If there is one thing I absolutely love when it comes to brands and products, it’s when a brand I have used for years bring something new to the table. BioSilk is a brand I’ve used for over 20 years, first being introduced to them in 1996. The original Silk Therapy was recommended to me when I was in high school and needed to tame and moisturize my crazy curly hair. Now, years later, I was given the opportunity to try out the BioSilk Silk Therapy with Organic Coconut Oil. And, today – I am sharing all of my thoughts on these products with all of you.
BioSilk Silk Therapy with Organic Coconut Oil: Just like the BioSilk Silk Therapy, the Silk Therapy with Organic Coconut Oil is a Leave-In treatment that can be used for both hair and skin. BioSilk says that this light-weight leave-in treatment offers superior moisture replenishment while fortifying weak strands. It helps to control frizz and flyaways while preventing split ends for smooth results with incredible shine. For the skin, it can be used as a light moisturizing oil to relieve dry skin leaving it soft and smooth with a subtle glow.
After using this product for several weeks, I have absolutely been loving it as much as I love the original. If you have ever tried the BioSilk Silk Therapy products, you will know exactly how they feel. They have slip like regular oils but they leave your hair feeling moisturized without the heavy oily feel. The Silk Therapy with organic coconut oil soaks into the skin and leaves it soft and definitely moisturized. My hair just drinks it up and I love it.
Retail: $26.80 (5.64 oz)
Silk Therapy with Organic Coconut Oil 3-in-1: I am not one to gravitate to a 3-in-1 (shampoo, conditioner and bodywash), but I think they are definitely something perfect for travel or for those that don’t want all the product clutter. This versatile and gentle cleanser not only removes the impurities from the body and hair, but it adds essential moisture to the hair and skin. This 3-in-1 conditions while providing balanced care for the hair and skin and I love that it also helps to maintain and preserve your hair color. Hair and skin is left soft, smooth and nourished.
A 3-in-1 is definitely a time saver and so far I’ve been enjoying this product. It leaves my hair feeling soft and my body too.
Retail: $10.40 (5.64 oz)
As I mentioned before, I love when a brand re-invents or does something different to their products and it works. Adding organic coconut oil definitely added great benefits to their original products and I’ve been absolutely loving them. Honestly, these products can be a bit costly, but I think they offer such a great range of solutions for all hair types and it’s worth checking it out soon.
Have you had the chance to try out this new Organic Coconut Oil line from BioSilk? If not, have you tried the original Silk Therapy line and if you have, what do you think?

Today I’m excited to finally bring you my thoughts on a few skin care products from ZenMed. I have had these products in my possession now for about 2 months (or more) and I am happy to say that I can finally discuss my results with all of you.
As many of you know, I have started to really live my life differently. Daily workouts and exercise and cutting out things like rice and soda from my diet (eating healthier in general) have been a part of my norm the last two months. Because of this, trying out new skin care has been a huge challenge. As your body starts to really purge the junk stuff from your system, sometimes your skin can get really good quickly or completely freak out. For me, it freaked out and really went bonkers with some of my skin care products. So, it took longer to try out products that I would normally be able to experience results with within a month or so. That’s why it took me so long to get this post up – I wanted to make sure it was not the product that caused my eczema flare up.
With that being said – let’s talk about ZenMed. ZenMed offers a plethora of products that they call: Reconstructive Skincare. It’s basically a product line that offers support to your skin. They claim that you can get healthier skin when following their pH balanced cleansing and moisturizing regime. I had the opportunity to try four different products from the line and I’m going to share my thoughts on each of them with you.
The Gentle Cleansing Cream is a light cleansing cream that feels really nice on the skin when applying. You apply this product to your wet face using circular motions. Once done, rinse it off with warm water and pat your skin dry. This cleanser is gentle enough to be used on your skin twice a day – though I only use it once a day at night. This cleanser removes impurities from your skin and leaves your face feeling refreshed. No irritations or over-drying which is great for my sensitive skin. This product is vegetarian formulated so that it leaves your skin clean without stripping it of your vital oils. The formulation is pH balanced and preserves your natural pH so your skin is left feeling soothed and nourished. ZenMed states that this is a product that is ideal for Rosacea sufferers. I love how soft my skin feels but it is left hydrated and clean when I’m done cleansing with this product.
ZenMed’s Anti-Redness Mask is next on the list. This is a pretty cool product because ZenMed says that this is ideal for minimizing the after-effects of a sunburn since it contains Certified Organic Aloe Vera Gel. The Anti-Redness mask has a very effective anti-inflammatory agent included called Willow Bark Extract. The ingredient has long been know to provide anti-irritant and anti-redness effects to sensitive skin. It’s soothing and non-comedogenic using Green Tea and Cucumber to offer a quick solution for getting redness out of the skin and fast. This product can even be used on sensitive areas like eyelids to help calm the skin.
I have been enjoying all of the products I’ve tried, but the Anti-Redness Mask still intrigues me. When you use it, your skin feels immediately cooled and calm. I find that this is one of my favorites for soothing my dry skin from the colder months. I noticed that the redness around my nose and on my cheeks are not there as much as they normally would be.
Oil-Free Moisturizer with SPF 30 – Well, I honestly wasn’t sure if I would like this product once I squeezed it out of the tube. Here’s the deal, when something says “lightweight and sheer formula”, I kind of expect it to be as such. But squeezing it out of the tube, it seemed to be a bit thick. But, I was relieved when it smoothed onto my skin quickly and felt like it was lightweight on. Looks can be deceiving (that’s for sure). This product is lightweight and sheer on the face. It’s oil-free with an SPF of 30 which is awesome, but it does leave your skin looking a bit dewy. But, that didn’t bother me one bit, since I really liked that it was gentle on my skin and super easy to apply. This cream absorbs quickly which I love so it’s also recommended for use under concealers or foundations (which I don’t really use). I love that I can use it on its own. I LOVE that it has sunscreen in it so it’s great for days like today when I need to run out of the house.
Like other products I’ve tried from ZenMed, this moisturizer has Green Tea and Certified Organic Aloe Vera which helps to calm the skin and moisturize.
For those interested in the type of sunscreen formulated into this product – here are the Active Ingredients: Avobenzone 1.5%, Octinoxate 7.5%, Octisalate 5%, Oxybenzone 5.5%., Purified Water, Vegetable Glycerin, Octyl Palmitate, Green Tea Extract, Certified Organic Aloe Vera Juice, Glyceryl Stearate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Stearic Acid, Methyl Gluceth-20, C15-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Cetyl Phosphate, Vitamins A, B5, D, & E, Phenoxyethanol, Propylene Glycol, Allantoin, TEA-Carbomer, Ethyl Hexyl Glycerin
The Organic Cream Exfoliator is free of parabens, abrasive particles, soap, oil and animal testing. This product was formulated and created to help oxygenate and revive the most sensitive skin types. This exfoliator utilizes rounded jojoba microspheres that work to help scrub and get rid of the surface of dead skin cell build-up while allowing for maximum penetration of your skin serums and moisturizers. It helps to visibly smooth and refine your skin’s texture.
I am very picky about the type of exfoliators I use and I was amazed at how much I enjoyed this one. The product is very creamy based but as you work it onto the skin, the jojoba microspheres massage and exfoliate the skin. This product can be used daily, though I only use it on my face once a week because while it’s gentle, I think it’s too much for me to use more than that. After the first use, I noticed my skin was definitely softer and smoother and I noticed a big difference in the texture of my skin after using it the last month.
Overall, I continue to use the ZenMed products I was sent to try as a part of my skincare regimen. I use it in combination with other products from other brands that I love and enjoy. The Skin Support products for Dry Skin have been a great addition to my skincare routine and while they aren’t particularly drugstore priced, they are reasonable in cost and fairly affordable in comparison to other products I’ve tried before.
I’m not quite sure yet if I will be continuing the use of these products once I run out of my current stash, but I definitely have some favorites. The Anti-Redness Mask and Oil-Free Moisturizer with SPF 30 have been some of my go-tos lately, so I may continue using them. I also hope to purchase the Support Serum and Nutrient Boost Spray to try out for myself, so if I do – I’ll be sure to share my thoughts with all of you.
Have you heard of ZenMed before? If so, comment below and tell me what you think. If not, are there any products I’ve tried that you may be interested in?

Oh, how I love Fall and Winter seasons. For me, this time of the year means that our Hawaii weather takes a chill pill a bit, but it also means that I tend to take my hair from brown to semi-bold. This year I was excited to go purple but realized that I hadn’t gotten much sun exposure over the summer months so my natural highlights were non-existent. Basically, that meant that the purple color would not be as vibrant on my darker brown hair. To help fix my dilemma (I know, first world problems here), I decided to turn to an old favorite, SunIn. How does SunIn help with my problem, you say? Well, read on to get all the details.
So, my normal hairdresser said that in order for the purple color to show up on my hair (which happened to be darker brown at the moment), I needed to bleach my hair. Seriously, who has time for a bleach job when I want to be out enjoying the cooler weather? Also, I just couldn’t see dealing with the damage since I hadn’t used bleach on my hair in over 5 years. So, I decided to turn to a product I haven’t used in years – but one that saved the day when I was in my teens – SunIn. SunIn has been around since the 70s and my mom and I used it consistently in the 80s. I remember spraying it into my hair before heading out to the beach and by the end of the day, well… my hair had beautiful highlights or sunkissed color. So, to lighten up my hair quickly so that my purple color would take, I thought… Yes, SunIn to the rescue.
While my purple hair is temporary and washes out, SunIn is one of those products that are tried and true – definitely NOT temporary. It’s like having sunshine for your hair… well, sort of. This spray lightener is heat activated (not just sun-activated) so you can lighten your locks with a hair dryer – making it ideal for the colder months. SunIn is one of those products that will help lighten your hair and brighten blonde to medium brown hair ALL YEAR ROUND. It’s easy to use, fast and there’s no need to wave a magic wand to get this trick to work – I promise.
SunIn gives you the same natural highlights that you would get from the sun (think babies or children – how their natural blonds baby hair sparkle in the sunshine) only faster. SunIn has an advanced conditioning system that includes botanical extracts and special illuminators that give hair that extra dose of shine. It’s alcohol-free and conditions the hair while it lightens it. Did I mention you didn’t need the “sun” to get the results you want? SunIn works with your hair dryer and is quick and painless. What I love about it is that I don’t have to worry about my scalp burning from having bleach on my hair for hours on end and my hair loves it.
I love that SunIn is so easily available to purchase (as it always has been). I can simply walk into my local Walmart or skip the drive and order it online and I get it when I need it. Furthermore, the product smells great. The lemon scent reminds me of summer and freshness – no yucky chemical smells here.
When it comes to products that I know I can count on, SunIn is definitely the one. I talked to my mom about my hair dilemma a few weeks before I used SunIn and giggled when she told me… “Hey, do you remember SunIn? Just go pick up a bottle and you’re good!” Ha ha! Even mom remembered and she ran out to the store to spruce up her hair too.
So, how about you? Do you love your natural highlights from summer to last you year round? Or, are you looking to add some bold color to your hair and need to lighten your hair up a bit first? If so, check out SunIn. At a great deal and no need to visit the salon, I think this product would be a great hit for you too.

As a mom of three boys, I find myself doing the best I can to ensure they get everything they need, while I tend to cut corners on personal things for me. Let’s take, say… Specialty Tea for example. I buy the cheaper stuff so the boys can get the things they want and need. Honestly, after doing it for so long, I kind of forget that I’m even doing so. With the boys back to school, I realized that I needed to take the extra few minutes to pamper myself a little more. Whether that means that I’m able to spritz on a little perfume before running out the door, combing my hair before I leave the house, or just getting some great teeth cleaning without feeling the need to rush. I think there is definitely room for me in this equation of busy days. So, I figured I would start small, like selecting a toothpaste and floss that would give me that “fresh and clean” feel while also providing me with the confidence and bright smile when I need that little beauty pick me up. Today, I introduce you to Rembrandt and Plackers.
I’m sure most if not all of you have heard of these two brands. It’s been years since I’ve used Rembrandt toothpaste, but I use Plackers consistently to floss my teeth and they are the perfect little tool to take with you on the go. It may seem like toothpaste and dental floss are not the “treat yourself” kind of package, but to me… knowing that I can remove stains, restore my enamel, get whiter teeth and clean between my gums, all without having to take more than a couple of minutes out of my day… well, that make me a Happy Honey.
Rembrandt products are found at most stores and are reasonably priced. The Rembrandt Deeply White + Peroxide Toothpaste has helped to whiten my smile and doing so all from the inside out. It helps to restore my teeth enamel and is specially formulated with a rapid-release peroxide ingredient that starts working immediately on contact for visibly whiter teeth. As someone who photographed weddings in the past, I can tell you that this is definitely a toothpaste worth looking into prior to your big day to show off your pearly whites. And as a busy mom, I love that this works quickly so that I don’t have to sit there and fuss with trays and gels and all that other stuff. I still have all that time I can use to spend with my sons.
Rapid-release peroxide starts working on contact to visibly whiten deep stains inside teeth
Fresh mint whitening toothpaste leaves your mouth feeling clean and invigorated
Sodium fluoride strengthens teeth by restoring tooth enamel
The Rembrandt Intense Stain Toothpaste has also been a must-have for me lately. While I don’t drink coffee any longer I find that I still have the remnants of stains left behind on my teeth. This particular toothpaste polishes away stains while whitening your teeth. It’s the perfect daily use teeth whitening toothpaste and is formulated to remove tough stains while actively restoring and strengthening the tooth enamel.
Micro-polishers help to remove surface stains while tetrapotassium pyrophosphate helps prevent future buildup
Special formula fights tough stains like red wine, berries, coffee and tobacco
Removes and prevents stains while restoring tooth enamel
Of course, great teeth not only come with awesome toothpaste but a great floss. The Plackers Micro Mint Flossers are just the thing to easily remove food particles between your teeth. Plackers Micro Mint Flossers come in a cool mint flavor and give you an immediate fresh feeling while allowing you to keep your smile clean and bright.
The flossers are made with Super TufFloss that doesn’t stretch, shred or snap and the pick is protected and can be folded away when not in use. This is my go-to floss to take on the go because it fits easily into my purse with my other “on-the-go” items and I don’t have to worry about poking myself when reaching into my bag.
Retail: Between $4.00 – $8.00 depending on the quantity in the package and where you buy it from.
Whether you are looking for a new selection of dental products like tooth paste or floss or just want to try something different, I definitely suggest checking out Rembrandt and Plackers. They are the perfect treats for your smile and can be found at most stores at reasonable and affordable costs. So, how about you, do you have a favorite toothpaste or floss? Have you tried any of these that I mentioned before and if so, what are your thoughts?

About two months ago I received a fun package in the mail. In the package was the Sleep Styler in Large. Let’s just say I was super excited and couldn’t wait to try it out. She Sleep Styler was featured and backed by Lori Greiner from ABC’s hit show, Shark Tank. Now, I watch Shark Tank so you can only imagine how gitty I was to try another product from Shark Tank once again. What made me more excited to try this out, is that I actually watched this episode of Shark Tank when The Sleep Styler was featured and I was definitely swooning over the product before it landed at my door step.
The Sleep Styler was invented by Tara Brown. As a mother who also worked, her goal was to be able to cut down the drying time and styling time for her hair so her routine wouldn’t be as lengthy. The Sleep Styler curls your hair while you sleep and helps to save an hour of styling time. You can achieve beautiful styles with effortless work and it’s perfect for heat free styling. Each roller is marshmallow soft with a memory-foam core that makes it comfortable to sleep in and each microfiber material holds 4-5 times its weight in water, drying the hair super fast.
If you’ve been reading my blog or stopping by now and then, you know that I have naturally curly hair. My curl pattern ranges between a 2c 3a and on a good day, 3a 3b if I have been caring for my hair properly. It’s taken me a while to get my hair back to where I want it and I’ve finally embraced my curls, but that also means that I try to use as little heat on my hair as possible. I really became excited about this product when I find out that it was a hair styling system that not only saves time and money, but it doesn’t cause any damage to the hair.
Using this product means that I truly need to take my time learning how to use it. The first time I used it, I tried to take my curls and make them straight. My hair at the time was past my buttocks in length and it was near to impossible to get all of my hair onto two of the rollers (stacked on each other). I had parts of my hair (my lengths) that looked straight, while other parts still had curl and frizz.
After trying that and knowing that I just couldn’t make it work with my long hair, I figured I would test out the curly method. Large barrel and voluminous curls are great for that glam and beachy look so I figured I would test it out and see how it worked for me.
It was interesting and you can see me put on the rollers in this video demo here.
Putting the Sleep Styler in my long hair was a challenge, but I love that the product itself is lightweight. The rollers are really soft and while I struggled to sleep with it the first time I used it to curl my hair, I tried it again and it worked well (so long as I didn’t use my CPAP mask). I also cut off about 7 inches from my hair last week and found it to be much easier than when I tried to curl my hair with it originally.
As you can see from the photo above, it left my curls quite smooth and larger in size from my smaller and tighter natural curls. I loved that it locked in the fragrance I had on my hair from shampoo and conditioner and my hair was left shiny and had a lot less frizz. The Sleep Styler’s 100% micro fiber materials absorbed the moisture in my hair while remaining dry to the touch and it is perfect for bombshell curls that are voluminous and full.
While the longer rollers are meant for long hair, I did notice that it still left the hair near the crown of my head a bit bare. I used one and a half packages of rollers on my hair but felt like I could have used it differently or used some of the small rollers on the top of my head for maximum coverage.
Overall, I think the product is genius. I have been using it on nights when I just don’t have the time to let my hair sit and dry naturally. It’s been awesome just for drying my hair, but it also works really nicely to help smooth out my hair length so it’s not as frizzy. When I want an easy style without the fuss, I will use this to help with a no mess, no heat look. I’ve been using this product now for about two months (the video demo was filmed about 3 weeks ago) and have found what works and what doesn’t. Of course, I can’t use my CPAP mask on nights I have the Sleep Styler in, but I find that I can still get lots of use out of this product and I’ve been enjoying it so far. I think my nieces would love this as well as my sisters and it’s perfect for those who are always on the go.
Head on over to my demo here or check out the video embedded for a look at how I put on this product to create curls for the first time. Plus, I get real with all of you as we chit chat about how it worked for me.
You can check out all the details on this product and purchase your own at https://www.thesleepstyler.com
Have you checked out or tried the Sleep Styler before? If so, what are your thoughts? If not, do you think this may be something you’ll sneak a peak at?
