue, liquid lipsticks, liquid lip creams, lips, lip cream, matte liquid lipstick, matte lipstick, liquid lips, beauty, makeup, lip swatches, lipstick, makeup, beauty,

Each liquid lipstick comes with a doe foot applicator and I love the packaging.  It is simplistic but perfect for travel or tossing into your purse.  I also love the fact that each name is labeled at the bottom of the tube and these are really the type of liquid lipsticks that you can easily finish if you find a color you love.  I think that while they are a little high in cost for the amount, packaging and product quality would be worth the cost if there was a bit more product.

These liquid lipsticks are very pigmented and offer bright and bold colors on the lips with one swipe.  They apply like a liquid cream lipstick or lip cream so they feel comfortable on the lips.  While they do not completely set down (they are not tacky but do not dry down to a harsh dry finish), they are long lasting and water-resistant.  I especially just love the fact that I can wear them with hours without my lips feeling cracked or so dry that they hurt.  I remove them with a makeup remover wipe or with a little coconut oil and they come off easily.  There is slight transfer when eating and drinking – but still last and offer a moisturizing feel on the lips without my lips hurting.

The liquid lipstick formula is infused with Vitamin E to ensure your lips will feel moisturized all day – no matter the color you choose.  I highly suggest you line your lips with a transparent lip liner or one that is similar in shade to the liquid lipstick you have, but it is not necessary or required – I’m just a creature of habit.

I also got to try BHüe’s Tinted Lip Balm in Chameleon Pink which retails for $17.  This fun lip balm comes in a slider rectangular tin and is strawberry scented.  It’s a completely clear jelly lip balm that leaves my lips moisturized and gradually creates a soft rosy pink sheen on the lips giving me a fresh-faced look, perfect for summer.  You can apply it to your lips with your fingers or use the travel lip brush that’s included for precise application.  I love this thing… it has made my June favorites because it leaves my lips moisturized and creates a pretty hue for me to rock out this summer.

Oh – a little tip, the more you press and smack your lips, the more pink the formula becomes.  I tend to press my lips together a lot, so sometimes my lips can turn to a really bright pink where as other times, well – they will just be a soft “your lips but better” kind of pink.

The tinted lip balm contains avocado and macadamia oil that will keep your lips hydrated. Once in contact with your lips, the formula will change from clear to pink.  My lips feel hydrated and moisturized all day long when I wear this tinted lip balm on its own.  Packaging makes it easy to apply and I love that it includes a little lip brush for application.  I do not suggest using this lip balm on your lips prior to applying the matte liquid lipsticks without blotting your lips first, otherwise the lipsticks will move all over on your lips and create a mess.

BHüe is a cosmetic brand for those who blend their makeup – but refuse to blend into the crowd.  They offer cool products for those who want to compliment being their best with looking best.  They say… “It’s not about contouring, but about confidence.”

“BHüe’s manifesto is to be fearless. Be bold. Be the best version of yourself. BHüe.”

I’ve absolutely enjoyed trying out these lip products over the last two months and have really enjoyed mixing them with my eye looks and creating fun and bold lips for summer.  I love that the range of shades they have available make great ones for any time of the year and they will certainly go well for any skin tone.  I do enjoy a great liquid lipstick, but I think what I love the most about these is that they are so comfortable on the lips – that I can wear them all day, remove them and my lips still feel soft.  They can leave behind a bit of a stain with some of the shades, but overall – I’m impressed.  I mentioned the price being a bit high for my liking, but considering it is a crowd-sourced brand, I understand the reasoning behind the cost.  I can’t say I would purchase these at full price, but I can’t say I wouldn’t either.  The colors are gorgeous, super pigmented and I do enjoy them and those that know me or read this blog, know that if I really enjoy something – I may change my mind and purchase it later even if I said I wouldn’t.

The lip balm – definitely a favorite of mine and one I enjoy.  I have gotten a lot of use out of this product and I know it’s something I would buy again, knowing how great my lips feel and how cool the colors change on my lips.  This lip balm is functional for me, especially during the summer when I don’t use much but makeup and lip balm anyway.  It keeps my lips soft and moisturized all day long with is a HUGE plus in my book.

BHüe is a small company and I haven’t seen a huge buzz around the brand or their products as of yet, but I do think that they have a great product that will turn heads.  The quality of these lip products definitely warrant the price tag and my lips just absolutely enjoy how they feel on.  Have you heard of BHüe before?  If so, what are your thoughts on the company?  If not, do you think this is something you would want to check out?  What do you think about the price?  Comment below and let me know.
