As a mom of three boys, I find myself doing the best I can to ensure they get everything they need, while I tend to cut corners on personal things for me.  Let’s take, say… Specialty Tea for example.  I buy the cheaper stuff so the boys can get the things they want and need.  Honestly, after doing it for so long, I kind of forget that I’m even doing so.  With the boys back to school, I realized that I needed to take the extra few minutes to pamper myself a little more.  Whether that means that I’m able to spritz on a little perfume before running out the door, combing my hair before I leave the house, or just getting some great teeth cleaning without feeling the need to rush.  I think there is definitely room for me in this equation of busy days.  So, I figured I would start small, like selecting a toothpaste and floss that would give me that “fresh and clean” feel while also providing me with the confidence and bright smile when I need that little beauty pick me up.  Today, I introduce you to Rembrandt and Plackers.

I’m sure most if not all of you have heard of these two brands.  It’s been years since I’ve used Rembrandt toothpaste, but I use Plackers consistently to floss my teeth and they are the perfect little tool to take with you on the go.  It may seem like toothpaste and dental floss are not the “treat yourself” kind of package, but to me… knowing that I can remove stains, restore my enamel, get whiter teeth and clean between my gums, all without having to take more than a couple of minutes out of my day… well, that make me a Happy Honey.

Rembrandt products are found at most stores and are reasonably priced.  The Rembrandt Deeply White + Peroxide Toothpaste has helped to whiten my smile and doing so all from the inside out.  It helps to restore my teeth enamel and is specially formulated with a rapid-release peroxide ingredient that starts working immediately on contact for visibly whiter teeth.  As someone who photographed weddings in the past, I can tell you that this is definitely a toothpaste worth looking into prior to your big day to show off your pearly whites.  And as a busy mom, I love that this works quickly so that I don’t have to sit there and fuss with trays and gels and all that other stuff.  I still have all that time I can use to spend with my sons.

About two months ago I received a fun package in the mail.  In the package was the Sleep Styler in Large.  Let’s just say I was super excited and couldn’t wait to try it out.  She Sleep Styler was featured and backed by Lori Greiner from ABC’s hit show, Shark Tank.  Now, I watch Shark Tank so you can only imagine how gitty I was to try another product from Shark Tank once again.  What made me more excited to try this out, is that I actually watched this episode of Shark Tank when The Sleep Styler was featured and I was definitely swooning over the product before it landed at my door step.

The Sleep Styler was invented by Tara Brown.  As a mother who also worked, her goal was to be able to cut down the drying time and styling time for her hair so her routine wouldn’t be as lengthy.  The Sleep Styler curls your hair while you sleep and helps to save an hour of styling time.  You can achieve beautiful styles with effortless work and it’s perfect for heat free styling.  Each roller is marshmallow soft with a  memory-foam core that makes it comfortable to sleep in and each microfiber material holds 4-5 times its weight in water, drying the hair super fast.

If you’ve been reading my blog or stopping by now and then, you know that I have naturally curly hair.  My curl pattern ranges between a 2c 3a and on a good day, 3a 3b if I have been caring for my hair properly.  It’s taken me a while to get my hair back to where I want it and I’ve finally embraced my curls, but that also means that I try to use as little heat on my hair as possible.  I really became excited about this product when I find out that it was a hair styling system that not only saves time and money, but it doesn’t cause any damage to the hair.

Using this product means that I truly need to take my time learning how to use it.  The first time I used it, I tried to take my curls and make them straight.  My hair at the time was past my buttocks in length and it was near to impossible to get all of my hair onto two of the rollers (stacked on each other).  I had parts of my hair (my lengths) that looked straight, while other parts still had curl and frizz.

After trying that and knowing that I just couldn’t make it work with my long hair, I figured I would test out the curly method.  Large barrel and voluminous curls are great for that glam and beachy look so I figured I would test it out and see how it worked for me.

It was interesting and you can see me put on the rollers in this video demo here.  

Putting the Sleep Styler in my long hair was a challenge, but I love that the product itself is lightweight.  The rollers are really soft and while I struggled to sleep with it the first time I used it to curl my hair, I tried it again and it worked well (so long as I didn’t use my CPAP mask).  I also cut off about 7 inches from my hair last week and found it to be much easier than when I tried to curl my hair with it originally.

As you can see from the photo above, it left my curls quite smooth and larger in size from my smaller and tighter natural curls.  I loved that it locked in the fragrance I had on my hair from shampoo and conditioner and my hair was left shiny and had a lot less frizz.  The Sleep Styler’s 100% micro fiber materials absorbed the moisture in my hair while remaining dry to the touch and it is perfect for bombshell curls that are voluminous and full.

While the longer rollers are meant for long hair, I did notice that it still left the hair near the crown of my head a bit bare.  I used one and a half packages of rollers on my hair but felt like I could have used it differently or used some of the small rollers on the top of my head for maximum coverage.

Overall, I think the product is genius.  I have been using it on nights when I just don’t have the time to let my hair sit and dry naturally.  It’s been awesome just for drying my hair, but it also works really nicely to help smooth out my hair length so it’s not as frizzy.  When I want an easy style without the fuss, I will use this to help with a no mess, no heat look.  I’ve been using this product now for about two months (the video demo was filmed about 3 weeks ago) and have found what works and what doesn’t.  Of course, I can’t use my CPAP mask on nights I have the Sleep Styler in, but I find that I can still get lots of use out of this product and I’ve been enjoying it so far.  I think my nieces would love this as well as my sisters and it’s perfect for those who are always on the go.

On my face I am wearing BeYu Cosmetics.  I have on the Color Patch Eye Palette 348-4303 which has green tones with gold undertones and shimmer.  My eyes are lined with BeYu soft liner 667 for eyes which is a teal metallic, while on my lashes is BeYu Beauty Queen Volume Waterproof Mascara in black. The mascara itself is a very thin formula, so none of my lashes clumped together, making for effortless application. First coat already defined the lash length, and as I kept applying it was a very buildable and it was not a thick formula. Although the wand was bigger than my regular mascara, I had no problem applying the mascara at all and particularly loved the lightweight feeling after application.

I have lined and filled in my lips with BeYu soft liner 5954 for lips, an almost burnt orange, without being so intense.  On top of that I am wearing BeYu catwalk volume gloss.  It is said to be an instant lip plumper and it does seem to have the effect of Plumping my lips.  It is a thick consistency but it’s not too uncomfortable on the lips.  It definitely is a gloss so of course, it will transfer should I eat or drink anything and I would need to reapply but it pairs perfectly with the soft lip liner, color matching perfectly with the lip liner.

The eyeshadows are very soft it feels like I have nothing on and there was absolutely no fallout, yet the color pigments shine beautifully in the light, reflecting every speck of iridescence. The mascara caught every single Lash on my eyes and is not heavy or thick. The soft liner pencils for lip and for eyes glided on smoothly and their color payoff is quite excellent as well.

Normally I prefer a matte eyeshadow as a base in any one of my pallets but for these quads, I think that every single shade available is gorgeous and easily wearable. Freely mix and match the shades to your individual preference, but quite honestly each quad has Shades that you could pair with anything and take with you on the go the only thing that I wish is that there were some form of mirror that came with the quads but I was able to use mirrors that I had already on hand.

The website’s interface is very easy to use.  As you can see from the screen capture above, you can select the border and framing options, color finishing and you can also see if you have provided a quality image for printing.  I love that you can upload any image you want and can make any changes or adjust the sizing as you see fit.  I’m in the process of ordering the above image for my mommy as a gift so I’m excited to see how it turns out.

The canvas we received was a stretched canvas over compressed wood board and wooden frame.  It’s reinforced well and strong enough to last for years to come.

Everyone knows that a great makeup or skincare mist for the face is definitely essential but in some cases, it’s a luxury that many can’t afford.  However, over the last year or so – brands have been coming out with affordable versions and Pixi is definitely killing it in the game.  At just $15.00 each, you can’t help but want to give these babies a whirl and see how they work.  I have been using these skin treats mists now for at least 2 months and boy oh boy, I’m in love.

The Hydrating Milky Mist is one I had on my mind for a few months and I was so excited to get it in my recent box to try.  This deeply hydrating mist provides and invisible layer of skin-soothers and is the ultimate remedy for dry skin like mine.  It’s feather light and offers your skin a surge of hydration with hyaluronic acid to help plump the skin.  It’s perfect for all skin types and provides a blend of black oat, provitamin A, and linoleic acid to rejuvenate the skin and provide a perfect first layer of moisture before you apply serums and makeup.  I shake my bottle and spray onto my skin in the morning or night (or anytime I feel my face needs a little hydration).  It’s easy to apply and one of my favorites.

The Makeup Fixing Mist with Rose Water and Green Tea has also become one of my favorite products.  Like most makeup setting sprays – this one prolongs makeup wear and keeps it from moving, melting and settling into fine lines and pores.  With the rose water and green tea infused formula, this spray helps to comfort, protect and balance the skin for a fresh face.  I love how it leaves my skin looking hydrated and really helps to give my skin a fresh look, regardless of how much makeup I have on.  I don’t have to worry about looking cake-face with this product.  This spray has replaced two of my favorites because it’s affordable and I love the smell.  If you’re looking for a spray that will set your makeup while adding a soft-focus finish, you’ll surely enjoy this one.

The Glow Mist is a product I’ve been using for quite a few months now and it’s one of my favorites.  Since I don’t use makeup daily and I’m always on the hunt for a glowy, dewy look, I think this product is one that gets the job done when I need it to.  The Glow Mist gives my face a luminous and glowing look while still leaving me with a smooth complexion.  It’s enriched with 13 natural oils plus propolis, aloe vera and fruit extracts.  It hydrates my skin while nourishing and also acts as a makeup setting spray while leaving my skin looking glowy and fresh.  I use it in the morning or evening when I need it and I even spray some on my shoulders when I am wearing something that exposes them some.  I love this product and I absolutely enjoy how it gives me that beachy (just get out of the water from a dip) look without being on the sand or getting wet.
